You can choose three free sides, which is a nice touch, but I do wish the bowl was filled a bit more and that there wasn't an up charge for more sides. The Thai vinaigrette dressing I got on the side was flavorful and tied everything together perfectly. I stopped by one morning for to grab a smoothie before going to appointments. There was no one dining in, but there were a lot of people getting takeaways and picking up online orders. I had ordered a City of Oats smoothie. It was actually quite filling with the oats that is a main ingredient. It was a really tasty smoothie, great for a quick breakfast on the go. The restaurant was clean and organized when I visited. The decor is very simple but quite cozy. They have plenty of tables and chairs inside. Adore this place and the cute location in this walkable neighborhood community! The decor is simple and modern, clean and fresh. The staff are informed, patient and friendly. The prices are fair. The food is incredibly fresh. The menu is a delightful selection. The containers are compostable. Even the bathrooms are nice! What to order? A smoothie? Yes. The big green was tangy and green with just the right amount of sweetness. The mint adds a wonderful flavor profile to the pineapple and mango and greens. Good texture too- not too runny or thin, but just right! They have so many menu items to choose from in addition to having build your own bowls. It's a great reason to come back again and again. I was sold at the Caesar with buffalo cauliflower. The cauliflower was perfectly fried with the right crispness and breading for a mouth satisfying trio of crunch, flavor and cauliflower to coating ratio. I could order that alone any day! The dressing was perfect, too, and also complemented the cauliflower and the veg coconut bacon. So many delicious flavors without being too salty or overwhelming- just a fantastic blend for a happy palate. They are great at menu marking the items for dairy, gluten, nuts and vegan/ vegetarian. By the register, there were desserts, too. Simple cookie or brownie- of course the brownie! It was a peanut butter vegan and gluten free dessert that had great flavor. However, it is best out of the fridge for the fudgier texture rather than at room temperature for a cake texture. So many choices! The last two times I have ordered bowls from here the food has been both wrong (not what I ordered), and off. The tofu was old and spoiled last time, which I didn't realize happens with tofu, but indeed it does, I literally had to spit it out. This time, the sweet potatoes were rancid and also they mistakenly put in a load of beef. The first year this place was open it was delicious every time. It was wonderful to have a place with fresh, healthy, food. But now they are keeping food too long and the staff is inconsistent, making mistakes. They need better quality control. The Triangle's own does have its issues, especially at the "Bull" Durham location, but they're well worth their salt (or lack thereof), and one of my 5 fave salad chains in the country, hands down (or hands up, if you feel like celebrating). So it's another new location for this wonderful salad place specific to the Try-Angle, which has excellent products and gives a decent-sized salad as well. Every bit as good as the much more busy version in Durham, but better because I've had some nasty experiences at the Durham one lately. Employees are angels at this one, and I really like it a lot. So much so that I brought Bae here, and she loved it too! We absolutely adored the salad, and while we ate half of them here, they were still good after sitting for hours, in a hotel room later. The chicken that she gave me was good but, one big problem is that they insist on you taking protein which factor into the cost, which isn't too cheap - and a lot of people don't want protein on their salad, myself included. It should be cheaper without the protein, for sure. The toppings and scoops are pretty good but the dressings are a real strong point with the wonderful chipotle pepper one, other than the incidence of sugar in it, is a very very good dressing, in fact I love it. If there's a down side to this specific location, it can be kind of a nightmare to get into this part of the plaza, and heavy traffic to get out, so watch out. And as I said, it's not a huge portion, they force protein on you factored into the price, and it's not cheap... but I love it, and it's better than 95% of salad places including 100% of the ones in NYC and DC, which is the region that invented these places. Unfortunately this last time was the straw that broke the camels back - my fiancé sucked up a piece of hair out of smoothie.... I can't even begin to find the words on how disgusting that is. I was so excited to try Happy + Hale this particular location was very close to my home so I was happy that it was opening + so happy that I came. When I arrived the store is situated inside of midtown and there is plenty of parking. The lot was very full because it was opening day but I am sure on a day that they aren't so busy there will be more parking. When I arrived It was full of people but the line moved quickly. They had a couple of booths set up for people to try samples which I thought was a great touch since people were in line waiting. The menu was very large with something for everyone. I loved that they serve breakfast all day. And have multiple options for salads. I chose the Thai Chicken Crunch which was absolutely delicious. I also love that you can build your own salad. I ended up paying $12 for the salad. The staff was very friendly and they all greeted me with a smile. Everyone made sure that each person in the restaurant had what they needed. I met the manager of the store and she was nice as well as the owner and he was nice as well. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful! I love the aesthetic and the focus on details. I'm a fan of this Happy + Hale the location is close to my house and as long as you don't go during prime time lunch time hours is no issue finding parking. Even then you can find a spot if you hunt a bit or go to the garage. To get it out of the way my main issue is how loud the place is. Everything echos and you have to yell when its busy to be heard by your seat mate. I like that they have an expanded menu here and I could see myself stopping in for weekend brunch, not just lunch. I have always enjoyed the smoothies at Happy + Hale and some of their classics made it to this menu, like City of Oats and Almond Brothers. A new favorite here is the pink drink, it's bright pink due to the dragon fruit and really quite tasty. On my first visit I got the avocado toast which was a decent portion and I enjoyed. The lunch line gets long, but I have found that things move pretty quickly. I also like all the infused water options they have.
