Honestly... 3 weeks later (dragging it BUT!) I needed to write this review. I walked through the back and was told to go to the host stand in the front, absolutely reasonable. I stood there for like 15 minutes waiting to be sat while 4 people were behind the bar just looking at me and my partner. When we sat we had a server who should've been assisted bc something was off. She was overbearing and overwhelming in a way. They were out of the drinks we originally wanted and what we got was awful, Bloody Mary (I think) and the espresso flight was awful. (Salty for me may not be salty for you) The burger description said it comes with bacon but the cook left out the bacon. The server brought out the bacon after half the burger was consumed. (Missing bacon wasn't the first thing checked but eventually the taste of bacon was missing ...and when asked the bacon was brought out on a plate, sitting in some residual oils. Eeks... The pickles were stuffed inside the burger and they were not cut like pickle chips. It was cut to serve on the side. Food Presentation was less than ideal. Service Polite but not knowledgeable. The server said the burger comes with a poached egg, when the food came, it was served with a fried egg. Not a big deal but inaccurate data. Ambiance Like... I'm dining inside sephora. Its a strange black and white stripe decor. The chairs are comfortable. The tables is a tad too high and wobbly. Food, service and ambiance not on par with prices charged. It doesn't warrant a repeat visit even if the prices were lowered. Its missing a chef with a passion to make tasty food. The serving staff needs a better understanding of the menu and what is being served. I had a really nice breakfast at East Rock Coffee. The atmosphere was adorned with Valentine's decorations, creating a cutesy vibe that was exactly what we wanted. The staff was welcoming and sat us down promptly. I ordered a special item being promoted for February, the Red Velvet Waffles. I can't say it tasted exactly like red velvet; it had more of a mixed berry sort of taste, but it was good nonetheless, especially with the side of sausage and fresh fruit. (It tasted even better the next day after being reheated in the oven.) The real star of our visit was the Shrimp and Grits. It was well-seasoned and had a great consistency. To celebrate his birthday, my son chose here for us to have Sunday Brunch. Reservations are not required but I'm glad I made them. It's a small place with brightly colored decor. After being seated by the hostess and handed menus, she explained to us how to order. We make our selections then go up to the counter and order our meals. The gentleman who took our order was friendly. You're given a number to display on your table and the meal and drinks are brought to you. My son had a Rum Rock Punch and The TEA. I ordered a Margarita Flight (choice of four) and the Shrimp and Grits. The food was fresh and flavorful, both of us throughly enjoyed our meals. The drinks were also good. So for starters this place is super cutesy and the hostess was a doll. There wasn't enough table seating so my friend and I sat at the bar. My friend had their fall special pistachio latte & I had their chai with hazelnut and cinnamon. Both drinks were really good & the mug is a pretty big size. For food she had the ciabatta chicken sandwich and I had the shrimp and grits. We subbed the pork bacon for turkey bacon and truly enjoyed our meals. We also shared the tees leches French toast which was suggested by the bartender. That was really good but also very sweet so if you're not into that then maybe steer clear. I left East Rock Coffee very confused after having brunch. We were originally sat inside. We ordered with our waitress and asked if we could sit outside since the seat we had was in direct line with the air conditioner and the other table available would have presented the same issue. We were told that we not receive table side service if we moved there but we already placed our order so it did not really matter. Before ordering we asked our server questions about various menu items to be incorrectly informed on what the drinks had or to be told those items weren't available. For some reason there is no description for certain drinks on the menu even though the waitress claimed these were the most popular drinks. Many menu items are also very pricey including the drinks. A friend and I ordered a lavender lemonade and a toasted marshmallow latte to start. We moved outside and our food was brought out before our drinks. My friend ordered teriyaki chicken and waffles and I ordered the pancake parfait. My friend received regular fried chicken. We had to inquire about where our drinks were. The lemonade came out soon after this inquiry. By the time my latte came out I was almost done with my meal. I asked for a spoon which I never received. The latte also tasted like milk. No espresso flavor or toasted marshmallow flavor. I went inside to ask to speak with management and I was told they were not in at the moment. The waitress we originally had did apologize for all the mistakes and did take the latte off of our check. There was no discount given for the incorrect chicken order. What really confused me was every other table outside received table side service which we were told we would not receive if we sat outside. There seems to be a lot of miscommunication and confusion throughout this establishment. I did enjoy the parfait pancakes and my friend did enjoy the chicken and waffles despite receiving the wrong chicken. I will give 1 star for my food order. Since we already waited long enough for previously ordered items to come out we did not want to send the order back. The staff did offer to rectify it by bringing the teriyaki sauce out. Once again, it was brought out when my friend was almost done with her meal. To be fair, she did not present this issue right away but several minutes passed before receiving it. I seen this establishment on Instagram and decided to stop by I am always looking for a good matcha