I realized I previously reviewed the wrong location, so here's an updated review after coming to this location consistently for almost two months. It's close to my job, and I try to choose healthier options when eating out, which is why I keep coming to Tropical Smoothie Cafe. BUT unfortunately, the customer service here has been consistently disappointing. There's really no other way to put it. Most times when I walk in, I'm not greeted at all. It often feels like the staff doesn't want to be there, which makes the experience uncomfortable. One of the last times I came in, I thought there was a glimmer of hope. Karzina took my order, and from start to finish, she provided the best customer service I've experienced at this location... ever! Friendly, attentive, and professional. That interaction stood out because it's not the norm here. My first visit, I ordered through the app and requested extra buffalo sauce on the side for my wrap. When I asked for it, I was met with a "nice nasty" response: "We put the extra on the wrap. It's usually $0.50 for extra sauce, but I'll give it to you this time." Today's visit (4/30/26) was even more frustrating. I ordered my usual: a buffalo chicken wrap and a chia banana booster smoothie. When I walked in, the employee continued cleaning the refrigerators and didn't acknowledge me until she finished. I had to ask again for my buffalo sauce, and again, I was met with a bit of attitude. I got back to work, drank my smoothie, and saved my wrap for dinner... only to find out I had been given the wrong order entirely. I tried calling the store, but the number was not in service, so there was no way to resolve the issue. At this point, I'm honestly not sure why I keep coming back when the service continues to be this poor. It seems like a management issue, because the overall tone and consistency of the staff reflect that something isn't being addressed. This location has potential, but the customer experience needs serious improvement. Previous review to wrong store : This was my first time visiting this location. I placed an online order for pickup. When I walked in, there was no greeting, but I could tell I was noticed. I grabbed my order and headed out. Once I got to my car, I checked the bag and realized I had paid extra for a side sauce that wasn't included. I went back inside to let the lady at the counter know. She did get the sauce for me, but her response came across a bit "nice nasty." She said, "When you ask for extra, we put it on the sandwich. But I'll go get it..." It may sound fine written out, but the tone and body language made it feel like I was bothering her for something I had actually paid for. When I got back to work and opened my bag again, I also noticed the napkins were balled up and tossed in the bag. It just didn't feel like the order was prepared with much care. Back in the day, TSC was THEE spot for smoothies. Even when other smoothie shops popped up, you could not touch TSC's smoothie concoctions with it's taste from using real actual fruits and the protein/vitamin additives. Location didn't matter since every single one put out a 10/10 product. Now, it depends what TSC location you frequent. This place is hit or miss. I've had some days where my smoothie is the way it should be (smooth, easy to sip, clear flavors); then other days where it's too runny or ice isn't broken up enough leading to delayed/trapped sips. Fortunately they do not lack in flavor with my favorites such as the peanut butter, mocha madness, and blueberry bliss. As for the wraps/sandwiches, they are quite filling. And breakfast is served all day. Sadly no more breakfast sandwich (not sure why TSC discontinued it). Bring it back! Usually when I come here it's always empty as this spot is more of either takeout or doordash. But there is seating if you want to plop down and enjoy your smoothie properly. No issues with customer service despite what other reviews might say. read more

What a find! I had heard of TSC before, but this was my first time visiting. Ya girl needed a healthy breakfast on this hectic Saturday! Construction near the Cafe was a bit intense this day, but they had a few reserved spots directly in front. I opted for the green detox smoothie and one of the breakfast wraps. I did a pick up order which is the best thing to do at this location. There was only one worker and it looked like she was slammed with making orders. I was the only person in the business and was not spoken to. Other people came and left because they were not acknowledged when they walked in the door to place their order. I patiently waited and watched the young lady preparing my food in silence. Once she was finishing up another worker popped up and started assisting customers. The lady slides the smoothie (I already grabbed my sandwich) and says you're welcome. Luckily everything tasted as it was suppose too. This location does not make food according to the unkind young lady working the counter. They said they would've reached out to me if they had my number, which they clearly had my number because it was on my emailed receipt. As my smoothie was being made, the said employee sneezed while pouring my smoothie - ran away to sneeze more - but then didn't wash their hands and returned to making my smoothie. I visited the Tropical Smoothie Café on 34th with my 2.5-year-old son. After ordering food and a smoothie, I attempted to take him to the restroom. The women's restroom was marked "employees only." When I asked an employee for access, I was told the manager does not allow customers to use it because of a previous incident involving another family. Instead, I was directed to the men's restroom. Upon entering, I discovered the light did not work, leaving the restroom completely dark. When I brought this to the staff's attention, another employee, very rudely, told me to use the flashlight on my phone. I was very surprised and disappointed by this response, especially as a paying customer with a young child. When I pressed further about restroom access, I was told that "no one else has had a problem with it." I have frequented this location with my son many times, but this was the first time I needed to take him to the restroom. Unfortunately, this experience was unacceptable, and I do not plan to return. I am shocked a family-oriented business in our neighborhood would operate this way. Do better, manager and ownership. Just a reminder your employees are a reflection of you. read more

