I have been coming here for years. I know the owner. I have to finally say that my dissapointment in Dan and his sons that oen multiple locations is jusy abysmal. The women that operate the salons are so grossly unpaid it is ridiculous. Manangers have no benefits and are paid minimum wage to sometimes manage multiple stores. The underworkers are expected to travel to whatever store needs the most help with zero money for gas to get to said stores.., sure, this is not a difficult job, but , it is appalling that this chain retains a foothold in this arena. For about the 20th time I showed up to tan in Mukilteo to find it closed. Not posted on website... Closing early should be an easy text message to all members. Just do the bare minimum. read more

some of the girls are really nice. I've also had some very rude ones. They also close early and if you don't get there a half hour before closing, they won't let you tan. today They close at 6 PM on Saturday 6/29/24 I went there right at 5:30 and they had the door locked and closed earl again! very disappointed because I pay good money to have a membership and I'm going on a trip in a few days so I'm trying to get a good tan and now I have to drive all the way to the 196th St. location In Lynwood read more

I really don't know anything about tanning but won a few gift certificates here for 4 tanning sessions and a shellac manicure at a silent auction. I really like that this place gives back to the local community. It was easy enough to set up an appt time for the manicure on the phone. Manicurist was super friendly and provided some tips on how to make my shellac last longer and offered to fix any issues that occurred if I called and came back in. I came in to do my manicure and wasn't planning to use the tanning gift cards, but decided I would check out some red light therapy while I was there. I really like that this is available at this location as well. This place is very nicely decorated for Halloween currently and everyone was super friendly and made it seem really welcoming. I haven't been in a tanning bed in 20 years and had a million questions which were easily answered. They do sell a lot of products including the Hempz lotion which I have been enjoying. I truly have no idea how this compares to other tanning places, but customer service is top notch. read more

I went to the Mukilteo location today for a spray tan. The employee working mentioned that they cleaned the machine last night and that she needed to put the filters back before I could spray. I went into the machine, followed all steps accordingly, and got out of the machine to find out that I had been sprayed all over my body in splatters of bronzer. It almost looked like someone took soy sauce or teriyaki sauce and hosed me down with it. I have never experienced anything like it (I've gotten multiple spray tans at different locations and different salons before). I yelled for the girl to come into the room and look at what happened and she informed me that she didn't realize that all of the pieces weren't put back on the machine. She looked at me shocked, with her jaw dropped and told me to go home and shower and use the household cleaner windex on my body to help get it off. And then offered to give me another spray tan for free if I drove back to the salon after I showered. I already have unlimited spray tans with my membership so that was like a huge slap in the face. I work in customer service and have to rent apartments to prospects every day at work, so something like this is going to effect my job for the next couple of days till it fades fully. It wasn't just my body that was sprayed down it was of course my face as well. My face got the worst of it. I was in complete shock and ran to my car only to break down and cry. All I recommend is that if you plan to get a spray tan at tropical tan to make sure that the machine is put together properly to prevent having to be publicly humiliated after leaving the salon. read more

I went in with a coupon for a free week of conventional. The girl working at the desk was pleasant and gave me a tour of the salon. They explained the prices to me and I was shown my room. The tanning bed itself was old... the same model I used in highschool in the mid-late 1990s. Also, while in the room, I could see dust/dirt and stuff on the floor like they hadn't swept in awhile... while I was in the bed, I noticed a ton of dirty grimy stuff around the edges where the housing goes for the bulbs. I did not notice a difference in my tan (I always do) and they probably need to replace their bulbs. I didn't go back to complete my free week and have since gone back to my original tanning salon. Hopefully they will clean things up and maybe update their beds. read more

I've been going to tropical tan in Mukilteo for four years. Been very satisfied until tonight when I came to get a tan was told that I had no pre paid tans left. The lady told me that my remaining tans had expired. She said that you must use them within one year from date of purchase. I was in two week ago and no one told me. She said "now you know" I will not be going back. I feel cheated out of my remaining tans. read more

I absolutely loved it here! I've gone in tanning beds before, but this time I wanted a quick spray tan. Tried the Versa at this location, this was the first time I had ever gotten a spray tan. Staff was really nice and very knowledgable. I only got the spray tan because I'm trying on wedding dresses this week. ..... now I think I'm addicted lol! It was super easy. I have been a customer at the Mukilteo location for over a decade. It's the only place I have ever purchased tanning packages. The salon is super clean and all the employees are very nice. The Halloween decorations are incredible! However last week when my package expired, I was told that the owner will now only let you use Groupons once a year. I didn't know that before I purchased my last one. And their prices have recently increased. Everyone wants to think they are getting a good deal, or some kind of discount from full price. Sadly, I'll have to find another salon that honors Groupons or coupons and doesn't limit them to once a year. It's a shame that loyalty isn't valued anymore. read more

By far the best tanning salon I've been to. They have very cheap membership prices and are always helpful and willing to answer questions. They not only have tanning beds but also a spray tan machine and redlight therapy. If you buy a membership you get discounts with Cheryl who has her own nail salon right in tropical tan. I like to swing by here after work periodically for a much-needed 20-minute power-nap and quiet time before dealing with traffic on the way home. The atmosphere is very comfortable and the young ladies are all very friendly and helpful. I haven't utilized any of the services except the basic tanning beds, but plan to add the red light therapy to my routine soon. Without a doubt, this pre-commute break has saved me from lapsing into an uncontrollable episode of road rage on many occasions. The employees know every returniung customers name and the bed they prefer...... The also make sure that the tanning rooms and beds are cleaned to the standard that you use at home...... The staff at Tropical Tan are great, however there has always been a problem with changing the bulbs prior to people complaining. The newest problem is with the addition of persons with gym memberships. They are allowed to use the basic beds for free with the gym membership. It is often difficult for the Sun Club people to get a basic bed. Just today, I cancelled my Sun Club Membership due to some issues with very poor business practices. I will not tan with Tropical Tan again, after four years as a loyal customer. read more