latte. They have a parking in the back, when I walked in I was greeted right away. The decor is beautiful the flower wall paper, the seating is green and gold. I ordered a medium matcha latte to stay once you pay the barista gives you a number to take to any table and she will bring you, your food/ beverage. The latte was good nice flavor to it and it didn't have a bunch ice filled to the top of the cup like most establishments do. This is an absolute gem in Garden City! From the moment we walked in, me and my friend were greeted with such warmth and hospitality. Huge shout out to the manager, Michael, and our amazing server, Gio both truly went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. Both were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about our experience. The cafe is pretty sort of reminds me of Sephora because of the black and white colors and I love the pink decor. We came on a busy Sunday morning, and the place was packed definitely recommend making a reservation during peak hours. The wait can be long, but it's worth it. There's a convenient parking lot behind the restaurant, which made things so much easier as I do not like struggling to find a spot. We ordered the East Rock Plate, the Garden City Omelette, the ricotta pancake, a cappuccino, and the East Rock Pink Coffee. Every single item was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. They have pink Christmas decor up with the cutest nutcrackers. The walls are striped and the seating area has floral wallpaper. It was very girly and definitely my daughter's cup of tea. I don't give out 5 stars... ever. My experience today deserved it. Hubby and I were interested in a fancy coffee drink so we decided to check this place out. It was busy and jumpin g when we walked in so we told the Hostess we were going to do a takeout drink. First off- the Hostess was super inviting and escorted us to the bar for takeout since we weren't going to be dining in. We walked back to the bar and the Manager greeted us and showed us seats at the bar in case we changed our minds about dining in.... We did From the front door greeting to a meal at the bar- EVERYONE was super engaging, inviting and friendly. The place was full and jumping and we never felt like just another number. Our Bartender Gio curated the coolest experience- we had a PEC; Espresso martini; East Rock Pink drink, Ricotta pancakes and Caesar salad. I have not one complaint except that I had no space for more. We laughed, we ate, we drank and were treated like family. Owner was in-house and spent almost 20 minutes chatting with us. I'm so glad my friend, stumbled upon East Rock Cafe in Garden City! I've had the pleasure of dining here twice. The first time was during the week on a Thursday afternoon, I ordered the PEC and an iced coffee. The PEC's croissant was crispy, flavorful, and indulgent. The eggs were very fluffy (cottage cheese like). The coffee was rich and refreshing. My second visit was via the weekend - Sunday Brunch. I went for the stack pancakes (a towering masterpiece of 3 pancakes!) and a mocha latte. The pancakes were cooked to perfection, and the mocha latte was velvety smooth with just the right balance of chocolate and coffee in one of the largest mugs I've ever seen. The atmosphere is trendy and inviting, with friendly service. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try more of their delicious menu offerings! I recommend East Rock Cafe for a tasty breakfast or brunch spot! I believe this spot would flourish moreso if the waitstaff would take orders instead of individuals placing their orders at the counter and then given a number. The decor is reminiscent of Victoria's Secret meets Betsy Johnson... in the most flattering way! I'm a sucker for lush and plush decor, so naturally I love the comfy cushioned plush velvet chairs in a rich emerald green set against the backdrop of a bold flower motif along the walls. As for the fair, well the crème brûlée French toast was absolutely delicious and moist, iced coffee rich in flavor, and the lavender Hugo spritz perfect and not overly sweet. To top it off, the staff is attentive. I usually just order a coffee to go as it's regularly super crowded, but this time we were lucky to have gone during off-peak hours and had our choice of seats. Went to brunch on a Monday Holiday. We parked in the back which was difficult to find and the parking lot is enormous but shared with other places. We got there after 12pm and the placed was packed with people dining. Had to wait standing at the front entrance which may have been 15 mins. Some people there were taking their time, it was a holiday! We sat at a 2 person table near front entrance. It eas a cold day so when people entered, the cold breeze would give you a small chill. When we did sit down it did not take long for our young male enthusiastic waiter to come. We decided to go full Monty in terms of the drinks. You will see it in the review. The chicken and waffles were good! The waffle was crispy to my liking and the coating on the chicken was flavorful and the inside meat was tender. They were generous with the syrup. I ordered the margarita flight which was amazing. Had the flavors of lychee, mango, passion fruit, classic and raspberry! I felt quite nice leaving this place and we had so much time to spend. My friend ordered the Rock Benedict which was also quite good. In the meantime, we met the operations manager who was a pleasant person to talk to. This cafe is so insanely cute! I love the wallpaper and the chairs. And the people who work here from the owners to the bartenders to the waiters are amazing, such nice people. My sister and I had brunch here in a Sunday and although I believe we were lucky to be seated right away I can see this spot being busy on weekends. You order in the front and they will bring your food out at the table. If you are ordering to go, it is a bit confusing as they line up all the drinks near the registers but there are no names or drinks indicating what drink it is. The French toast was amazing.
