The car in front left before getting their order

Took FOREVER to get through the drive thru. Waited at least 40 minutes for a singular smoothie. Don't know if they're short staffed but plenty of people seemed to be tired of waiting and left the line before getting their order. The smoothie was okay but it was ridiculous waiting for so long.

Healthy lunch is the idea today. I stopped in and ordered the Turkey, bacon and ranch sandwich on a chiabata bun, with a Sweet tea and a bag of chips. My snack was a snicker-doodle cookie. This place also does deliveries. You can order platters for your office or other people grouping activity and they deliver, within a short radius. Smoothies are the big ticket item. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean and spacious for a small space.

Off of Cassie's snap chat in July of 2019

ZERO stars would've been better but one is the lowest I can do. PLEASE read to the end. It will be worth it. With a picture included. Where to start? It all starts with the Tropical Smoothie manager, Cassie. I can't believe she still has a job. I've been going to the Martinsburg location for over 5 years. Usually they are great in service and quality. Until I had the displeasure of meeting Cassie. I was waiting on my order when a girl that had a Petsmart shirt on was getting a smoothie and asked to say a quick hi to one of the girls that worked there. Instead of saying unfortunately she was busy but she would let her know or anything professional like that she said, why what do you need her for (very rudely) and the girls responded with just saying hi and see if she needed anything before she went home. Basically Cassie continued to be rude to her. I get we all have bad days. But looking into it and working close by I have had the ability to see it first hand as well as have her be rude to me. They have been having issues with the ac in the front lobby mainly this year. As I talked to the staff I have found out that the ac in the back, you know where the food is kept and made, has been broken for the better part of three years. I have personally called OSHA due to this and they assured me they have had several complaints that they were sending out letters to the owners as well as having someone sent out there due to the minors that work there. They were working in the back and the temperatures have been, in July alone, at 109-113* recorded. That's not near the ovens and presses, just in the middle of the back room. What do you think happens to food in that heat that isn't cooked? Let alone fruit. Included is a picture off of Cassie's own snap chat. Yet they don't close the store or have someone out to fix the problem. An inspector has been out and given a hard fail because the freezers can't keep the food at the correct safe temperature due to the heat. Cassie has told the employees to leave the tips they get in the basket so she can even any drawers that are short as well as the safe. Only until the last few weeks have they started to give out tips that are handed to them. Otherwise what you put in the basket doesn't go to any of the employees. She takes hours from employees, that they've already worked, so she doesn't have to pay overtime. I know several minors work in that location. I can guarantee any parent that sees this and has a child working there are going to start asking hard questions when they find out this has been happening. Most of the staff is great just under horrible management. I'd hope the owners are looking into how she conducts herself with staff and money.

She was attentive, responsive, and…read moregenuinely seemed to care about our experience--especially when the food fell far short. In my view, good service deserves to be recognized regardless of kitchen performance, and Lydia absolutely earned that. This was our second visit. My wife and I enjoy oysters and were excited to find a nearby spot offering fresh half shells--especially with their $1 oyster special on Tuesday nights. On our first visit, we tried the "double D" oysters, which were large, plump, and fresh--exactly what we were hoping for. They were the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the lobster rolls didn't live up to the same standard. At that price point, they should be more substantial, and the bread should be appropriate for the dish. Instead, the roll was dry and the lobster portion was underwhelming. I'd recommend skipping it. That said, Lydia's service that night was excellent. Last night, however, was a different experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted by someone who appeared to be the floor manager, who made seating two people without a reservation feel like an inconvenience--despite several open tables and a largely empty outdoor area. Not a great first impression. Once seated, we struck up a conversation with a nearby table and ordered an appetizer, a dozen mixed oysters, and entrees. I went with the flank steak sandwich featured on the menu, while my wife ordered the paella. The iced tea was good, and my wife's cocktail was well-made and generously poured--no complaints there. The salmon bite appetizer, while tasty, felt overpriced for what it was: essentially broiled salmon on lettuce with a maple glaze. When my sandwich arrived, it came with exactly three overcooked, limp asparagus spears--I should've gone for the tots. The sandwich itself was even more underwhelming: a small bun with maybe three ounces of meat, a few mushy onions, and some cheese. My first bite was mostly gristle and fat. I understand flank steak isn't a lean cut, but when served as a sandwich, it should be properly trimmed and sliced. There's no excuse for a $20 sandwich to be that poorly prepared. The overwhelming taste of black pepper didn't help either. I ended up sending it back after one bite. Lydia handled it as professionally as possible, but I declined a replacement. As for the paella, it raised a different issue--how do you end up with overcooked shrimp and undercooked scallops in the same hot dish? It doesn't make much sense. While the flavor was decent overall, the execution didn't justify the price. To summarize: Lydia is excellent--if you go, take care of her. The oysters remain a strong point: fresh, plump, and enjoyable, though they could be more generous with the horseradish and cocktail sauce. The biggest disappointment was the lack of accountability from management. There was no visit from the floor manager (Mr. Inconvenienced from earlier) or anyone from the kitchen to address the issues, leaving Lydia to handle everything herself. The wait staff deserves better. If you're going for oysters, it's worth a visit. If you're planning a full dinner, be prepared for high prices, small portions, and inconsistent execution. The service staff and menu have potential--but the kitchen needs to step up. One final note: if you're charging $36 for a pour of WhistlePig whiskey, it should be served properly--with a clean glass and appropriate ice. Serving it with debris floating in the glass is unacceptable. You lost that customer too. Lydia is the ONLY reason why this is rated above one star. Kitchen needs to step up. Big. You're going to start losing servers.
