Tropical smoothie cafe was my go-to every Saturday for a Cali chicken club flatbread and detox smoothie. They no longer have the Cali chicken club and instead have a new green goddess flatbread which is very similar, but not exactly the same. The staff at this location was friendly and I noticed they offered first responders and military discounts which is awesome. I went inside and the wait wasn't too long, but I did notice the drive-thru looked backed up and the wait being much longer than just going inside. They have tons of wrap, bowls, quesadilla, flatbread, sandwich, breakfast & smoothie options! So tip: check out the menu before you arrive to get an idea of what you want. Every time I went each order was made to order. Meaning, they didn't make it until I placed my order Which does lead to a longer wait time especially in drive through. Last time I noticed those who walked in had a faster time than I did. But I did just discover they have a rewards app (just go ahead and download it now, I've been hooked on this place since I first visited). The app allows you to order ahead of time, so while you're heading that way they can have it already made just for you! This establishment is moderately price - compared to what I would pay at a Panera or something similar. I love the smoothies - and I'm happy to hear not every smoothie has yogurt in it. Considering I am lactose intolerant and tend to eat more plant based / vegan lifestyle. But you can definitely customize anything on the menu in almost any way you can think of. Major bonus! Here are my go to when ordering: Hummus Veggie Wrap - this is automatically vegetarian but you can minus the cheese (that's what I usually do) and the lite ranch to make it vegan. I usually get SUNRISE SUNSET (which happens to be a fan favorite and I definitely agree) Next time I want to try peaches n silk You can add on things like chia seeds, flax seed , peanut butter, supplements and more! The service has really gone down hill in the last 3 months. The last 3 times I have been here there is always something wrong or they are out of something. They have been out of Splenda, long wait times in the middle of the day and chunky smoothies. Chunks of ice are so big I can't get it through the straw. This place is so addictive and healthy! Their prices are super competitive to the surrounding fast food restaurants. I'm so glad we have one here on the SW side! My latest go-to has been the ChaCha flatbread (limited time) with a pineapple siracha sauce on it and the Totally Green Smoothie. They always fill up the flatbread and make it worthwhile. I must say, that I am greatly disappointed in the overall icy consistency & lack of flavor in their Detox Island Green. I must say, it is green, but lacks the flavors of any of the natural ingredients. Only thing I'm able to taste is a hint of kale. Save your money on this one. Perfect little light lunch spot. Nice find in the SW OKC area. I ordered the pick 3 tacos and a totally green smoothie. The tacos aren't that big but they are really flavorful. I chose 2 cilantro lime fish tacos and the thai chili steak. The cilantro lime fish consisted of grilled tilapia,cabbage, spicy cilantro sauce and a house made roasted pineapple salsa. Excellent! The thai chili steak wasn't as good but still good. It had steak, cucumber, sriracha aoili and a sweet slaw dressing. They all come with flour tortillas, you don't have the option for wheat. They were nice and crispy though (see pic). My wife ordered the Jamaican Jerk chicken wrap, and again, really good. Actually surprised me that it had an authentic jerk taste. Came wrapped with corn, rice, black beans, asparagus, onion and a little mozzarella. Smoothies were also on point, highly recommend the avocado one or the totally greens. This might be an every weekend lunch spot for us in the future. We waited maybe 10 minutes for our food, but the manager said that was to long and have us a card for a free entree item or smoothie during our next visit. This location in particular had been my third poor experience. This time they couldn't make any sandwiches because their oven was broken. We were here to give TSC a final shot. We actually had free smoothie and sandwich coupons from our last poor experience. The service tonight was the fastest I've ever experienced at this location. The customer service attitude however was mediocre at best. The food was good and the smoothies were good. There was loud rap music playing when we walked in and it took a few minutes before anyone came from the back to take out order. I recently discovered Tropical Smoothie Cafe while visiting South Texas and immediately became obsessed with the Avocolada smoothie! I've ordered way too many to count. So I absolutely had to have one the other day and popped into this OKC location to get my fix. The service was really great at first, but there was clearly some miscommunication between the person at the register and the person who made the drinks. I obviously ordered an Avocolada and when it was ready, the woman who mixed my drink called it a Green Detox when handing it to the girl at the register. Hmm. Hearing this and noticing my smoothie was too dark and the wrong consistency, I politely asked if it was the correct drink. The woman who made the drink brushed me off saying, "yeah the green detox is the same thing as