    Gluten free Monte Cristo
    Tara R.

My friend suggested we meet for breakfast and chose this place. When I saw how many options are available gluten free, I was sold. Staff were attentive and helpful. My friend and I both ordered a Monte Cristo, mine was gluten free and theirs was regular. We both really enjoyed our meals. The place started to pick up right around when we left. The women's bathroom has an interesting design/layout. I will definitely be back to try more items.

Overall a good experience from food to service. Ordered chorizo skillet which I was told was a good amount of food for the price. I came with two eggs, chorizo, hot sauce on side, skillet potatoes, and your choice of toast or pancakes. We got pancakes for 3$ more. It was worth the upcharge. The skillet itself was indeed a good amount of food but I had no problem finishing it. The waitress was nice and addressed all our needs. It quickly became busy around 930am on a Sunday.

Went there for breakfast today and this is now my new favorite spot. Had the Dubai chocolate pancake there with apple cinnamon French toast, chicken cordon blue omelette. All items were amazing. The omelette was probably the best we have had in a while. Service was good too, we were early enough to beat the crowd so were seated promptly. By 10am this was almost full to have a waiting beyond. Will come back here for sure.

Second visit! Excellent experience still. The omelette was HUGE! Filled with incidents and tasted amazing. Even has guac inside the omelette, very unique! The pancake also delicious. Not too sweet and not too boring. Berries are fresh and sweet. Service and ambiance excellent as well! Great breakfast spot in town

Busy and popular diner spot! Loved the different pancake flavors, and loved that you can make your side of pancakes a specialty pancake. I got a skillet and side of apple pancakes. The pancakes were my favorite and I will be back for those. Staff is friendly, kind, and attentive; kept our water glasses full.

The last time I was here was probably about 10 years ago and I remember not really enjoying it. Today was an entirely different experience. Very friendly staff, clean bright interior, and we were seated immediately even though they were pretty busy. I ordered the Greek chicken wrap with sweet potato fries. The wrap was delicious and packed with ingredients. My husband had the chilafry (middle eastern specialty dish that we eat for breakfast). It was seasoned well and even though my grandma makes it the best, I thought it was pretty good for a restaurant. We shared the fruit crepes and I appreciate that they used fresh fruit rather than that gross jellified fruit that a lot of breakfast places use. With a coffee, this meal came out to $54 which is a little high but the portion sizes are great and the food was too. I would definitely return to try more of the menu.

Good food. Prices are moderately high. Service was kind. They are busy on the weekend so please have patience for them. Menu is BIG. Not a ton of tables, and only so many for groups bigger than 4.

First time coming and went on a Friday morning. Place was packed for a work day but got seated right away. The staff was super nice and friendly and the place was clean. I ordered the farmhouse omelette it was soooo good I ate the whole thing my friend got an omelette as well she got the turkey one. I had the pancake side the day after and they were just as delicious will have to be back and try out some other items.

When you're traveling with 5 and 1 infant on the 4th of July, craving brunch, and have someone who needs a gluten free option, where do you go? To Johnny Cakes Cafe! Food: frutopia GF pancakes were on point; they were huge, delicious, and did I mention GF?! The omelettes looked good; portions were massive. Plates weren't cleaned but no one complained. Service: Friendly! We had to remind our waitress to bring out one item, and unfortunately she didn't let us know they were out of the soup until our bill came (and one in the party obviously didn't get it). Ambiance: I don't think you come here for the ambiance. It's super casual. Could have been better cleaned between parties. But the space was conducive to a large group. We had a 30 min wait. I'd come back if I were staying in the area; there are so many more pancakes and French toast options to try!

Was excited to try this place. Their menu is huge with a great selection of savory and sweet options. The omelette I had was incredibly dry. The hashbrowns that came with it were a bit undercooked. I also tried the pumpkin french toast which was one of their seasonal items. It was pretty good without being overly sweet. The space was clean and service was great.

Took my mom here for lunch, and we were not impressed. Their prices for sandwiches and salads started at $11, so I was expecting some good food. My mom got the cobb salad, the lettuce was wilted and the cucumbers slimy. She ate the bacon off the salad, but didn't want to be a nuisance and send the salad back or have it taken off the menu. I, on the other hand, wanted to turn up, but I respected my mother's wishes. My chicken sandwich was so greasy, but we ended up splitting that for our lunch. From the reviews, it sounds like this may be a place to go for breakfast, but in my opinion, it certainly is not worth it for luch. lunch

I ordered the "Double Trouble" -- French toast loaded with cookie dough, Oreos, Nutella, and chocolate sauce. Let me just say... that dish is a train straight to diabetes. In all seriousness, it was absolutely delicious and indulgent, but definitely on the overly sweet side. If you have a serious sweet tooth, this one's for you. My wife went with the Classic Eggs Benedict, and that was excellent -- well-balanced flavors and cooked just right. The breakfast potatoes, however, were a bit bland. They were cooked well texture-wise but could definitely use more seasoning. Service was so-so, though it seemed like they were pretty busy, which likely played a role. The location is great -- conveniently about a mile from Woodside Church, one of the largest churches in Michigan -- so I can imagine it gets especially packed on weekends. One important note: restroom maintenance needs attention. With only a single restroom per gender, cleanliness is critical. My wife noticed the toilet seat wasn't clean, which is something that should be addressed promptly, especially in a high-traffic establishment. Overall, the food quality was strong, particularly the main dishes, and we'd likely return -- but there are definitely a few operational details that could elevate the experience.

tl;dr a fantastic little cafe serving really delicious crepes with super friendly service…read more Ambiance (5/5): I came to the cafe on a Friday morning to have a little breakfast and do a little computer work, so the cafe was fairly quiet with French music playing at a medium volume (you're aware of it but you won't need to talk too loudly to converse). As super lovely and relaxing vibe. They have a counter that says "Order Here" but there was one other table who ordered at their table and received the check at the end of their meal like regular table service. They offer a guest WiFi network, but definitely would not recommend taking any meetings or calls from this space; it's definitely not that kind of cafe! Food (5/5): I ordered the French Classic, which is egg, cheddar, and ham. It was SO delicious and generously portioned. I honestly didn't expect to feel so full, especially since this crepe wasn't as filled as some of the other ones on the menu, but wow! The crepe itself has a very lovely flavor and well complimented by the thin layer of egg inside. (Sidenote: I've gone back another time since I started writing this review, this time trying the 9am and the Lean Machine crepes. Both tasty and generous with the fillings, but I think the French Classic is still my favorite among the three. You get to taste the crepe itself more, and it's really good!) Service (5/5): I had very obviously portioned off and set aside half the crepe to take home and the staff very skillfully clocked it and handed me a box for it without me even asking. Everyone there is so friendly and attentive, and it really makes me want to keep coming back (and I will!).

They get them both right! First time, I got the Spinach, avocado and Swiss omelette, and my driver got the Fruit explosion crepes. We shared, of course. I'm not a potato person, so I always substitute tomatoes for potatoes, when they let me. Their tomatoes were good quality, sweet-ish, not mealy, or too snotty.
