This place is where customer service training class flunkees go to get a job. My husband has been getting service here since buying his car, and so today we dropped off his car for an oil change, intending to run errands in my car and then pick his up as soon as it was done. The service guy smirked and made a comment along the lines of "Oh, getting the wifey's oil changed today too?" I've had some bad experiences in the past with car dealerships treating me like an idiot because I'm a woman, so when my husband mentioned the comment to me, I was furious. I don't care how funny you think you are, I don't care if you don't mean offense, there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for referring to a CUSTOMER, paying or potentially paying, in any kind of a derogatory manner. If you are at work, and work in customer service, ACT LIKE IT. The only thing you should be calling a woman who is your customer is either ma'am or Ms. (Name), unless they tell you otherwise. My husband had given them my cell phone number to call when the car was done. The caller must have had blazing green dollar signs shooting out of his ears when the "Wifey" answered the phone, because he promptly gave me the most jolly BS upsell I've heard since Belle Tire. He was stunned into silence when I told him that would NOT be happening today, and asked if my husband's car was ready. Um, no...they still had to do the paperwork and, um... We showed up at the dealership about fifteen minutes later, and the paperwork was ready...but there were no keys. Husband pays and is sent elsewhere to get the keys. Elsewhere won't turn over the keys until he pays. Husband points out how ridiculous this is before finally getting his car. Places like this are what give car dealerships their smarmy reputation. Run far, far away from this one. read more

You still get one star, Troy Honda. After my dad called corporate about the poor service, they offered to do the rear brakes (that were worn down to the metal after only 26k miles because of the aforementioned recall) for fairly cheap. We dropped off the car the night before, but they never told us where the key drop box was. So, my mom went back at 8:45am in the morning and got all set. No apology from the service manager, Rich, who took care of our issue. We waited until 5pm, with no call from them to let us know service was done. 8 hours to do rear brakes? Yeah,no. I called them about 5:15 and they said "Oh, the cars done, we were just about to call you". Problem is, Rich said there were only 3 cars ahead of us, and it should be ready around lunch time. Don't go here for service. Hell, don't buy a car here. If their service department is this poorly managed, I can't imagine how terrible the sales floor would be. read more

This place really shouldn't even get one star for customer service. Dan in finance has absolutely no concept of customer service. We finalized the deal and when we went to pay for it in the finance department we had to deal with Dan. He thought we were going to finance the car but when we told him we are going to pay cash, he flicked his monitor and said "oookkkk whatever". We almost walked out without buying the car but our salesman Bill stepped in and took care of us. An absolute terrible experience. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. I had a good experience here. I was looking for the 2016 HRV EXL NAVIGATION model and they didn't have it available at the time. Harry Merced (the sales representative that helped me) was very diligent in looking for it according to my needs. Troy honda actually had to arrange a trade so that i could have my car on time. Overall it was a good experience; my only complaint is that they can get really busy and they might not be able to take your calls, so you have to be patient. read more

Dan the sales manager was unprofessional and borderline unethical when he offered me a rate of 13% on a new car purchase I naturally asked what bank the approval was with and he responded with why am I asking? I was looking to change my Civic for a SUV. John Yost had helped me a few years ago to buy the Civic. I had such a great experience with him that I reached back out to him again. We talked and emailed about different options and my budget which was super important. We found the best solution for me, leasing a CR-V Hybrid. I'm so happy with my vehicle! Especially because we kept my same financing payment which was KEY for me, and I even got money back from trading in my Civic. John took the time to go over all the features with me, and I felt so comfortable driving away in it. I am very disappointed in Troy Honda. I was looking for a new dealership to service my Honda. I made a 4:00pm appointment online for an oil change. I arrived early and waited for a while for someone to check me in. I was told that my appointment was erased and that they were too backed up to take my car. The service person also said that the online appointments were unreliable. There were no apologies or accommodations offered for my inconvenience. I will not give them my business. read more

