This morning a TruGreen truck hit and dragged two large black bags filled with grass clippings from over two yards away. The driver stopped in front of our home, got out and walked around to see what he was dragging under his front wheel, walked past the bags and got back in the TruGreen truck backed up and drove away. How does TruGreen stay in business? I wish I had read all the comments on Yelp before signing up. I can relate to each one as my own experience. Not only were they reckless in applying the chemicals which burned my entire yard, their customer service was equally as bad. I asked to speak to a manager and the next thing I notice is their truck putting down more chemicals on non-existent grass. I had to chase the guy off my property and call the local TruGreen office to advise them any further access to my property would be considered trespassing. I used to have the best lawn in the neighborhood and thought I could trust TruGreen to maintain what I had already started. No ush luck -= buyer beware!!! I hope this input will help others stay away. Unfortunately, there are very few alternatives to TruGreen as they have bought out the competition in the area. read more

Our TruGreen specialist, Ken Miller, has done a fabulous job treating our lawn. When he started, the lawn looked like a farmyard. He has educated us and recommended a mowing and watering routine that works in harmony to choke out and kill the ugly quackgrass while the rest of the lawn flourishes. I paid $468.00 for lawn service, no one would ever show up, they said they came but never did. I eventually got $300 back, but I want a full refund. They still owe me $168.00, as you can see my yard is full of weeds, and is in horrible shape. TruGreen's reckless lawn treatment caused extensive damage to my property, costing nearly $4,000 to date with ongoing repairs needed. On 6-11-2024 their technician applied chemicals at four times the recommended concentration - this was conveyed to me directly by the technician who sprayed my lawn. He felt, as he explained it to me, that the concentration, in his opinion, wasn't high enough. Within 7-10 days, this excessive treatment killed most of my lawn leaving large bare areas. I have lived at my residence for over 4 years and never had any citations from the HOA who cited me shortly after the excessive treatment was applied and required sod installation to cover the large bare areas that were left as a result. When I reported the problem to TruGreen, they sent a technician to 'test and assess' the condition of my lawn (7-17-2024). I even called directly before the tech came out to ensure no further spraying would be done as I had just installed new sod and informed them of this. I was beyond shocked and horrified to learn the technician did spray my lawn, including my newly installed sod, which died a couple of days after! Despite the clear evidence of their mistakes, TruGreen has refused to accept any responsibility or offer meaningful compensation for the destruction they caused and even went so far as to say they played no part in the almost immediate decimation of my lawn and that it was me who single-handedly killed my own lawn within those 6-8 weeks. read more

I've already canceled my service three times and these guys still keep coming and charging me. The technician don't know what they are doing. They show up at a property and just start spraying chemicals they don't even know what they are. They don't sample the soil first to see what the yard needs. I had yellow patches in my yard they blamed it on poor watering of my yard, I called someone else turns out I had some sort of maggets eating my grass causing the grass to turn yellow, after many calls to true green they were never able to fix the issue. When you try and cancel the service, the representative make some sort of commission to save your service which is why they don't cancel the service and refuse to, they make you believe they have canceled it until they show up again. read more

There was no mention of a second service until I was charged the next day. I called customer service and they were no help. This is our second time to be a customer of TruGreen. Too many problems with TruGreen not honoring their vow to correct issues with service. Whenever I call to get a re-spray of the my lawn because I still have too many weeds, I'm told that they will respray the next time they are scheduled in my area for that service, which is every 4-weeks. We'll that's when they're supposed to service my yard next anyway, but what about the weeds that they were supposed to take care of last time?! This time it was a mosquito treatment. Yard was serviced on a Tuesday, overwhelmed by mosquitos on Wednesday, called for a re-spray on Thursday, it was scheduled for Monday (backyard party on Tuesday). No show on Monday!!!! Called to find out why: oh, we rescheduled you for Thursday, but never left of message and no record of call on my call logs. WTH?! May be dropping them after the re-spray, if they show up. If they don't show I'm dropping them and not paying for service that didn't work. They also claim that they can't treat "that kind of weed" for too many kinds of weeds in my yard so what do they actually do? read more

