I've been taking classes here for a little over three years and it is hands-down, my favorite hot yoga, studio. It's women-owned, which I love supporting, and it consistently provides a great space to practice. The environment is always welcoming, and the instructors are excellent. I absolutely adore true hot yoga! There is not another place I would rather be in Scottsdale. I do Wish that both the Scottsdale and arrowhead location had more barre and sculpt classes! I would also love to see this studio discontinue providing plastic bags for clients to put their dirty clothes in. It would be absolutely wonderful if the studio owners would provide a bin for students to bring in old plastic bags for donation and to be reused. Three and a half stars.. not quite four but just above three. My coworker asked me if I wanted to go to hot yoga with her and told me that this place she goes to has a Groupon going right now. So I bought the Groupon to try it out and while I love the yoga and stretching, I'm not so crazy about the "hot" part. Nonetheless, I used six out of my ten classes before my Groupon expired. I wish it was like a punch card though and I could use all ten. The heat would not have been so bad if they didn't also pump the room with humidity. Again, not my thing but the class sizes showed that it appealed to other people. I wish the instructors would do the moves too because with the humidity machine pumping so hard and the music going it is nearly impossible to hear some of the instructors. During my last class I wasn't feeling great, got a little light headed and felt sick to my stomach so I left the room to sit in the bench, the instructor came out and said "if you come back in, stay on your mat, for everyone else's concentration" which was a really confusing set of instructions to me, was I coming off my mat too much? Not like I was walking around the room or pacing the back wall or anything.. and I feel like removing myself from the class was a lot less distracting than me tossing cookies would have been. But of six classes this was the only one that I felt the instructor was a bit strange. Also, they don't have a water fountain?? I feel like this place, of all places, NEEDS one! You can fill up your bottle in the bathroom but the sinks are bowl shaped and it is difficult to get your bottle under the faucet. It would be great if they had one of those water fountains that also fills up water bottles on top! read more

Such a great workout! I signed up using a 15-Class Pass through Groupon, and I called ahead to make sure I can join a class time and the staff is super friendly and very helpful. This is the first time I've ever done yoga, and adding the heat element definitely made it tough. I'm an elite/competitive runner, and I've heard that yoga is very good for runners and helps with breathing and core strength. This class definitely did not disappoint. Anabel Terry was an amazing instructor, and I'd definitely be going back. I love that True Hot Yoga is welcoming to all experience levels, whether it is from beginner to advanced. Temps and humidity are up her for the full hot yoga experience. I think they have heaters every 10 feet on all walls! Teacher is good and moves around room to demonstrate things or give you a nudge. Room is a little echoey so I could not always here what she is saying and there were only a few people in the room who seemed to know what to do. Just keep you eye on them! The True Hot is 1.5 hours so hang in there! I felt great afterwards! ***update. Tru Hot class is only 1 hour and 15 min now (they also provide an opportunity to leave at 1 hour mark and skip stretches/ abs) and they fixed the echo thing. Wonderful teachers and a lovely space - this small studio is a great choice for for powerful flows or deliciously challenging Yin classes. They have lots of props and a water cooler, but bring your own hand towels. Jessie Toporek's Yin class is amazing - her soothing tones and prop expertise will help you bear holding poses for long periods of time. Take this class - though it can feel extremely relaxing, it will open you up and expand your flow practice. Shaelyn McCole's flow class is a can't-miss - wonderfully stretchy and strengthening, with a sequence so well-creafted that you might find yourself able to do things you didn't think you could. John Salisbury is just an incredible teacher - easily one of the top 5 I've ever taken. His alignment cues will blow your mind, while his tunes make you smile. I learn something in every class. A friend of mine is participating in his teacher training program and I hear it's absolutely illuminating. I look forward to taking it someday. read more

