I would have given them 5 stars except the tire was priced almost 80 dollars over what Revzilla quoted me. I drove an hour to just get the fairing bolts to be told they close down for lunch, I would have to wait an hour...(never disclosed, argued said I hung up on him. I never did, socially awkward waited for him to have a response before I hung up to make sure they had time to see the bike just for the missing parts) When I asked to schedule an appointment to check the front tire (honestly seems like it just needs to be balanced) told him I couldn't drop the bike off I would have to make an appointment I live an hour away the man said no and walked away from his desk and away from me. I would not recommend troy city garage they said they did an oil change it was not done they said they ordered parts for my fairings to be properly mounted they didn't they just put zip ties on it they changed my clutch plates but they didn't soak them in oil or adjust my cable the right way after 100 mikes my clutch plate are no good and they said they wouldn't fix the problem now I have to pay 300 or more to get it don't right thanks alot troy city garage for raining my summer and putting my life at risk read more

Wow, the reviews talking about how poor the customer service is are dead on. I have never been treated so poorly in a shopping experience. As other customers have stated, expect your basic questions to be answered with an air and look of annoyance.. It was very obvious that the "gentleman" ( a passive aggressive worm) did not want to be bothered. Went to go with a friend to look at a used 4 wheeler that was over priced and they didn't even bother to clean off before putting on the floor. My friend showed interest but went to walk around for 5 minutes to make sure he wanted to buy it. He walked back over to tell the sales person that he was ready to do the paperwork and the guy was super rude and told my friend he already sold it to someone else. My friend said "okay but I was here first and told you I wanted it" he told us it didn't matter and he didn't give a shit. Let me put this place into perspective to you. This place is man heaven. This ain't no mom and pop operation. You walk in the door and there are literally rows upon rows upon roooows of toys. Motorcycles, sleds, dirtbikes, ATV's, you name it. There's easily $750,000+ worth of inventory inside this place. It's massive. And it's not junk. I'd say 95% of their inventory is brand spanking new. I live in CT, and saw an ad on Craigslist for a beautiful blue FZ6. I called Rich, who put it aside for me (I put down a $200 deposit), and I drove up today to pick it up. Rich was a pretty easy guy to deal with. A little on the dry side, but he was really nice. This place was really busy, so I had to wait 15 minutes or so before he could help me. Honestly they did seem understaffed. Seems like they had only two sales guys for the whole floor--the rest were either parts or service guys. However, waiting 15 minutes was fine, there were plenty of sweet bikes to drool over! Since I had the bike set aside he led me out back where they kept it for me and let me look it over. They let me start it up, and look it over from head to toe. It was honestly a really sweet bike, and for a killer price, too. I was able to negotiate $200 off since there were some small scratches on the front fairing and a few on the tank. I was in and out of there in about 45 minutes. No fuss no drama! I even walked out of there with all the service records. There were also no hidden dealer "convenience" fees like a car dealership normally ding you with. I did read all of these negative reviews before I went up there, and at first I was concerned, but I'm glad I went anyway! Honestly having the bike set aside for me in advance with a deposit already down probably saved me most of the headaches that the other reviewers have complained about. All of the bikes have signs on them saying do not sit on bikes. Please see salesman for help. Something like that. Went to parts desk and asked for assistance. The parts guy got a salesman for me and he seemed very bothered that he had to move 2 bikes out for me to sit on and get a feel for. The bikes are all so close together that you can't sit on them unless the salesman pulls them out. Didn't offer me any sales pitch and answered all my questions with minimal input. I am really surprised to see poor reviews of this business. I had a horrible experience with Sportline Power in Queensbury after a week of negotiating a trade and ATV purchase with a plow package. They kept quoting the wrong plow parts and winch and things had to be changed several times. After all was said and done they agreed to a trade and a price on my used bike AFTER they looked at it. THEN when I had the check cut at the bank they changed the deal and decreased the trade value by $300, he said this was because " we do trade values by committee", and the "committee" felt it wasn't worth the offer they initially gave me. I basically told them to take a leap and drove there to pick up my bike the next morning. Sooooo........I then searched online and found Troy City Motors. I gave them a call being a bit skeptical as I generally detest salespeople. I spoke to Rich at Troy City Garage and I will admit I was shocked. What a straight up guy and no nonsense whatsoever. I spoke with him on the phone and explained in detail what my trade was, I advised him of any flaws as well as add-ons I had purchased. He gave me a trade value over the phone with the understanding the value