Do not waste your money. I've heard about Truckee Bagel for years and finally decided to try. I arrived at 6:15am and I can tell you these bagels are NOT fresh. Half of my order were rock hard. The onion bagel was burnt on top (didn't order toasted) and the poppyseed was caked in seeds, almost like a joke (see photo). Here is my sandwich today. They used to pile turkey high with a ton of sprouts and a spicy pickle. Now this pathetic thing! There was literally one-and-half pieces of turkey, barely any cream cheese, the bagel was burned (and really hard to chew) and a pinch sprouts. The tomatoes where almost all ehite and not ripened at all! I have been frequently Truckee Bagel for 29 years! Since we built a house in Galena. I have really enjoyed their food. But it has gone pitifully downhill. My hope is that if I do decide to try it again, I hope it is someone who cares a little more about what they are selling. Really, I have it 3 stars because of the atmosphere and because we have gotten really good sandwiches there. 2 stars for the food and 2 stars for service. The places where the food is edible and doesn't break the bank are getting fewer and fewer. The last pic is of what the sandwich I ordered SHOULD look like. I stopped by Truckee Bagel on my way to a hike and ordered the Spanish Sunrise. I loved the freshness of the bagel and the combination of flavors - egg, veggies, avocado, and cheese worked perfectly together. The service was quick and friendly. Oh Truckee Bagel, I have enjoyed them for years! I used to go to the downtown location during college, and have been a loyal customer since. So here's my review! Conveniently in South Reno, this has been my latest spot after a day out on the slopes or during my lunch breaks. My go-to is a BST (bacon, sprouts, and tomato) Sandwich, and I always opt for the Jalapeño spread instead of the original chive (original is good too!). The other sandwiches like the Papa Bear is another favorite but I'm LOYAL to the BST. The South Reno location is a cozy shop, and I definitely appreciate that. It's small and intimate, but a great spot for a quick bite. The staff are always pretty helpful and always have a great attitude. I definitely appreciate it! I have come here many times over the years and always like my breakfast bagels I just get egg and cheese they offer different types of cheese which I love so I can get mozzarella instead of just cheddar or American. Recently I have been on a gut health reset with my doctor and am currently gluten free which I have been pleasantly surprised at how much better they've gotten at making things taste that are GF! (I tried it once like 10 years ago and ew!) anyhow I reached out on Yelp the day before asking if they had GF bagels and the owner responded right away advising of the gluten free bread they can make any of their bagel sandwiches on. Long story short, tastes just as good as a bagel did! I'm very happy about this as I hate missing out on breakfast sandwiches!! I think I'll go back again today. Having one this morning, they were hard as a rock! And really they started that way. I stopped in for an early lunch yesterday while working in the area. Galena highschool kids were out for lunch and this shopping center was packed with them, Truckee bagel was no exception. The girls working moved through the line fairly quickly. I was craving pizza, so it was a no brainer that I ordered an Ez pizza on a garlic bagel. I used to make pizza bagels as a young girl with my mom and this was nostalgic and took me right back to my childhood. The girl working the counter recommended I order it on a garlic or onion. My tastebuds thank you for the recommendation. Casual setting; they offer dine in with limited seating availability. Surprisingly, they offer a couple of sauces from Larrupin's from Trinidad, California. That offering nearly blew my socks off. The taste was also unfortunate as the bagels and their ingredients did not seem fresh let alone lacked flavor of any sort. I was just craving a breakfast sandwich and added smoked turkey, it ended up being $8-9, which is a little pricey but it was definitely a thick and full sandwich! The cashier was nice and walked me through all their options as it was my first time. It was everything I hoped for:) I have to say the biggest selling point is that even for someone like me- Who's not a big bagel fan, there's enough variation in the menu to satisfy everybody. If you do opt for a simple bagel/cream cheese combo then this is like your Disneyland! But WE did the "Pacific Sunrise" breakfast sandwich x2! I choose the garlic bagel and smoked cheddar cheese and my partner got the Cranberry bagel (can you believe it?) and pepper jack cheese and of course- added avocado. It was absolutely perfect. Fresh, savory, dense. But not heavy. Perfect size to be satisfied with one sandwich or spoil yourself and order two! And considering the weather outside was crisp and cool we paired our breakfast with two hot chocolates. Would be remiss to not mention the self service coffee station that caught my eye! A great lunch and smoothie menu that I will have to come back and try. As well as the kick ass ladies behind the counter who provided spot on suggestions, upbeat energy and friendliness. Rolled in late afternoon to pick up a few bagels for a special meal. I knew the selection wouldn't be compete, but I figured I could find what I was after. They had a few of the less popular options left for the day and I asked what a 3-seed Bagel was before landing on poppy and sesame, 3 of each. Or so I thought. I opened the bag at home today to find three poppy and three 3-seed. Not what I ordered. I was the only one in the shop when I ordered. The cashier didn't seem too enthused to see customers, and she let another employee grab my bagels. Obviously he wasn't listening to our conversation and grabbed the wrong bagels. Beyond that, the bagels were pretty underdone. Very lightly colored on the outside, doughy on the inside, with a few spots that seemed not quite cooked through. I love these bagels and I love having them on the south end of Reno. Feels like our own special little shop. I also love their cream cheese. I've never tried any of their flavored ones but their plain is great. A nice balance between the standard and the whipped consistency. I love their bagel sandwiches but the key to my heart here is a toasted bagel with cream cheese, tomato and red onion. I grabbed a few extras to go and put them in the freezer when I got home. I take one out at night and it's perfectly thawed and ready for toasting for breakfast the next morning. My favorite for non-sandwich making is cranberry. Delicious! read more

They have some nice outdoor seating as well as some seating inside. I ordered a breakfast bagel sandwich, called the Spanish Sunrise as it sounded really good and their chocolate milk. I liked the ingredients inside the sandwich but the way it was put together was not great as it was falling apart and the cream cheese was everywhere. The sandwich was not cut proper either so it turned even messier when I tried to pull it apart, almost impossible to eat. It was my first time going this morning before heading out for work and Truckee Bagel did a good job of making my morning! I don't remember what my husband got (shown on the left) but I ordered a hot I'm Hooked Sandwich and it was so bomb! The bagel was toasted well to where it wasn't burnt. I'm a savory person so the cheese and barbecue sauce went well together. I believe the meat I chose was turkey. I used to love this place, key word USED! Today my experience wasn't anything like it was a year ago. My friend and I went in to order and right before we went in I was talking greatly about how yummy the food is and how nice they are in trukee bagel. We went in and we not greeted or acknowledge. I order before my friend and got the lox and a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese and a smoothie. The plain bagel and smoothie were for my friend and I ordered the lox for myself. My friend, then ordered and my friend is allergic to any sort of metal. So we have to be super careful with what she touches, but especially what touches her food. We told the guy who was ringing us up that she cannot have any metal so please put it on the ticket. We went and sat down and her food came out almost wrapped in tinfoil and I had to run up and stopped them before she did. We then got her food and we were still waiting for ours. Mind you they had about six people working and two of them were doing the same job, counting the cream cheese. After about 30 minutes, I was really confused where our food was. More people came in and their orders were done way before ours. Instead of the workers saying "hey did you need something? Did you order something?" They simply ignored us just letting us sit there. I eventually walked up and asked where our order was and they said that they never even printed our ticket. They end up getting our food out in about 10 minutes, which was great but we got no apologize or anything about their mistake. But we got to get some free cream cheese because they had to get rid of it which was a plus! read more
