Service and food left a lot to be desired. This is our second visit in as many months, and both times had quality of service issues. We arrived to a mostly empty restaurant with lots of available seating...or so we thought. After waiting several minutes at the front before the hostess returned to seat us, we were taken to a booth that was imminently next to other guests and were informed the next both over, entire row near the back and the entire row next to the patio were reserved (for a parties that didn't arrive the entire time we were there) when we asked if anywhere else was available. Avoid the air fried chicken products - the chicken tenders and chicken sandwich were both paper thin and extremely dry. Our server seemed as though she would rather be anywhere else than serving our table, food was delivered by someone in a "chef's" coat, drinks were refilled by another server who happened to be walking by and noticed our glasses were empty and a manger checked in on us (who we shared our concerns with and who offered a replacement option) all while our server took care of another table, or sat in a private dining room at the back of the restaurant chatting with other staff. As for the ambiance - there really isn't any other than open and bright? Maybe it's better later in the evening or on the weekend, but as far as week nights - it's fairly mainstream. We keep returning to True Food as the healthier option hoping that the service, food quality and execution will someday match the price and location; however, this was likely our last experience. read more

This was my first time at TFK! I walked in and the place was clean, modern, well kept. Plenty of space for large and small parties. I ordered to go. The staff member was polite and took my order. While there were many good choices on the menu, I chose the salmon with rice. I decided to get it blackened. It only took 15 minutes for it to come out. 10/10 When the friendly waiter gave me the bag and noticed that it was a bit *light* I thought, maybe they forgot something... In fact all of my food was there The food was good. 7/10. The basil sauce added a nice touch. Will I go back? Idk, friend. Not sure if I came on an off day or not (slow Sunday evening), but the food took forever to make. It was as if they were doing a soft opening and was slow in the kitchen or didn't know how to make the food. The food quality was not there. The grass fed burger had a weird meat smell. My fries came out cold. My Asian wild shrimp dish came out salty. I was pretty disappointed in my experience and I've been to other True Food Kitchen locations before. The table next to me also complained that their food came out cold and not fresh. The waiter just apologized and that was it. She gave me the same reaction. We wondered into this place over the weekend while trying to do a wine tasting next door. At first glance the place was open and felt airy. It was a healthier options type restuarant. The waiter while new was very helpful with the menu items and attentive to the guests. I liked that. We ordered the Brussels sprouts and Edamame dumplings. At first the Brussels were vinegary but melo'ed as you ate them. The dumplings were different but tasty. I ordered the pepperoni pizza with added wild mushrooms and my friend ordered the butternut squash pizza which had squash, raisins, whipped ricotta cheese on it. The pizzas were okay. We also ordered the cocktails refreshers which were tasty. This restaurant offers alot of vegetarian and plant based options! Check it out!!!! read more

I stopped in for the first time today and ordered lunch to go. While the service was friendly, the food unfortunately did not meet my expectations--especially for what was probably the most expensive item on the menu, the Steak Frites. I ordered my steak medium well, but when I opened my order, it looked and tasted much closer to medium rare. The frites were also quite salty, and although I took the server's recommendation to add a truffle-like seasoning, it wasn't included. Instead, there was a red-orange sauce that I wasn't expecting. Given True Food Kitchen's reputation for fresh, thoughtfully prepared food, I had high expectations, and unfortunately my first visit didn't leave the lasting impression I was hoping for. read more

Yelp apparently doesn't let me post a photo but I ordered a lunch delivery and the avocado was brown on the inside, not something I would EVER put in front of a visitor in my home. This spot has excellent customer service and the wait staff is very polite and friendly. The food doesn't take long to come out @ all. But you need to know that this place is healthy eating; They have absolutely {{{NOTHING}}} fried in the whole bldg. So I ordered the grass fed cheese burger with cheesy mashed potatos. It was very delicious and well cooked. My wife ordered the gluten free lasagna with turkey sausage which she really enjoyed. Overall this restaurant is pretty good for healthy eating! A good alternative to healthy clean eating. I came here to get food for my mother in law while she was in the hospital and eating foods that are better than hospital food and also a healthier choice. The roasted butternut squash soup is so delicious as well as their pizza. I have not eaten inside but when I placed the order it was ready at the time expected. Definitely a good alternative for healthy eating and individuals preferring vegetarian and/or vegan options. We've now been to the outlets in both Annapolis and in Herndon Virginia. Both are highly comparable to one another They are bright, airy, spacious, and curiously empty of diners. Possibly it's the price point, but to us this makes little sense because the food is both extremely tasty and quite healthy for restaurant faire. Service was friendly and competent and we both very much enjoyed our meals at both venues. Here is hoping that crowds find their way to True Food Kitchen, for the concept certainly deserves economic support. read more

Today, I got out to Cooper's Hawk a bit early and figured it was the perfect time to finally check out True Food--and I'm so glad I did! The bar area is gorgeous too--not overwhelmed with bottles--and I love that they offer zero-proof cocktails. Big win! I ordered the side of pesto pasta because ever since getting back from Aruba, I've been seriously craving it--and let me tell you, they nailed it! I recently noticed this restaurant and wanted to try it. Prior to visiting, I viewed an online menu and was intrigued by some of the dishes and healthy sounding beverage options. Upon reading some really good reviews, I was convinced that I wanted to eat here. The indoor ambiance was great with lots of lighting. The open concept design added to the restaurant's overall appeal. It was still rather early in the day, so about 40% of the seating was occupied. When we arrived, we were seated in less than five minutes. While waiting for someone to take our order, we perused the menus provided by the hostess. We began by ordering peach lemonade and pink lemonade. The peach lemonade was okay. The peach and lemon flavors were almost non-existent, it was mostly watered down with a slightly tangy, cinnamon aftertaste. Based on the flavor or lack thereof, I would not order it again. On the upside, I was told that the pink lemonade was really good. For the appetizer, we ordered the charred cauliflower. I really thought it would be a pretty good dish, but it was just okay. For me, it was essentially roasted cauliflower covered with sauce. The tahini was the most prominent flavor in the dish. I love tahini, but the dish needed something more to add complexity to it. The presentation was good. Since this was a light lunch and really just an opportunity to sample the food and get a feel for the restaurant, we shared a margherita pizza. For comparative purposes, someone seated at the next table ordered a mushroom pizza and it was a good portion that could feed two. The pizza that we ordered was rather small, so had we known that it was more so a personal pizza, we would have ordered two. The pizza as a whole was okay, but the crust was amazing. The sauce was lackluster and actually tasted like tomato soup. The presentation was good. The service was fair and kind of laidback. My overall opinion of the food was just okay. I reviewed the online menu before visiting, so I thought I knew what to order. When I arrived the menu slightly differed from the one reviewed online, so perhaps menus vary from location to location or something. read more
