I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. We had a private event- a family celebration dinner- at Yosh's and everything was amazing. First, the food was great. They have a separate catering menu that includes a wonderful variety of entrees and sides. It was served buffet style with staff available to help serve. They set up the tables for us and we just brought our own flowers. The space was beautiful and perfect for what we needed. Most importantly the service was amazing. My fiancee and i have been here a couple times and it has always been a good experience.. the restaurant is a good size inside with plenty of seating and they have a patio outside with a handful of tables. The staff is always nice and helpful. We like to ask for suggestions they are happy to help. One of my favorite sandwiches is the French dip on their Swiss and onion bread.. the beef is tender and not super fatty. The au ju is flavorful, not too salty and doesn't leave some coat of something on your tongue.. the swiss/onion bread works so so well with everything.. the flavor of the Swiss cheese goes well with the au ju. We've had a few different sandwiches. my fiancée loved the meatloaf one and we both love the recent weekly specials.. This week is the chicken curry salad sandwich and last week was the Carolina pulled pork.. I lost my mind with that one.. so so flavorful. I couldn't stop eating it. I forgot it was a weekly special and we got it on the last day. So so sad.. wish it was a regular on the menu.. They have a list of sandwiches but you can also make your own and choose which bread you want on any of them. The thing I love about them is you can order a half sandwich. They've been around so long, we forgot they existed. We were in the area, and my wife said let's go have lunch! We dropped by on a Tuesday at 1:00pm, and they were spot on with everything! My wife had a French Dip with provolone cheese on Parmesan Pesto bread. I must say that the au jus that comes with it should be bottled and sold by the gallon! The carrot cake for dessert was divine. My partner in crime and I had our monthly lunch get-together to start off the New Year by driving all the way down to South Reno. I have had Yosh's on my radar for a while. We were glad we made the trip. The Ambiance is casual and no frills, but also open with nice spacing between tables and lots of windows to let in the natural. There is also a lot of outdoor seating which was not really an option in January. It's a walk up and order and pay process. They give you a number and the food is brought to the table. The staff were friendly and professional. Soft drinks are self serve. My friend and I split our order. No problem, separate bills, and sperate plates. The food overall was good. We deemed the pork schnitzel sandwich delicious and the BLT salad OK. Portions were quite adequate. The plates came out in a timely manner. The only complaint we had was the tables were not cleaned off. Also, the bathroom was also in need of tending. It would be worth a return visit if I were in that part of Reno. This was my first visit to Josh's. You place your order and they bring it to the table. Nancy V and I decided to share a sandwich and salad. They split it for us. Service was very friendly. Pork schnitzel sandwich was delicious. BLT salad was good not great. Places friendly. Plenty of seating .. inside only. I think, however, they need a new sign. You can hardly read the name of the restaurant. Perhaps it should be painted in white on the door like everyone else seems to have in the strip mall. Anyway, I definitely look forward to going again and trying some of their other items. Desserts looked really good, but it's a new year and we are all trying to eat a little better. Out of the several times I have been here, I have tried a different sandwich from the menu and enjoyed their selection of pre-selected and build-your-own sandwiches. The house salad was AMAZING! It was full of leafy greens, cranberries, croutons, candied nuts and a really yummy vinegarett. The Reuben was good too. The indoor dining and front counter is well designed, organized, and inviting with lots of room. The staff were all so nice and helpful with suggestions and information about popular menu items. Yoshi's today for lunch. I love their Gobbler, but today it was disappointing. I ordered Dutch Crunch bread and it arrived looking like nothing I have ever seen. Add to that the bread absorbed everything in the sandwich making it a soggy mess. When we commented on it, we were told they have a new baker who is working on the breads! We were in Reno recently and looking for a good place to have lunch. We're glad we found Yosh's! Here is what we noticed: - Lots of seating indoors, and also some out front (too cold for us on the day we went, but it would be great when the weather is warmer). - You order at a counter, they give you a number, and then deliver your food to your table. - Lots of specialty sandwiches, as well the ability to customize one. We didn't see the lunch combos (half sandwich and soup or salad) before we ordered, but we'd order one of those next time for sure. - My wife and I ordered two