I would give zero stars if I could, but unfortunately, in order to leave a review and to share my experience, I have to put at least one star. I had an extremely disappointing and humiliating experience at Tropical Smoothie that I feel others should be aware of. I placed an order, picked up my food, and then went to use the restroom. When I came out, the cashier (Indian girl) loudly confronted me in front of other customers, saying, "Excuse me, did you purchase anything? You cannot use our bathroom unless you purchased something." This was incredibly embarrassing, especially considering I had just ordered from there. Being called out publicly like that--while other customers were ordering and watching--was completely disrespectful and unprofessional. I am a businesswoman in the area and have frequented this location before, but after this experience, I will never return. You should never treat your customers this way. I understand having a sign posted and not wanting people who are not purchasing items to use the restroom, but to have your staff trained to yell at customers to confirm this is ridiculous. I've never seen such poor management and poor training. You need to train your staff better and hold a meeting to ensure this does not happen again, because this is completely unacceptable. What made it worse was the explanation: the cashier (small Indian girl) said her boss/the manager requires staff to verify that anyone using the restroom has made a purchase, or they could get in trouble. Even if that is store policy, there is a respectful and discreet way to handle it. Yelling at a paying customer in front of others is absolutely not acceptable. I left feeling embarrassed, humiliated, and so uncomfortable that I ended up throwing away the food I had just bought because I didn't even want to sit there and eat anymore. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I strongly encourage others to think twice about supporting a place that treats customers this way. No one should be made to feel this disrespected - especially after already paying for their food. Do better. read more

During my visit, I witnessed behavior from the owner/manager that was deeply concerning and unprofessional. The manager spoke to her employee in a degrading, disrespectful, and rude manner. Rather than addressing any concerns privately, she chose to openly scold and reprimand the employee in front of me and others present. This type of public humiliation not only undermines employee dignity, but also creates a hostile and uncomfortable environment for both staff and customers. Professional leadership should foster respect, accountability, and constructive communication, and unfortunately, what I observed reflected the opposite. read more

Stopped here because my husband wanted a smoothie. His smoothie was great, he had the Bahama Mama. I ordered the Sunrise Sunset and it was completely bitter and undrinkable. I think they left out the turbinado on mine because this was gross. I should have taken it back but I didnt take a sip until we were back on the road. I stopped by the Tropical Smoothie on Matthews Township Parkway on Tuesday, 3/18/25 around 4:30 PM, and had such a great experience! The young ladies working were so sweet and welcoming--it really made my visit feel special. I ordered the Peanut Paradise and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly blended and packed with flavor. I can't return to this location unless major changes are made. The restrooms were left unattended (no soap or bath tissue). Trash cans were overflowing and stayed that way our entire dine-in visit. Staff was ambivalent to customer notice of this and barely paid attention to the customers in general. This could be because the music was so loud they couldn't hear the customers very well. My wife threw out her disappointing salad. Not to pile on, but for some reason delivery boxes were stacked in the dining area. I'm not sure what's going on here because I have visited other Tropical Smoothie Cafe locations that were pleasant and run much better. read more

never go here they barely speak English, and you cannot understand them and then I asked for extra protein powder and she had no idea what I was talking about and so I had to show her on the menu not a good look for tropical smoothie and then they didn't even make it fresh was not tropical. They pulled my açai bowl out of the freezer and it is still defrosting. This location has to be the worst tropical smoothie I've been too. I say this because every time I've come here at 8 they told me they not making food anymore. This last time I was here the girl said the same thing when a few minutes earlier she told her coworker that the oven is still on, the person in front of me orders food but when I get to the register she said they aren't making food anymore. Actually the rudest employees i've ever met. Got mad and had an attitude when my smoothie was made wrong and then shoved the cup in my hand. Came in on a Sunday Memorial Day weekend. I stood there at the register for at least 10-15 minutes before someone even acknowledged my existence. It's not like they were short handed with help either. I think there were 4 maybe 5 employees behind the counter. No one even looked at me. Finally, one girl did. I came inside there today 4/7/2023 and they were not busy. One girl was making a smoothie or something and didn't even say hello or I'll be with you in a minute. Not a single word. There was no one in the place. The music was so loud I felt like I was in a club. The other lady was cleaning up. I guess from lunch. And turned around looked at me and continued cleaning. I love tropical cafe! I was surprised to see one near the Costco I frequent at. It was hiding so I never noticed it! My go to smoothie is the "Mocha Madness". My husband ordered the "Sunrise Sunset". This was my first time going to Tropical Smoothie. Ordered a blueberry, strawberry and banana smoothie with soy protein. I could not even suck the smoothie thru the straw it was so thick. I removed the lid and there were still chunks of banana and strawberries in the smoothie. In addition, there were chunks of ice. It was like a smoothie blended with a cheap blender. I have always been a big fan of Tropical Smoothie. Unfortunately though, this particular location disappointed me as far as the portion sizes and quality of food. It looks like it was carelessly put together. My Baja chicken wrap is not nearly filled and has more lettuce than anything, with minimal chicken and sauce. It's my favorite thing to order so I'm just a little disappointed. The smoothie wasn't great either, which I've always loved as well, not a lot of flavor. I love tropical smoothie, I always go to the one in Monroe because it's the most convenient one to go to. Today, I went to this particular one because I was working over here in matthews. I ordered a smoothie and flatbread (which is my favorite here) and let me tell you, it was the worst sandwich I've eating in my life.
