In the home of some of the best barbecue in my eyes, True Texas is good and reliable. Which is a great testament to the workers because they're able to make sure that quality food is always coming out, and it's always dependable when you're looking for something tasty. I want to preface this by saying, I enjoyed my food as part of a Too Good To Go order and, everything was delicious and I also got a great variety of items. The restaurant is located on the far left side of the Mansfield HEB store and has a drive thru on the outside left side as well. In my bag this evening they provided me with, a baked potato, brisket, mac & cheese, and a creamed corn. The baked potato was great, and I really appreciate that it came with all the fixings, it was also salted on the outside and cleaned! The mac & cheese was creamy, smooth, and noodles cooked well. The star of the show for me was definitely the creamed corn, it had a hint of spice in it, and definitely was a sweet corn which I prefer. Lastly, the brisket, I don't typically like a sauce brisket however, in this case, it was a nice chunk with the well seasoned bark making it enjoyable. Despite the fact that they were 30 minutes to close, the restaurant still had people dining in, and a few others picking up like myself. We finally tried True Texas BBQ in HEB and it did not disappoint !! We ordered through the HEB app on a Friday night and by the time I arrived to the store (about 10 mins) the food was being walked out and delivered straight to my hands - perfect timing! We got the sliced brisket sandwich, chopped brisket sandwich and the loaded chili cheese Fritos and everything was delicious! The sandwiches could have had more bbq sauce on them for me, but the smoked flavor of the meat was very good. The loaded chips were a great cheat meal/snack and kid-approved. Although we didn't eat in the store, it was very clean and tidy. The guy who handed me my food was pleasant and it was seamless. We'll definitely be back to try more items in the menu! read more

I was craving something BBQ and didn't want to drive far. I remember HEB has a BBQ restaurant inside their grocery store with a drive thru. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews, but I wanted to try it myself. I got brisket nachos included queso blanco, sour cream on the side, jalapeños, and green onions. I threw a side of Mac and cheese in there to try. To my surprising it was actually good meal! Not the best BBQ in the world but it did its job. Nachos were very fulfilling and at first thought there wasn't enough cheese but the amount was perfect. Majority had sinked down in the bottom. I was here to check prices on the brisket and found out cooked brisket was on sale inside of "True Texas BBQ". The brisket is typical brisket that is served at restaurant quality that is seasoned just enough so you can sell it to a lot of people. The meat was good and well prepared. We ordered food for our family on a weeknight through the app ahead of time. We chose a time 2 hours ahead of when we wanted to come pick it up. Upon arrival, we still had to wait an additional 40 mins, they were out of half the things we ordered but were not given a heads up until arrival and it was just subpar bbq. First time trying this place and well, the bbq was pretty good. We got the pulled pork (my fave), sausage (which was also yummy), the brisket (so tender!), and the turkey (also, pretty yummy). The sauces were also delish and paired perfectly with the meat. We got the Mac and cheese as our side, which was ok, since the pasta was too soft for my liking, but the hit of the night was the banana pudding. Definitely one of the best I've ever had. The pudding was light and airy, wasn't too sweet, and the wafers were soft and the bananas completed it. Make sure you buy some and try it for yourself. First time here!! Inside H-E-B. I've been waiting to try this BBQ out. My mom and I met at HEB to buy groceries but we wanted to eat first. I got lean brisket and burnt ends with collard greens and brisket beans. I have to admit that the collard greens were the best I've ever had! I finished every single piece! Prices - They are not bad for the amount you get, but not sure if it's worth it taste/quality wise. Brisket - It's pretty salty & more greasy than it should be. Turkey - Dry, I know turkey can get dry but... yep. Generous portion size with this one. Sausage - This was the best out of our 3 meats, great taste. Potato salad - Good choice for our side, happy with it. Cornbread - It was so-so, this was also a generous portion. Not really wowed by it, it's nothing special but it didn't taste bad. I came through on a Tuesday to enjoy the all-day happy hour special on draft beers and grabbed a bite to eat. Upon entrance, a sign says no shopping carts allowed, so I'd highly advise you to eat before you shop or head through the drive-through window that is located outside. There is a kiosk available to make purchases in the front for quick service, which is for to go orders or dine in. The only exception is that no alcohol will be made available to purchase through the kiosk. Inside, they have a fountain drink area that serves soft drinks and a cold bar referridgerator bar that has lemonade, sweet tea, and a variety of bottled drink options. As for the draft beers they have on tap, all of them are TX beers and are priced differently. The draft selection is written on a colorful chalkboard and is labeled by the type of beer, a description, and the ABV% along with the price. I decided to get the brisket nachos along with 2 drafts to wash it all down. Inside the dining area, there are multiple tables and chairs along with stools to sit at to enjoy your food. There is also a flat-screen tv inside playing sports as well. Within minutes, my name was called, and my brisket nachos were ready for pickup. The nachos were looking elegant and classy, and all I wanted to do was dive in. The nachos were topped with chopped brisket, queso Blanco, and drizzled with sour cream. They were garnished with bright, vibrant, perfectly cut green onions and complemented with your choice of spicy or sweet BBQ sauce. The brisket was flavorful and smokey while the ice cold draft beers were clean and crisp. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience at True Texas BBQ, where the drinks and food definitely hit the spot. The customer service was as Texan as could be, while the food variety and choices were plentiful. The prices were average, and the Tuesday Happy Hour was as good as it gets! We chose to taste test the 2 meat plate with 2 sides. Sliced Brisket (lean) and Turkey. Sides we chose Mac-n-cheese and Serrano Cornbread. There were approx 8 people in the restraunt. I drove from Houston and couldn't wait to try some HEB BBQ. However, I was a bit disappointed in the brisket. I ordered lean brisket, but the meat was not tender at all. There was fat that had not rendered throughout the brisket, making it crunchy to chew. Perhaps it was taken out too early from the smoker. The potato salad and peach cobbler were tasty. The fountain drink countertop was surprisingly filthy and sticky. Very much unlike other HEB's I've been to. The service was just okay. The young server at the front walked me through the menu, but the way he spoke to me was very condescending. What can I say? If you like boring bbq, this is for you. The meat has no real flavor. It's just unseasoned meat. The sauce is the most ordinary sauce I have ever tasted. This is food that you eat when there is nothing else flavorful to eat which is the only reason I ate it today. All other quality bbq places were closed today. Great food. The sides are just as good as the mains. They are a bit slow, but at least you can shop in H-E-B while you wait.

Of course they just opened so the line was long; however, we received our food quickly after ordering. Very nice atmosphere and seating arrangements for all group sizes. The pulled pork potato was delicious. The beans were very favorable. The cornbread was on the dry side but it had a lot of flavor as well. The peach tea was our go to drink! This was my first time visiting True Texas BBQ (located at the new HEB). I ordered the two meat plate with lean brisket, potato salad, collard greens and banana pudding for desert. And I was VERY disappointed because the food was terrible! The brisket was overcooked, dry and just tasted awful. The ribs were hard and dry on the outside!!! And the meat inside had no taste and one of the ribs was nothing but fat. And the banana pudding simply tasted like an average Jello pudding with about four vanilla wafers on top/bottom. The collard greens and potato salad were average (potato salad tasted like typical grocery store deli salad) and the serving sizes were about 2-3 tablespoons.