was based on our conversation. I told him what machine I was interested in purchasing as well as the plow system I wanted. He beat the price of the dealership in Queensbury. Entire phone conversation and emails took less than 45 minutes. I then drove down to the dealership with the motorcycle in tow on a trailer and was again hopeful he was as straight in person as he had been on the phone.... he didn't let me down. It was pouring rain outside and he assisted me backing the trailer into the garage, then they unloaded my bike for me so they could look it over. While in transit a handlebar grip had been rubbed a bit and in my mind was damaged, Rich looked at it and advised me it wasn't a big deal and the bike was as I said. He stuck to the deal he offered on the phone and within an hour we were loading a new Yamaha Grizzly 700 on the trailer. He advised me the plow parts would take a few days to come in which I expected, to my surprise he called me the next morning to tell me everything came in. Doing business here saved me nearly $500 and there were NO GAMES. Call me silly but I'll keep $500 in my pocket anytime I have the chance. A very positive experience and I would recommend this location to anyone that wants a straight forward no nonsense dealership. As far as I am concerned a dealership doesn't need to be warm and fuzzy as long as they are people that stick to their word and don't play games with customers. I will definitely never do business at Sportline Power in Queensbury, they were warm and fuzzy and then try to screw you and hope the fuzzy gets them what they want. This is a terrible, rude, family-owned business and according to current reviews, nothing has changed (I switched to Seymour's shortly after my purchase from Troy City). I've heard many 'horror stories' about these guys over the years and even personally witnessed a scuffle/near fist-fight break out once between a customer and an employee. My advice? Use this operation for "informational purposes only"; check out their prices, products and then do everything you can to buy elsewhere--even if it means spending a few extra bucks. I went there last weekend to buy a leftover brand new 2018 ninja 400 and it was a great experience. I saw the negative reviews but I had no issues like others stated. Some of them seem like they came to this place with a chip already on their shoulder or were upset they didn't read or ask about the store policies. Since the ninja 400 was a leftover, I got an excellent deal. Their website is phenomenal. Everything has accurate prices, they fully disclose the freight charges, so I knew exactly how much cash to bring to purchase the bike. I had been following their prices since last year and waited until I could get a 2018 leftover. The salesman (sorry can't remember the name -- older, tall, thin with glasses) was excellent. I personally don't like being hounded by salesmen when I walk into a store, so it didn't bother me that I had to call over the salesman. He was watching us, giving us time to look over the bike. He was very friendly, the purchase took maybe 15min, and they got the bike ready to load within 20 min. He also helped load it unto our truck and tie it down, which was really nice of him. My boyfriend was also interested in seeing their Kawi Z400 and the salesman took it out for him to sit on it. We never felt rushed, nor were we treated poorly or like idiots. My husband and I have been going to Troy City off and on for a couple of years but we've never purchased anything here before. Both of our bikes are from other places just based on what they had available. I was looking for a 125cc scooter and they had one at an excellent price. I went in last saturday to take a look at it, and that's where the problem with troy city lies. They never seem to have enough staff to take care of all of the customers waiting. I know that in cycle shops there are a lot of window shoppers (the type who've always wanted to buy a motorcycle but really never will). The scooter I was interested in they didn't have on the floor but they had another one in a different color so that was fine, but I had to wait 20 minutes for a salesman. When Jim was finally free he answered my questions but wasn't pushy at all. I went home to think about it and went back today and bought the scooter but once again Jim was the only person on the sales floor and I had to wait for him to get through a sales transaction with another customer. While I was finishing up there were about 3 other groups waiting to get info. If the price wasn't so good (1/3 off list) I don't know if I would have hung out and waited. read more

Ryan W.'s post is spot on. I have experienced the exact same. Price for the buy is great and they have the big 4(Honda / Yamaha / Kawasaki / Suzuki), but don't expect good service on the machine. However there are other dealers in the Captial District that will service and now I get my new from them. Service and Parts departments are just as important as the buy. To be honest I have even been mistreated on the new purchase. There is even a dealership named Phibbs that can get very close to Troy City's new prices anyway and you will be happy with the rest of Phibbs(Yamaha / Kawasaki) as well. If you want a Suzuki go to Seymour's. They also know how to treat people. read more

