This is a nice clinic, but I would appreciate them showing more respect for patients' time. I showed up 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork (it would have been great to have access to this online beforehand, as it was 4 or 5 pages). Thirty minutes after my appointment was scheduled to begin (READ: I had been sitting there patiently for 45 minutes), I still had not been called up. I went to the desk to ask how much longer it would be and was immediately put in a room. I waited there for another 20 minutes before the doctor came in. The nurse was in the exam room when she handed me a robe and I began to change in the corner. She opened the door to leave while I was standing there in my bra and underwear! Just opened the door and left! If she would have waited another 30 seconds, I could have covered up. I was shocked. After my exam (which ended over 1.5 hours after I arrived at the clinic), the nurse and doctor left the room at the same time, shutting the door behind them. Neither of them instructed me of what to do next, so I sat there for a few minutes before finally decided to just go to the desk and check out. When I got to the desk, the woman working there was asking another patient if she was me! The poor elderly woman looked extremely confused until I interrupted and said that was my name, not the other woman's. BOTTOM LINE: I feel like a number here, not a valued patient. I'll be on the hunt for a smaller practice that respects my time more. read more

To add insult to injury, they didn't process my payment correctly in the office and now they're trying to send me bills at home. So not only was the experience bad but I now get to pay them twice and find time in their schedule to get back to them for a charge I didn't agree with. Yay. Billing department is condescending, opaque, and completely unhelpful My experience with Tru-Skin Dermatology--specifically their billing department--was appalling. Yesterday, I was placed on hold for over an hour and never spoke to anyone. No callback. No explanation. Today, I waited 45 more minutes on hold before finally reaching billing. I spoke with Rebecca, and the interaction was shockingly unprofessional. Rebecca spoke to me in an annoyed, condescending tone and repeatedly talked over me while I attempted to explain relevant background information. Instead of listening, she delivered a dismissive lecture about how Tru-Skin is "under contract with the insurance," I am "under contract with the insurance," and I am "under contract with Tru-Skin"--as if that somehow absolves the office of any responsibility to help a patient understand their bill. I was asking for help and clarity, not a legal monologue. Rebecca stated that only she could see the balance, yet she refused to review or explain the itemized charges, telling me I would have to wait 24 hours for an email instead. She was unwilling to explain a single charge on the call and offered zero resolution--no review, no escalation, no supervisor, no assistance of any kind. The message was clear: once they have your business, your questions and concerns do not matter. Excessive hold times, refusal to explain billing, and a dismissive, condescending attitude from the one person who supposedly "can see the balance" is unacceptable for any medical practice. Patients should not be treated like inconveniences for asking basic questions about what they are being charged. I am posting this to warn other patients, and I sincerely hope Tru-Skin's management reviews how their billing department treats people--because this experience reflects very poorly on the practice as a whole. read more

Two months after my annual exam I developed a large lesion on my nose. I called their office and asked for an immediate appointment as I thought the lesion needed immediate attention and they said that the soonest appointment would be in ten days. I was an established patient for several years I went to another dermatologist, and my lesion was diagnosed as squamous cancer. My rating is based on two events I believe that the lesion could have been detected on my annual visit saving me from extensive Mohl surgery and scaring. The ladies at the front desk are very rude. Especially the pale white girl (carolyn?) with the glasses. They have no respect for anyones time and act like they are busy when no one is in the office. It was clear they were just trying to rush you out the door. Scheduling or talk to someone? No. You are just a number. The only number is to call a call center who can't do anything and if they even transfer you to the actual office location, no one answers the phone and you have to start the circle back over. They told me that my skin issues were because of my dyed hair and tattoos, and that I had too many issues for them to check. Since December 10, 2023 I had an intense itch in my scalp, ear and neck. I kept scratching them until they bled. Trueskin accepted the insurance I had, so off I went. The first examiner diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis and prescribed a special shampoo. I went on a long trip, and the intense itching continued. When I returned, I went back to the clinic, and they gave me more creams and shampoos. There was no relief; I still was miserable. Then I requested a different dermatologist in the same clinic. She looked at my head and told me that I had headlice. She prescribed permethrin, which in most cases lice are resistant to. It did not work. I kept suffering. Then, during my next visit the doctor suggested that I find a lice clinic on the internet to remove the bugs. I celebrated a victory over those pesky little blood suckers two days ago, after they were carefully and thoroughly removed by the Lice Clinic of Texas. I now feel much better! I only wonder WHY Trueskin Dermatology did not send me off in search of a lice clinic at the beginning of December, so I would not have had to suffer for almost three months???? I don't have seborrheic dermatitis, BTW. I regret that this was the only practice which accepted my insurance. I genuinely feel like the staff in there is not interested in patients--at least that is what I always personally felt. read more

