Very nice employees! A welcoming spot. The folks here are polite, efficient, and quite fun. It can be rather busy here, but they'll get your smoothie to you. I like getting whey protein. This adds a bit of boom after a workout. Seating area is comfortable enough. On really hot days inside where it's at. Good weather and kicking back at University Mall is wonderful. As for the food, I'm not thoroughly impressed. Go for the smoothies. These are quite good, and reasonably healthy. read more

Ordered their Carribean Jerk Chicken wrap. It was pretty sizeable for the price (not Chipotle big though). You do get a choice of a side with their wraps, quesadillas, sandwiches, and salads. See pics I choose a bag of chips. The wrap was well stuffed and was warm when received. They do heat up and press the tortilla before assembling. It tasted good for what it was. Didn't try their smoothie this time around. I have in the past at a different location and was not very impressed. But there are two size options. See pics. Inside has pretty limited seating. You can see behind the counter to see how the food is prepped. I saw into their storage fridge as well. Not very impressed with the cleanliness. Love love their beach bum smoothie (with white chocolate)! I eat here often and the smoothie tastes great every time. It's sweet and delicious even when I sub with splenda. I loved their mango bacon brie flatbread when they still had it, but their chipotle chicken club flatbread is also amazing. I've had some of their other smoothies, like the chia banana boost, peanut butter cup, and bahama mama, but I found them too bland. I will continue to come back for the beach bum smoothie and their flatbreads! read more

Well I usually stop by this tropical smoothie when I'm on my way to work. The workers are very pleasant. I always order the bahama mama and I'm never disappointed with that. However, everytime I order the wrap and make a simple modification they never follow through. This morning I went in and ordered the southwest breakfast wrap with NO tomatoes. Of course when I get to work there is an excessive amount of tomatoes on my wrap and now I can't eat it. I definitely recommend that you check your food order before you leave to ensure your modification (If made) has been fulfilled. read more

Fast service, awesome smoothies, nice people. It's perfect! Even the bathrooms are clean! The only annoying thing, which is no fault of Tropical Smoothie, is the University Mall parking lot. Gah! I don't know what it is about it, but people are always terrible at driving around it. I think it has something to do with the disorganized layout of parking spots. The parking lot was not able to keep up with the amount of people who use this shopping center. Anyway...back to the smoothies. I've been there three times now, and it's always great. Every time, I get the Bahama Mama, because it contains my favorite ingredient, which is pretty unexpected for a smoothie:white chocolate. Oh my god, it's heavenly. I've gotten a flatbread (California chicken) and a wrap (buffalo chicken). The flatbreads are cheaper and better than the wraps, so I'll keep getting those in the future. Sides are pretty dope, especially the kale slaw. This is the best place in town to get a smoothie, not to mention the most economical. Was incredibly impressed by this Tropical Smoothie. We placed an order for our soccer team of 25 and were blown away by how easy they were to work with. They gave us a phone number and email to send orders into. They took my google spreadsheet and filled the order beautifully. And even labeled everything so it was simple to distribute. Tropical Smoothie Café is my go to place for smoothies and this one located in University Mall (across George Mason University) is a awesome location with great service and delicious smoothies. College and high school students will love it. I love this place because they actually use fresh fruits in their drinks. They're not too sugary or heavy so no need to worry about the healthy aspect, this is the place to be. They do offer many drinks with protein mixed in them, those of you looking for a post workout boost. I've only tried the Mango Madness & Strawberry Banana Peach smoothies. Both of them were good and I recommend them if you like more of a light and sweet taste with good texture. I've heard some of the smoothies taste more watery, maybe tell them to add less water? The downside is that it's a small location and the seating is scarce and cramped. Not the optimal location to hangout with your buddies at. Also one of the tables was literally right next to the bathroom...nobody wants to sit there with food. Also there's only one smoothie size that is too large for one person, I would have preferred a smaller size that's also cheaper. 24 oz is huge. Plenty of parking. read more

The smoothies are usually fine, but the customer service stinks. Curbside pickup is awful - no designated spot, so you're waiting in a fire lane. They don't bring out your order - they expect you to call in when you arrive, but the App doesn't tell you that or even have an easy way to call after you order. This is one of the best Tropical Smoothie Cafes I have gone to. They have excellent service and are polite and help you with whatever you need as fast as humanly possible. The food here is great and the smoothies are some of the best ever. The smoothies give a fresh taste and help get you ready for the day. They have great breakfast options and great lunch options and prepare the food really well. Online orders are completed very quickly and you don't need to wait after the expected time cause they get it ready very quickly. Most times the food is ready before the estimated completion time which makes my day even better 10/10 visit this place it's amazing read more

After completing my smoothie order, the gentleman behind the counter chuckled and said with a smirk something along the lines of, "we don't have kim chi here, ok?" While I would have liked to respond in the same uncouth humor, I had my son with me so I acted as if I did not understand. He continued to elaborate on how kim chi is a Korean dish, which confirmed my thought that he was poking fun at me for being Asian. While we are fortunate to live in this great country, I firmly believe that every individual is free to express his or her thoughts and opinions. However, doing so at his or her workplace, especially when that workplace is a nationwide chain, is not so wise. I'd like to think I have a pretty good sense of humor but I did not find this incident very funny. I'm more disappointed in myself for letting this ruin part of my afternoon off with my son. I went to my 1st Tropical Smoothie Café on 7/11/16. I didn't know what to expect but after working hard in spin class (right before) I could not justify getting dinner nearby fast food chain. The atmosphere for the café was typically. It is a grab and go so the seating is not seat up for you to linger there a long time. The café also had ample (and friendly staff). I was impressed while I was ordering another women was watching the register and started making my smoothie and sandwich. (This has become an A typical practice for a lot of chain restaurants. However the success of chains like Starbucks is partially based on the order process so people aren't waiting for a long period of time after placing their order.) I was really surprised that this place does not just have smoothies; and, the number of smoothies that do use yogurt (which I am allergic to). I took the women at the counter's suggestion on a smoothie and order a veggie sandwich. The smoothie was really large and after I received it I could have just had that for dinner. In a nutshell, I am disappointed I did not know try this chain earlier and will be back when I want a snack and/or light/healthier lunch or dinner. read more

I'm normally a big fan of the peanut paradise smoothy (banana, peanut butter, yogurt) and have had great experiences, but I got the shaft this go around. The smoothy wasn't blended well so there were chunks of peanut butter rather than being blended. So it tasted like a banana smoothy due to the lack of distribution. Bummer. read more

But the restaurant itself is usually very dirty after the morning rush, because of George Mason University and a high school down the street. The smoothies get this like watery, flavor juice at the end, which temps me to buy a smaller smoothie, but nonetheless I get the Cherry Limeade one usually. The food here is ok, nothing special, it seems like it may be microwaved to order? The best part of the food here though is the Apple and Kale Slaw, I just wish the portion of that was a little bigger than a Dixie Cup. I was debating between the Peaches n' Silk smoothie and the new Watermelon Mojito, and one if the staff automatically offered to make me a peach mojito smoothie, and it was delicious! There is extremely limited seating, so don't plan on getting a table at lunch. My biggest complaint is that the food items don't have descriptions of the food. You have to look on the paper menu.
