Dealing with the "sales people" is worse than dealing with a car salesman. I left them several years ago after being a customer for more than thirty years. The last year I was with them their service was terrible which is why I left them. During the years I took care of the feeding, fertilizing, etc. I received numerous mailings asking me to come back. This year I responded to one of their mailings and three different gentlemen contacted me and all they wanted me to do was agree to prepay for the season. I wanted my yard aerated last October and was told it was too late in the season. I was talked into the yard treatment and aeration for the following year. I prepaid for this service. The yard treatments occurred but no aeration. I did not notice any difference in my yard with the treatments. When I called I was told I did not order that and again it was too late in the year. We subscribe to all their lawn services possible (weed control, pests, seeding, aeration etc) I have asked for assistance regarding the never -ending weeds and crabgrass. They sent someone out yesterday. I spoke with him and asked for resolution to the horribly visible and expanding crabgrass and weeds. I decided to go with Trugreen this year, after KEVIN promised me how amazing my yard would look. He said my yard would be so green and healthy that I wouldn't even need to aerate my lawn this year! Every single thing he promised didn't happen! I couldn't even get a copy of the contract for weeks, after he said, I would have it within 24 hours. He wouldn't take my calls or return my messages, after he sold me their program, but before I said yes, he called me multiple times every single day! My yard has never looked worse! I had more weeds than I've ever had and brown patches all over my yard. Then someone came out and told me that the last 3-4 weed treatments had not been working, because it rained and washed off each treatment!! lol. He said he would send somebody out right away to have them re-spray it and nobody ever showed up. He never took my calls again either and didn't even have voicemail set up to leave a message. The manager of the lawn care division came out multiple times to look at my yard. He agreed it looked awful. He tried a few times to make things right, but there was no follow-through. Extremely disappointing!! My yard looked better before I started their treatments!! Even the neighbors, who don't fertilize their lawns, looked better than mine! I was so embarrassed how my yard looked the entire season! It looked like I didn't take care of my yard at all, and it was a complete eye sore. This pretty much sums up my experience. I have several patches of lawn that are going brown and have consistently been untreated and not remedied. To add insult to injury the guy just left the sign poking out of one or them. The whole lackadaisical, inconsistent, and generally shoddy job of aeration and overseeing that was done was all plain as day on my security cameras. The worst part of my lawn has been dying for so long that it now has a pile of moss growing in the death. There was not a single plug or grass seed on this part. The back yard was merely brushed over with the seeder. Generally garbage. I saw the video and cancelled my service. Not only is my yard looking worse than before starting, they barrels seem to have even tried on that last run. So after seeing the video I called and cancelled. However when I saw that the charge for 225 ok my credit card, I called them and asked them to come and do it again. I was told that I would be contacted by a manager to schedule. That never happened. We live in Naperville, IL and hired TruGreen back in May expressly to resolve a stubborn weed problem in our back yard ("Creeping Charlie"). After four months, and repeated efforts to make contact with local supervision, the weed problem in our yard is WORSE than it has been in the 25 years we have lived here! You can never make contact with the same customer service rep twice (call centers are all over the US and in foreign countries) and even the lawn tech is different each time an application is made. I have been present when the lawn tech was treating our lawn and pointed to problem areas, only to watch him treat PART of the area, then depart! Once..the tech informed me he didn't have enough chemical with him and would return...he didn't. After four months I am done..and will resume treating the lawn myself while I seek another PROFESSIONAL lawn treatment service. See photos I took this morning. I recently moved into a new home. Used TruGreen at my previous residence. Prepaid for the year. Service was ok at best. Elected not to renew, as we were moving. They notified me after they performed a service, then tried billing me. After a number of calls, I was able to get it resolved. Fast forward to my new home. Did an online quote, and I found the price to be extremely high. Elected not to go any further. Received 9 calls over a 2 hour period, despite informing them I did not wish to purchase their service and I did not want to be contacted. Calls continued. When I answered in an annoyed tone, they hung up on me. Finally stated that the calls were borderline harassment and they seem to have stopped. If you enjoy receiving harassing phone calls, put in an online quote. If not, use another service for your lawn care. read more

what happened Had this service since 2019 this year it did a 180 from good to terrible. Second application caused the lawn to have burn marks this followed the wheel track of spreader. I called complained no response. Called again told will have the area manager call me back she left message to call her back this same number I was calling. Left message again three days no call back. Today call local number staff would only send message to Annette to call back she is area manager. Staff said she has no call back number, no area Trugreen office number, no website for customers to call. I Googled Trugreen and yep there's a number but when I called it was same person I just spoke to. I purchased my house in May & hired GreenT to treat my lawn. I just wanted 1 treatment to take care of the existing weeds. The man explained that "doing 1 treatment won't really have any effect - it has to be treated throughout the season in order to fix the problem", referring to the weeds. I paid $185 for 6 treatments & was told they'd be spaced approximately monthly until the end of Oct. GreenT came out the following week (end of May) & the weeds began to die within days. I got a letter at the end of June explaining that GreenT had partnered with TruGreen, but that nothing would change with my service. I had only received 1 treatment at this point. In mid-July, I contacted TruGreen because I had still not gotten my 2nd treatment & the weeds had come back. I was told that someone was scheduled to come out the following week, so she wouldn't send someone out earlier. This surprised me since I was assured when I originally hired GreenT that if I wasn't happy AT ANY POINT, I could call & they'd send someone out right away. She also stated that, according to her system, I had canceled my June treatment. Why would I have cancelled a treatment that I had already paid for? She changed the subject when I said that. Nobody ever came to treat my lawn. The last week of July, I