This company frustrates me so much I don't know where to begin or where their shenanigans end, so I'll keep it brief. The over-the-phone assistance (I think there are two employees?) is okay, but the techs, and anyone else who gets sent out to the field is sloppy and inconsistent (for example, we were first told air purifiers would be $700 each, but were later given an estimate for close to $3,000 for two). When they're not promising to show up at one time and arriving at another (the opposite from what you'd expect, showing up WAY earlier than discussed), they're contradicting each other's work, not being thorough with clients, and barely behaving as the professionals they're supposed to be. In our experience, this has involved vaping coming in through the front door (at an asthmatic's residence), showing up with Beats headphones around their ears, and blowing snot on our front doorstep when there are two very obvious Ring cameras right there; we also had another tech opt to knock on the door of a three-level building when there are two doorbells right in front of him - why? Additionally we've experienced an item in the house being broken with the techs choosing not to say anything but rather replace it with what they thought was so similar we wouldn't notice (we did, because it was so glaringly different, and this also caused them to be gone from the house for some time while they ran to Lowe's and...I'm guessing, to eat?) and a "contractor" that made an absolute war zone in our house and were not even licensed, if you can believe that; they were let go before they would have ever been close to finishing the job after several weeks of disarray. They've had occasional times of transparency and have apologized for their past actions, but I see an overall lack of training on just basic skills, communication, and...I hate to say it...common sense. We're not savages and we're not unreasonable people - if you need to blow your nose, you can use our bathroom; if you need to take a lunch break or you accidentally broke something, just tell us - it's not difficult. The case could be made that they provide products and services slightly less than their big box competitors, but, just like the tired old cliché goes, "you get what you pay for." Oh, and they always leave a mess...always insulation left on the floor for me to clean up. True North, quit allowing your techs to behave like animals in customers' homes - just start with that, please. read more

Fantastic in every way. Very professional, pet friendly, just good people. On the morning of the third 119deg day in a row, we noticed the central air unit short cycling. The condenser fan would run for 30min, coming to a literal grinding stop. My call to True North was answered quickly by a customer service professional who quickly assured me that a technician would be out the next day. This was a huge surprise. With our current weather forecast, I thought an appointment would take 3-4 days. The next day, Johnny knocked on our door and couldn't have been nicer. Bonus points for being a dog person. Was charged $600+ for a simple capacitor fix. I was stunned to learn how cheap a capacitor is on Amazon and how easy it is to replace. I want small businesses to make profit but what I was charged for the parts and labor was rediculous. UPDATE: In response to the company's reponse, yes, he installed a start assist kit. Is that about another $30 in parts? And true, the repair was on 4th of July. But their office stated that they were open and didn't charge extra for the holiday. It's a real struggle to think about $50 of parts and a relatively short amount of labor still comes to $600+. As for the waived fee, that was only waived after I raised concerned about the high price. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but I got exceptional service from True North. I would recommend them to all my friends and family members. My heat pump was 14 years old and starting to fail. My house had the original ductwork from 1986. I requested quotes from 6 different companies. A few just sent estimates for a heat pump swap out but Ture North sent Mike out to check the duct work in the attic. After so much time, all of the duct connections were leaking. Most were undersized, especially the main outlet and return ducts and others were poorly routed leading to less flow. Mike explained that in addition to replacing the ducts, the air handler manifolds would need to be replaced and resized to correctly handle the flow. He offered a significant discount if I did the ductwork and the heat pump as a package deal. I carefully analyzed the cost. Some contractors charge more and then "throw-in" discounts to make it look like you're getting a good deal. True North gave me a straight-forward quote and the most value for my money. They are the real deal! They installed a Bosch high-efficiency invertor drive heat pump and replaced my manifolds and ducts. They added a new return to the master bedroom which was always the hottest room in the house. Now, the air handling system doesn't leak at all and the master bedroom stays nice and cool. I'm saving money by not uselessly cooling the attic. My wife and I are thrilled to finally sleep in cool comfort in a nice cool bedroom. Thank You True North! read more

