The bowls here are just plain bad. I ordered the regular acai bowl and got the passion fruit one. Proceeded to try and eat it anyway, and it was a frozen block and had the sticky consistency of being freezer burned. When I returned it. They apologized and gave me the correct bowl which had a BLOCK of açaí in it. I can't even break into it with the spoon they gave me and will have to now wait for it to melt. I've never had a bowl that wasn't a mixed frozen consistency and just a block. Will never be back. read more

I stopped in to use a coupon from GoPlaySave and ordered a chicken Caesar wrap and a banana strawberry pineapple smoothie. The restaurant is clean and I love the photo of the tropical pier. The ladies working the counter and in the kitchen were very helpful and fast. The smoothie was good. I am just giving a lower star because the size of the smoothie is enormous, sweet, served in styrofoam and just not as full of of clean ingredients I thought it would be. The same goes for the wrap. Absolutely mortified, my smoothie tastes like vomit and deer meat. I have never experienced such blasphemy to my most favorite, splendiforus food. If The Godfather taught me anything, it's that respect matters--and this Tropical Smoothie Café clearly never got the memo. I walked in expecting a refreshing Sunshine Smoothie, but what I got tasted like a crime against fruit and humanity. If Don Corleone himself had been served this monstrosity, someone would be sleeping with the fishes. The texture? Grainy, watery, and sad, like it had been blended by a broken garbage disposal. The taste? Imagine if a banana, orange, and mango had a bitter family feud, and instead of making peace, they settled their differences by assaulting my taste buds. I've had cough syrup that was more enjoyable. To make things worse, I waited an eternity--long enough for Michael Corleone to plot an entire takeover--only for them to hand me this lukewarm, melted insult in a cup. I looked at the employee with the same disappointment Vito had when Sonny ignored his orders. But unlike Sonny, my taste buds didn't get a quick death--they suffered slowly and painfully. Today was my first experience trying the food at here. Over the years I've consumed so many flavorful smoothies. After browsing menu my tastebuds were pushing me toward Chicken Jerk Wrap but the Chicken Pesto also sounded tasty, so I ordered both as take aways. I had sweet potatoes and kale apple slaw as sides. Once my order was ready the cashier was nice enough to bring it over to me. I couldn't wait to finish last errand to get home and finally taste my food. The jerk chicken had black beans inside wrap with rice and fresh greens. My 1st bite reminded me of why I rarely to casual spots that a part of chains often. It was really salty. However the sweet potatoes are smashing, full of flavor well cooked with nice bit of char. So next I sliced into chicken pesto Flatbread it was a delightful good surprise . The food in this entree tasted fresh, not over seasoned at all I actually used some balsamic vinegar as a dip for this it really made the dish pop alive. The kale slaw was so fresh I luv hearing apple crunch with each bite. Its an overall pleasant 1st I must say. I stopped here instead of my once dependant quick lunch spot Chipotle but since there methods of dealing with food shortage nation wide it has made me pass my business on to other vendors. read more

I had a $5 off offer so I ordered a large Detox Island Green Smoothie (pineapple, kale, ginger, apple, mango etc) it was so fresh and delicious! Not artificially sweetened at all. I also ordered a Baja wrap and maple sweet potatoes. The wrap came with a bag of Miss Vickie's chips. Everything was perfect. Not overly seasoned or cooked. My co-workers and I have this Tropical Smoothie as our go to spot. Perfectly convenient and so good. I have gotten the half sandwich and smoothie combo for about 8 bucks and feel so good every time. My stomach doesn't feel too full nor too empty. I usually have a Chipotle Chicken Flatbread with a smoothie for $3.50 more. For the smoothies I think the Sunrise Sunset smoothies are easy to drink if you want a little bit of sweet after the savory sandwich/flatbread. The Goji one is pretty good as well and nice how they have add ons to supercharge the smoothies or if you are feeling a little sluggish you can always get some detox smoothies with loads of greens. I have been to one other tropical smoothie in the triangle area, but this one by far is my favorite. They have flatbed, bistro and toasted wrap sandwiches, Salads and a Breakfast Menu to boot. The Smoothie Menu consist of a selection that will make your head swim. You have Coffee, Low Fat , Supercharged, Indulgent, and Super Fruit Smoothies. They have 34 choices of Smoothies. I have not tried any of the food yet. But I am a fan of the Smoothie. Tropical Smoothie Cafe's "Eat Better. Feel Better" slogan is a terrible mislead. While they boast about using the freshest ingredients, I can't dispute that. But one look at their nutritional information would have smart customers heading for the hills. And that cracks me up because all the other reviewers are talking about how "healthy" the place is... It's a clean, fun-looking and nice enough place - I just wouldn't want to eat there. If my thing was eating trash like big pizzas and Oreo cookies, patronizing this place would be a step up if I was trying to raise my health game. But if you're not new at doing the right thing by your body, steer clear. If you're like me and my 2000/2200 calorie a day goal, you'll notice some glaring ugliness here... I know what you're thinking: smoothies are healthy. But what you're not thinking about is how monstrous their numbers are. For instance, the Chia Blueberry Max clocks in at a painful 700+ calories, 31 incredible grams of fat and 33 murderous sugars. Its redeeming quality is its high fiber/protein mix. Can't say the same about the Immune Blast. See that? I just blew away 700 of my 2000 calories on a smoothie. But how about the salads? You'd think salads would be healthy for you but TSC manages to wreck that idea with the Loaded Spinach and its 574 calories, 34 fats (!!!) and 39 sugars. Thankfully it's got 6 g's of fiber. Compare it with a Trader Joes spinach salad with 280 calories, 22 fats and 12 sugars. Now, the Thai Chicken salad has good numbers but the sugars are high. The Chicken Caesar has 40 incredible grams of fat. These are salads, people. If you want to eat well here, stick with the Kale and Apple Slaw, the Thai Chicken Wrap (tho it's crazy with sodium), a couple flatbreads and the Turkey Bacon Ranch sandwich, which is killing it awesomely in the protein department. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any anywhere. So, I got my food to go and looked up what I could find on my computer, and I can see why they don't post the information. Beware! Per MyFitness Pal, The Super green Caesar Wrap, although fresh and delicious, has 610 calories and 1,460 mg of sodium!! That's almost half of your daily intake. I wouldn't have expected that from a relatively small wrap filled with romaine, kale, and spinach. My mocha madness smoothie (with low-fat yogurt) was 588 calories :( If you aren't trying to eat healthy, then go for it because it was very fresh and tasty otherwise. read more