half sandwiches, which was plenty of food. Both sandwiches were excellent: the Cinque Terre was probably our favorite, but the Portobello Mushroom was also really good (and it had a little kick). We got the Dutch Crunch bread on one and the Sweet French bread on the other...both were really yummy! Yup. It's been four years on the road and we're scouting locations in town this week. Some memories never fade. Let's just say I didn't need a Yelp search to find today's lunch destination. Same great atmosphere, same great vegan chili and the staff are somehow nicer. Not sure how they could be, but they are. That chili packs a small jolt. Absolutely love it. My first time trying Yosh's and I don't think I would return based on this experience. My husband really likes this place. I'm not big on sandwiches but figured I'd try it since he was going to pick up food for him and a friend there today. I love a good French dip, so I went with that! It came with au jus for dipping and a side, I went with tuna salad and it was good. I was pretty disappointed in the sandwich because one of the pieces of bread was totally burnt. It was hard to even taste the meat since the burnt flavor was quite overbearing. I was surprised to see they would serve a sandwich on bread that was so burnt instead of just remaking it. Unbelievably the shop has been closed 3 months and reopened the day before my trip! I wanted to try the gluten free focaccia but they were out of it so got another gluten free bread instead. It was pretty dry and not much pesto on it but the turkey and veggies were good. The salad was the house salad. I enjoyed the dried cherries and dressing but didn't care for the grilled onions in it. Overall not a bad lunch but would get something different next time. A few days ago I went to Yosh's I saw their episode on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and the place must have had some hype at the time, which is why my coworker chose to work there. The last time I tried the sandwich with my coworker it tasted amazing, so that's why I decided to come back. Honestly, this visit didn't live up to that. Right when I walked in I didn't feel very welcome because the girl at the counter seemed like she didn't want to be there, which made the whole vibe a little off. Finding the restaurant was a challenge too, the sign is really small and I ended up circling the area a few times before I found it. I ordered the smoked tri-tip sandwich on Dutch crunch. The bread was burnt on top, way darker than it should be and the tri-tip, grilled onions, and cheese weren't warm or melted. I expected it to be served hot, especially since the last one I had here was. I'm not sure if this one had been sitting for a while but it definitely wasn't served right. I also tried the tomato and sweet pepper soup because it's a popular item and I wanted to see what the hype was about. The menu says it contains nuts, but honestly it just tasted like plain tomato soup. I didn't really notice any pepper flavor or nuttiness and it was completely smooth with no texture, so it didn't feel like the soup they described. Overall, the sandwich looked good in photos, but between the underwhelming food, burnt bread, soup that didn't match the menu, and the unwelcoming service, it was a disappointing visit. Yosh's was in the regular lunch rotation before they had to close the kitchen for renovation this spring. It seems like they may have lost some of their kitchen crew during the pause, as today's sandwiches definitely did not measure up. The Cinque Terra was missing the star ingredient -- prosciutto; so just a turkey sandwich at that point. I ordered the weekly special, Coconut Shrimp Sandwich, which was a good idea but poorly executed. The shrimp was fine, no hint of coconut in the breading, lots of Thai chili sauce, a few strands of cabbage so no texture or crunch. Both sandwich looked like they had been pannini pressed without grill marks. And on a Tuesday at 12:30p, they were already out of french bread. Prices are fine, but we will select Rick's Deli Cafe or Michael's Deli next time for better sandwiches. read more

The sandwiches are made quickly so it's the perfect place to pick up a lunch to go, but there is also plenty of seating if you choose to dine in. All of the employees that work at Yosh's are so friendly and helpful. For $10.99, you can get a loaded sandwich on your choice of freshly baked breads. I've been to Yosh's twice so far and ordered The Gobbler, which has turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing, both times. There are no words to describe how amazing this sandwich is. I got it on Pesto Parmesan bread the first time and thought the sandwich was out of this world, but after getting it a second time on Swiss Onion bread, the sandwich only got better. Just note that if you go later in the day, some of the bread options may not be available. In addition to the sandwiches, Yosh's also offers salads, soups, and desserts, all at incredible prices. I got the clam chowder and it was one of the best I've ever had. I am so grateful to live so close to Yosh's and am excited to keep coming back and trying new menu items.
