After 2 months of coughing and sneezing, lethargic behavior and not feeling well at all, swelling in the inside corner of his left eye, making it hard for him to close his eyes, 3 Vet visits to primary vet, and 3 rounds of antibiotics, X-rays, blood work, and exams, with nothing found regarding bacteria, growths, or viral, my 11 year old kitty Sunshine needed an Internist and CT Scan. My VMC Vet gave me a referral to True Care. Now, honestly, I had read reviews and was nervous and full of anxiety bringing my kitty to a vet during Covid-19, that I would never meet, and couldn't be there in the room with him while strangers poked and prodded him. I had reservations about ALL of this, but had no choice in the matter. My kitty had stopped eating because he no longer could smell, so I had to make decisions quickly. I called up and spoke with the very lovely Brandon, who gave me a monetary breakdown of ALL tests and exams fees. I didn't have the money, as I am on unemployment like the rest of the country and couldn't process spending between $2500-3500 on my kitty, when I am trying to pay rent and not get evicted right now. So, I created a Go Fund Me for Sunshine, knowing the range of the amount I was going to need. I made an appointment for him, which was 3 weeks out, so I knew I had the time to raise the money. I was also added to a "Wait-list" in case something opened up before that window. I knew if there was a mass or tumor found in the CT Scan, it would grow and get worse in that window, so I prayed for a cancellation. Our appointment was on Friday, August 8th. After raising the money and many prayer sessions with family and friends, the Universe answered my prayers with a VERY last minute cancellation on Wednesday August 5th. So, we ran over!!!!! I was nervous, sitting in my car, but Nitzia came with paper work, and was kind and lovely, as she brought Sunshine into the hospital. By then, Sunshine had very labored breathing and needed to be put on Oxygen and fluids. He needed Anesthesia, not sedation, for the CT Scan, because since he was breathing out of his mouth, sedation would have made him "too relaxed to remember to breath." Dr. Lottati explained ALL of this over the phone to me, ensuring me Sunshine was going to be OK, and they were going to take care of him. While under anesthesia, they did the CT Scan, 2 biopsies, and a saline sinus cavity flush. When they went to get the biopsy from his nose, he was full of mucus and snot. Hence, the sinus flush, which he needed badly. They sent me home at 330 before all of the testing, and told me he'd be ready for pick up by 700pm. There were numerous cal;ls back and forth, asking permissions for all the previously mentioned tests, they gave me a breakdown of all of the expenses with a monetary range, which I had been given 3 weeks before, so I knew what was coming. EVERYONE was kind, lovely, and peaceful, which made everything that was happening easier to process emotionally. There were 2 issues found: 1) Bilateral Chronic Rhinitis which was causing the stuffy, snotty, mucus in his sinus cavity. 2) A mass under/behind his left eye in the upper cheek. But it was solid, not soft tissue, so the biopsy wasn't big enough to send to radiology. Both issues are being treated with Prednisone, 1 pill 1 time a day, for 2 weeks. I am already starting to see improvement. The swelling in his eye has gone down a little, and he is eating again, and being not only socially, but super affectionate simply because he feels better and was treated with the UTMOST care at True Pets! We cannot say enough great things about the wonderful people at Animal Emergency Centre. We would give them 6 stars if we could! We adopted a puppy (Gwen) from Muttshack on a Saturday afternoon, at an adoption event at the Petco in Burbank. Less than a week later, we had a very sick puppy on our hands and a very disappointing experience with the vet recommended by the adoption agency (Dr. Khalek at Angelus Pet Hospital - think twice before you go there). Gwen had been experiencing vomiting and diarrhea, and Dr. Khalek sent us away on that Tuesday and Thursday, telling us that we were over-reacting. By Friday afternoon, Gwen was shaking and lethargic. We knew we needed a second opinion so we rushed to the Animal Emergency Centre as soon as they opened. She was quickly diagnosed with Parvo! The staff at Animal Emergency Centre immediately proceeded to save little Gwen's life!! Intake was handled quickly and with knowledge and compassion. Terri met us at the door, and Chris prepared all documentation and cost quotes for us with real kindness and understanding that we were a little shell-shocked. Sandy was amazing, so gentle with Gwen and sweet with us - she talked us through all the details and gave us hope that everything would be okay. Dr. Hocutt was also awesome, promising to do her very best and to keep us updated on Gwen's progress throughout the night. We left that Friday night very upset and worried, but knowing that we had left Gwen in good hands. Dr. Hocutt called us late Friday night and again on Saturday morning to give us updates on her condition. On Saturday morning, Dr. Cavanaugh took over Gwen's care for the weekend. Like the others, he was awesome - he checked in with us every 12 hours, and answered every one of our many questions with care and thoughtfulness. Happily, on Sunday evening Dr. Cavanaugh reported that our Gwen was eating solid food (starting with plain chicken that he fed her from his own lunch!!) and that she would be ready to go home with us on Monday! When I picked up Gwen on Monday morning, I was really touched by the reception I received. Gwen had won the hearts of everyone at the hospital over the weekend! I met two more amazing & awesome members of the team, Andrea and Sidney. They walked me through all the details of Gwen's condition and care, answered even more questions even though I had already asked a million, and Andrea gave us both a big hug on our way out the door. Dr. Cavanaugh even came out to say