I was searching for a Certified 16 Honda Accord, and found one at Troy Honda. Set up a review with their salesman, Bill Ladd, in late January. Bill had the car ready on time, and I did a walk around. After finding a few minor marks, I asked if there were any other Certified Accords. He brought in a beautiful white Accord, with very low mileage. Bought it the next day. Paperwork went smoothly, and Bill was low pressure and professional throughout the experience. Would highly recommend Bill for anyone looking for a very good purchase experience. The AC compressor died on our 2010 Honda CRV. We were given a price of over $1500 (parts/labor/tax) to replace it, which is extremely outrageous. I called another local Honda dealer and was given a quote of $800 for the same repair. When the other dealer heard the price these jerks gave us, even he said it was outrageous and asked which dealer we had been to. This is my girlfriend's car, but I can guarantee that neither of us will be going to this dealer again, and will not purchase any Honda vehicles ever again. Incidentally, the AC compressor for this vehicle was covered on an extended warranty that Honda issued (7 years, 100k miles), but it didn't fail until June and the extension expired in late April. We both expected better from Honda and this dealer. Update: The service jerk that we dealt with was Brad. I see other unfavorable comments about this specific person. read more

Just a tip, always check your contract, don't trust the dealership. I bought my first car from here recently, and when I got a flat tire from a pothole I called the service center the next day and asked if my tire was covered under warranty. They told me my tire wouldn't be covered, so I went to belle tire instead to have it fixed. I found out later that my tire was covered under road hazard and tried to get it money back after and wasn't able to for the tire I paid for at Belle tire. I also came in for an oil change and was not offered a regular oil change by Alex and thought their oil changed only came in packages Maybe I'm just dumb or inexperienced but these guys don't care, they just want your money and their customer service skills are horrible read more

I leased my civic through here and had it serviced. When things first started in 2015 it was great. The service manager Brad was responsive and I could get an oil change/car wash in a half hour. Fast forward to today and my last oil change took an hour and a half. I did inquire about leasing another Civic and my salesman Joe Camileri didn't even respond to my email. Crazy right? A salesman that doesn't sell cars. I did get a quote from the sales manager. I ended up getting a better price from another Honda dealer anyways. My advice stay far away. They really don't care and they are just riding the coattails of the Honda name. read more

Craig in service was very professional, detailed and helpful getting my oil changed and tires rotated. I asked for my car to be washed as well, while they had it. This dealership washes your car by hand, so it's an additional 15-20 minutes, but I had the time so I said to go ahead. I was initially told 1-1 1/2 hours and all the work was completed in an hour, which was great! And then I went out to my car. Inside they had left the plastic on the seat and paper mat on the floor. I took it out and went back in to throw it away. Another service dept worker saw me and said that the guys should have taken all of that out of my car and he apologized. I went back to my car that was all wet , so I assumed it had been washed but not dried, but then I looked closer. The windshield still had the smear of a dead bug stuck to it and you could see where the wipers had been used on the glass because, so the windshield had not been cleaned, just sprayed with water. As I looked around the car it also had been wet, and possibly wiped with a wet rag, but there couldn't have been any soap involved. I would give Craig 5 stars, car wash negative 5. Don't waste your time. It's 15-20 minutes of your life you'll never get back! read more

They are very friendly and always helpful... very personable and always professional... very knowledgeable, but never judgmental or condescending. Once, I couldn't get a ride to Troy Honda from my office in Bingham Farms so I let me co-workers talk me into taking my vehicle to a dealer close to my office. It's been a few years, and I still rue the day. Troy Honda is the only place for me for service and parts. I have a 2008 CR-V with 100,000 miles. I ended up getting into a car accident in that car (was rammed into the back and totaled), but since he had recommended getting Gap Insurance, I was able to get into a new car of the same model with as much ease as possible. Rich in the Service Dept. and Mike in the Parts Dept. made my life so much more easier when I had to replace the key fob on my 2014 Honda CR-V. I am stationed in Germany and my German Honda dealer told me to locate a Honda dealership in the U.S. to order the key fob through to save time and money. I called Troy Honda and explained my predicament to Rich in the Service Dept. He was so friendly and helpful and he told me to speak to Mike in Parts. Mike was also so friendly and helpful. Mike ordered my keys for me and shipped them to my sister in Rochester so she didn't even have to pick them up at the store. Germany has a lot of awesome things going for it, but customer service is not one of them. To have two auto guys that are kind and don't speak down to me, that is something to cherish. I buy Hondas because they last a long time. My 1998 Civic will need replacing soon, I will be checking with Troy Honda for my next car (pending overseas warranty info) because of the great service provided by Mike and Rich. read more

