As a born n raised Wacoan, I find most local bars, save a few in downtown, to be unpleasant. This bar is excellent. They have a great mystery beer special, pool and karaoke/open mics of sorts, and a patio in the back which is the bomb. The only catch is you must pay homage to the troll of a bouncer who, whether or not you're in high heels, clumsy, or presumably, dressed in a costume that permanently holds your legs akimbo, will assume extreme intoxication to the point of 'warning the bartenders,' or inviting you to leave. Either way, despite the abrasive and cheeky bouncer, who is quite possibly incapable of adequately removing a rowdy customer without significant assistance, this place is a haven for those who would like a nice drink in a good environment with excellent company. But we can all assume the bar to be completely independent of these issues in the long term. :) read more

We love the bar, overall. Although, their karaoke system sucks. Their songs are incredibly outdated and they don't have a rotation system. If the same person signs up for five songs, they get to sing all of them in a row. If you don't sign up by 9:45pm, you're not going to get to sing by 2am. GET A NEW DJ. read more

Refreshing experiences if you are tired of the usual frat boy/cow-poke crowds. Loving, open minded, shameless people,with cool bands, dollar beer wednesdays, and a huge selection of craft brews, and about a dozen on tap! Truelove houses a lot of local acts and the crowd tends to be eclectic... almost the opposite of the "see-and-be-seen" vibe from places like Muddle. It definitely adds variety to the Waco bar scene. The place has a great drink variety and an insane variety of beers. There are vintage arcade games scattered throughout and a pool table or two. The main thing I dislike about this establishment is that it is L-O-U-D and draws bands that are L-O-U-D. That may very well be what keeps its clientele coming back, however. It's not for everyone, but you owe it to yourself to at least check it out occasionally. Bring a group. read more

The drinks were pretty tasty, especially the Dirty Shirley!! We were there on a Monday night and the bartender wasn't very friendly or loud. But, they do have karaoke a couple nights a week and have several pool tables. read more

You will either think its one of the best of worst bars in Waco. I go with one of the best. If you are wearing kaki shorts, pastel polo, and boat shoes you'll be slightly out of place. But because of that is it is one of the best places to go. Important note, the bathroom is bare bones, so if you got muddled guts, you're going to have a bad time. read more

This place is basically my second home lol. I come here mainly for Karaoke nights (Monday, Thursdays and Saturdays) but this is also just a great place to just chill with people. Everyone that I've interacted with that works here are really cool. One of them even told me that they had just regular sodas and that made me super happy being that I'm not a big drinker. FUN FACT: The owner of this place also owns Stone Hearth so be sure to check that place out (light your butt on fire with their spicyyyy food! Or not. They have mild food as well lol) There's a lot of parking on the side and if that's not enough, there's free parking nearby across the street :) There's a place out towards the back that people can go to smoke and talk stories with each other. They have outdoor heaters and with this winter weather upon us, it kinda helps (not a lot, but it'll at least keep you until you're done with your cigarette lol) In the very back they have an arcade game system as well as a pinball machine. I think that's pretty badass. It's quieter back there and I like to escape the intensity of the sounds for a bit that's going on out in the front. I love their bathrooms! They have the cutest art murals on their walls and people can write messages as well in the bathroom stall walls (not on the mural of course) It makes me smile every time I go in lol. Okay this place just keeps getting better and better! They recently started serving food and completely revamped their menu. I am literally writing this while I'm eating the spicy crawfish Mac and I can tell you this is the best Mac n cheese I've ever had! They're food is out of this world and their new menu has so much flavor! My favorite karaoke bar just became my favorite spot for grub!! read more

The Chicken Carbonara pizza is amazing. Everyone that works there is very polite and attentive.

Average bar -- i go here exclusively because they do trivia on thursdays. The beer selection is OK in the bottle, but not great on tap; they don't rotate taps very often. Not a very interesting/remarkable place, but OK prices, location, and atmosphere (dark). I think they have a galaga machine. read more

Myself and several other docs have started coming here for trivia on Thursdays. It was a cool place about a year ago when I first stopped in. And more recently they've clearly added to its charm. It is certainly an eclectic place and not something everyone will like, but I think it's worth a look for everyone, even if just once. The atmosphere is inviting. Trivia is engaging, and the crowd is a more mature mix of college kids and young professionals. read more

AWFUL EXPERIENCE! Came here with a gf (got in from the bouncer) but once stepped outside was harassed to see our IDs and was kicked out by the bartender, Justin for having a "Fake ID" meanwhile she had her passport to prove it was real!! We both had REAL IDs and are highly disappointed to be harassed and followed around screamed at and embarrassed for simply wanting to talk to the manager to prove her ID from another state was real. If you're not from TX don't come here their bartender will say your ID is fake. On top of it the manager did not apologize for what happened. The service is atrocious!! 1. Educate your employees and call the cops and manager over next time. 2. We are ALLOWED to speak with the manager so do not harass us and follow us screaming at us while trying to talk to them. 3. Hire employees who respect the customer, cause plot twist Justin it was a real ID. SO baffled by this experience. read more

We couldn't even get into the bar the bouncer who had a awful attitude told us it was 1 in 1 out because of covid..."okay we will wait" we said 15 min go by 10 people leave the bar keep in mind we only have a party of 3 and the bouncer left us outside while he went inside and sat on his phone Lololol then after another 10 min go by we walk in and ask "hey like 15 people have left is it cool if we come in" he straight faced said "nope" and closed the door also while we are out there a line has started to develop and everyone asked us how long we waited and we told them and they all left!!!!!! And said "20min to get into Trueloves what a joke" and walked off to another bar me and my party and everyone else was looking to spend a lot of money drinkin and enjoying our night and the bouncer who sucked stopped that from happening never going to this bar and if anyone ask us we are telling them this experience ever time sad.....also we looked up reviews and still came Lot of 5 star reviews and wish we could have seen inside but the bouncer is the reason we couldn't experience! There is another review that said the bouncer sucked and we laughed because we thought It wasn't true but low and behold it is get rid of bouncers and you'll make way more money as a bar Lololol never in my 25 year life have I waited in a 25 min line for a bar Lololol joke lol go somewhere else especially during covid more better places who accommodate the pandemic and care about customers willing to pay lots of money to drink lol read more

Not a good visit. Started with a doorman that didn't think he even needed to get off his rear end to check our id's, then he was rude and condescending. We are locals and wanted to check the place out. This was our first visit and it will be our last all because of the way we were treated at the door. read more

Great bar. Music selection playing was outstanding. First time in Waco I was like hey that's a god song. No country or 90 s rock. Good selaction of beers on tap that changes. And a enormous selection of cans and bottle. Full cocktail choices as well. Staff very friendly and on their game. If you aren't looking to impress those around you but can still hold a conversation with a stranger it's worth trying out. They have pretty good drink specials and the bartenders are generally friendly! They have a very strong hipster vibe but not too pretentious. Solid date night spot with arcades and pool table, and the back room is quiet enough to get away from the sometimes loud live music. They also have a cool little outdoor patio for smokers if that's your dig. read more

We came in toward the end of trivia and the questions were entertaining to hear. The karaoke was so fun to watch, I was glad so many people participated. The bartenders were quick and the drinks were good. But the owner really impressed me. He made sure people felt safe and comfortable. If he sees a situation that needs intervention he doesn't hesitate, and I truly appreciate that. I will definitely be returning. read more