Troy City Garage was an ATV/Snowmobile paradise for this 35+ yr veteran to snowmbiling/ATV'ing. Pricing is transparent and straightforward without numerous hidden prices that pop up out of nowhere. I was able to finalize my pre-order Yamaha snowmobile deal online with just a few emails back and forth with Rich, just the way I like it with the limited amount of free time I have. Got a great deal the first time without investing 15 trips to a dealer having to haggle everything under the sun. I will absolutely be headed back to Troy City Garage when it's time to swap/update my Yamaha ATV's. read more

Had an issue just before a vacation trip I was taking on my cycle which only required "someone" at this dealership to tell me (via my phone call) the correct capacity of coolant in my 2009 Suzuki GSF1250S/Bandit. Was initially sent to the service department. The mechanic 1st tells me.."The bike is too old to find info on." I asked: "Too old...it's a 2009?" He then, reluctantly, puts me on hold...for an extended period. Comes back and tells me he can't find info on this bike. I asked him how would they be able to fill my bike themselves if I had brought it in for a "Flush & Refill"??? He then gets rude w/me...telling me they are "TOO BUSY TO HELP ME!" I responded with..."I'll remember this when I need another motorcycle." He then says; "Fine, You do that." ...and hangs up on me. I then call the showroom asking for the manager or owner. The guy on the other end says: "How can I help you?" I asked..."Are you the manager or owner?" He (in a very snotty tone) says: "That's why I asked you...HOW CAN I HELP YOU?" Well, I explained what happened with his service guy. Now, I did so in a very calm and diplomatic fashion. He then gets angry with me and goes off on a rant...telling me how the "Customers in his shop/showroom come first" and that "they have no time to help someone on the phone!" I tried to explain my situation...but he was not having any of it. I then told him the same thing I told his service guy..."I'll remember this when I need another motorcycle!" He then gets really angry (I can imagine him frothing at the mouth) and tells me...HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT MY BUSINESS...DOES NOT WANT MY BUSINESS...AND FOR ME NOT TO COME IN TO THEIR BUSINESS FOR ANY REASON! Hey...Maybe I was a customer already...maybe I had bought the bike there. They did not even ask. Will certainly NOT BE A CUSTOMER...EVER! I've bought motorcycles as far away as Georgia. WOW! Imagine...having such a good business that he does not care about mine...or yours for that matter (seeing that YOU might have the same or similar issue...requiring a simple look-up and response). I checked these guys out on Google Review and found a long and bad history with 50% of the people who posted comments about this dealership. THAT'S A VERY BAD %! Jim...The owner, whom I believe answered my phone call...as I recognized his voice from a video posted online a few years ago...He needs to either stay on his meds or take a course in Anger Management (or BOTH). JUST PLAIN RUDE & ARROGANT! I then called another Suzuki Franchise...and they were more very pleasant and informative. The shop manager also offer his direct email...if I had any other questions or concerns. I then mentioned to him my dismay w/Troy City. BTW... I was in this same business for over 11 years...Gen Mgr / Sales Mgr at a Suzuki franchise for 7 years and the same at a Honda franchise for 4 years. The good: This place is still in business for one reason and one reason only.....they offer very good prices on NEW machines. Almost everything is 5-10% below msrp, and they often offer deals, like a free winch for an atv or something similar. If you know what machine you want, and don't mind skimping on the service, you can score a good deal. The "meh" The parts department is well stocked, they've surprised me a few times by having an obscure/older part on hand. The staff here is reasonably friendly and generally pretty knowledgeable. If they have to order a part, they may or may not remember to call you when it comes in. Their parts prices suck....$7 for main jets? They're half that at Sportline. They've also tried to give me knock-off jets as well(they swapped it for a genuine when I called them on it), so pay attention. The crap: Everyone else who works here. I've never experienced so much "buy something or get out" attitude in my life. The couple salesmen are always chit-chatting in the corner and just look annoyed when they spot you. I asked one a couple basic questions about a bike, at which point he walked away, brought me a brochure, then left again. Oh, and don't even think about SITTING on any of the machines. The one dorky salesman will put on his best "I have to poop really bad" face and briskly walk over to you and point out the tattered papers they stick on every seat telling you to "seek assistance" before sitting. Go across to the street to the BMW dealer and they practically beg you to take a test drive, which is absolutely out of the question here. Even if you're waving a checkbook, no test drive. The service department here is famously incompetent as well. Don't even think about bringing machines here to get fixed. See that dirt path up the hill behind the shop? There's a mini mx track up there for them to joyride your shit, which explains why my friend's quad(which went in for a routine maintenance) came back much dirtier than it went in, and had all sorts of scrapes and nicks on the fenders. It also now leaked oil since someone put the drain plug in barely finger tight. The chain wasn't greased, and had been "adjusted" rubber-band tight. And the rear bearings hadn't been changed, which was specifically asked for. When called on it, they lied and said they did change them, but he must have "done something" to make them totally loose again in 2 days. Right. The service manager lies to your face and think because he finally figured out which way a carburetor goes in that every customer is completely ignorant, the way he "talks down" to people(with inaccurate facts/straight BS) is amazing. The good is they carry all the major brands(honda/kawi/suzuki/yamaha), and have a decent parts counter. They're also convenient, don't have to go down into Albany out all the way out to Ronnie's. The bad is everything else, so keep that in mind before you patronize this place. read more