A few years ago, I wanted to try hot yoga and figured I'd look to Groupon to get a good deal. I found True Hot Yoga in my home city and decided to check it out. I liked it so much that I bought another Groupon 6 months later, and most recently a few months ago. Disclaimer: these deals are not valid for those who have been to the studio in the last year or with an active package. When you go, keep it minimal: bring with you a yoga mat, yoga towel to put on the mat, and water. Wear flip flops (no socks) and leave personal belongings in your car trunk (take your keys obviously). Leave your flip flops in the cubby or on the floor outside of the room and enter. The yoga room is a good size with space for 2 rows: one in the front closer to the mirror and one in the back. There are mirrors on the two sides as well, which are helpful for checking your posture. If you haven't done yoga before, hot yoga here follows the same routine of poses and exercises and you get the hang of it after a few sessions. I've enjoyed the past and current teachers I've had; everyone has been competent and slightly different in their teaching methods, which keeps it interesting. Some play better music than others, but all provide a safe and welcoming space to workout. Hot yoga is tough, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, but it's great exercise. I always feel good afterwards and it's an ideal addition to other workouts because it helps to stretch the muscles. I haven't used their bathrooms to shower but they are available for use. I recommend doing these classes in the summer because you'll already be hot and sweaty and the temperature outside will match your body, which helps to keep you from getting sick. The regular packages are expensive, but if you find that the classes are enjoyable, they are worth it. I'd recommend at least trying a few sessions to see how you like it! read more

Very disappointed today as I still had 4 sessions (which are not cheap) and the lady at the front counter told me that they expired and wasn't willing to work with me. This wasn't a Groupon purchase, I bought one of their packages. I think if they were willing to work with me I would have ended up buying another package once I used my remaining classes but this just left a bad taste in my mouth about their policies. ** Update ** My hubby convinced me to call back and double check that policy with a manager. Turns out that's not the case. I didn't even speak to a manager. The lady who answered the phone (Hayden) apologized and confirmed that package classes do not expire. There is a reason I stay at Sumits yoga. I decided to try the true hot yoga on a Groupon in order to see the changes in the classes. Today in class after completing 60 minutes in 105° yoga studio I ran out of water. I grabbed my bottle to refill quickly because there was another 20 minutes left in class. I ask the instructor where the fountain was and she said THERE IS NO WATER FOUNTAIN!!. You have to BUY the water or walk down the road to another studio!?!? Are you kidding me? I told the instructor I just wanted water to finish the class and she said you can buy it. Why would you have a hot yoga studio and force people to buy your water? This is not a good business practice and once my Groupon is completed I will no longer come to the studio. read more

What a great hot yoga studio! I came in pretty nervous considering I'm the least flexible, least patient person out there, but the staff was extremely welcoming and calming. Before the class began, I went to the water and ice store (how convenient!) right next to it, to make sure I was prepared for the 80 minute, 101 degree, 60% humidity class that was about to take place. Hannah was the instructor and was hands down the best yoga instructor I have ever experienced. I say this because even though she didn't do all the moves with us, she was so descriptive that I knew what she meant without her showing us. She was knowledgeable, tranquil yet upbeat, and motivating. As for pricing, they have so many deals! 2 weeks for $25 for new students, there are a couple groupons, and I saw a few deals on the board too. The only thing I would change is having one later class so I could make it after work, the last class is at 530 and often I don't get off work until six! read more

I bought a groupon for 15 classes at True Hot Yoga. The deal online is REALLY discounted compared to what you'd have to pay for 15 classes at the studio. They recently had a summer sale for class packages and even with the discount, the groupon deal is amazing. There is one caveat, you have to use your classes within 60 days of activating your groupon. The studio and facility is kept very clean, which is great because it can get really sweaty in there! The front desk staff are polite and courteous. And the instructors and knowledgeable and good at guiding you through practice. If you've never done hot yoga before, I'd recommend trying THY. Every hot yoga class is great for all levels and perfect for beginners. If you're new to practice the instructors make you feel welcome and are helpful at making sure you are doing the positions correctly. Make sure you bring lots of water and a towel because the heat and humidity of the studio really gives you a workout. read more

(McCormick Ranch location) I signed up for the 2-week trial and then bought a package. I give 5 stars to Lynn, an instructor who told me a) it's often difficult for the first 3 months, and b) once you break through the resistance, you will start craving hot yoga. I found it amusing to think that I could actually *crave* exercise, but lo and behold, both of her prophesies came true. Pros: This is not a Bikram studio, so if you like hot yoga but are bored with the same old same old, this studio can mix it up a little. Most of the instructors I had were amiable and the other students were quite welcoming. The women's room has 2 good-sized showers and provides a lovely shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, etc. Cons: The studio itself is very echo-y and it can make it hard to hear the commands. And sometimes instructors will put on loud music during the class, rendering it impossible to hear the instructor. However, as long as at least one person around you knows what they're doing, the teacher could be speaking in Swahili and you'd have no problems following along. The -1 star comes from an unfortunate occasion I had to be privy to...I think the instructor thought everyone else was gone after a particular class, and he proceeded to rip someone at the front desk a new butthole. He screamed at this person (colleague? employee? class attendee?) for ten full minutes at the top of his lungs, blaming and shaming the poor soul like there was no tomorrow. Whether it was deserved or not, I really wish I hadn't heard that. read more