I was in the area shopping and figured I would give this place a shot after I was craving a smoothie. It was really busy on a Monday afternoon but I placed my order online and it was ready in about ten minutes. I went with the avocado smoothie since it was recommended as a fan favorite. The smoothie was huge! I was certain I wasn't going to finish it and for only $5, it's a pretty decent price for it's size and compared to other smoothie spots. The taste was good, nothing spectacular but it was still pretty tasty. Surprisingly, I downed the whole thing before I made it home. Wow, skip Brig's on a busy Saturday morning and head straight for Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Who knew they had breakfast wraps? I had the All American Wrap with a Mocha Coffee Smoothie and it really hit the spot. Their sanitation score is 100 and the young lady in the front was very helpful and friendly. The wrap was only $3.99 (did not come with any sides), and the smoothie was about $5.00. One odd thing is they don't have blue cheese dressing for their Buffalo Chicken Wrap (only Ranch), and also no ketchup. (I like it on my eggs, what can I say), but salsa was a fine 2nd choice condiment, and they had plenty of that. I felt healthy eating there and will definitely be back. read more

I absolutely love it here! I don't live nearby but I wish I did! I'm so happy the are putting one near me. I got the all American omelette which you can customize and it was amazing. Served on a tortilla with melted cheese, it was great! I got a blueberry bliss smoothie which isn't tart but it isn't too sweet it's right in between. It has blue, and straw berries and bananas. Now part of the reason is having joined Wildwood Greens golf course just down the road off Strickland....but after a morning round or before an afternoon one, a quick stop here for a smoothie to keep you hydrated and/or one of their flatbreads are the perfect compliment. I love their Honey Ham & Swiss and their Baja Chicken. The honey mustard sauce goes great with the Ham. And the ranch with onions and peppers on the Baja are just as good. For Weight Watcher fans, ask for Splenda instead of Turbinado and its' only 4 points for most of their smoothies. I love the Paradise Point and the Rockin Raspberry (just be aware of the seeds - which means its' fresh). read more

Last night I called in at 8:40pm to order a smoothie and my husband was already on his way to get it. No one answered and when he got to the store at 8:50pm they said they were closed. Tropical Smoothie Island Green is good (I get it without any sugar or splenda) and it is just right. However, 24oz is huge. Why don't they offer different sizes. I tried the noodle bowl (Thai and Steak) and they are HORRIBLE, and had a processed taste - not healthy at all. One last thing - the place on Creedmoor has a stench/smell that is not "fresh" ... and it almost smells at times like they are trying to mask a smell with bleach. I would think this type of place would want to have a tropical, fresh fragrance that was inviting instead of what it is....i have been in there twice and same smell both times....also, never see anyone in there. Makes me wonder how long this will be open. Please take this as constructive feedback and make the appropriate changes. read more

This location is by far the worst in the triangle area (close second to the location in Cary off Kildaire Farm Rd). The MALE workers at extremely rude and unapproachable, no one has manners, the wait is always long even when ordering online. Oh and to throw salt in the wound, the shakes are trash. They are never flavorful (2 out of 10 shakes taste good). The location off Falls of Neuse is by far the best. They should just shut this Creedmoore location down. They were not being safe, no gloves, no mask, were not keeping their distance from the customers and were complaining about their jobs the entire time. Staff is sweet and the food is good but it was very slow (I was the only one in there) and when the lady in the back about to put my sandwich in the panini press, some of it fell out onto other parts of the machine (not the grill part) and she stuck it back in the sandwhich. I'm a fan! This business opened about three years ago - when I used to live in North Raleigh. I was a member of 02 Fitness and it was awesome to walk over to TSC after a workout for a smoothie. Unfortunately, I moved across town shortly after they opened and there really isn't a location by me (please open one in Crossroads Cary). I was in this area of town today and stopped by. I grabbed the smoothie and half sandwich special - it ran around $7.50 after tax. I think it is a great deal. I ordered the Avocolada (I think that is how it is spelled - they combined the words avocado and pina colada). It's a green smoothie (so I feel like it is somewhat healthy). It is really tasty. I ordered a half of the Wasabi Caesar Roast Beef sandwich. I tried this during my first trip about three years ago and I have been hooked ever since. One thing about this sandwich - I feel like they use higher quality ingredients. The lettuce is a dark romaine and the bread is a very good ciabatta - chewy though - not too doughy or crunchy. I can't wait to return or until you open a location near me. Also, they are currently offering a Cilantro Lime fish taco. I want to try that some time too.