Though I find Dr. Bethany to be Absoloutly wonderful, I have had issue time and time again with billing. I have charges I never had been seen about and when I pay on my accounts for a family, they move it to where they see fit which makes it look like I don't pay as much as I do. My husband's bill was over $600 and even though ive paid hundreds on it, they've moved those payments to my personal account or my children's leaving my husband-s account to look unpaid. I called numerous times concerned about how this was being handled and was assured that the bill wouldnt be moved to collections, yet here I am standing with a collections notice and hit on my credit though mund you, I've paid over $600 to them in the past 6 months? Absoloutly ridiculous. This makes me never want to use this company again. read more

To this day, I have not received the reimbursement from TruSkin Dermatology. The initial request for reimbursement has been sent to their billing department on January 26, 2023. This is due to the fact that both I and my insurance company have paid their bill. My insurance company stated that I will need to contact the provider for reimbursement. I have been on the phone with TruSkin Dermatology billing department, specifically talking with Diane at the following number: 512-451-0139, several times over the last 2 weeks. On March 6th, I was told that the "office manager" has been sitting on this information for over a month, BUT has not done anything as it pertains to the issuing of the refund. On March 7th I was told that the check will be issued to me on Friday, March 10th. I called back on March 9th, and offered to go and pick up the check in-person. I was told that the check was issued/sent (?) on the 8th. It takes 2-3 days for mail to be delivered from zip code 78731 (the provider) to 78741 (my home zip code). According to the USPS, the refund check should have arrived on Monday, March 13th. This morning on March 17th, I called Diane again to check on the status of my refund and she stated that according to her records, the refund check was issued on the 8th. I asked her to confirm the status because I still have not received the refund from TruSkin Dermatology. Now it is 4 PM, March 17th. The mail has arrived: no refund check from TruSkin Dermatology ! I am still waiting on both the call from Diane in billing as promised this morning, since their office is already closed, this call will not come today. If you are going in for a routine screening and are in-network, DO NOT pay your bill until your receive confirmation from your insurance company about what you owe. TruSkin Dermatology will bombard you with bills and they will send the same inflated bills to your insurance company. DO NOT pay!!! Contact your insurance first before you pay any bills. I contacted my insurance company to take a deep-dive into the TruSkin Dermatology business practices, because based on my experience with them, they are not very professional, nor honest. I went in because I have severe dandruff and itching on my scalp. Saw them for my consultation. Was fine. I have been waiting for 3 months to get my prescription! Every time I call they transfer to the nurse line because they're the ones who handle the prescriptions. NO ONE ever answers. They send me to voicemail. Even when leaving a voicemail they still don't get back to you. I have been calling when I can since I work an 8-5. I had a receptionist tell me that it takes 48 hours for a nurse to get back to you. Let me tell you, it doesn't because I'm literally on the phone right now with them still on hold waiting for someone. If you are looking to do your appointment here I recommend to go somewhere else because their communication literally sucks so much. I think a toddler would have better communication with you. Do not book your appointment here unless you like to wait 3-4 months for a REFILL on your prescription. I will be looking for a new dermatologist thanks to Tru Dermatology. :) read more

My experience with this company consisted of 2 phone calls, but it was enough to warrant a review in my opinion. I decided that I wanted to get a couple of moles on my back checked out, and being that I'm a self-pay customer, I began a search to find a reasonable price for an initial screening. During my search I found that they offer free screenings for uninsured people on various days at their clinics. Great! I picked the one most convenient to me and called to schedule. First time I called (during their published business hours) I was told that nobody was at the front desk, where they schedule this type of appointment, so I should call back in the morning. I called back the next morning and was informed that the doctor was not going to be in on the day that they had the "free" screening at that location. So, you OFFER it, you just don't provide it. LOL! It was all just a bit ridiculous and a waste of my time as well as that of their staff. I'll be going elsewhere. read more

