My daughter went here with her friends. I believe it was an adult night 18 and up. Here's a funny thing. My daughter is only 17. There's really no checking IDs here. All she did was say that she was 18. Yes her fault but also their fault for not checking. Another experience was when we were invited to a birthday party although the birthday party was great. We did expect a little bit more from the DJ to bring more fun. I guess things have changed drastically from when I went to skating rings when I was younger. read more

One of the only Skating rinks in Texas that works with not only Derby but also Roller Hockey. It's a big deal seeing as zero Rinks in San Antonio put in the effort that Gypsy does here. Most of the complaints I see on here are very petty. read more

This place nickels and dimes you for everything. My wife and I were charged $5.00 each just to stay here and watch our son. It's absolutely ridiculous. They don't offer fountain drinks, so you are charged per drink. I believe this place only stays open because this is Waco, and there is no competition. I wish I could post this on Yelp without leaving a star. I can't wait until my son grows up so I can stop coming here. read more

Be prepared to pay for every single thing you need at this venue. We are grandparents and we came to our granddaughters skating for her birthday. They made us pay $10 just to sit and watch our one year-old granddaughter. So the parents could help the other two kids (ages 3 & 6) skate. They make you pay for skates and for the little walker for the kids. Next, I went up to ask for a water for the one year old baby and they wouldn't even give me a little cup of water for free. They said they have a drinking fountain over by the pump machine. Well a one-year-old cannot drink out of a drinking fountain I need to just a little cup of water. This place just wants you to pay for everything. Unless you have a lot of money to burn I would not recommend coming here. If you have older kids and you drop them off to skate that's one thing. But it's really expensive to charge grandparents $10 to just babysit their grandchild that's just ridiculous. read more

I went last evening with a 9 and 3 year old. I had checked the calendar before we went and the only thing I saw was adult 90s night after 10:30. We Arrived a little before 8. I was worried there may be a few too many big kids but figured we could atleast skate an hour before they came out and there were plenty of what looked to be 5 year olds skating. I was very shocked when the music proceeded to get more and more vulgar as the night progressed. They turned the lights off and it was fun for a few minutes, at about 8:30. We left at 8:40 after I finally had enough of the innappropriate music which contained words like "p*ssy" "b**tch" "h*e" repeatedly and were completely inappropriate fof the ages that were there. They had been playing slightly innappropriate songs before that but completely stepped over the line after the lights went off. With multiple 5, 6, 7 year olds! It seemed the people running the place were also very young and allowed it. Adult night wasnt until 10:30 so that shouldnt have been playing! I look very young so it probably didn't stop the kids from acting "better" in front of me either. They were completely themselves. When skating around the rink there were kids at the back of building play fighting and screaming "suck my d*ck" and other obscenities with no adults present (aside from me) I had to grab my neice who was skating against the wall by them, so she didn't get caught up in that, she just turned 9. These boys were probably only 11 or 12! I used to skate there as a kid. My parents would drop us off as kids and it was nothing like it was last night. There were older adults supervising and we were not allowed to be in the back of the rink like they were unsupervised. There were also lanes in the rink that were marked with cones when we used to go so the older kids didn't run over the little ones or slower skaters. Those were missing. We almost got run over a few times by what I noticed later WAS AN EMPLOYEE. I'm disappointed in the state that this skate rink has lowered itself to. It used to be a decent place to go. read more

I went here the other night and had a lot of fun. I hadn't gone skating in a rink like this in a long time, nor had my date, so it was a great blast from the past and we both had a great time. The facility itself is a little run down, and not too many people where there (we were there for the Adult Retro Night), but they just don't bring in the money they used to I suppose. It's a shame that more people don't go skating anymore. read more

