Dear Tropical Smoothie Staff, I used to work at Tropical Smoothie, and I have to say, as a former employee I am quite disappointed in the quality of the last two orders received for my current work place. None of our food was labeled, the quesadilla boxes were smushed, and the smoothies were either way too soggy or not blended enough and there were no straws one of the two times. Specific time and in person etc. the website stated the owner would be in contact and no one has reached out. Phone number and email provided. I don't know what is more frustrating the fact that we paid $40+ on food that had be thrown out or the fact that we had tip at fast Food experience. Went in to grab a smoothie real quick. The store was run by 4 teenagers who were all chatting instead of working. They were quite literally throwing things (blenders in to sink, food at each other, chip bags, etc.). It took 2 minutes for them to take my order and I was the only one in the store. Took another 6 to start making my smoothie. The smoothie was fine but service could definitely be improved. read more

Today I ordered an online order to the wrong tropical smoothie. The lady handled the issue so amazingly, I wish I could have caught her name. Grabbed a smoothie to share along the way driving up Sutton's bay from the hotel stretch along US-31. For $5.99 it was a large enough size to split with my boyfriend and it lasted the whole ride to our lunch stop because of the insulated cups the smoothies come in. Quick service and smiles at the drive thru! Prices could be a bit more reasonable if I just wanted a smaller quick sip for myself. read more

Smoothie was delicious, made quickly, and huge. Easily two servings. Still sipping on it hours later at my desk, I quickly Googled the nutrition facts and almost fell out of my chair. 82 GRAMS of sugar -- and mine was one of the "healthier" options on the menu. Some of them had 100 grams! It's from added turbinado sugar, not the fruit. I would expect that kind of sugarload from an ice cream place, but it bothers me when a business tries to pass their food off as healthy and is pouring sugar in it. read more

If you are truly looking for something healthy, this is not your place. The quality of veggies in my wrap was mediocre, and the smoothie was LOADED WITH SUGAR. The menu does not list sugar as an added ingredient along with everything else. This is a crime because of their false marketing. You think you're getting a real fruit and veggie smoothie and not 100 grams of sugar + the natural sugars in the fruit. Also, they come in styrofoam, which is terrible for the environment! We said we were dining in, but got all of our food wrapped in a plastic bag. How can you be "healthy" yourself, and treat mother earth poorly at the same time?? read more

Don't support veterans and don't even ask them, they look at you like you're an idiot for asking. They have no clue how to make the items on the menu. My Bahama Mama was pretty much strawberry and my California chicken club was lukewarm at best and was mostly lettuce and tomato. I WILL NEVER RETURN to this location! Smoothies are so amazing! Smoothies are least the same and consistency is definitely key. They are still new in the the Traverse City area so people will have to warm up to them. Customer service could be a lot better though. read more

I have never ordered a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Café before. I called it in over the phone for pick up through the drive thru. After I ordered it, I went to the nutritional information and saw the calorie count at 340 or so and the carbs at around 88. I was really surprised. But then saw a column that showed what it was if ordered with Splenda. I was disappointed that they added any sweetener at all as I was under the impression that this was "healthy". When I arrived at the drive through I asked if they hadn't made the smoothie yet if they could make the version with Splenda. They said they had made it but could remake it with Splenda without a problem. They were friendly and accommodating and it was still ready within minutes. I am not sure I would order another smoothie from here as I was hoping that it was just fruit and maybe a little honey or something. But was impressed that they were so accommodating. read more
