Troy's 105 Diner nails the classic diner experience -- great environment, delicious food, and bacon that genuinely stands out. I know it sounds wild that something as simple as bacon can be a highlight, but theirs absolutely is. I was in town for four days and ate breakfast here twice, and I'll be honest, it was because of the bacon. My one gripe has nothing to do with the food: a couple at the table next to me had someone on speakerphone, loud, and it was disrupting the whole side of the diner, myself included. I get that it's a fine line to walk as a business, but I really wished someone had gently said something, because it dampened the experience for everyone nearby. Otherwise, the food was great and every server I had was very nice. Worth a stop, and I'd go back for that bacon alone.

The Food: I ordered the Razzle Dazzle - sirloin tips, three eggs (scrambled), hash browns, and an English muffin. The portion size was very generous, especially for breakfast. The flavor? The steak tips were tender, and the eggs were fluffy - more folded and firm, like on a flattop, than scrambled. The hash browns were delicious - the tops were crispy, but the bottom side was on the soggy side. My lovely wife ordered the Little Cuz, which is biscuits and gravy, one egg, one strip of bacon, and one sausage patty (links available). The bacon or sausage wasn't anything standout, but it was nice and crispy. The biscuit seemed sort of dry, but the gravy saved the dish. It was a nice combination of buttery and sweet but still peppery. We recommend utilizing the sausage patty to beef up the sausage gravy, as it was a bit weak on the sausage. The Service: We arrived around 8:30 on a Monday morning. It wasn't crowded, and we were seated instantly. The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered soon after being seated and received our food before 9 a.m. Despite being quick, it felt relaxed - nice for a Monday morning! Ambiance: Retro booths, neon signs, Elvis and Marilyn Monroe-covered walls - it definitely feels like stepping back in time. Clearly, a place where locals would stand by loyally, but where tourists should make a definite point to visit as well. Location: Right off 105 near App State campus. Convenient location, but 105 isn't the easiest road to turn onto, so keep that in mind. Parking is easy; it's not difficult to find either.

Had a great breakfast! Just a really cute quaint spot to stop when you're in Boone. I love the diner vibe & the servers were really great.

Interesting restaurant in an old school setting. We ordered the meat and veggies plate and thinking back should have gotten a burger. Service was fast and our waitress helpful. Prices are below average for restaurants in the area. We would definitely go back.

Dori and I were looking for lunch one day while visiting Boone, and ended up in FARM, mainly due to visiting Boone Belles right next door. What was an accidental encounter turned in a fantastically spiritual experience. Like all my write ups, I am giving my opinion based on the type of restaurant, service level expectation and the price. The business model is to feed everyone who walks in whether you can pay for it or not. You can eat for free, pay $10 (or as much as you like), buy food tokens to leave in the token jar (passing on a meal) or work off your food in the kitchen or helping out... again as much or little as you want. The atmosphere is what your would expect in a cafeteria with folks servicing you off the line. The food is fresh farm to table and you only pay $10 for your meal, of which they have few options and basically tell what you can order. ... the food for the price was exceptional. There were folks from all walks of life from well off families to homeless folks off the street. The tables are tight and few in number, but not so much to be instructive. They are close enough to do one of my favorite things, meeting people and hearing their stories. So eat, meet and move on to make room for others. You really can miss it if you do not know it's there...look for it tucked away between Boone Belles and the Horton Hotel. In summary, if you are looking for a different dinner adventure, a good meal for services and price, and want to do some good in the world please check out the FARM Restaurant.

I was staying at a hotel just down the street and our experience was so good, My son and I had breakfast two days in a row here. Not only was Sierra and the team of people working the breakfast counter sweeter than the homemade jam, they were also engaging friendly and so kind to my son and me. Let's talk about the food. The homemade bread, perfectly cooked eggs, homemade local sausage, fresh local breads from the bakery around the corner, which I believe was Stick Figure or something like that, and probably the best pancake I've had in years. If you love breakfast- and I do not... you are not to miss this place. I must say that this May has turned me into a breakfast lover. Just a note, you'll probably wait an hour for a table... It might have just been the holiday rush, but I always figure "busy means good," so my expectations were high--and The Local didn't disappoint. We also ordered the Brazilian steak, which was cooked perfectly and came with great plantains. The quinoa with tofu was good, too, though it was a little dry and would have been perfect with a sauce. The service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and refilled my water at least four times without me asking. Great ambiance and an all-around good experience. But I wiggled my vehicle into a tight spot and went in for a burger and a beer. I believe there were about 10 to 12 options available on tap, and I went with what was listed as an Irish stout from somewhere in the Northeast. It wasn't bad, though it seemed more like an imperial stout. My sandwich choice was the Cowboy, with ground elk at its core. It was a good choice too, and the accompanying fried onions and melted cheese complemented the meat well. I ordered the burger medium, but I think I'd go for medium rare if I could go back in time. The medium option wasn't bad, but I think a little less heat and a little more moisture would only make things better. I kept things simple with the side item, going for the fries which were of the thinly sliced McDonald's variety, not bad but nothing remarkable. The server covering my table was pleasant and prompt, though soft spoken so I occasionally had to ask her to repeat herself amidst the music and noise. I wouldn't call any of these selections a bargain, but the prices didn't veer too far from what you'll find in many burger joints. All in all, not an earthshaking experience, but a place I'd be willing to go back to. 3.5 stars.