the avocolada" (uh SO false, those are completely different menu items). The other girl looked at her with wide eyes like she knew there was a mixup. So I tasted it and told them it didn't taste right, and the woman who made it gave me the dirtiest look I've ever received. So I light-heartedly clarified that it just didn't taste like there was ANY avocado in it (which is the main ingredient). She argued that it was the right drink and that she didn't know what else to tell me. So 2 stars because either the employees here would rather lie to customers than correct their mistakes, or they really are neglecting to follow the correct recipes and don't even realize it. I travel to the city from Tulsa several times each month and am so happy to find Tropical Smoothie here! It makes my dining decision so much easier and I don't have to stress about finding healthy food options now. I usually get the Peanut Paradise with Kale and Spinach and half the sugar or no turbinado sugar, depending on my mood. Today I tried the Chia Banana Boost Smoothie with Kale and Spinach and forgot to cut the sugar. While delicious, it is very sweet. The food options are great as well with tacos, sliders, salads and the new Super Grain Bowls being on my favorite list. You really can't go wrong if you're looking for an alternative to fried, greasy, suicide cuisine that lurks in every corner of every city just waiting to take another victim. I actually can not BELIEVE the experience I just had here. I'll keep it short and sweet. The woman who took my order at the drive-thru today in SW OKC was so rude that she actually made me angry. She cut me off multiple times telling me my total before I was done. At one point actually making me raise my voice to say, hey, I'm not done with my order. Then she messed up not only the whey protein in my order, but she also gave me the wrong chips. No big deal right, even though she was so rude. Then when I tell her, I ordered whey in the smoothie that goes with my meal, she charged me an additional $1.08 to add the whey that I had ordered in the first place and did not receive. In the past it's been a 10 cent upcharge on the smoothie that you get with the meal, not 1.08, but again, okay. Aside from that, she didn't hear it due to her constant rush to get me to the window and she charged me again on purpose. I'm also relatively certain I heard them laughing when she said, "its going to be an additional charge". I paid. Then got my food. Wrong chips... Again. I told her. She yanked them from my hand and gave me the right ones. I also want to mention that she also tried to correct my pronunciation of the word Acai, which she blatantly butchered. Even though she was wrong and I said nothing to her about it, that's beyond the point. You just don't try to correct customers like that, it is absolutely ridiculous. I work in customer service and I would never in my wildest dreams treat a customer that way. I am not a Karen. I don't ask to speak with the manager. I could count on one hand how many times I've launched a formal complaint. I'm going to be completely honest with you when I tell you that the staff at this cafe were so incredibly rude that I would not put it past them to have manipulated my food and the food my children were going to eat. We didn't even eat it. I would have just asked for a refund and gave it back right then and there, but I was so ready just to get away from there that I left. Shame on them and shame on any establishment that condones that kind of behavior. I won't be going back. I also want to add that I was not at all rude to them. I don't believe in that crap. I was extremely nice even though I was honestly furious. P. S. She really does need to research pronunciation of the word "acai". That way she can correct people who are actually wrong... I had the best smoothie ever from this place! One of the employees recommend his favorite smoothie combination and now I'm a believer! What is it you ask? It was a delicious strawberry kiwi smoothie with a shot of white chocolate. I was completely on the fence when I heard about it, but I gave it a shot and loved it! 5/10/18 placed an online order at 4:05 for one smoothie. Should be ready at 4:15. Arrive at store at 4:13. Note on front door that only the drive-thru is open. Look at line of cars; there are 6 cars in line. So, I've already paid online for my one smoothie and they want me to wait in that long of a line just to get it? I've waited in a 4 person line before for 20 minutes. Not doing it for a smoothie ever again. I'm asking for a refund. This is great place for a fantastic deal on a large, delicious, and nutritious smoothie and other healthy food. I often visited one of three locations in OKC after long marathon training runs. One employee told me that they do add sugar or some sort of sweetener to the smoothies, but overall the smoothies are chock-full of healthy fruits and vegetables. Ingredients are listed on the menu. They are also very tasty, and surprisingly inexpensive. I suggest my standard 16 oz (or is it 20?) Avacolada smoothie with half sandwich meal deal for about $7 including tax, though the smoothies themselves could probably satisfy most people. Sandwiches are not amazing, but they are good and are a great alternative to fast food for the health-conscious folks out there. Sit in or drive though. read more