Interviewed 3 companies to replace our A/C after confirming that there was a leak in the evaporator coils. The initial tech that came out for the quote did a quick diagnostic to confirm the issue and then gave us a quote fairly quickly after their visit. They didn't even charge us for the diagnostic and quote (the other companies did). We asked each company to provide quotes for 1-stage, 2-stage and variable systems. For each system, True North came in under the others by a significant amount. We ended up going with a 2-stage Trane, and paid half to start the job and the other half after the job was complete. The installers were not the same people who did the quote, but there no issues. We were informed ahead of time that the installation would take all day, which it did. The installers had a great attitude throughout the installation process, they were very professional and approachable. The installers were honest about breaking a pvc pipe in the attic, which they fixed and pressure tested. The installation came with a new ecobee thermostat which we really appreciated. One of the installers offered to walk me through using it, but I work in IT so I declined. Once the installation was complete, they vacuumed the entire walkway they used plus the small amount of insulation that fell from the attic. I was really impressed by their commitment to leaving the inside of our house the way they found it. I will absolutely be using using True North in the future to service my A/C and have already recommend them to a friend and family member. read more

True North AC installed an 18k BTU including electrical and painting the exterior line set cover in our Master Bedroom. They installed it on the inside wall where we wanted it and ran the line set through the studs to the outside. The installers were courteous, respectful of our property (placed drop cloths over furniture and floor), did quality work, and cleaned up well upon completion. We've been using it for over a month now, it's tough to sleep with windows open with allergies. It is so comfortable in our bedroom. My wife and I feel it was money well spent. Josh was a few minutes early (Punctuality, check); perused the lay of the units before bringing in gear and finished in less than an hour (Efficiency, check); easy going (Friendly, check); brought a leaf blower/shop vac to blow attic insulation away from the door and clean up carpeting afterwards (Cleanliness, check; currently running a promotion at $65 instead of $97 (Value, check.) Josh would have replaced my self-provided filters had I not already done that this past weekend. In preparation, I also moved things out of the way, covered up with drop cloths, and also left the heater off until his arrival (in case he needed to see it all in action from the start.) True North installed a new AC unit for us. They first provided a competitive quote with helpful suggestions and a detailed breakdown of the work. After accepting the quote, they scheduled the install for 2 weeks later. They arrived on time and completed the project within the estimated time (8-10 hours). There was some minor scuffs on the attic access trim due to the tight access, but otherwise cleaned up well. I am very happy with the overall results. They even rerouted one of our ducts for us to get better airflow in a bedroom that was previously not getting much. I never felt so strongly about the importance of providing a positive review as I do for True North Air. Unfortunately, the industry is fraught with a lack of integrity. Not the case at True North. Each employee we encounter at True North whether owner, by phone or in person is so professional and sincere to their task that you can tell the owner is careful to do what is right and hires good people. They have installed an evaporative coil replacement in our attic and serviced our system twice. Micah was professional and went above and beyond as has each True North rep has. Jacob was our last tech and he was similarly competent and dedicated to making sure our system was functioning properly without any exaggerated issues nor costs. Short version: Friendly, professional and straight-forward. They quoted us a no-pressure very reasonable price for AC replacement. Highly recommend! Long version: Our AC stopped blowing cold air on a Saturday night (because of course it had to give out on a weekend). This was the only company (I had reached out to several claiming to be 24-7 response) not only to actually reply the same day but make time on their Sunday to take a look. That alone is fantastic service! As we knew from a fix last year the unit was on its last legs, we made the decision to replace the unit entirely (with absolutely no pressure from True North as they could technically fix the Freon leak we had). For a replacement, they quoted us below the price we were quoted by another company the year prior. Additionally they provided us a portable AC to use so my husband could stay home with our pups. I can not be more pleased with how quick and efficient this company is. My air went out at the worst possible time, Sunday, July 4th at 11:00pm. Not being from AZ, single, and having trust issues with people trying to get over on me with fees, I called my prior supervisor. He gave me the name of this company and told me to ask for Johnny. This guy works quick and he had no problem with me hovering over him and asking questions especially since my home is only 4 years old.