I'm very disappointed with this company because I was sitting on my deck in the backyard and I saw the technician get out of his truck and within a few minutes (not long enough to have fertilized my front yard). The technician never came into my backyard, he had the nerve to leave a receipt in my front door. I was paying online and I saw the payments come out of my bank account and yet TruGreen is charging me again saying that there was a computer problem and they didn't receive the payments. DO NOT EVEN TRY TO BECOME A NEW CUSTOMER or want to be home when they do the service! I wish I could leave a 0 star and I CAN'T believe that this company has a Better Business Bureau rating of A+! This has been the worst experience of any company just trying to schedule my initial services. I was a new customer and purchased 3 services (aeration- they said I needed but probably didn't, fertilization, and sulfur treatment). Being this was going to be my first time using them, I wanted to be home when they came. -I tried to schedule when I signed up but they could not because it was a new account. -A few days later I logged in to the web site and saw they had chosen dates that I specifically said didn't work for me. I called to reschedule - they didn't have anything in the next two weeks that would work for me (I was open except for 3 days in that period but they still couldn't find a time) and they could not schedule further out than that. - I called back a few days later so that their system would have opened up future dates. They scheduled a date that worked for me. - I logged back into the web site a few days later and noticed that the date had changed - it was not a range. I called to reset to a date that worked and they submitted a ticket to have it schedule on a specific date. They confirmed the date and said the branch would also confirm with me the following day. There was no call from the branch. - The day I was scheduled we were predicted for heavy rain so I called to reschedule. They gave me another date and time that worked. Again I logged in the next day and the dates had again changed from what they had given me. - I called again and was told the branch had called me to reschedule and had talked to my wife. 1) They didn't call my cell (the only number they have), 2) there is NO wife! The branch straight up lied. I asked to talk to the branch and the scheduler got permission to transfer me. The person at the branch that answered said they had no flexibility for the dates I needed (this started a month back so now I only had only a few days still open with my schedule - which was the ones scheduled already before the "talked to my "wife"). I asked for a branch supervisor and was told that he is usually out on sites but she would check - 5 minutes on hold and then they disconnected me. - I called the main number again and explained what had happened. They said the service had been scheduled on the date I needed AND gave me a confirmation number. I figured the branch must have taken care of it without me needing to speak to the manager. - After thinking about all the issues I had had, I called back and canceled one of the services (aeration) but kept the lawn treatment. I figured, with all the hassle so far, I would see how one went and then reschedule the other. AGAIN I got another confirmation number that the other service was still scheduled for the date and time I needed. - The next day I checked online, the date had now been changed AGAIN to a date that was not what was confirmed the day before (and had two confirmation numbers to support). The scheduling person put me on hold while contacting the branch to find out why it was changed. Another rep picked up after I was on hold and said they could not explain why the date was changed but she could send a message to the branch manager "requesting" the date I had confirmed just the date before. At this point; after being lied to by the branch, having the branch change already confirmed dates for no reason, and all the hassle of scheduling; I no longer trust these people to show up even if they promised me another date. Also, I would not trust them to actually do any treatment if I allowed them to go when I wasn't at home for future treatments - they could just charge me but never do the application or not what was paid for. - I feel these issues were systemic to the company and their scheduling process but severely exacerbated by this branch based on the helpfulness of the main office but the lies and continual date changes made by the branch. read more

After over ten years of this company the last year has been a nightmare!!!! They consistently say we lock our gate not true we don't have one a lock! Our technician is HORRIBLE --my grass is horrible found out from my neighbor we had sod moths and ate it also grub worms which hatched into these horrid beetles. Do not use if you value your lawn! My lawn was in reasonable condition in 2017 and I was finally in a position of being able to afford having someone look after it rather than do it myself. After looking online I suddenly received a phone call for a very enthusiastic salesman for Trugreen so I though why not, they seem to have the credentials. February 2017 after one chemical treatment they turned up with a beast of a machine to aerate my very modest lawn. This machine would have been more at home clearing mines on the Eastern Front. It absolutely pulverized my lawn front and rear, and left mud pellets all over the place, clogging up my lawn but I though "I'll persevere because they obviously know what they are doing. (My lawns have never recovered from the two times I was foolish enough to allow this to happen, if I had 40 acres or a golf course then maybe but not a small garden) By the end of 2017 my lawn looked no different that when I was spending maybe $80 a year on Scotts fertilizer. In 2018 same again, my lawn looked worse again, but again I was assured that "It takes time to build it up" and foolishly I bought this line as well. December 2018 After the final application of chemicals I had two patches of grass die off right at the front of the house if full view. It was clear that too much has been applied and possibly a spill had taken place. I complained to the Cypress Trugreen office and the supervisor inspected my lawn and agreed it was "probably" a spill. Please see the pictures below, these were taken in April 5 months after the spill and two months after I complained. The supervisor agreed to have the grass sections damaged replaced. This never happened. I complained again in July and the supervisory said he thought it had been fixed and said he would get right on it. It is now September and the grass still has neither been replaced not will the supervisor answer his phone. Life is busy and we get pulled from pillar to post, I should have ruthlessly followed up on these con artists, but I did not because I was working overseas so my bad. I employed a unprofessionally run branch of a national company who doesn't care about their end product to look after my lawn and I have paid the price. Please do not be foolish like I was and think that things will get better because they wont. Employ someone who takes pride in their work and cares about what the end product looks like. read more

