We have been going to open gym for a few months. It is always clean and fortunately the kids have not gotten sick after, like other germ fest places. Workers are ok during open gym. We started class a month ago for our 5 year old son. The teacher has been very good and works with all the kids. I would say the worst part is some kids behaving badly and using it as recess instead of gymnastics. For 5-6 year olds they get to do fun things and play on fun equipment I wish I had as a kid. We have had a good experience so far. I do wish the watching areas were updated a little as they still look like an old warehouse. read more

I have been attending Troy Gymnastics with my grandson for 6 weeks-their open gym time. I have recommended and brought over 6 other small children from the wonderful Gymboree program that they have outgrown. Upon coming in today to partake in the Open Gym time, I was told that I owed a $25.00 yearly registration fee. I only had an American Express card and my checkbook, but was told they took neither. I asked if I could pay this fee when we attend the Open Gym next week, but was told "No." We could not attend Open Gym today, if we did not pay. I asked to speak to the owner or manager to see if he could afford me a courtesy until next week, and he also said, "No." "No" for a meager $25.00 fee-you would not allow us to play. When you are dealing with a toddler expectation, and not given any fair warning that you have to pay a yearly fee, it is very unreasonable that the owner could not extend the courtesy to a customer who has been attending for 3 months already-same day and time, who says that they will be paying next time! The desk staff had no empathy and seemed to revel in the fact that we could not play! I asked to speak to the owner myself, but was then told that he was in a meeting and could not speak to me directly. This is, to me, an egregious way to treat a customer. No care or concern or consideration for the child, or trust that a previously paying customer would indeed pay the next week. I felt very disrespected and disappointed with this haphazard customer service. If my grandson did not enjoy this place so much, we would never return-but I will acquiesce to his enjoyment. The only saving grace for this place is Julian-the really wonderful, thoughtful and attentive staff member that watches over the kids during open gym. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but I was so shocked by the two existing reviews that I had to give our experience! We love it!! TG is a bit of a drive for us. In fact, we pass two other gyms (that we tried and left) on the way there, but it is worth it. I have one child who is very serious about his gymnastics, and he has received excellent instruction. My other son is only there to have fun and get some exercise. TG consistently meets both of their needs, and we've been going there for almost 4 years now! Although some coaches work better with them than others (based on the personality of my kids--one outgoing and one very shy), they are all talented coaches. The Parents Night Out and SNL activities are a huge hit with my kids--they never want to miss one--and it's a great deal for us to have a night out. We have cancelled classes in the past, and every time they have given us a credit to try something else. That has never been a problem--they've always been flexible. They've also taken my kids last-minute at camps and other events. Couldn't say enough good things. It's a wonderful place to start a gymnast! UPDATE: I now understand a bit more about what the previous reviewers said. We brought a friend with us to camp, and there was some confusion over payment. I've been taking my kids there since they were toddlers, and the child we brought with us had also taken a class and had an up-to-date membership. When they weren't able to get an immediate payment authorization, they removed the child from the camp. When her mother sought clarification on the phone with the director/owner (she wanted to know why her child was pulled and get clarification on payment since she had called and registered the day before), she was berated and told he wasn't even sure if her child was there--"someone probably came in and took her" and then she "isn't a good fit" for their facility. What really bothers me about this situation is that previous to this we've only had good experiences, and on this particular day the child we brought happened to be from a minority. I'm sure others could write about how their minority children have had a wonderful experience, but I am in the unique position of having seen how the staff treats white vs. African American families. I have NOTHING bad to say about the coaching staff--they are excellent, but we can't go back after what happened. My children have been going here for over 3 years. We took a break for a couple months due to other classes and their AWFUL makeup policy. Now, we have to be reevaluated in order for my girls to resume the classes they were in and they have NO CLASSES on the week-ends at all to accommodate my younger daughter. I have a 6th grader who has been going to Troy for about 3 and a half years she started out in a rec class and quickly advanced to higher levels with the amazing coaching she has been loving it and one of her good friends that was in her class with her switched out and went when to their tnt team who many of her friends are on rec or team and love it my daughter decided to move to tnt rec witch she did until the team season started and decided to try it out she absolutely loves tnt. The head coach couldn't be more helpful and flexible and all the coaches and upper level teams are so nice and helpful the younger teams are so sweet and kind. She often misses practices for her siblings sports so she does makeups witch she can easily go into and tnt class with a quick email to the head coach and in the summer the kids have a choice once they get to a high enough level they can all day practices and along with being flexible you can easily do one full day and one half day all summer My daughter completely loves it and couldn't be more excited to go and learn new things every single time she goes she comes home with a new skill at least once a week and what she worked on and how she could just barely do a backhand spring in August under a year later is doing up to 8-9 backhand springs in a row I completely recommend tnt and Troy Gymnastics for everyone it will give your child so many benefits including flexibility strength and agility. read more

