The food is genuinely good -- solid, real, no complaints there. The issue is everything that happens around it. We were seated on the sofa side along the wall, which in hindsight may have been mistake number one. Last time near the mall entrance, the experience was noticeably better. This time, service felt like it was on a timer I didn't agree to. Food arrived before utensils. Midway through the main course, the bill was already dropped off -- with a cheerful "no rush," which somehow still felt like a countdown. Before we could finish the pizza, dessert was already being pushed, and despite asking to pause, it was basically ordered for us anyway. Good food, but you eat at the pace of the waiter, not your own. Wouldn't rush back for lunch. read more

Not sure this place is for me I saw the reviews for this place and wanted to check it out. So, the last time we were at the mall, we came here for lunch. The restaurant is clean, and the service is friendly. The food and menu, however, weren't really to my liking. Not knowing that this was a health-conscious restaurant, when I was asked if I wanted something to drink, I replied with "Diet Coke." That's when our server explained the health concept of the place and mentioned that they didn't carry soda. I was a bit confused because of the amount of alcohol I saw on the menu and at the bar after hearing about the health angle. He suggested a drink similar to ginger ale, but since that drink would cost more than a beer, I went with the beer instead. Now, moving on to the food: the charred cauliflower wasn't bad (could've used a bit more char), but the main dishes were disappointing. The tuna poke bowl didn't look appetizing, and the rice didn't seem fully cooked. The all-American burger also missed the mark. I asked for it medium-well, but it was closer to medium. It wasn't terrible in terms of cooking, but it lacked flavor. I'm not sure if the burger was properly seasoned, because all I tasted was cooked ground beef, a bit of Thousand Island dressing, and bread. The fries were okay--not bad for a restaurant that chooses to air-fry instead of deep-fry to be healthier. However, the ketchup, which I had to request, tasted like standard commercial ketchup. I've been wanting to visit True Food Kitchen for a while now. The healthier food options were an automatic draw, as I've been purposely eating cleaner this year. During my visit, I appreciated that they had numerous options to choose from. To start, my friend & I shared the Mediterranean Hummus appetizer. I really did enjoy the overall flavors. The texture was pleasant and it had a bold taste. If I could change anything, it would be to use naan bread instead of the baked flatbread (just my own preference). For the main course, I ordered the Ancient Grain Bowl with Shrimp, and it was really good. I did find that some of the snap peas were tougher to chew than others, but every ingredient plated was fresh. The sweet potato, mushrooms, avocado, and pistachio pesto, really tied the dish together. My drink, "Bright Eyes" was much better than I expected. The predominant flavors were the Beets and Lemon that gave it an earthy taste that I didn't mind. We were too full to order dessert, but perhaps next time. I would happily return to try more menu items, as the staff were efficient and the space was comfortable. read more

True Food Kitchen is a big open space, very clean establishment. I was promptly sat and a server approached my table in a timely manner. I started with a cup of the butternut squash soup and a pomegranate spritzer. The soup was the perfect temperature and sooo delicious, I'd only recommend they leave out the crispy sage on top, super bitter and unpleasant chewing into straight sage leaves. The spritzer was bubbly and refreshing. My son had a kids cheese pizza, which was fresh and super cheesy, he ate half of it, which is always a good sign! I dined on the steak frites, ordered medium. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the side salad it came with was nice. I had to deduct a star for the fries. Man, they were AWFUL. They were small bits and pieces and were hard and dry, they tasted as if they had been re fried and thrown on the plate. I didn't eat any more of those. All in all the experience was great and I'll definitely be back to try some other menu options. They also have some nice vegetarian options. read more

One of my favorite restaurants at Roosevelt Field Mall. I love the bright and inviting decor. The staff is always so friendly and great. I just went for their trio lunch menu. The food is delicious. Healthy ficus without the taste sacrifice is so rare. Bev did a great job as our server. The inside looks upscale and comfy. The cheesy mashed potatoes are bomb. The hummus is way better than what you'd get at a grocery store and the variety is great. Even the cocktails are good. I'd skip the juices unless you're looking for a healthy alternative and can't drink water as an adult. Parking is rough and you definitely will need to adjust to not feeling "full" because the ingredients are cleaner. read more