goodbye, and a couple days later Chris called to check in and make sure Gwen was doing well. It was so clear that all of these people had given love, energy and expertise to help little Gwen recover from a deadly virus. We were moved by the whole experience. True care for pets, Let's see if I can keep this nice. This pet hospital has got to be the worse excuse for a hospital of any sort. If you love your pet do yourself a favor and do not bring them here unless you want to see your pet Suffer If he is in pain these people care nothing about your pet all they care about is standing around walking back-and-forth to their hospital making themselves look busy washing the sidewalk down instead of worrying about the pets that are waiting in the sun And in pain. I brought my dog in at midnight last night (thank god they are open 24 hours) because she had been vomiting and had some other issues which I won't describe in detail for the faint of heart/stomach...let's just say all over tummy trouble. I called first, described what was going on and the person who answered the phone was very nice and helpful. She listened to what was going on, asked questions and helped me decide that yes, this was a worthy issue for an ER visit. She described where they were located, cross streets, etc. and she let me know that there wasn't much of a wait, so the doctor would be able to see us quickly. Once there I filled out paper work and we were put into a room quickly. The nurse/front desk person (Sidney or Terri) gave the initial exam and the doctor came in fairly quickly considering there were at least two other patients also there. Dr. Cavanaugh explained what could be wrong, explained multiple courses of treatment (ranging from extensive and expensive to a more wait and see/home care approach). I have to say, he spelled out my options in a way that really made me feel there was no judgement on whether I decided to spend the big bucks or go the cheap route. Fortunately I have Care Credit (PET OWNERS this is a MUST HAVE as it makes these hard financial decisions a lot easier) so I went with expensive/extensive. They took x-rays, did a fecal exam (I brought in a sample) and did blood tests. Everything looked okay--she either ate something bad or had a bacterial issue, so they hydrated her, gave her some medications and we were ready to head home. I was relieved that other much worse issues like pancreatitis, liver/kidney failure, and obstructed intestine/stomach were ruled out by the tests they ran. At the front desk Sidney and Terri gave me two days worth of "bland food", medicine (they explained very thoroughly how to dispense it which is great as it was 2:30 AM at that point and I was pretty punchy) and they also gave me written instructions. David came out from the back when my dog Peaches and I were getting ready to go and he was super friendly too! I have to say, for an emergency vet visit, this was a very good experience. I went in yesterday with my kitty, "Fuffi" due to some anemic issues. The checking in process was fairly simple, I had already filled out a form on my phone couple days prior. I was super early, so they had me take a seat and once it would be our turn we would be called. We got called in fairly quickly, I did inform them that he can be a little difficult when I am not around, and they just thanked me for letting them know. A little after, they did come and get me to help put a cone so he would not bite. I did read the discharge notes that he indeed bite the tech when they first took him out of his carrier, SORRY! Once I was able to calm him down, put the cone, I administered some calming stuff, if not he would have been too stressed for any services. They let me know if they needed me again, they would come get me and that I was able to wait outside and go grab some coffee or walk around. After we came up with a plan, a link was sent directly to me, I made a payment, such a hassle-free process. No having to sign credit card receipts, waiting in line. NOTHING. An ultra sound was performed, and although I did not receive the best of news on my fur baby boy, I honestly, would not have preferred anyone else tell me, besides Dr. Lottati. She was such a sweet person/Dr. to me from the beginning until end of our visit. She gave me so much information and offered any additional resources that she had in mind in order to help me make my options easier for me. She suggested every time Fuffi needed to come in to any vet visit, to administer the sedative that way he's not super stressed, and I totally agree. She personally emailed me, some hours later after I got home, just to offer anything I need from her, or updates, to feel free to reach out to her. Shortly after, the report, and ultrasound images were also sent to me that way I can show it to his primary care Dr. I feel bad for any bad reviews on here, since the care we received at this facility was nothing but amazing and informative. I hope none of my other fur babies need to come in , but if they do, I will gladly make an appointment and request to see Dr. Lottati again. Words can't express how Thankful and Grateful I am for Dr Soto, Chelsea, Alice, Alex and the rest of the amazing staff over at TRUECARE for pets. I was in a tough situation with my Spunky Dog Bruno, it was late in the night when his spleen ruptured. After calling and driving desperately to 5 different locations in hopes they would take in such an emergency TrueCare for pets was the only place to welcome us in with open arms. They immediately diagnosed him and started the treatment. Me unsure wether to proceed with the surgery due to my ignorance. I took him home. A few hours later things took a turn for the worst. I thought that was it and rushed back to the hospital. Upon arrival.. Dr Soto immediately mentioned the severity of the situation and how time was of the essence. He spoke to me very professionally but with so much Heart and Compassion I knew this was destiny. Him and his staff worked their magic and even did a little extra