Nice place and great service. They hosted our party and did a wonderful job with handling our needs. My only complaint is with the gratuity system they've established - it's a bit vague and misleading. When we booked online, a mandatory gratuity was calculated into the balance due. However, when the cash-out bill arrived at the end of the event, the term "gratuity" was changed to "service fee" and it was accompanied by a table of "suggested" gratuities as an addition to the final bill. Therefore, someone would pay the mandatory "service fee" and could then mistakenly add the "suggested" gratuity - although they are the same thing. I doubt it's ill-intended, but someone could easily pay twice the tip without fully understanding how or why. read more

This is the worst skate park I have ever been to they charge you extra for just watching your kids which of course parents come with their small kids they charge you even if one kid doesn't want to skate and puts money in their games they still charge you they charge you extra for the kid holders while they scare the little trainers and they used to do it for two hours now it's down to hour My wife paid for a single water and wanted to refill and the lady told her to go to the sink in the bathroom to refill her water the lady that owns the place has the worst attitude when you're spending your money trying to let your kids have fun I will never come back to this place or spend my money with this lady again worst business I've ever seen I am from Houston we have plenty of skate parks skating rings things for kids and you never have to deal with such a rotten customer service or attitudes the skates smell like dead animals the bathroom stink and are disgusting read more

Outrageous. Its 10 dollars to skate on Saturdays, not just that but 3 dollars to watch your kids skate. What kind of bull is that. What if my kid gets hurt and I can't afford to pay. I was part of a large birthday party group that planned an event at the rink. After days of calling to make sure the location would be open and no answer or return calls, we decided to go anyway. There was no indication on their website that the location would be closed for Mother's Day, so imagine our surprise when we waited around for 45 minutes and no one showed up to open the place. Another of the group finally called the manager, who just apologized for the oversight in not posting and that was that. Really, a birthday party of 15+ being left outside your closed location for nearly an hour because you just didn't bother to post anything saying the location would be closed is just an oversight? Great place! I have been visiting Skate World nearly every week for several years now. Business seems to be picking up. The employees are kind and fun. I have watched them deal patiently with many obnoxious and very rude parents in the past. I am always impressed with their professionalism. The music is pretty good, and the DJs keep things fun with games for us skaters to take part in. Laser tag is a blast too, for those who aren't so fond of being on skates for long periods of time. Overall, Skate World is a great place to drop the kids off during the summer or to have some family bonding time. 5 outta 5 definitely! read more

First of all this was my very first visit and after standing in line to get tickets, no one ever told me where to go once inside so I stood in another line only to find out that's not the line for skates. My son and I got our skates, then I went to rent him a kiddie skate walker. There was a wait, so I put my name on the list. Right after I got back to the rink I was told on the speaker that our name was up... So I wobbled back to the front again to get the rental... Finally we were in business but it's definitely harder than it looks and harder than it was the last time I went skating some 15 odd years ago... Anyway the place is okay. Kind of a bad layout and pretty cramped with all the parties going on up front. My main upset though is that I wish instead of just stating the rules over and over on a microphone that they had workers skating that could assist. It was mine and my sons first time skating and I saw a little girl gripping the wall. I asked if she needed help and she said yes, so I gently tried to skate with her to the wall. Then over the speakers I hear them and telling us not to hold hands because if one falls we both will. I then fell and let go of the girls hand. Then she fell but was close enough to bounce up and get to the exit area. They told me I need to get up right away but I couldn't. I must've looked like a cockroach on its back. I tried to use the stopper to pop myself up but I'm older now and I over estimated my abilities. My leg felt cramped and my knees were bruised. All the while I hear them stating that people who don't get up are an obstacle to those still skating! I tried to crawl to the wall which I wasn't far from then my son who had also fallen was struggling and they just kept repeating not to leave your kid in the rink. Duh! I hurried and untied my skates as they repeated the rules on kids not being left and then ran in the rink with socks on to help him out. How about some help?! $18 and $3 for a skate walker down the drain for 10 minutes of humiliation. This was such a horrible experience that I actually left in tears. Part of the blame is my inability but the other part is the lack of assistance. read more
