I love the food and atmosphere at Troys. There are options for everyone of all ages and food preferences - breakfast, burgers, salads, sandwiches, vegetarian, meat lovers, etc. Kids meals come in these cute cardboard car cutouts. Their homemade croutons and dressings (like the Thousand Island dressing believe it or not) are one of my favorites! Also love the Johnny B Good chicken sandwich and hotdog. Really, anything goes. Some tips to note are that they close early on Sundays and are often very busy (line out the door) during weekend brunch hours and weekday lunch hours. Outside seating is available, so I did this once during the COVID pandemic (and before the pandemic ate inside at least 20-something times). My only/biggest complaint about Troys is they are nearly unreachable by phone. I have probably actually tried calling over 30 times in the last few years to order something to go for pickup. They never answer or it goes straight to voicemail. I suspect they're not keen on to go orders because otherwise this would be fixed (and I would have ordered so so many lunches and dinners for myself and family and friends). read more

We were shocked when our favorite breakfast spot in Blowing Rock closed. On the weekends we enjoy driving up for breakfast then exploring the various trails etc. Anyways the hunt was on for a new breakfast spot. Someone recommended Troy's 105 Diner and I think we found our NEW spot! As the name implies it's an old school diner which looks great! The service has always been friendly and fast and the breakfast options are great. I typically like to have eggs and french toast and they do have a menu option for that. This place was just wonderful! The food was delicious, and the environment was amazing. It truly felt like sitting in a 1950's Diner. We visited Troy's while on Vacation and I think it's safe to say we'll definetely be returning, every trip. The service was quick and everything was correct, and we can't wait to try some Lunch items, as we only had breakfast. My only complaint is the lack of parking for how busy this place is.. we did have to wait in line for maybe 15 minutes, and it was definetely packed. read more

They are fairly easy to find along 105. The sign out front is rather cluttered and it's a bit hard to read, but you'll probably notice the bright chrome building exterior. There is plenty of parking, and several handicapped spaces right next to the door. Inside is the stereotypical diner décor. Pictures of Elvis and cars hung on the walls, black and white checkered floor, red and white booths, turquoise neon around the ceiling, and bright pink accents. The hostess didn't seem too enthusiastic, but we were seated right away. Our server came by immediately and took our drink order. She asked if we wanted to order our meal, but we wanted a little time to look the menu over. The breakfast menu is not extensive, but it certainly covers the basics. Our server came back in a couple minutes with our drinks and took our food order. The food was delivered to our table in about five minutes, meaning we had food on the table in less than 10 minutes from walking in the door. My eggs were a bit undercooked from what I ordered but not bad. The bacon and sausage were both fine. The biscuits were really good, and the gravy was pretty good as well. The western omelet was very good. The vegetables were fresh and the omelet cooked perfectly. The hash browns were also excellent, with just the right amount of crispiness. This is a nice place for breakfast (as attested by the table of EMS workers), and the food came out very quickly. read more

we go to breakfast every Sunday morning. I am tired of eggs and sausage (although the sausage is very good here) I don't eat waffles or pancakes and omelets are too big. So what do I order???? Many times they have the soup of the day, homemade and different every week. Potato leek, tomato bisque, chicken orzo, corned beef and cabbage and others. I don't like Kale but even their kale soup was good. So soup for breakfast? Why not? As an add on, Mecca was our waitress and she is excellent! Very crowded on a Saturday night after a 3:30 App football game. Waited about 15 minutes to be seated, then another 10 until our order was taken. Our server Wyatt seemed a little frazzled, but food did not take all that long to come out when considering the crowd. Our party of 4 ordered scrambled eggs with pancakes, cheeseburger basket, and 2x club sandwiches. Club sandwiches did not have bacon as stated on the menu, and came on 2 slices of bread, not the 3 slices on which the club a sandwich has been served in my experience. Other food was pretty good, and the chili was served very hot (temperature), but not very spicy. Wanted to ask for hot sauce, but Wyatt had disappeared. We all raved to each other how tastey our dishes were compared to the 'average fare'. Service was fantastic and we left a well-deserved generous tip for our friendly, attentive young waitress. In a college town, great service is definitely not a given. But, most importantly, the patriotic feel and the proudly-displayed American flags along the roadway made us feel welcomed and not like we were on the eastern side of the Berlin wall. This was a great place to come and grab dinner. We ordered the lighter version of the Country Fried Chicken with a biscuit, the Cowboy BBQ burger, hot dog and fries from the kids menu, and a bacon cheeseburger. The fries were delicious. My son said the hot dog was the best! My oldest son ate the Cowboy BBQ burger with the veggies on it, which is a huge deal!! This is a very cool 50s style diner located in Boone, NC. Everything we ordered was really tasty. And though we received some unusual, open stares from the patrons our server was quite nice. No one was overly friendly or bothered to say "goodbye" when we left the diner. Having said that... This is in the deep hills of Boone, NC and these are the actual "Hill People," of that region, and I guess they don't much care for outsiders 'round those parts. But our food was hot fresh and delicious. I had a black and white shake which I hadn't had in a very long time... And it was worth the wait. Fast service, decent portion sizes, but don't go here looking for Turkey burgers, because they don't have them. I ordered a fish sandwich and onion rings they were nice.
