I would like to highly recommend Yuri Aminov PE, who is a Certified Residential RE Appraiser and Licensed Home Inspector, to conduct either an appraisal or a home inspection. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable (he is a Professional Engineer), but he is also personable and a good communicator, the earmarks of a highly trained professional. These traits are invaluable to anyone wishing to have a thorough high quality job. That is exactly what Mr. Aminov did for me when I recently hired him to do an appraisal of my house. I did not know Mr. Aminov before hiring him to do the job but he was highly recommended by a realtor with whom I worked. Altogether, he took about 1.5 hours to conduct the appraisal. He was extremely thorough, looking closely at all areas of the house, taking photos as necessary, and asking probing questions to inform his findings. When he was writing his report, he even called me several times to clarify any ambiguities so as ensure that he didn't miss anything important. When I got his appraisal a couple of days later, I was pleasantly surprised by the insightfulness of his findings (very detailed) and the comprehensiveness of his report. As a supervisory engineer myself, I am quite familiar with high quality work products. This appraisal certainly merits such a classification. Where do I begin? Yuri is beyond professional...he's phenomenal at his trade! His expertise saved me from buying a @ "beautiful" money pit. I saw what I thought was an amazing house...it was "newly renovated" and seemed to have everything that a homeowner could ever want. The listing agent tried to "encourage" save a few dollars and not bother with an inspection. (Boy, I am happy I went with my gut instead of his "suggestion".) I had the most wonderful experience when dealing with Yuri for my home inspection. He was punctual. very detail oriented and didn't miss a single corner of the house he was inspecting, even asking and removing all the covers and checking everything himself. Yuri was extremely thorough with my wife and I while conducting our home inspection. We called other home inspectors and were told that they will not discuss anything until after the inspection is done. That's not the case with Yuri. He encourages you to walk around with him and ask any questions as they might arise. He answered all our questions with such detail and even followed up with us the next day to see if we had anymore questions/concerns! My closing is done, and I came back to remove one star is because one very important part the inspector missed. The auto sprinkler system. And I've learnt from the original house owner that Yuri did the inspection for them too while they bought the same house 2 years ago, and the auto sprinkler system were never been checked (not even been noticed). This time for me too, there is no mention of the sprinkler system. But the agent and I found out the system all by ourselves during the final walk through... and it make a hassle during the closing. Also btw, the auto sprinkler system is broken a little, so we have to negotiate with the original house owner to fix it before hand the house to us. This should be inspected out during the inspection... not during the closing final walk, and if we did not notice, we will buy a house with a damaged sprinkler system read more

Like many other people, I found Yuri on Yelp and I have to say that the other reviews are spot on about him. While he lives in Queens, he was kind enough to make a trip to Westchester county for assessing a coop we were interested in. He was on time. Once inside the apartment he explained each and every step of the inspection. Extremely meticulous with every nook and cranny of the apartment: the paint, the walls, the wood work, the power outlets and so on. He is so meticulous that he even noticed condensation of water vapors one of the windows and recommended that it needed a refilling of inert gas and resealing. At the end of the process of inspection you get a detailed report within a day, accompanied by photographs that explains everything.
