I don't know their overall or official stance on customers returning the thousands of plastic pots that plants are sold in, but I'd hope they encourage customers to return the emptied pots, for the nursery to then return to the providers that they get their plants from. Also, I don't know if Villager Nursery sells any thing physically toxic, like RoundUp or other glyphosate products, or synthetic fertilizers .... Or socioeconomically toxic like Monsanto/Bayer products or MiracleGro products - or if they lean towards working WITH nature, like selling only organic fertilizers and not selling chemical pesticides - but I'd hope so! I haven't gotten to spend much time there, but based on the help I've gotten from a couple people (Liam is the only name I remember offhand), I would recommend them!

Especially impressive for April in our climate! Not only that, but the staff were so helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. They walked us through the entire nursery and pointed out all of the natives for us, and knew the light and water requirements of each plant. We are leaving so happy and excited for our garden!!

Cons: seems just wild forest and not maintained area with clear view for each tree. Other trees have blocked even growth of the tree. Many tree as just new branches of previously cut trees and are very high, like 7ft high to even cut. Hard to tell what the tree will look like. Many trees have fewer or every uneven length branches. Hot cider provided, packing just a dollar. Very nice staff, pleasant and welcoming. So, it's forest from where you can pick a wild tree. Some picks here even show quite well how the trees look like. Went for the cut-your-tree experience and that we had. Glad that this kind of places still exists!

My husband walked back up and the owner brought his truck and chain saw and cut it down for us He said that he grew up here and he is 3rd generation owner. The trees are a great price, $48 and we tipped them for helping us cut the tree down. His wife said it was not necessary but we really appreciated the service. I definitely recommend this tree farm. Get here early because there ends up being a line to find parking (which is sparse). Once you are parked you'll notice a stream that runs through the property with fish, a fire to keep yourself warm, a small room where they're selling ornaments and food, and a truck carrying people to and from. Before boarding the truck you're given a saw to cut down your own tree. You literally are taken up some hills in the back of an old truck. Holding on for the bumpy ride is expected but once you're out you can find the perfect tree waiting for you and your family. Once you've walked the distance to Mordor and selected your tree. You board a truck heading down the hills. I recommend getting an ornament or two and a snack from the concession stand. This trip can be somewhat physical, so folks unable to walk up hills should stay near the fire with some hot chocolate to stay warm.

The owner and all the staff are polite, cheerful, genuinely friendly and so very helpful. They have trucks to take you up to where the trees are and you get to pick one out and cut it yourself. It was such a fun experience for my almost 2 year old who loved the cars and running around in the woods. Obviously prices will be higher than just going to Home Depot for a free but it is so worth it for the fun outdoor experience and memories my family got to make. Needless to say I was over joyed with my experience and can't wait to go back next year.
