Went to the deli blind not knowing what to expect but my goodness was it amazing and to top it off even better customer service!

I worked for 3 months, the cleanliness, disrespect amount the ,3 older women preparing sandwiches, etc was downright workplace harrasment. I've seen sandwich knives drop on the floor mates, wiped off with dirty dishrag the lady used and went on to making sandwiches. Their lettuce and romaine lettuce is always disgusting, we had to pick out bad stuff a lot. The fruit salad was not fresh fruit. And I agree, Mike was creepy. So many sandwiches to choose from so little time. Great selection of fresh made to order deli but borderline gourmet sandwiches and salads. Very friendly, helpful and patient staff. I say patient because it's sometimes hard to decide. Modest prices but kinda weak hours. They close after lunch so get there by 3pm. read more

We were having a party and waited too long to order food. They were happy to help at the last minute. Several trays of meats, cheeses, salads, pickles/olives were beautifully put together. I have never had a bad experience with the Troy Deli after over a dozen visits. The portions are enormous. The prices are shockingly low. The service is always friendly. I thought the place was closed when I walked in. I tried it anyway. Seems like it is about to go out of business. Pastrami should be warm on rye with the cole slaw and russian. Instead it was all cooked as one on the flat top. Pickles are ala carte and you get a ton for 65 cents. It was weird. Pastrami was chewy. A Whole sandwich is really two small ones. I have been here one time for a quick lunch. I had the tuna fish. The sand which was good but l nothing special. The friend I was with had a a turkey sandwich and she loved it. It can be a bit confusing which counter location to go to when ordering. It took a few minutes for someone to greet us and guide us to the proper ordering spot. Used them many times for lunch for the office. Had a couple issues with them delivering extremely late. We tried again today and they did a good job. Let's get down to the real reason... I really love this place if you are looking for a sandwich. They have many choices for all. They use bread that is amazing and not sure if made in house or brought in but makes the sandwich that much delicious. A little more expensive but worth it. Soups are also good. These are some pretty good sandwiches. I had the proud mary which is essentially a turkey club. I ordered the half, which is pretty much a full sandwich. If you order the whole, you get two. They have a very wide selection of sandwiches, so there's a lot to try. This place seems to always be full around lunch time, but the sanwiches are made pretty quickly. Kinda torn here. I had two sandwiches here recently. The first one was an excellent turkey sub and deserved five stars...The second one was turkey again, but the last quarter of the sandwich was almost pure, chewy fat which is really rare to see in deli turkey... and completely gross. I wish they would've checked their meat a little better before serving something like that, but benefit of the doubt that they just missed it that time would have me give them three stars for that visit. I just don't like it... I've been multiple times at lunch with coworkers and I was never pleased. They were every time though, which to me is inexplicable. It's always busy and we had to wait in line to order sandwiches. This would be acceptable to me if the food was good, but mine was always bad. The menu does not differentiate between hot and cold sandwiches. The cold sandwiches are served on a large bun which is apparently (per my coworkers) quite good. The hot sandwiches are served on a smaller plain white bread bun, which is not very good. Somehow I managed to order a hot sandwich every time. I'm not certain, but I believe all of the sandwiches with veggies are cold and all of them with a sauce are hot. I like sauces, but I do not like mediocre sandwiches, so I will not be back. I honestly prefer quiznos or jimmy johns over Troy Deli anyday, but if you're in the area and looking for a good sandwich I highly recommend Al's Famous Deli or the Onion Roll, both on Woodward in Royal Oak. read more

Amazing! Tried this place on a Sat afternoon and I must agree, this was a great decision after Burn. Ordered a 73 and a tossed chicken salad. I wished the Spicy cheesesteak was spicier than it was but nonetheless, it was great. Meat on every corner of the soft baguette. Grilled chicken in the chicken salad was tender and juicy. The menu is huge! If you can't find something to eat here then your to picky and you will never be satisfies. The sandwiches are great and you definitely get your money's worth. I had the #9 (old blue eyes) the peppers on the sub gave it just enough kick and the bread was very good. Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. Another great Troy establishment...I love this place. The sandwiches are always made fresh, they are cheap and large. Get the full (which is actually two sandwiches) and take the second one home to eat later. I always try to branch out and try a new one but I tend to stick to the staples. I have never had one I didn't enjoy. If you live or work in Troy, head here for lunch or order it to the office. Sucks that they close in the early afternoon. I order from Troy Deli for client meetings whenever I can. The food is great, there's plenty of it and you can't beat their prices. Delivery has been on time, every time. I work in downtown Birmingham and options are limited for places that deliver and will satisfy a group of people. A co-worker suggested Troy Deli. I never would have thought to try them because of their proximity to our office. But they are really accommodating,great food at a great price. Sadly...disappointing. haven't been here in 3 years and was very excited to have my boyfriend experience what used to be out of the world. Chicken and dumpling soup was very bland and too hot. Sitting on high heat killed the soup and broke everything down. My simple sandwich was missing the bacon...and really wasn't anything amazing. As mentioned before, HUGE sandwiches. You could share their "half" size sandwich with another person and both of you would be full. It's so big they cut it in half. If you get a full you're set for lunch and dinner. Yummy and soo many options. Staff is always very courteous and friendly. My only complaint is the lack of nutritional info. I really wish more places would start doing that even when they are not legally obligated to do so.
