Went today for the first time. It's a clean store with friendly staff. They allow you to sample before purchasing. I purchased a medium bag of the Dark Cheddar flavor. When I got home I opened it up and the best way I can describe the taste is old. It was not crunchy like fresh popcorn. It was soft. I bought a medium bag which is quite expensive for, what I consider to be, a small bag of popcorn. read more

Let me first say - this place was really stinking cute! Southern California needs to take a look at Pop Korn's cute popcorn shop & take notes, pronto! I had searched Yelp for dessert places in Knoxville because I'm a huge sweets person & I love seeing what towns have to offer - especially when every town I've been too has a hidden gem! Pop Korn's is very much one of the few dessert places I've enjoyed. Myself, my mom, & her two friends pulled in & parked in the lot. (Its located right next to firehouse subs!) for someone who's husband lives in Georgia, I have this obsession for brick buildings! I'm not sure why, but it's so cute. We walked in & the first thing we saw were the cutest variety of containers - from Tennessee themed buckets to cute dog themed big tin containers. One lady with blond-ish hair came from behind the back & was very nice. Then following her was a brunette women (who could've been a tad nicer, but that's okay). Okay y'all.... They have an AMAZING variety of flavored popcorn. I got a small bag that was a little more than $5, which isn't bad at all! (half white chocolate kettle & the other half peanut butter kettle). OH YES! SCORE! I knew what I wanted but if you are indecisive & unsure, they are more than willing to give you a sample. *My first & most important observation: The popcorn wasn't stale tasting!!! A lot of popcorn places i've been too, i've gotten popcorn that tastes like a plastic container or was way too stale I couldn't eat it. So i'm very happy about that! read more

Takes me back to my childhood in Sacramento.. old town sac had a similar cute store that eventually disappeared.. this place was all I could ask for pop Korn and a lovely lady working there who was so very welcoming! This wonderful store is tucked in next to Firehouse Subs. I didn't notice until recently. Today was my first visit in and I will be back very soon. In addition to lots of types of popcorn to take home to pop they have lots of tins, boxes, and gifting options. Then there are the FLAVORS. Oh my goodness. I sampled dill pickle and banana pudding. I took home a bag with 2 flavors, peanut butter and a butterscotch and white chocolate. As I checked out the lady let me spin a wheel for a discount on my next purchase. I have a 15% discount to use within the next week so needless to say I will utilize that! So if you are in the area check it out. I popped in tonight to grab one or two bags and ended up leaving with 6! Ask for as many samples as you'd like - they encourage it. They have 150+ flavors of popcorn, each better than the last. Their seasonal ones are delicious. I HAD to try pumpkin pie, egg nog, and the gingerbread ones. All of them were amazing. The shop's owner served me, and he is so kind, helpful, and funny. The popcorn balls made by Mom are just amazing. i loved being able to choose a variety box for a take-home gift. I plan to go back there definitely the next time I'm in Maryville. Good experiences until I met the owner, who was very condescending. By contrast, the front-counter staff has always been friendly. Not so with the owner. I suggested how an existing promotional practice ("spin the wheel" for a discount coupon) could be extended to create further good-will with visiting out-of-town customers. A simple "Thank you, we will consider your suggestion" would have been a sufficient and well-received response. Instead I, a repeat customer on their "Frequent Poppers" list, got a condescending, alienating lecture. The owner's discourteous, assumption-laden response was unprofessional and uncalled for. Going forward my family will take our money elsewhere. This is a shame because we really like the popcorn, which was part of the fun associated with our frequent visits with relatives in the area. read more