True hot power is awesome. I love the challenge and the intensity. Unfortunately, they only have around one (or less) classes power a day and the rest are all true hot yoga, their classic sequence. I would give their true hot power five stars no doubt. I love that it has its own room separate from the rest of the studio and that it doesn't get too crowded but it's hard for me to go often because the schedule always cancels the power classes when I'm in town which is really upsetting considering my classes expire soon. I don't know why they put so much emphasis on the true hot yoga sequence. It's literally the same every time so there's no variation from teacher to teacher. What's the point? You can't even see how you've improved because your body knows exactly what's coming. I honestly cannot do those classes they are just too boring. I wish true hot would increase the amount of power yoga sessions they held and then I'd update this review. read more

Love this place! I had neck surgery several months ago and my surgeon recommended Hot Yoga (which I had never done before). Needless to say it has changed my life. And the people at True Hot especially the owner Patty C and instructor Heidi H are awesome! BTW.. some of the complaints I see revolve around Groupon. A lot of people try to turn Groupon into a lifetime free membership (you know who you are). Electric and heating bills are real. Just saying. You definitely feel like you have gotten a workout at Sumits, and the different flows keep you engaged. I can't think of anything less than 5 stars (out of 5) to this amazing yoga studio. I go to a variety of workout places and I have started taking yoga classes consistently here since the past 3 months. I absolutely love True Hot Yoga (THY)! I never thought I would be able to get through a 80 minute hot yoga class, but with the help of wonderful Teacher Jessica Tanner, I did it. She is THE elitist yoga teacher, the music, the room temperature and the humidity in her classes is always flawless, a real no-judgment class with words of encouragement from her. And just 3 months later, I'm addicted to hot yoga and this studio. All the teachers at THY are dedicated to their students in the calss. The customer service is very friendly and excellent. Everyone feels very welcome as soon as we are at the front lobby. I would recommend THY to anyone who is interested in finding a new workout or just wants to change things up with their existing workout program. Additionally, True Hot is for beginners and lifelong yoga practitioners alike. It feels good after the hot yoga class here, and a different type of burn. The yoga practice here has really helped me relax and loosen up, making my other workouts better and spirits awaken. Great classes with great help during our initial visits. I'm a runner with hip problems and the two classes I did have helped tremendously. I would never pay full price for this studio. Here's why: EGHIND BHSHJ DRYHER. Did you get that? No? How about: FBEU YRTHDSJLO GRTHFSH! Now? No. Yes, that is because you cannot hear/understand JACK from the instructors. That coupled with utter failure to adjust students is a recipe for disaster/injury, which I abhor. If you are new to hot yoga, I would try another, personable studio. I'm experienced, so I will deal with this annoyance. The stars I am leaving is for flexible schedule, clean studio, and friendly front office staff. I love this studio! I immediately enjoyed the attitude of the place and felt extremely welcomed from when I first walked in. My very first class I was spoiled by being positioned right next to one of the instructors who happened to be taking the class that day and Sumit was teaching. This was my first time trying hot yoga and I have to say it- I'm in love! Everyone working there seems to be extremely hands-on and helpful. I love that you're told sometimes what a certain pose helps with in your body. I was impressed by the entire atmosphere: dimly lit, perfect music and just the right amount of encouraging words. Although I was extremely happy with my experience, being a newbie to the hot style of yoga I decided to try a bikram studio which (to me) just wasn't up to par with this studio. I rarely go out of my way to write bad reviews. It's hard for me as a business person that relies on my customers to succeed, but today True Hot Yoga inspired me to. I am new to the area, I just moved here one month ago from San Diego. I have been doing Core Power for 10 years, but it's too far from my new house in Scottsdale. I wanted to try this studio today, so I drove 20 minutes to get here. First, I was hassled because someone with my same name has been here for a new student offer in December (mind you I still have a Cali drivers license and license plate on my car). I have a very common first and last name, so I'm not surprised there is another "me" out there. In fact, a pro golfer has my same name, and Scottsdale is big for golf, so maybe it's her?! In addition to that, they have a check-in offer for new students, 1 week free. After the person at the front desk called the owner, she said, "they don't offer that at THIS location". However, the check-in offer is clearly attached to the location on yelp. Some advice for the owner (who was called to confirm I can not have the offer on yelp and I was possibly trying to rip her off): 1. Use an address or phone number to validate if someone has come as a new student before. Going on name alone is silly as there are many people out there with the same name. I worked for a Fortune 500 company years back and there were 3 of "me" working there. Accusing someone like me, in front of people no less, that I am trying to get away with something is super offensive and insulting on ALL levels. Not a great business practice. I am not and would not take advantage of a business, mostly because I have run my own business for years and was raised on the income of a small business, so I am very sensitive to be accused otherwise. 2. If you put an offer on YELP, that is clearly offered as a check-in for your location, don't tell me that it is not offered at that location and use bait and switch to try to get me to sign 2 weeks for $25. That it is illegal. I wonder if the Federal Trade Commission reads yelp reviews? And don't get confused, it is not about the $25, If the offer on yelp was for free, why would I pay the $25? Would you? It doesn't make sense for anyone. Don't offer it period. As a side note, after years of using yelp, this is the very first time I could not use a check-in offer. NEVER has it been a problem because the offers are attached to specific locations. That's how it works! 3. As I mentioned, I have been doing Core Power yoga for over 10 years. I have paid for an unlimited monthly membership for all 10 years. That's how much revenue you just lost, you do the math. And don't worry, like this yelp review, I will be spreading the word! I would hate for anyone to feel as embarrassed as I did in your studio today. I like to try out a yoga studio before committing, as most people do, that's why all studios offer it. I have a Cali license, I have cali drivers license plates on my car still. It is clear I am new to the area. Out of pure principal and embarrassment, I left. It's ridiculous. I don't care if it is the best yoga classes in AZ, I prefer to be treated properly. 20 minutes drive there, 20 minutes drive back home and I got nothing out of it. Don't let this place waste your time and insulting you while doing it. TERRIBLE! I can see why there are bad reviews here, I just left Tiffanys 9:30 hot yoga class and I'm appalled at the way I was spoken to and forcefully ushered out of the class. She yelled at me inside inside of the class and then pushed me until we were out into the lobby and then yelled at me again. It was an embarrassing and disrespectful experience. I have come here before with other instructors whom know how to treat paying customers. The receptionist was clearly in shock by Tiffanys behavior as well. I immediately called Patty the owner, and she started to defend her actions, saying customers enjoy her aggressive forceful behavior. She was avoiding the situation by only talking about her classes and her "policies". Word of mouth is very powerful and I will tell all of my clients to not come here. Its too bad that this experience with Tiffany and Patty was so horrible because even though JESSICA Rs amazing attitude and class are top notch I will not recommend this studio. There are many other hot yoga studios- and what differentiates from one studio to another is the way they treat their clients. read more