2018 Civic Si had radiator failure at 18,000 miles. Had car towed to troy honda. Even though the part was a warranty item on a stock car, they did their very best to lie, cheat and swindle me (a college student) out of $1800. They were never able to tell me why the part wasn't under warranty and started to change their answer as i pressed harder. Had multiple other dealers confirm that i was being scammed and it was in fact in warranty. Including Suburban Honda even towed it to their service center where it was fixed under warranty. If you feel like getting cheated on warranty items, and having to pay out of pocket for them, Then troy honda is the place for you! Absolutely no morals here! read more

Took my pilot there for a minor recall since it was close to home. On my walk home 10 minutes later my cell rang and they gave me a long list of problems that needed to be done totaling over three thousand dollars. I said just fix the recall and I'll take care of the rest. I thought how can a perfectly running vehicle have all that wrong with it and I don't know it? And they found all that in ten minutes. I picked it up the next day and took it to my trusted mechanics at Master auto and guess what? Nothing was wrong with it. My time was wasted, but glad I don't trust mechanics on face value it saved me a lot of money. Love my long lasting Hondas and will continue to buy them from Ferndale Honda not this place. read more

I had a coupon emailed to me from Troy Honda on Monday October 12 at 7:13 a.m. for an Express Oil Change with Complimentary Multi Point Inspection. Later that morning, my car was serviced for the above. They did not take the coupon off my bill. When I called Matt, the Service Manager, he said it was too late and he would not honor the $5. I left a message with the owner and never received a call back. I then called to talk with the Sales Manager, Tom, who sold me the Accord, and he never called me back either. Are they that hard up for $5? If so they should not put out the coupon! Never going back for a purchase or service. This place stinks big time! Stay away!!!! read more

I wish I could give a half or no stars but here we go..... I did not buy my 2013 civic si from this dealership but they are the only Honda dealer around, so I wanted to keep my business in the Honda circle. I was looking to sell my "Si" for cash and stopped by there today to have a friendly chat with someone about that. What a mistake..... Dennis was the first salesman I spoke with and he was very friendly. After telling him what I was there about, he got the "boss" and handed me off. I sat and waited for a few minutes then a man walked past me, gave me a quick glance, and proceeded outside towards my car. I got the hint he was the "boss" from his shirt and the"I don't got time for this shit" dash past me. No " hey how you doing?" "It's great to meet you" "thanks for driving 30minutes 1 way to talk for 5" I attempted to break the ice and told him I'm happy to answer any questions he had. The one and only question he asked was how much I wanted for it.... He spent the rest of the time opening doors, my hood, etc... Like the cliche of a "tire kicker kinda guy" He kept muttering to me over and over how he knew the whole car had been repainted. He never once asked what had been painted or what the reasons were for why I had panels touched up in the first place? I eventually assumed he convinced himself my car had been wrecked and brought back to life with repainted panels. Which of course is false but this dickhead will never know, cause he never cared to ask. On paper yes it would sound weird that both fender were repainted, the hood, and rear trunk lid.... But the truth is that they were all separate, minor scratches or bumps, SMH, not even insurance claims because they were so minor I paid cash to have them fixed. I'm a younger guy, (26) respectful and clean cut, just wanted to chat one of these older guys up and get a quote or at the least learn something. What I learned was that this "boss" in used cars doesn't give a fuck about anyone. Even if it was just a bad day? You're like 65, you should know to keep that shit at home or hidden behind a smile by your age. It's so disappointing when people much older than you'd don't know how to act right. I remember when I was little I thought all adults were smart because well they were " adulting" bahaha and I was kid, nope people stay dumb or get more and more cynical each day, how sad.... Wah wah wah The way this guy carried himself and addressed me was so off putting, even if he wanted to buy my car I would have told him "HELL NAH, to the NAH NAH NAH, HELL to the NAH" I would call him out but he didn't even introduce himself by name haha maybe that's his plan who knows..... I will always go to Troy Honda for my car service. I have been with them for over 15 years beginning with my first car and now my second, and they have never steered me wrong. They always have my best interest in what service my car needs, and what it won't need at any time. The service people are very courteous and knowledgeable of all cars and explain things very well for people like myself to understand. In addition, this location has a rewards program where your accrued points can be used to cover for service expenses. It's worth it! read more

I have only used Troy Honda for parts. They have good inventory. The parts department will quote you a lower price over the phone and the price is 10-15% higher (over list) at pick up. You need to watch this and have the parts rep make adjustments. read more