Customer service is non existent. Walk into the place and you will leave feeling miserable. I always get ignored. Three times in a row I've come to pick up my order and NO ONE greets you. You literally have to wait forever to get any type of acknowledgment. I once waited almost 10 minutes while 3 employees were walking around making orders while my To go order was sitting right on the counter behind them. It's so frustrating. I am extremely frustrated with my experience at this Tropical Smoothie Café. I downloaded the app because I was excited to bring my cousin and show her the new place I had found. As a new member, I received a buy one get one free coupon, which I planned to use. When I arrived, the first thing I saw was two employees sleeping on the tables. That immediately gave me a bad impression, but I decided to give it a chance. While waiting for my order, another customer came in very upset because he found a hair in his food. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the employees showed no concern, and I even overheard one of them whisper "yeah, that's her hair" ( referring to the manager) after the customer left. When I got my food, I noticed my total seemed high. I checked my receipt and saw that my BOGO coupon hadn't been applied, even though I had told the cashier I would be using it. I asked her about it, and she called the manager to see what could be done. To my shock, the manager, Kashby, was extremely rude and unprofessional. Over the phone, she told me I "didn't know what I was talking about," claimed that my coupon "didn't exist," and said I should have caught the mistake myself before paying. As someone who works as a manager in customer service, I know it is not the customer's responsibility to ensure discounts are applied--that is the employee's responsibility at the register. The way this was handled was unacceptable. Instead of helping me, Kashby dismissed me, made me feel stupid, and even mumbled her name when I asked for it so I wouldn't catch it clearly. Her behavior was unprofessional, and honestly, I even felt bad for the employees because they seemed embarrassed by her attitude. This was one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I've ever had. I was genuinely excited to try Tropical Smoothie Café, but after being treated this way and seeing how unclean and unprofessional the store was run, I doubt I'll be returning. read more

Just came in to pick up some smoothies because I have been feeling long under the weather and the girl making my smoothie literally just sneezed as she was making them and then ran to the back and proceeded to sneeze more. We had no problem waiting, however, the whole time she was slamming things down, cussing under her breath and giving us dirty looks for waiting. I tried going to Luce Coffee Roasters next door to study but it was packed so my friends and I decided to come here instead. It was actually not a bad place to study if you can tolerate the noise of blenders in the background. (There are waves of people that come in and out as well.) Staff were nice! I ordered an Açaí Berry smoothie ($5.99) while my friend ordered a Mango Berry Cosmo ($5.49) (they have a BOGO free if you use their app) and we both really enjoyed our smoothies. I like that you can customize your smoothie to your tastes from reducing the sugar level or substituting fruits and vegetables. The employees are all very nice and attentive. When your order is ready, they will personally walk it past the counter to you and hand it to you directly. Horrible service. The lady was so rude and dismissive when I asked her to help me with ordering at the wrong location. My phone mistakenly ordered here when I was at work, I called less than 5 seconds after placing letting them know don't make it, I had made a mistake. Instead of offering a solution she told me "I can't help you" "we don't give refunds". I said, okay can you keep the payment and I will pick it up at the location I'm at? "No. We don't do that. Essentially no help at all. I didn't even want a refund just my smoothie! This is wild.. and still no refund or smoothie or anything from customer service. Today is the start of their grand opening and they are offering $1.99 smoothies! I have been waiting for tropical smoothie cafe to open and they did not disappoint. All the employees are very nice and welcoming! We tried the island green and açaí berry boost. There were plenty of add-ins for the smoothie and it was only .99 cents to add multi vitamins. Both smoothies are super good, not too sweet and very fresh! They even decorated the cups - super cute! We were also offered a .99 cent smoothie coupon valid through January. I had been going to the Tropical smoothie cafe ever since The Pet Bar opened up across the street since I'm a member I go at least once a week to get my dog washed and go across to buy smoothies for me and my kids . Well I went in one day with my dogs as I always have and I guess he was the owner or manager came out from the back to yell at us to take the dogs out he said no dogs allowed! He was very rude about it and kicked us out ! He had no sign in his establishment stating no animals were allowed and both my small dogs had service vest on and are certified he didn't seem to care. Decided to try today placed order online, 15 minutes to PU. Took about 5 minutes to find parking in tiny lot, so I got there 18 minutes from ordering. Employees just asked if I was picking up and my name then scrambled to look for my order which was on counter with many others. I love tropical smoothie and when I moved to Houston I was so excited to find one right by my house! Last time I came, I had 0 issue with being greeted, asked if I was ready to order, and order my meal within minutes. Today I came in to order a quick meal and I stood at the counter waiting to place my order for 5+ minutes. One worker was making smoothies and another was just standing at the register on her phone or looking the other direction. They both made eye contact with me and didn't ask if I was ready to order. Finally after waiting 5+ minutes I asked if I could order and she said yes and gave me the rudest face. Staff needs some serious culture training on how to greet, treat, and be polite/ at least nice.