I bought a groupon for 12 sessions and have used not even half of my sessions. The manager and owner reach out to me via email saying I have 4 classes unpaid for and that they cannot honor my Groupon because they have a file with my same name. I ask the owner to look into my file because I have only been to summits before and I would gladly pay for a package once I am done using my Groupon. The owner never got back to me. i am working in north scottsdale again and wanted to find a nearby yoga spot to stay in shape and try to heal my knee at. i found sumits and while i am not a fan of heated it can be good for toning up a bit. the first two microphone blaring instructors were tolerable the third one (David) was an outright jerk/ass. i get there tonight at 5:30 and start signing in and right away start getting harassed by this guy: "are you new?" he asks. "31 years new i guess." is my reply. (blank stare) he gives back. "are you new?" he asks again. "to yoga, or this studio?" I ask back. (stares at me) he replies. so i smile and offer my hand "i am roger" i say and he goes for the death grip "david" he replies. "we are gonna get started here soon" "well i hope i dont ruin everything being a few minutes late" i reply. "its just rude to show up to yoga late" he snaps back. wow! what a professional attitude to take with someone who is trying out a studio that you are a substitute at. what a yogic attitude to take with someone who is going to be your student for 70 minutes for the first time. peace be with you my friend. this is unreal to me and seems very opposite to what yoga is. however i guess the microphone should have given it away. this is not yoga. this is an aerobics class masquerading as yoga. and the combative attitude that David showed me today is typical of a GYM not a yoga studio. so i left. i may go back a few more times cause i have a week left on the intro program that i am doing for $20, but after that this place wont see another dime from me. oh and i love how up till the two negative reviews showed up today the only other review was from the owner himself. try yoga village across the 101 or head to chandler and tempe for innervision or phoenix for gravity center yoga. all of which i have reviewed before. read more