I was buying the bike regardless but part of me wishes I had walked out just because of how rude the sales person was towards me. I am trying to think of something good to say about this place. I took my wife's Motorcycle there to have a Cross Shaft Seal replaced, and a tire, and check over. The work was done in a decent amount of time and with the Seal, Tire, Chain and Front Sprocket (they said was needed), we got out of there at around $500. That was November 2013. We wanted to have plenty of time before going to Daytona Bike Week. Well, Bike Week was 90 days after the repairs, and the first chance my wife had to ride this year. At Daytona we rode around accumulating about 600 miles, and the seal on her bike blew again. At least ... oil was gushing out of the same place as the original problem. When we got back I called Troy City Garage and talked with two different service people. Long story short, they have a 90 day warranty on parts and labor, and I would have to prove no abuse on our part, and then they would still have to look at it. We have snow here in this area and my wife did not ride at all during their 90 day warranty time. There is no mileage statement in the warranty; only time. The service people would not answer direct questions, they would not even consider that the seal they replaced was bad, and so I wished them a nice day and hung up, rather than saying something I would regret saying. I will not go back to that place, and I will not recommend that you go there. I cannot afford to have a 'professional' garage repair my equipment wrong. Shame on them. I purchased a leftover 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan from TCG. I'll start with the good: The Good: the prices at this place are the best around, as previously mentioned the prices on NEW machines are well under MSRP. You get great deals for leftovers as well even though they're brand new machines The Bad: When i went in to look at a bike i was the only person in the building. All of the sale staff were either standing around or sitting at there desks watching me. I made it very clear i wanted to speak with a salesperson regarding a bike (researched the bike i wanted and knew it was there). After about a good 10-15 minutes a salesman finally came over only after he saw me touching the bike and wanted to tell me i wasn't allowed to sit on it without a salesperson present. So i decided on the bike and proceeded to fill out the paperwork. The salesman was not very communicative and didn't really say anything to me. He barely made eye contact, not very good salesman tactics if i do say so myself. So now i have my bike purchased and had a jolly good time riding around, the season came and went so fast. The following season i called up TCG to schedule some maintenance, usual oil change and all that business. I made it VERY clear i had no ride so i would have to wait for the bike. They gave me an appointment and all was set. I bring my bike up for the appointment and had to wait at the service counter for a good 20-25 minutes before being greeted. I stated my business and the person helping me asked "your leaving it right' i said no because i had no other ride. He said it was too close to closing time for them to get to the bike so i would have to leave it. Again the staff was very unpleasant and made it seem as though i was inconveniencing them because i brought my bike there. Yes the prices are good and if you're willing to put up with grumpy ass employees go here, i had a MUCH better experience at Ronnies in guilderland where i purchased my second bike. They''re very friendly and VERY helpful, yeah they only carry used stock but they have pretty decent prices as well. I would recommend going there over this place any day. read more

I went in the for the first time in December of 2012. I was looking to buy a Yamaha Grizzly 700 EPS with a plow. The salesman was a condescending dick. I asked him if he could sell it to me and I install the winch and plow. He said absolutely not. He sited as being way to difficult for me to do. "it has relays and things". Having not been given the benefit of the doubt. They didn't know I was a Senior Master technician. So I went to another local Yamaha dealer to spend my $10,200. I went in again to buy an air filter for my 2012 Yamaha 700. I had to special order it. Hard to believe you don't stock and air filter. I went in to give it a try one more time. (June 2015)I wanted to buy 2 Yamaha TT50 Motorcylces for my 2 boys (7&8). He looked like he was going to self implode when the boys touched it. I understand this is his inventory and valuable. He could use a little more diplomacy other than being annoyed that a 7 and 8 year old excited boy has a hard time with instructions. So I am off to another dealer to buy 2 TTR50 machines. I wish I liked them as I live in Grafton and they are the closest dealer. I will not be doing business there again. read more