Restaurant is located at the outside of the Roosevelt Field Mall, it has a lot of seating and wonderful decor all over the restaurant. They had explained how their menu worked and if I needed anything in particular, I can just ask. Bright Eyes ($9.75)- Pineapple, carrot, organic apple, ginger, turmeric, beet, and lemon. It had a nice kick from the ginger and expected it to be sweeter than it was. Edamame Dumplings ($14.95)- White truffle oil, dashi, thai basil. This had a nice amount of truffle flavor with a similar texture to grits. Without the dashi-based broth it would be too bland. Butternut Squash Pizza ($17.95)- Organic butternut squash, lemon almond ricotta, caramelized onion, organic kale and raisins. What a interesting combinations of ingredients that made it feel like more of a dessert pizza than a savory one. There was a generous with the amount of toppings but the dough itself could have been in the oven a little more Ancient Grains Bowl with added Chicken Tenders (18.35+$7.50)- Miso sesame glazed sweet potato, charred onions, snap peas, portobello, avocado, organic grains, pistachio pesto, hemp seeds and turmeric. This bowl was very filling since it had a lot of vegetables and grains, the taste was not my favorite because I felt like the sweet potatoes were a little too salty even when mixed together with the other ingredients. Chicken itself was a little dry but that is usually to be expected when using chicken breasts. Overall I thought the food itself was average and the some of the items was on the more expensive side but the service from Maggie and the staff were accommodating. Went for lunch to TFK aware of the kind of food they serve, however I had hope I would like it and it could be one of my regular eateries and be part of the rotation. One must have a taste for vegan food/taste and I don't have it but the menu and the my order I know they are true to their name. The restaurant is big and bright. First time here - came for breakfast with my husband and 3 yr old. Beautiful clean and happy lighting, very spacious which is great when you have a million bags for your toddler. Most importantly the food was delicious and really nicely priced (way cheaper than my own neighborhood so I wish something like this was in Forest Hills). For all 3 of us (and my son got a kids pancake entree also), plus my husband and I got coffee, it was $52 incl tip and tax. In my own neighborhood this is sadly impossible, and with not as good brunch too. So I'm a bit envious! I got the Farmer's Hash which had all yummy veggies, steak, avocado, and perfectly fried sunny side up eggs. Coffee was nice and big too. Bathrooms clean and well lit. Friendly service! My husband & I decided to try this restaurant today for lunch because we loved all of the healthy options. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was for us to get a table on a Saturday afternoon, but we'd soon learn why. As others have shared, the restaurant decor is lovely, and the food is delicious. Unfortunately, the drinks are underwhelming, and the service is sub par. We were seated immediately, but waited for some time to be greeted. Our server took our drink & appetizer orders and then went on her merry way. She didn't stop to check & see if we needed anything or clear our plates. I had to stop and ask her if anyone was going to clear our appetizer plates before the entrees arrived, and she grabbed the plates and placed them on the empty high top table beside us until some other waiter happened to walk by and grab them. I have no idea why she didn't just take them and place them in the back for cleaning. Almost immediately after our plates were clear another young lady brought out of entrees. I have the lasagna and my husband had the grilled salmon. Both were delicious. Once again, our server did not stop by to check and make sure that our orders We're 2-hour liking or inquire as to whether we needed anything. She just busy herself with other customers - mind you, the place was practically empty. I counted about 8 tables of two to four customers at that time, and there were at least two other servers actively interacting with their customers. After we cleaned our plates, we sat and watched our server do everything but come to our table. I noticed the manager sitting nearby and asked to speak with him. After sharing our concerns, the manager apologize and offered bus desserts at no charge. We appreciated it, but it didn't change the quality of our experience or lack thereof. While waiting for our dessert, which took so long we thought they had to bake them from scratch, a young lady walked in to place a to-go order from the bar. After standing for a while without being acknowledged, she about faced, shrugged her shoulders and walked out. I'd love to see this restaurant chain thrive, but we won't be returning or recommending it to anyone we know. I waited tables while in undergrad, so I understand the nature of the business. This team may a refresher training on providing quality service. If you're going to try them, I'd recommend using placing an online order to be delivered to your home. read more

My first time here and it was a pleasant experience. They are located by the Roosevelt Field Mall. They have a separate entrance but it's part of the mall. There's parking obviously but it's busy in general here especially during "rush hours". The separate entrance allows you to not even enter the mall if you're not planning on it. Plenty of seating here and the menu is healthy and they don't have anything that's fried. Service was awesome and our server asked if it was our first time and it was so he walked us thru the menu. I absolutely loved my burger from here. So yes food is great, service was great and the decor is perfect. Only bad thing and it's not with the restaurant but if you have a child and walk here from inside the mall you will pass the play space which you can see down below :P so my son kept begging to go. My hubs ended up taking him and I sat alone eating in peace. Actually wait that's not a bad thing at all! It was awesome lol. So yeah highly recommend :) I can't remember what I drank from here but I do remember it was beyond delicious. I wanna say lemonade or a special lemonade they must have. read more