Have been a patient here since 2002. Ive been treated for the most typical of dermatologist needs from acne to keeping my skin looking young as I get, ahem... 'older' :). The Dr's here and the esthetician have done wonders for me through the many years. I've gotten so many compliments on how great my skin looks, it's just more testimant to the great advice and professional treatment I receive here. Ive tried spas and think its a huge waste of time and money. I only recommend all my friends go to a dermatologist, particularly this one. And very highly recommend Rebecca, the esthetician. Only the best for your skin, and you actually get results from the treatments, and aren't wasting money on things that don't work. (I do it all without invasive procedure, it can be done) FYI: no spa without an actual Dr present can use the strength or provide even half the treatments offered at a dermatologist office. It's state law. So don't waste your efforts if you're really looking for a place you can rely on to give you the results you are looking for. read more

Dr Kahn and her staff were amazing. My eye surgery came out fantastic and were there every step of the way with follow up calls, in office appt and teleconference's. Dr Kahn did a wonderful job with both my eyes for the surgery and they look great. I can see so much more space and light coming in. Plus I no longer feel my eye lids pushing down and feel like I'm looking through a small narrow space. The pain was very minimal and the ointments/meds she gave me help sped up the healing time. I would highly recommend Dr Kahn for any eye surgery as she is clearly a wonderful Dr and amazing at her craft. I have had MULTIPLE issues with this office. They waver from not disclosing items that will be billed to straight up "doctoring" paperwork to make me pay more. A couple of years ago when I made the mistake of going the first time, I was billed a few hundred dollars for the visit, paid in full, and six months later found I was set to collections for an additional bill they'd never mentioned for the lab fees. I raised hell, then they started having me sign off on all charges I would accrue for each visit. This last time I went, today, as usual, they brought in a sheet with the line items I would be billed for and then the total at the bottom. I signed it - what choice did I have? Well, then when I went to check out, the bill was $90 more. I asked about it, and the lady showed me the sheet I'd just signed, and I noticed the total had been SCRATCHED OUT and the $90 added on top of it. When I asked about it, the receptionist told me I had just signed that right in front of her. It was a lie - and I proved it, because there were no pens around for me to sign it, and they could not provide the original that I'd signed while I was in the room waiting for treatment. They told me I was lying, which, of course, made me dig in my heels. They failed to disclose the charge, altered the legal document I had put my signature on and claimed that the signature and the contract was still valid. Their lab fees went up almost 80% without any kind of disclosure. They never admitted the mistake, never offered an apology - just like the other times this has happened. I have learned a valuable lesson - in general, DO NOT GO TO A DOCTOR'S OFFICE THAT SELLS GIFT CERTIFICATES! And, specifically to this practice, AVOID! Their gold-plated Apple Watches were all I needed to remind me of how snake-ish these people are. read more

The PA was real nice but didn't really let me talk much. Plus they use medical terminology which most us patients need help with translation. Very thorough with the liquid nitrogen spray can and only time will tell if it works. Only thing that caused me to raise an eyebrow was that they wanted to prescribe a skin cream, but instead of asking me what pharmacy I use, they immediately directed me to receive an online order through a pharmacy in another city ​called Cooper Secialty Pharmacy that I've never heard of. Now I've been getting bombed with text about filling the prescription. I'm 62, and they tell me that I don't have any cancer spots, just age spots and precancer spots. So unsure why I need the prescription and since they didn't explain anything will​ probably ignore all the text. read more

Dr. Ladd and his staff are the best! My only complaint is that it can sometimes be difficult to get on his schedule at this location because he books out so far but to be honest I don't mind traveling to one of his other locations if needed. They are all equally as wonderful. I haven't experienced any issues with his staff whatsoever. In fact I've experienced his staff going above and beyond on multiple occasions, even taking care of an insurance request that should have been my place to work out. If you're considering TruSkin for Male Pattern Baldness, I highly recommend going to Dr. Carlo Gavino's new private practice instead! He was excellent at TruSkin but left. I stayed at TruSkin and became a patient of Nicole Petro when Gavino left. Her office would frequently require me to reschedule appointments, or forget to reauthorize my prescription refill. That's not a huge deal, but because she commonly forgot, I briefly reminded her one time as I was leaving my PRP Injection. A month later I got a bill saying that reminder constituted an extra "office visit" (I was already there) and an additional $130 charge. I tried at length to dispute the charge. They agreed that if I'd called in to give the reminder, they couldn't have charged me, but because I was in the office, they have a right to charge me (for a reminding them to do their job). I'm going to Dr Gavino's new private practice now instead. read more

They missed a lab report recommendation to treat following a biopsy. Then a year later another biopsy came back bad for the same spot. I complained and Tru Skin talked me into SRT radiation therapy but did not explain the costs correctly. They took $436 on their estimate of my out of pocket costs. Now they say I owe another $496 additional. Very poor practices. They dropped me as a patient saying I have lost confidence in them! No kidding. read more

