Based on the reviews and their large meaty sandwich pictures, I was expecting a sandwich more along the lines of a Zingerman's Delicatessen in Ann Arbor. Boy, was I disappointed. I got a #14 "The Supreme" grilled Reuben. It was very small (and I mean small even bread size-wise). There was enough corned beef on it to almost cover the bread, but only one thin layer. There were a few flakes of sauerkraut and only a trace of Thousand Island dressing. I could have made a better Reuben myself at home. I've never had a worse Reuben sandwich from any restaurant in my life and I'm 68. It didn't even come with a pickle for the $12.50 I paid for it. I will never patronize this Deli again. A waste of my drive there and my money. I'd give it Zero stars if I could. I definitely do not recommend Troy Deli. P.S. My wife was not happy with her #4 "The Twist" either. read more

Great Deli with ample parking and quaint outdoor seating. Staff is great helping to place orders. Ordered the #16 Spicy Turkey - Breast of turkey, hot pepper cheese, mild peppers with chipotle mayo on a delicious Santa Fe Mexican bread. I placed an order with 15 items for work for delivery. The one disappointment I had was the order arrived approximately 15 minutes later than I had requested. The order was on point, even with a few substitutions and the sandwiches were sooo good! I had the James Dean, their version of a Slim Jim, this will now be my go to place when I have a craving for one! It's been a few years since I had one, and this one did not disappoint! The baguette was so fresh! The ratio of items was pretty perfect. I'm not crazy about really thin or really thick ham and this was nice and medium, with lettuce, Swiss, tartar & tomato. The nicest people ever work here. Always greeted with a smile and no matter how busy they are, they greet each customer. It's a small place with big food! I used to work in the area and stop in here whenever I'm back. I always get #31! It is by far the best veggie sandwich! It's the size of a football and is loaded with both Swiss and Monterey Jack cheese, cabbage, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, avocado, with thousand island dressing on an amazing, fresh baked focaccia! Food was not as advertised. "Spicy Cheesesteak" was supposed to have "grilled" jalapeños. Nothing was grilled and the jalapeños were just pickled and microwaved along with everything else. Even the bread was not crispy and probably microwaved. Makes sense because the food came out faster than a fast food restaurant. I doubt the bread is from a bakery either. I would not call this a "deli". Reduce menu size, use better ingredients. Quality over quantity. That's my suggestion. read more

Finally tried this deli spot, don't usually frequent deli spots since I don't eat much bread or gluten. I settled on the tuna with Swiss, tomato and lettuce on a croissant. I ordered the spicy turkey and replaced it with boiled white chicken breast meat instead, added pepper jack, lettuce and tomato and mayo. I added 2 sides of the red skin potato salad and 2 bags of the jalapeño Miss Vickie's chips too. My tuna was good, the croissant was my favorite as it was fresh and tasty and I could taste the butter in the flakes of the croissant as I bit into it. My husband enjoyed his spicy chicken wrap and said it hit the spot and was what he was craving on this cold rainy day. read more

Temporarily closed, relocating to Rochester Square plaza , at 17 mile (Wattles) and Rochester Rd. Hope to reopen after Labor Day. Great tasting sandwich and hearty soup...perfect on a cold wintery day. The chicken noodle soup really hit the spot. They use the "fat" noodles, the kind that are almost like little dumplings, not egg noodles. There were plenty of vegetables and they didnt skimp on the chicken either. Wow, very glad I recently found this place! As other reviewers have stated, the portions are huge, the bread delicious and you can tell everything is made fresh and with great care. The lady who took my order was also very nice and friendly and just made for an overall great experience. We will definitely be regular customers here to try some of the other sandwiches! For our first time here, we had the Spicy Turkey, Spicy Beef and the #38 Ann's Favorite tuna sandwich. All were absolutely excellent. And people are right, the "full" sandwich is like TWO sandwiches! Not the best deli, but given the price, pretty good. Decent sandwich. Lots of soup choices too. Ambiance: no big deal. Old and dated interior, done on the cheap. Order at counter, go sit at laminate table, and wait for them to yell out your name. Clean, large and comfortable otherwise. Service: very friendly. All they do is take your order at counter and then yell out your name, but the 2 ladies behind the counter were very nice and helpful. No intimidation for 1st time patron staring at large menu board. Food: soup was good. Not great. Sandwich was ok. Not in the realm of a good Jewish deli. Weird thing is corned beef is served cold. Need to ask to grill it to be warm. Grilling makes bread greasy. No upcharge for lean meat. Another oddity is that half sandwich is a full sandwich and a full sandwich is 2 sandwiches. Bread is smaller, but double the food for $2 is a bargain. This place is absolutely fantastic! The #16 is mind numbingly good! The breads are all made in house and the meat shaved fresh per order! The chipotle mayo that's on the #16 is soooo good you slather that on just about anything and you'll have a fantastic snack! They're only open until 3pm and get VERY busy around lunch so try to get here early if you can :) I would 100% recommend this place! I do not care for the tiny, hard to park, too many cars driving through , corner strip mall that the Troy Deli is located in, but I will always return for the great sandwiches we bought today! The staff is hard working and patient with a smile! Today we scored high with a grilled James Brown sandwich, a grilled Dinty Moore and a chicken salad sub. What a great lunch spot! They have a vast menu of sandwiches, and some salads too. You can order a half sandwich or a whole for about $2 more. A whole sandwich is actually 2 sandwiches lol what a great value! My husband and i split a spicy chicken cheesesteak sandwich and a big serving of soup for less than $13. The soup came with delicious freshly baked bread. The sandwich had really nicely seasoned and tender chicken, though i do wish it had a few more jalapenos on it because it wasnt very spicy (still delicious though). read more

