Great local spot to grab a nice sandwich and cup of coffee. The staff were very friendly and it's not so busy that we had to wait long. I ordered the turkey reuben, and others order some breakfast platters. We enjoyed it very much, and I'll make sure to come back for an early lunch (cause I missed the chicken salad by 1 person)!

Today was one of those days that I felt like driving some unfamiliar county roads with the top down and soaking up the sun. I ended up in a quaint little town called Woodsboro outside of Fredrick. I read the Yelp reviews and started getting hungry. I had to try me some scrapple at a minimum so in I went. I sat myself in the patriotic themed restaurant and was promptly greeted by Stephanie. She left me with the menu and quickly returned with my diet coke. The menu listed "puddin" as one of the sides and I asked what that was. She said it was like ground up scrapple with lots of salt. I was feeling decadent and ordered the three egg omelet with 3/4 of a pound of bacon, ham and scrapple with Swiss...forgot the name. The meal came out piping hot in what seemed like a few minutes. I asked for hot sauce and a side of old bay. This was going to be great. Although Stephanie said the old bay was an additional 50¢ which I've never heard of. The omelet was huge and surrounded by a side of potatoes and onions, with the two pieces of scrapple calling for my attention. The omelet was stuffed to the brim and just needed a bath in hot sauce and sprinkles of old bay. It was so delish. My appetite has been low due to health crap but I plowed through that omelet, potatoes and one piece of scrapple. Stephanie said "you're doing great" before I finally threw in the towel. This place was a perfect destination for me and hopefully for you too. I'm sitting in my car writing this review with my little take out box of scrapple riding shotgun. I'm wondering if it's going to make it to my refrigerator or mysteriously disappear on the ride home. What's your money on?

Rarely do I enjoy a restaurant with a theme, but Trout's does it right. The theme is military service, and they go all the way with it. Opened by a vet, Trout's has tributes to our service men and women all over the restaurant: from portraits on the wall, to the red white and blue curtains, to displays of medals, to pictures of famous generals and leaders, to the names of dishes on their menu (Ranger Omelet Hooahh!). There was even a nice painting in the ladies room of a solider reading a card huddled somewhere on duty, and you look closer to see it's a mother's day card and the solider is a lady solider. Kinda touching, but I'm a softy. I say, if you're doing a theme you have to go all in on it, and Trout's definitely does. On to the food, I had a veggie omelet which was huge, very filling, and well prepared, and came with grits and a biscuit. Definitely get an order of breakfast potatoes with onions because they are freaking amazing. No seriously, you have to try these things. Coffee was also good..... basically everything here is good, including the service. Our waitress was so friendly, checked on us often and made us feel welcomed. Open every day until 2 PM, if you're in the area you should stop by Trout's.

I cannot say enough good things about this little gem in Woodsboro MD. The atmosphere was delightful and has a hometown charm. There are two walls with photos of local servicemen. I was expecting a run-of-the-mill menu however pleasantly surprised with the creative selection to choose from. We started with a cinnamon roll which completely filled a lunch size plate. You could definitely tell it was homemade by the freshness. The roll was dripping in warm icing. My mouth was actually watering as I was eating it. The entrees were large portions. Even my crab omelette, which I ordered the smaller portion, was very filling. They didn't skimp on the crab or cheese. Perfectly seasoned with Old Bay. Their home fries are seasoned and has sweet onions (you can order without the onions however they are really good). The large platter had a little bit of everything and was a whole lot of good food. The plate was larger than a basketball and as you can see filled completely. It's a small restaurant (~15 tables) however due to COVID restrictions not all tables are in use. There is outside dining which looks nice and would be perfect on a nice day.

Was so excited to try a small local diner on my trip to Woodsboro after driving just to take a look around and go for a hike at the park because there's also a Woodsboro Texas. The diner was quaint, server was friendly and attentive. The food looked amazing upon presentation and everything was great except for the "homemade" cream chipped beef which was more milk sauce it needs to be thick guys. Thicken it and it will be better. I promise.

A Patriotic Restaurant! This is their inside seating. Also have outside seating.

Made a reservation not like you really need one, but we made one and was seated down pretty quickly. The host was nice and friendly and the wait staff said hello to us within the five minutes of us seating. I appreciated how family-friendly this place was, they give these cute little animal boxes with different things inside and crayons to keep the kids entertained. The decoration is fun with a lot of outdoor vibes and stuffed real animals. They bring out a side of chip and a yogurt dill dip that's interesting, a fun idea. The food, mhm so we ordered a lot! Crab dip: 2.5/5 not too bad but not memorable, okay amount of crab, flavors were too heavy on the cream cheese/fillers but just okay, they need more bread with it but the chips helped. Prob wouldn't order again Crab cake: 3.8/5 pretty good size and good amount of crab and good flavor probably the best dish that we had ordered here! Would get again. Burger: 3/5 granted I did order this medium well for my kid, but the burger was charred a little too much around the burger, giving it a sort of dry crunch on the edges and charcoal burn vibes. Not my favorite texture that I would want on a burger, but perhaps it would've been different if I ordered a medium? Bread itself was a little stale/crunchy which I did not prefer how it was cooked/prepared. Overall, it was just okay. Ribs: 2.5/5 the ribs were half off ribs so I decided to go for it because of the good deal. But it was just okay, being that Blackhog barbecue is right next-door (thier dry rub ribs are amazing), I would hope that they would step up their barbecue rib game. For a " full rack" there were only nine bones and seemed a little smaller than what I'm used to. It's very heavy on the sauce which I didn't think was the best pairing and wasn't the best flavor bbq sauce. Overall, I wouldn't order it again. Steak kabob: 3.2/5 this was actually pretty tender for the cut of meat, I'm surprised that I didn't have to work for it so I was happy about that! The only criticism that we have is that the meat itself did not have that much flavor or seasoning and there's only one skewer of meat and one skewer of veggies. Meaning the total amount of meat that was probably on that dish was no more than 4 -5 ounces of steak. And for that price point, I would want a little bit more meat. Mac and Cheese: 3.5/5 pretty good for a kids Mac! Good cheese and flavor was impressed! Overall, the service and the host in the experience of being there was pretty good, but the food was a little lacking not sure if I would go again, but it was on our right experience in terms of food

Why?... Well, while the prime rib beef dinner was still was delicious the portion size of the beef was greatly reduced over what we've had there in the past. Both prime ribs were only about 1/2 inch thick... In the past they have been constantly been 3/4 inch thick and sometimes almost an inch thick. While they were done to our liking, one rare and one medium rare, both were a little on the tough side and not as tender as ones we've had there in the past. It was a chilly night on November 20th and I made a reservation for one of the tables close to the fireplace in the dining room. When we got there, the fireplace was not on. I asked some of the staff whether or not the fireplace could be turned on and they said it was too early. One staff member volunteered that yes, it was pretty cold in the whole dining area. Our server with Bonnie... And she was excellent. The bill for two prime rib dinners, one cup of onion soup, two additional side salads, one iced tea, and one diet cola came to $101 plus tip. Hoping that when I return again on a night when the Carriage House is serving prime rib that both the portion size and the quality will be what I remember from the past, not what I remember from last night.