just to help my Boy BRÜNØ out. I Love You guys for going above and beyond, Thank you! In the days to follow are the most crucial, the road to recovery after such a major surgery can be a bit of a rollercoaster. I was kept well informed through out the day and night on the progress of BRÜNØ. If I didn't already think the staff was amazing, they amplified that feeling 10 fold when I had got in contact with Alice and Chelsea. BRÜNØ was depressed and wasn't eating or moving much, I asked Alice and Chelsea if they could play Bob Marleys three little birds for him. We have a special connection with that song. They said yes and also were lovely enough to film it and send it to me. They say a picture speaks a thousand words but the video they took says 100,000 beautiful words! You can see BRÜNØs face light up and acknowledge what he was hearing. I broke down in tears, it's the little things that mean so much especially during these hard times. On June 3rd my 8 year old Korean Jindo suddenly got very ill in the middle of the night. The "Emergency"clinic in Lancaster was closed. No Vet on duty. They referred me to"True Care for Pets" in Studio City 45 miles away. I called them let them know I was driving down. When I arrived about one AM they were waiting for us. They took Jindo right in. ( Due to Covid I was not allowed in the building.) .The Ultra Sound showed a piece of wire in his abdomen.There was a Surgeon on duty and they took him right to surgery for a perforated bowel. I was very impressed with the staff and their knowledge. They kept me updated with what was going on. Jindo went into shock upon arrival to the hospital. He was treated and then went to surgery where he went into shock again. Without the expertise of the staff (Dominique,Desiree and Dr Soto and the anesthetist and others on the team) my beloved dog would not have survived. He spent three days in "doggy ICU". The staff kept me informed about Jindos condition and were always willing to talk with me. I am a retired critical/ER nurse and was VERY comfortable at the care he was receiving. They answered my questions and if Dr Soto was available she always spoke with me. When Jindo got stronger I was allowed to see him. The staff would bring him outside with his IVs and NG tubes where I could spend time with him. I know that not all out comes are good but I feel that if Mr J had not survived I would feel confident that they did everything they could for him. Jindo is now back to his old self and running the hills with me. Thank you all at True Care for your expert experience and concern for my dog! Also thank you for the security that night that watched over me to make sure I was safe. They were awesome! I hope people are not swayed by the several negative reviews. God truly led me to this pet hospital. I almost lost my most beloved dog, Rusty. I had taken him to his regular vet for a simple anal abscess sac "surgery", but instead, he came out with 1/3 of his rectum missing! If it wasn't for the fast acting actions of every staff member there, from the first vet doctor who saw Rusty that night, to the Chief of Surgery, Dr. Natalia Soto, who although had a full schedule of surgeries the next day, she squeezed in my baby to save his life! She took no chances! His condition, by Dr. Soto's own words, was bad; she had never seen anything like it. The day of surgery, my prayer partners and I prayed that God would guide Dr. Soto's hands and He did! Praise God! Dr. Soto called me later that day to tell me that he did better than expected! That he looked really good despite how he came in. God blesses Dr. Soto in her work, because she is truly a caring doctor; her patients are NOT a dollar sign, they are real to her and all her staff. Oh my goodness, let me tell you about her staff! So, there is Ari, who is just so compassionate! She really makes you feel like you have nothing to worry about; that your baby is in the best hands, and he was! There was also Chris, who was very informative and just so caring in making sure I understood everything so that I could take good care of Rusty whenever he was to go home. And then there is the rest of the staff who worked tirelessly and patiently with my baby boy; thank you Mitchell and Avery for your hard work! I know many times people don't say thank you, but just know some of us do appreciate you guys so, so much! Also, let me not forget the other vet doctors there who would give me updates on Rusty; thank you Dr. Leonard and Dr. White, and all the other doctors who I may have missed, but are still appreciated! If I could give them no stars I would. If you're an emergency clinic and charge do much money for it, act like one, I've waited 70 minutes! I came with s fog that breath fast and I suspected poisoning. After 30 min I urged the receptionist to get her exams, and all , he said is "she looks stable" After 60 min I just left the place to another emergency hospital. I guess not all dogs created equal on their eyes. In response to your comment, when going to the other clinic I know that the medical records weren't taken right away, you waited at least 40 min before trying to obtain them. I didn't think lying would be part of your comment back, that take things to a new level. my dog s now fine after the treatment she got RIGHT AWAY in the other clinic. You never told me it would take a long time btw, otherwise I'd never stay, so that's s lie too. And yeah , you took a look at my dog and that's it, not sure how you call it "examined" It is super sad you felt the need to lie and make my response even worse, but you defending yourself with not saying the truth is bothering me a lot. Since you are not a plumber you are a medical facility. And you said I left without paying, you did not examined the dog, you didn't weigh her, take her temperature, NOTHING but looked at her, only after 40 min when I I dusted you took her in and I am pretty sure you did nothing. or anything but looked at it, so if you expected paying that makes you greedy as well. read more