One of my son's kindergarten classmates went to TG and despite the ambivalent, unenthusiastic review from her mom about it, I decided to have him try it out, only bc they had many times to choose from so it was easy to find one that fit his packed schedule. I figured the girl's mom probably just had much higher standards for a gymnastics class than I did and we would have different instructors anyway. First, TG is highly inflexible about letting a kid try out a class and even just pay for one class to try it out. You have to pay for the entire session up front and if your kid hates it, you're SOL. So whatever, I sign him up thinking how bad could it be. Of course, any time you say that, things always turn out that bad. The instructors are awful! He had two of them. One of them was completely uninterested in teaching the kids. He just stood there and the kids ran around aimlessly. He made a few half assed attempts to get the kids to do some stuff, but it amounted to nothing. I confronted him after class and he told me that it was my son's fault because he told him what to do but he didn't do it. Hello, you imbecile, he needs to be TAUGHT That's why he's taking a CLASS in gymnastics. What am I paying you for? Then I switched him to a different class thinking it was just a fluke. Well, the other instructor was also bad, but in the opposite way. This guy was a complete control freak and yelled at the kids. It's so ridiculous that its almost amusing how bad these instructors are. So fine, this isn't for us, I'll just cancel and get the prorated refund, right? Yeah, no. Once you pay, you are guaranteed to get no money back. I think it must be a policy necessary to their survival, because I can't believe people actually stay here long term. I talked to some of the parents from the same classes and they are also not continuing after this session because of the poor instruction. TG offers a ton of classes that can accommodate any schedule, but they staff poorly trained individuals who know little to nothing about teaching kids. Perhaps they are gymnasts, but that doesn't do the students much good. This place is all about quantity, not quality. I will probably grudgingly have my son finish out the session even tho it seems like it is a waste of time. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with standards or anyone who wants their kids to learn gymnastics. I probably wouldn't have written a review at all if they would have at least let us drop out and refunded the remainder. Then I MAYBE might even be somewhat inclined to try a different class and different instructor. It is this policy that is sharply out of the consumer's favor that I think really makes this business deserve an honest heads up review so that people know what they are getting before they hand over their hard earned money. I liked the classes and the teachers but after I had 3 kids in classes for more than one session each, the office called me and said I had an outstanding balance of $4. I called back (we paid in full on my husband's credit card, they don't allow partial payments) and they said it was some sort of error on their part. I approved the $4 charge but afterward I realized how insane that was. It was $4! We spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars at this place. My 4 year old keeps asking to take gymnastics classes, I'm going to have to find someplace else. read more

I don't understand the fees here, to bring your kids for an open play during the week occasionally you are obligated to pay the typical daily rate (which I have no problem with). BUT than you have to also pay a annual 25 dollar fee (PER kid!) To cover insurance liabilities. So in other words, they have the customers paying for THEIR insurance. I take my 3 kids to many play places and have never had to pay the establishments insurance lol not to mention the place is dirty & everything is worn out. The pads are ripped/torn, floors are popping up throughout the entire building, carpet is dirty. read more

My nearly three year old has been going to Troy Gymnastics for over a year now. The only negative thing I could possibly come up with is the cost ($$$). Everything else has been great. The coaches have all been amazing (we've worked with quite a few if them). My daughter has really developed a lot of physical and social skills. It is the hi light of her week. We've also attended a birthday party here which was a blast too. No plans to leave this gym any time soon. read more

We have done both classes and open Gym there. Classes: The instructors are not engaging with the kids and look miserable to even be there. For the amount you pay for a 9 week class, one would expect results. In a nutshell there was no results, except they wanted us to sign up again. No Thanks. And Open Gym...$5 sounds great but after the first freebie time, they want you to pay a $25 annual fee per kid, it doesn't matter if you just go for the open gym hours. We attend open Gym maybe 3 times a year, this fee make NO sense. It's a rip off, unsafe, and unfriendly. I do not recommend it and will NEVER return. read more

I love this place. We had our son's first birthday here. We shopped around for a place with decent pricing that didn't have a limit on how many people we could invite (they say 20 children- which was more than any other place, but they also let us bring adults and they didn't count toward the 20). The bonus was that we didn't have to do any work! We had 2 coaches that set up, watched the kiddos, and cleaned up after us. We decided to attend a 6 week class after that. We had a very experience and kind coach who had a ton of patience with the little ones. We took another class when he turned 2 and had a male coach who was awesome! Our son even started doing somersaults at home! We haven't attended any classes in a while but we love going to open gyms- especially the preschool aged gyms they have during the week. I highly suggest doing any of the activities they offer with your little one! read more

My daughter has been attending one of their gymnastics classes, and I was happy with the overall experience. Recently, we experienced a snow-day and my son came along. I asked if it was possible to pay for just that day, so he could partake in the kids' activities. I was told that it was not possible, and that we could come back for open gym. I understand there are policies set in place, but perhaps there should be some leniency on a snow day, when the instructor only has 3 children in class. I would have let the entire experience go until 3 girls ran into the play area. Visibly confused, I was instructed that these were the boss' kids. My 5 year old watched anxiously in the waiting area, while the other children played. I am very disappointed, as are the other Moms that were waiting also. I will definitely not be signing up for any future classes, and will let others know the terrible experience we had. read more

first time i walked in the staff had no answers to my questions and acted clueless they were rude and the gym was smelly and unclean! from now on my children are going to Total Sports Fitness which is way better than this small smelly room!!!!!!!!! read more
