    Loving life.

Most excellent park. Best I have been to for myself and my boy. They really took time and consideration when building this park. Totally designed for everyone!!! And they mean it. They have an area for kids on balance bikes up to pro stuff. Bring your family out and all the kids and adults can have fun. They have three spots to race side by side. Pump tracks, wood tracks, drops, crazy gaps. Things I will never do. Also great spots to have your lunch. Water and a spot to by goods. Bathrooms near by. And best of all. This place is well maintained. You can feel confident. Try it out. One HUGE issue though. If you just drove from the Bay Area, be forewarned, there ain't no oxygen up there!!! Blaaaa Haaa Haaaa. Also drop some money into the donation spot. This place is FREE. But, come on guys. Throw some money down. If you don't have cash. They do have an option on line.

We always have such a great time here!! Super family friendly and super nice! My son rides a full suspension bike (little big for the park but he loves it) husband rides a p1 and it's great. There are people of ALL ages, littles up to anyone!

I love this little bike park! It is so nice for kids to ride around and feel safe. I will say that if parents want to sit and watch their kids they should bring a few lawn chairs because the picnic tables can fill up really quick.

Last year! Largest jump on the green/blue line. I clear it sometimes! Haha

This bike park is an underrated destination. It's worth the trip to Truckee (from Carson for me) just to ride here. It's perfect for the whole family. We like to bring food, and the dog (leashed) and do a picnic. We've got a 6 yo, and she can pump around in the kiddie area, and we can take turns hitting the jump lines and watching her. There is also a good playground within walking distance so if she gets bored on the bike she can go play over there. I also like to stop by after or before riding Northstar. The jump lines are progressive so you can work your way up to the big stuff, or just stay in your comfort zone whatever that might be. I've raced Dual Slalom here a few times and it's always very organized with good prizes. :) Every year they make improvements. 5 stars for the Truckee Bike Park!

Awesome place for children, teens and adults. Our 2.5 yr old loved taking his strider bike all over the place. My husband was able to ride his course with him and also ride on the advanced course too. Be prepared for dust. There is a lot of shade and a portable toilet as well. It runs off donations so please bring a few bucks to leave behind.

Fun Mountain Biking Lessons with Awesome Coaches John & Eric - Great for Families!…read more Northstar offers excitement and fun for mountain bikers of all levels, from beginner to advanced, with a wide variety of trails to keep things both interesting and challenging. The resort offers biking lessons, and the group lessons are especially helpful for families wanting to learn some basic skills and gain confidence, in order to better enjoy their day on the mountain. The private lessons are well worth the money for families through advanced riders, and coaches John & Eric rock! They both have years of experience, can definitely help you skill up, and are personable and fun to hang with. For families, these fantastic coaches can turn a nice visit into an awesome day of adventures! With private lessons, riders of different skill levels can be accommodated, so that each biker is able to learn and progress. Thanks to their great coaching, we had family members learn enough to hit intermediate trails on Day 1! The other advantage of private lessons was that the kids/teens had a coach to accompany them since none of the adults could keep up! Parents will appreciate that they can watch and build trust in their coach during the first hour or so and then feel good about bowing out for libations, confident that their kids are riding the more challenging trails with a responsible, biking-experienced adult. Book a mountain biking lesson with Coach John or Eric the next time you're at Northstar! You'll be glad you did!!

I called every mountain biking shop in Truckee. I decided to go with Dirt Gypsy Adventures and a private mountain biking clinic and mountain bike ride with our instructor (Mark). I couldn't have asked for it to go any better... my girlfriend learned a ton (and I learned a handful of things too) and it helped her feel more confident on the trails. At first, I didn't understand how we could spend 2 hours learning how to ride a bike - I quickly realized what I didn't know and how patient Mark was. I particularly loved his analogies and the way he articulated these concepts. We also rented a bike for the following morning and went out by ourselves, too. She's now riding with friends in the Bay Area this weekend and we've looked at a couple bikes for her. Mark, our instructor, did a great job - lifetime of experiences racing and teaching. I couldn't have asked for more. The whole process facilitated by Ryan went extremely smooth. Thank you!

First, what I love is that no matter the experience level, Ken sources top-of-the-line bikes. We all rode Rocky Mountain bikes that were incredible!! Second, we took 6 adults ranging from 27 to 56 and all very different skills sets. We had complete newbies to pretty skilled riders. Ken did a tremendous job teaching skills clinics interspersed with riding and keeping it interesting for everyone. We then split the group to accommodate different levels, which was perfect. Overall, we all had a fantastic time and cannot recommend Ken and Tahoe Mountain Guides enough. We are going to try to take his surf clinic in Panama in 2019!!

We had an excellent ride with Tahoe Mountain Guides and strongly recommend this company. Our ride was mid-October and despite the fact that the high season was over, it had snowed in the AM that day up high, and was raining around noon when we were scheduled to head out, Ken and Bobbi and Alex were fired up to ride with us and have fun on the trail. It could have been a "well, it's cold and rainy and my guides flaked out on me" kind of day, but that's not how Ken seems to roll. They were all smiles and laughs and met our group with a contagious enthusiasm to get out there and play. The bikes are excellent and well-fitted and after a half mile of intro pedaling, we steered off onto the single track. Tahoe Mtn Guides picked a route perfect for our relatively inexperienced but adventuresome group, and led us through it at an ideal pace. Alex, Bobbi and Ken had really helpful tips and pointers for each rider, and they passed along their advice in such an encouraging and fun manner. Stops for water, which the guides carried, came at just the right times. A frosty beer at the end of the ride was tasty too.

I've never been here so here's a heads up for those that are new. Every time I googled the pin would drop on Salmon Falls Rd. So I looked up Salmon Falls Bridge and zoomed in. There is a sharp left turn right before you get to the bridge itself. This turn will take you up to two parking lots, both with their own bathroom (four stalls total). There's also a boat ramp but this area is shallow. The trail starts at the lot to the left as you enter. The pathway is not too narrow but in some areas it is and it's used for both walking/biking and there is POISON OAK everywhere. I suggest wearing long socks/pants. If you do wear shorts be cautious! There are plenty of trails that lead off to the right and take you down toward the lake. My boys and I packed up our coolers and spent some time down there for lunch. When we went it was beautiful and sunny with just a light breeze. This is a nice trail to get in a good walk/run. We will definitely be back as it's beautiful up here...enjoy!!

Get there early for parking and make sure to always lock your car and leaving nothing visible. This trail is known for break-ins. I come here once a week for trail running. It is always so peaceful and quiet. The trail begins with a short and easy incline to get the heart rate started. It is very popular with bikers so be mindful of them and try to keep on one side. Some of them are great about using the bells to alert hikers but not all. Luckily I have my bear bell hanging from my bag as well that helps for the same reason. It is usually pretty empty early mornings when I typically arrive and even by 10am it is not to bad. Be aware that it does get fairly warm because there is not much shade. It is more of a creek than a lake but at times it does get more full, usually at the end of Spring. I have spotted a couple of bobcat cubs so keep an out for wildlife. Overall my fav close spot to hike or run. The walk back in the mornings is best for pics. Enjoy and please keep it clean and safe!

With an elevation gain of 1410ft and many switchbacks be sure to carry plenty of H20, wear appropriate footwear, maybe bring something like a granola bar or fruit and as always pack out, what you pack in. We thoroughly enjoyed this hike, stopping along the way to take in the spring flowers, beautiful views, grab our binoculars to look upon Genoa, the Carson River & Jacks Valley.