Please do yourself a big favor to keep away from this place as much as you can!!! I wish I had read the comments on yelp about them before I went there! The right front part of my Civic started to make noise when I was turning left 1+ weeks ago. One of my friend who is an expert about cars checked it for me and told me it was the dust shield that was bent, maybe from hitting a pothole and it was not at all a big problem. My car is still under warranty, so he suggested "a good dealer should be able to bend it back for you for nothing". On June 4th, I called Troy Honda, Brian answered the phone confirmed that my car is still under warranty and they can check it for me. I brought my car in the next day at around 11:30am. Brian was not there, his colleague Rich took care of me, (this guy actually did oil change for me 3 months ago and he is honest, that's why I went back there, and they are just a few minutes from my office), listened to my statement about the issue, checked my Honda service card for the information of the car, and put $99 as an estimation on the invoice. He stated that he was not sure yet how much it was going to cost, but he has to put $99 on the invoice temporarily for them to be able to check on the car. I confirmed with him that it's not an accurate #, and then signed on the invoice. At 1:48pm on the same day, Brian called me telling me they have checked the car and it was the backing plate that was bent, and it was not a big problem. And then he proposed rotating the tires. I rejected it. He then told me the A/C filter, braking fluid and steering fluid and all dirty. I said "OK" to acknowledge that. I asked when they can fix my car, he said either that afternoon or the next morning. I told him that's OK for me. At 4:49pm he called me again telling me they had fixed it, and the total was $398+!!! I asked what they did to my car, he said they fixed the backing plate, changed A/C cabin filter, and flushed braking fluid and steering fluid. I went there to pick up my car at around 5:30pm, he has left. Bob, the manager talked with me. I had no idea he was the manager at that time. He refused to adjust the payment and showed us the invoice which stated that on 4:48pm I approved the service on the phone. I told him I only know about the $99 on the invoice but not the other charges for the other services. Me and my colleague explained to him the conversation I had with Rich about the $99; also explained to him that my car was bought only about half an year ago, the A/C filter, braking fluid and steering fluid were all new, and they did not need to be changed. I didn't hear Brian giving me a quote/estimation on the phone, nor approved him to do the maintenance. Bob kept misleading by saying "we did not deliver the car, we don't know if those parts were new", "you don't even acknowledge the $99, but you have signed it". We explained to him again that I knew about the $99, it was a place holder for them to be able to check on my car, and that's why I signed it. Bob still kept misleading. The next day, we found out he did that to let Rich over heard that and thought we lied about him. At the end, he said, "I can discount it for you but I'm not going to give it away". We said if he wouldn't adjust it, we would dispute the charge on my credit card. He said "it's not easy! If it was easy, you wouldn't come here!" We decided to go there again the next day to talk with Brian. The next day we went there again at noon, Bob and his employees again refused to adjusted the payment. They insulted us with dirty words, poked me and harassed us. Also triggered Rich to be mad at us. When we tried to tell Rich the truth of the conversation we had about him and the $99 the day before, Bob interrupted us rudely, stopping us from telling the truth. We went back to my office, my colleague called them asking them to fax over the invoice. We called my original dealer where I bought the car to confirm how it would cost to repair the backing plate. They said it was not covered by warranty, but since it's such a small issue, they wouldn't charge on it. They also confirmed all the other maintenance were completely not needed at this time! Brian faxed over a modified invoice with total $186.63. The charge on restore backing plate was $25. We went there again that afternoon. Bob and his employee harassed us again. We tried to tell Rich the truth again, Bob and another of his employee threatened us to leave. I told them I have the right to say it. They said "no, you don't!" They tried to stop Rich from listening to us. But Rich was willing to listen to us this time. We told him the truth and we never lied about him and the $99 he put there. Bob was angry, he threatened us to pay, "pay for it or you won't get your car." "pay and get out of here!" He insulted the friends who went there with me, who are both females, too. Girls, keep away from this place. Guys, keep you and your female family members away from it! read more

We are on our fifth Civic or Accord from Troy Honda, so the product, sales and financing are obviously fine, as is the service department. The bill comes in below the estimate and the service writer always manages to find a coupon for a discount--maybe it is already built into the price, not sure. The work has been excellent. It can be pricey but that is always the case with dealership service departments. When they find something that will be a problem in the future (struts, shocks, that kind of under the car kind of thing) I have always been given not a price estimate but an idea of how long I can put off the repair/replacement--a couple of times it has been months. They are an honest bunch and I recommend them to anyone with a Honda. read more