Just an update for this review.. I'd order from here every so often because I really enjoyed their food initially. I ordered here on July 13, 2025 a turkey burger. And it was great until I bit into a big hard piece of metal in my burger that almost made me think I broke my tooth. I called back to inform them, didn't make a deal out of it because things happen sometimes, and I was informed I'd be refunded within 7-10 business days. As of today it is August 3, 2025 and I still haven't received a refund. I have called several times and still haven't made a huge deal out of it. I just want my $25 back. Coming here since it opened in GC. Gave it 5 stars at the time in 2020. Today was a solid 1 star. Empty at 2 pm, little if no heat, sat with coat and scarf on, bathroom disgusting in handicapped stall. My market salad was thrown together and missing pistachios and dates. I checked ingredients on website menu when i got home. Won't be returning, totally turned off today and hate to dine in an empty restaurant. read more

I've been here twice and there's a reason why I gave it four stars instead of five. First off, the staff was attentive, nice & helpful both times I went. The second time I was here, everything I ate was very good, I got the True Trio lunch special which came with a main dish, a side & a beverage. The grilled chicken ranch wrap, organic tuscan kale salad & pink dragonfruit lemonade was the perfect clean meal I was craving. When I went last year, I went for the happy hour, the drink I had was very good, but the chicken sandwich I had ordered was definitely not worth the $15 that it cost. I think they may have changed this specific item since because it now comes on ciabatta, but when I had it, it came on a burger bun and honestly reminded me of an overpriced McChicken. read more

I like the concept, the decor is beautiful, and the service was good, but the food was really not good. We ordered sandwiches with two sides. The burger meat and chicken filet were fine, but the buns were stale, fries were soggy and order of sweet potato chips were mostly crumbs. Definitely not worth the price! After we were seated a man walked in, plopped himself in the table next to us, plugged in his laptop and proceeded to have a loud 20 minute phone conversation about real estate. I couldn't understand why he had to sit next to us though the restaurant was only a third full and there were plenty of empty seats where patrons wouldn't have to be subjected to his loud opinions. I later saw him walking around giving staff orders, which led me to believe he may be a supervisor. He should've been talking less and checking food quality better. read more

I've been to this restaurant a few times and generally enjoy the atmosphere and menu, but I wanted to share an experience that could be important for others with dietary restrictions. On a recent Sunday visit, we ordered the blueberry pancake from the brunch menu and asked if it could be made dairy-free. Our server told us it could be by removing the Greek yogurt. However, after placing the order, we didn't see him again, and another server ended up taking over our table. When we returned the following Saturday, we ordered the same pancake and again requested it dairy-free. Initially, the server let us know that the pancake could not be made dairy-free because the yogurt is part of the batter. After I mentioned our experience from Sunday, she went to double-check. She then came back and told us she had placed the order and that it would be dairy-free. Shortly after, a manager came over to clarify that while the Greek yogurt topping can be removed, there is still dairy in the pancake batter itself. While I appreciate that the staff took the time to verify and that the manager addressed the situation, the back-and-forth and conflicting information were confusing--especially for a restaurant that promotes itself as food-conscious and accommodating to dietary needs. It was also concerning that the kitchen proceeded with the order despite the misunderstanding. For anyone with allergies or strict dietary restrictions, I would recommend confirming ingredients carefully and asking staff to double-check with the kitchen to be safe. Overall, I still enjoy coming here, but I hope the team can improve communication and staff awareness of menu ingredients to better support guests with dietary needs. read more

Loved this place. The food is fresh, healthy and not greasy, which I appreciate. For starters, I had the hummus with homemade pita which was yummy. I have to remind myself to take more pics of the food before devouring it, but the hummus was so yummy that I genuinely forgot. For entree, I had the turkey burger and I liked that it had kale salad as a side. Thought I'd miss the usual French fry side-but this tasted way better and my stomach thanked me for not feeling too weighed down afterwards. Drinks were also pretty good. Oh mine... I was shocked that there's such a health-conscious and nutritious restaurant. Their ingredients are very fresh and high-quality. Their foods are less salt, less sugar and less oil. Bread is homemade. Pizza is sourdough. This is a mother's kitchen. I can taste the natural flavors without heavy seasoning or heavy sauce. After the meal, you wouldn't feel too overwhelmed.
