NEW PATIENTS PLEASE BE INFORMED... I'm new in Prescott and…read morereceived an advertisement/offer from this dentist in the mail stating, "New Patient Special, $150, Includes Comprehensive Exam, Full-Mouth X-Rays, and Cleaning Regular Price: $330 Expires in 90 days. Call for details." (This offer is also posted on their website) This was not the case. After excruciating, deeper than normal, gum probing and bleeding I was advised I needed an extensive deep cleaning, cost $910.00. Meaning, I needed 1-2 more appointments and the above offer did not include a general cleaning. So, if you have been a regular "dentist goer" ever 6 months, for 20+ years and you go to this dentist, you may be surprised and scared by their practice. He may be a great dentist, his staff may be personable but the approach to solicit new patients, in my opinion, is misleading and dishonest. Just hoping that other potential "new" patients don't feel, as I did, taken advantage of! BTW, a month later, I took a 3 1/2 hr. drive to get my teeth cleaned from my original dentist with all the information from the above dentist, they re-examined my teeth, went over my history and confirmed that what Curtis recommended was not necessary. I hope this helps someone, in some way.

Advanced Dental Center is the reason I still have healthy teeth--or probably any teeth at all…read more I've always been afraid of the dentist. As a kid, I regularly threw up on the poor dental technicians who dared come near my mouth. I'm not sure the staff here fully knows the extent of the emotional panic and turmoil that still builds inside me before even a routine cleaning or the psychological pep talk I give myself before every appointment in order to not cancel. And yet... under their care, I've survived multiple crowns and even a root canal--without any mishaps involving my stomach contents leaving their proper location. While I'm sure a few eyebrows have been raised at my awkward demeanor and desperate attempts to hide said oral anxiety, the team hides it well and always makes me feel genuinely comfortable and cared for. Dr. Edwards and his team are not only incredibly kind, but they're also excellent at what they do. Penny has the gentlest hand and somehow manages to make me feel not like a flossing failure--even though I'm confident she can tell that my "technique" involves cramming it all in a few days before, like I'm prepping for a chemistry final. (It's fine. I'm sure it's fine.) Christina is fantastic at communicating about scheduling, services, and billing. I have never once questioned or felt uneasy about their billing practices--which, let's be honest, is a rare experience in today's medical world. I actually felt compelled to write this after spending a morning exhausted and filled with rage, battling another medical office over confusing billing issues. That anxiety completely evaporated the moment I walked into Advanced Dental and was met with warm greetings, familiar smiles, and truly wonderful people who are really good at helping me forget that I'm a ball of anxiety over mouth maintenance Also, I truly appreciate the team's non-ironic compliments on my Chucks and band T-shirts. Nothing keeps me clinging to my last shred of youthful coolness like someone sincerely appreciating my wardrobe choices instead of assuming I'm just in denial about my age. You really will not find better oral care than Dr. Edward's and his team. I've brought my whole family there for many years now.

But then when I called in to confirm on the day of my appointment at 8am, I'm told that I miss my "8am" appointment. So I make another appointment, took the day off of work, show up, and I found out that they silently canceled my appointment in retaliation, without notifying me. Just like the previous appointment, there was no notification, no text message, no call, no voicemail, nothing at all to remind or clarify the appointment time. And nothing to clarify that they canceled my second appointment in anger. When I showed up on time for that second appointment, the dentist told me to get off of his property. There was no one in the parking lot, no one in the waiting room, and no patients in the office. I told him that he knew very well how important that appointment was to me because I scheduled it three weeks in advance, and on the phone I told him that I needed to tap into my dental insurance premium or it was going to expire at the end of December. He acknowledged. They silently canceled me anyway. He refused to see me, and said that I needed to get off his property or he would remove me physically, because I was a child who would not admit when I was wrong. Meanwhile I charitably said multiple times that maybe I misheard the appointment, but it would've been nice to get some kind of a text message which I would've recognized immediately as contradicting my calendar an alarm clock for that appointment. He was shaking and his face turned red and he started screaming at me, and I had to leave immediately or he would've got violent. As another red flag, he would not even accept dental records to be submitted from another office because he said that he doesn't trust what anyone else says, and he has to assess everything himself from scratch, even though I just had another comprehensive dental assessment a few months ago. This is not a stable person. Please take care before trusting him to have an invasive procedure where your personal health and well-being is at stake. Some people are so excessively narcissistic that it is dangerous for them to function in high stakes environment. This is one of those people.

I am writing this review to document a very troubling experience with Dr. Murray that I believe…read morereflects clear negligence. I saw Dr. Murray for a tooth extraction. Soon afterward, I developed severe pain in the adjacent tooth and noticeable gum swelling. I returned to the office and specifically requested an x-ray because I was concerned about infection. Despite this, Dr. Murray reassured me that everything was fine, that my mouth was healing normally, and that the adjacent tooth was merely "sprained" from the extraction. No further diagnostic steps were taken. Over the following week, my condition worsened significantly. I was unable to chew on one side, my gums remained swollen, and the tooth became loose. I contacted the office and explained that I likely had an infection and needed antibiotics immediately. The office refused to prescribe antibiotics without another appointment, and the earliest available time was the following day. At that visit, Dr. Murray finally ordered a 360° x-ray and informed me--without urgency or accountability--that I had a serious infection under the tooth that was actively destroying the bone. He stated that I would likely lose the tooth. This outcome could and should have been prevented had my initial concerns been properly addressed and diagnostic imaging been performed when I first requested it. Equally concerning, during my extraction, Dr. Murray appeared distracted, moving between multiple patients instead of giving my procedure his full attention. Afterward, when I emailed the office expressing my concerns and requesting a call, I received no response. When I followed up by phone, I was brushed off. Because my repeated concerns were dismissed, a preventable infection has now resulted in irreversible damage and the likely loss of another tooth. This constitutes a failure to provide an appropriate standard of care. I am actively considering legal action for negligence. At minimum, I believe this office should be held accountable and take immediate steps to ensure that no other patient experiences this kind of disregard.