I have seen SEVERAL dermatologists over the last 10 years trying to "age gracefully" and I have to say...I have found my "dermANGEL" AKA Caroline Carr! She really does a GREAT job with any Botox or fillers and never over does it... The results are subtle and amazing :) I couldn't be happier. And I think services / treatments are priced very reasonably. And....if you have actual skin care concerns, i.e. melanomas etc... Dr. Ladd is awesome, too! I drive all the way from Houston to see her every four months like clockwork, and now after seeing her work, the majority of my friends make the "pilgrimage" to see her too. I have been seeing Dr. Bethany Hughs for a few months now for the removal of a wart on my foot. It has been an extremely painful process with at home cream, biweekly cutting of skin, and liquid nitrogen treatment. While Bethany is competent in her work, her staff is not. The nurses I have seen there have asked me what foot this is one despite holding up an iPad with a picture and having all my paper work. Bethany would be doing the treatment and I would be crying hysterically and at no point did the nurse come over and try to reassure me in any way. On my final appointment of removal before Bethany came in, the nurse was removing some of the dead skin and cut into my foot. I yelped-- that was finally the day the wart was gone and instead of being happy about it I cried in their bathroom because it hurt to walk on my foot. I was supposed to get an antibiotic cream that the nurse said she would bring out but forgot so I had to walk back in and ask the annoyed receptionist. Bethany is VERY competent and smart and knows what she is doing but I did feel like a number there. She was in and out of that room as fast as she could be and neither her nor the nurses seemed to have the time/ interest to actually answer any questions. As for billing, my copays have been different many times and the office says to call my insurance. Finally, for my wart treatment I needed cream that cost 200 dollars out of pocket and the lack of insurance coverage wasn't made clear to me. read more

I have to pay $500 for a wart examination that I never asked for. I went here to get a wart removed, and they did an excellent job at that--but at the end of the visit, the nurse told me, "We will be sending this off to get it tested." A few weeks later, I got a bill in the mail for $500 from a seperate company that tested the wart. When I contacted Tru-Skin about this bill, they said that as a matter of procedure, they have all skin warts examined--you don't get a choice in the matter. So it's kind of like going to a restaurant and they set a lobster on the table that you never ordered, telling you that it'll cost $500 dollars and there's nothing they can do about it because the lobster's already been cooked. I had a biopsy done by Dr Harrison. I called several times to find out the results and was told that I had to speak with the doctor. They made me make an appointment to speak with him. I arrived for the appointment and paid my copay only to be told that it was completely benign. When I asked why I had to speak with him to hear this he told me that his office should have told me over the phone. Quite the convenient system to get a copay and bill the insurance for an unnecessary visit. On top of that they sent me to collections for $20 they claimed the insurance wouldn't cover. I will never see this doctor again! Apparently working the insurance system is more important than patient care. read more

Went in to have a basic skin cancer screening. The screening went fine, then: 1. Dr. told me he'd be happy to remove a few of the larger moles from my chest and back because they were unsightly. 2. Was told there was absolutely no cost to these procedures, and that I would have little to no scarring from the removal. Skeptical about the zero-cost, I asked the doctor to please double-check my insurance to be sure that it was all covered by my co-pay. He assured me it was. 3. Now instead of a few unsightly moles I have a few bright red unsightly scars. 4. And I get a $300 bill from a third-party pathologist in the mail for the analysis of the samples they took, despite the fact that the website says they do their lab work "in-house". 5. When I called to discuss the charges I was told I was the irresponsible one for not being better aware of the costs of my healthcare decisions. They did offer to lower my billing to $150, which was their cost for the analysis (probably screwing over the pathologist who actually did the work for them). 6. Was told that I should feel lucky that they were even doing that for me, because legally they had no responsibility to help me out at all. So, long story short, I have to pay a bunch of money for a procedure I never really wanted, but was pressured into with false claims of zero cost and minimal scarring. Now I have ugly red scars on my chest and back, and my wallet is $150 lighter. Meanwhile, I'm sure the Doc who treated me got a nice fee for the extra procedure he talked a patient into. Go somewhere else and avoid a headache. read more

Unfortunately I had a bad experience here with injections. The aesthetician talked me into to trusting her to doing injections of filler. I need up spending way too much money. I was swollen and bruised for 3 weeks. After the swelling went down the aesthetician agreed the filler was in the wrong location. She tried moving it around Here it is 3 month later and I still have lumps below my eye on the top of my cheek. Just counting the months until is will go away.