The employee I was able to work with was polite and not event a little irritated that I was giving less than 24 hours notice for my order! I ordered the executive and fruit combo which was the perfect mix of food for everyone in the meeting. I want to like this place, the menu looks killer and it was recommended to me to try. But they woman at the register has a mask with her nose exposed and her mouth over the top of the mask. I also saw, because they have an opening to see into the kitchen, one of the 2 people making the sandwiches had no mask on at all, and the other guy had a mask which exposed his nose. I really want to give this place 4 or even 5 stars because it's so good, but the last few times I've gotten carryout my sandwich has been wrong which is frustrating. This last time was partially my fault because I transposed the numbers (17 instead of 71), but I had also written the name of the sandwich I wanted. The sandwich I was given (the chicken salad) was horrible. Huge chunks of nuts, soggy lettuce and flavorless chicken salad on a croissant. The previous time, my Slim Jim was on the wrong kind of bread, and the substituted bread was extremely dry. There was an occasion my sandwich was completely missing cheese. Yet another time I ordered a pizza cheesesteak and was given a regular cheesesteak. I'll continue to eat here because my work often gets delivery for lunch meetings. However I REALLY hope they start paying more attention because it's frustrating to ask myself "what's going to be wrong this time?" And of course its delivery so there's no fixing it usually. read more

A hide gem in Troy, away from all the chain places near the malls. Its not quite a Jewish Deli, but you can get a wide variety of sandwich options, of an assortment of beards, rolls or subs. It has a large menu of speciality sandwiches and clearly there are regulars that know what they want since they decide to get lunch here/ But for a first timer, its a bit overwhelming, so take your time and ask the counter person - I'm sure they can customer make anything you want. They have big portions, enough for now and a later snack. I didn't have the soup, but its an option. They also are well stock on drinks and many variety of chips, snacks and cookies. They do have 20-24 tables, but most of the traffic seem to be take out or pick up orders. They are busy around lunch time, so cleaning the tables is not a priority. read more

Absolutely outstanding from service, menu, and of course the end product... the sandwich. There is an extremely large amount of sandwiches offered as well as closer to 15 different kinds of breads made right there daily. The establishment absolutely has a positive vibe when it comes to the workers, all very friendly and helpful. The sandwiches are gigantic, a half stuffs me to the seams-Literally, I wear my clothes pretty tight! Whew! I love how I can see all the baked bread and people preparing my food in the back while waiting for my food. First time eating there, I ordered a half of their #1 Selection; which was stacked turkey, sprouts, avocado and cream cheese on multi grain bread. "SOO good" wouldn't even give it justice, basically there was a perfect amount of meat, sprouts, thickness of bread, avocado and a GENEROUS portion of cream cheese.. can I get a "hell yea" to that. I love cream cheese. Not only was the sandwich great but I was given a whole sandwich at a half sandwich price I realized when I got back to the office. All around great lunch spot... but this little gem isn't open very much, mostly for the corporate lunch world like myself. They close at 3pm M-F and I am pretty sure are not open on the weekends at all. Give yourself more than 30 minutes to dine here, the menu can be quite overwhelming but having lots of choices is never a bad thing for your stomach...only for your dwindling lunch hour. read more

The menu is over whelming with all the different options, after I ordered I seen about 10 other sandwich's I want to try. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I can't review the Orchid Cafe, which is right next door, without reviewing Troy Deli. But I'll make it short. As people are Yelping, the sandwiches are huge. And they are, indeed, kept in place with plastic wrap and foam bottoms (minor complaint: I always dine in, and they ask you, so no real reason to wrap my sammy like a mummy cuz I'm just walking to the table, but once again I digress). I've tried maybe half a dozen sandwiches and all were good and filling. I'm a big onions girl, and many of the sammies here have sweet red onions. The breads/rolls are always soft and fresh. The drink sizes are ample. Tables are far enough apart that you don't feel like you're sharing a meal with the person next to you. It's noisy but that's OK; I usually bring a newspaper or such to read and I just block it all out. Maybe a tad pricey, only because if you add a salad or a side, you're looking at close to $12, if not more. Little expensive for a sandwich-oriented lunch. But they do know how to make sandwiches at the Troy Deli!! read more

Love this place. Get the whole sandwich and not just a half. For $2-$3 more you get twice the food, and it's always good leftover. I usually get the chicken ceasar sandwich on focaccia. Tender, melt in your mouth chicken breast seasoned deliciously. read more