Save yourself the wasted expense and frustration. Once they have you in their clutches and your credit card on file, it is near impossible to get them to stop charging your card. The yard is in no better shape than when they started, and in fact, in some areas is worse. We have repeatedly asked for them to stop service and send a manager out to show them how underperforming their services have been and they do absolutely nothing but continue to charge us. With "service" like this, I don't know how they have such a big name in the industry. I am a very unhappy customer and would be all to happy if they would just stop charging my card and go away. It's gone from a little brown to very brown and when I called to get someone out here to look at the lawn and talk to me about it and what we could do to make it better their answer was they would come out and fertilize again (they were just here a couple of weeks ago and over fertilization can make a lawn worse) and were only willing to leave a card telling me they were here! Not true not green I hired true green to improve my lawn but ever since they started service my grass is actually worse. They said my lawn needed aeration which I hired them to do but even that they did it so badly, they missed several areas I had to call them to comeback again to do the areas they missed. But that didn't improve the situation at all. My grass is looking worse. It seems they introduced more weeds and another type of grass and there are areas where the grass started dying. I have requested for someone to come and assessed the situation but instead they had a young person called me and request for photos which I provided. Then I never heard from them again. read more

Starts out with my neighbor getting my tree and shrub service instead of my trees and shrubs. They rescheduled another tech to come out and if I would not have called, I wouldn't find out he was not coming. The technician calls me after I put in a request for him to call only to tell me that his truck with the equipment was towed the day before. He offered to come out in another truck that had the equipment but it broke down 39-40 minutes before my appointment. I knew he was full of lies then. I have an organic yard and gardens of vegetables, herbs, fruit trees & flowers in The Woodlands, TX. I am not their customer but I came home to find written details of the spraying they did on my property with toxic chemicals. All the details were there. They gave me the service that my next door neighbor has hired them to do. Our house is marked on the house itself and with numbers at the entrance to every driveway (a standard thing in our development). The technician clearly is incompetent. When I phoned the local office number on the paperwork (Spring TX 281-443-7939) all I could reach during business hours was a general answering service. The company is not calling back to discuss the illegal trespassing and to answer my questions about chemical use safety for consumption. I also have two children with chemical sensitivities and had let my cat outdoors before I knew of this, and the chemical states online that it can cause pet poisoning. They also did not use the required by law chemical flags to show the boundary line of the spraying which are to remain in place for 48 hours. I am irate to say the least. read more

TruGreen does it AGAIN...a few weeks ago TruGreen came to our home and sprayed despite us not being customers. After multiple attempts to contact TruGreen to try and get resolution to this, we still have yet to receive a response. Yet today, TruGreen showed up again unannounced and trespassed spraying unknown chemicals on our lawn. We have no way of contacting the local office to stop this from happening. If I could give zero stars I would. I am not a TruGreen customer, but TruGreen came to my home and proceeded to spray unknown chemicals around my property while my dog was in the back yard. When the technician realized he was at the wrong home, he thought it would be best to get back in his truck and leave. No attempt to contact us to explain the mishap or notify us what chemicals were sprayed on our lawn. On July 11th, 2018 I returned home from being out of town and noticed my fence, side walk, driveway, car, and house had yellow spray marks/spots/splotches all over. Mind you this is a new house with a new fence and new pavement so it was very noticeable. On this same day, TruGreen sprayed had sprayed my lawn but apparently the lawn wasn't all the tech was aiming for. I took pictures and video of the damage and contacted my sales rep. I was then contacted by a customer care rep asking for me to email the pictures in; which I did on 7/18. After at least a week of not hearing from anyone after sending the pictures, I followed up with an inquiry of...what's next? Finally I get a call from the Supervisor of the Houston area asking if he could come by and look at the damage. He comes out and offers free service. Well, what about the damage? I let him know that I wanted to discuss this with my husband and that I would get back to him. So, I did and told him that I felt it right for him to not only provide free service, but to pay for the damage to be repaired. He agreed and asked that I get an estimate to do so. I sent the estimate on 9/4 via email to Tom Werner, the supervisor. On 9/11, 9/13, and 9/19, i sent follow up emails, voicemails, and texts as I hadn't heard back from anyone. I also had a charge on the account that wasn't supposed to be there. On 9/21 I still hadn't heard from anyone so I again followed the same, email, text, and voicemails. One of the customer service reps by the name of Anton went ahead and credited my account. I called corporate and spoke to Melissa and she passed the message on to the Spring office. Finally I get a text from Tom stating he is having a meeting with his General Manager William Nance to have the estimate approved and will get back to me with next steps. Today is 10/2 and I've still haven't heard from anyone. read more

We have been a customer with TruGreen for several years and I have at this point canceled service with them. My wife and I had used them to treat our yard for several years, but the manner in which they currently operate has convinced me that they do not have customer service in mind. They recently came to our house in an unmarked truck and were poking around the house without permission. This caused my teenage daughter to become concerned, because a strange man in an unmarked truck was wandering around the house. Later that evening we found out it was TruGreen when they called and tried to sell us additional services. A week later, they decided to show up at the house before 7am to perform the services we normally receive. A professional company would have personnel in marked vehicles and knock on the door to announce themselves if they want to sell services and would not show up before 7 am without notifying the homeowner of such an early arrival time. read more