called again. By this time, I had not received a treatment in 2 months and my lawn looked terrible. I explained the situation & asked for a full refund. While I did receive 1 treatment, I had been told that "1 treatment won't really have any effect", so that treatment was rendered useless when they didn't show up for 2 months. The woman told me that she could only request a refund for the treatments I hadn't gotten. I asked to speak with a supervisor & was told that she doesn't have the capability to transfer me to anyone. Instead, she had to put in a ticket to have someone call me back. I got a call back the following day & spoke with a woman who listened to my concerns & seemed to make a effort to address the issue. Before she could approve my refund, she asked me to give them 1 more chance. She said that she would have someone come to treat my lawn within the next 3 days (by August 3) & assured me that they would still complete all of my treatments by the end of Oct. Regrettably, I fell for her words & agreed to let them try again. Someone came to my house during that time, however this treatment had no visible effects whatsoever. I only know they were there because they left a receipt. I received a 3rd treatment at the end of Sept. There was no apparent differences after this treatment either. I received 1 more treatment in Oct. I called TruGreen towards the end of the month. This time, when I asked for a supervisor, I was transferred to someone working in the Plainfield office. I explained the situation & asked for a full refund because: 1. May's treatment was useless because they didn't treat again for over 2 months 2. There was no effect from the treatment in early Aug. 3. They waited nearly 2 months between my 2nd & 3rd treatments 4. There was no effect from my 3rd treatment in Sept. 5. Within days after the Oct. treatment, I started noticing random brown patches in my lawn The woman I spoke with told me that she could only refund me for the 2 treatments that I hadn't received because "TruGreen does not have a money back guarantee", only a service guarantee. I argued that I couldn't possibly utilize the service guarantee since I didn't even receive the services as paid for! After much debate, she offered to give me 2 free treatments next season. I turned this down - Why would I hire this company for next season? At this point, the woman became extremely rude & tried to blame ME for the lawn looking terrible in June & July (the months that nobody came). She said that I must not have watered enough & that it had nothing to do with their lapse in service. She repeated that all she could do was submit a claim for a refund for the 2 treatments I never got. I asked her how much I would be receiving & when, but she couldn't tell me. She confirmed that I would be getting a call before the end of that week with the amount & date the check would be sent. I did not receive a call, but I did receive a check for $37 in the mail nearly two weeks later. When I do the math, $185 (what I paid) divided by 6 treatments is about $30 per treatment. I had been using another lawn service and was not happy with the results, so against better judgement I decided to try TruGreen. Even though they are significantly more expensive on treatments then the competition, I was hoping the chemicals they used justified the expense. My biggest tip is to tune out the sales rep, they are nothing more than poor used car salesmen, willing to say anything to get you to commit. What I did like about the company is the online account management system that notifies you of upcoming treatment and the communication. Their system worked very well for the first two treatments. Now it is broken and useless, even their customer service has admitted to such. The system problems have been going on for months. TruGreen has missed it's treatment schedule often and I have to call to complain at them to get someone to do their service. They claim excellent customer service and support. When I had a lot of weeds pop up I wanted someone to come out and take care of it. They find any way not to come out until the next treatment. At least my old provider did much better customer service. Their local sales offices are another issue, they will constantly call you to see if you want their mosquito treatment and other services. Then when they ask how your service is working out, they feign interest when you discuss your issues. They provide fake dates of when people will come out to correct, then nothing happens. Case in point, It has been over two months since they have come out, I get a call from the local office (Plainfield) asking about my service, he acknowledges my issues, even points out that a lot of people are having the same issues. Promises that someone will be out the 19th (yesterday). When that does not happen I call customer service, wait on hold for 15 minutes, only to be told that there are no notes and no service appointment has been scheduled. I held off cutting my lawn so they could clearly see the all the weeds on my lawn. Needless to say, I am looking for a professional company that can do the job, but apparently not easy. TruGreen does not care about it's customers or fixing their system issues to properly support lawncare, at least based on my experience UPDATE: I watched their lawn care application on my Nest Doorbell, the person doing the service, skipped application over 50% of my lawn, I have this on video. The technician came to do the aeration which was supposed to be the front lawn and back yard. Technician did the front and said he would have to come back to do the back yard. He never came back, but marked the job as completed. I asked for a refund for half the aeration services. I was told they would not be able to because half the service was done. I just came off using a local guy last year who took my money and left me with a weed-infested lawn....and said my expectations were way off. All the do is try to sell you more services when the have not fixed the original problem. Weeds still present worse after 3 applications. I was a loyal customer with TruGreen for many years. Over the past couple of years, I noticed the service really starting to suffer. However, I always gave them another chance and prepaid for the season. Sadly, I have to cut my service because of what happened last fall. In October 2018, TruGreen sent a technician to do my fall aeration right in the middle of a torrential rain storm. Not just a mist or drizzle, it was literally coming down in buckets. I asked the guy if he could do the aeration in these conditions. He assured me it wouldn't be a problem. As I was watching this man, I could literally see chunks of my lawn being torn up. I knew this was going to be bad, especially when I heard the man starting to swear like crazy when the aerator was getting jammed and dying out. I contacted TruGreen and sent them pictures. They did apologize and told me they would send someone out to seed my lawn. No offer of any kind of discount on an upcoming aeration or future service. They even raised my yearly prepay price by almost $50! After once again looking at the damage my lawn received, I decided not to let TruGreen touch my lawn again. I am clearly no expert as this is why I hired someone BUT they "service" our lawn in 4-6 min each visit. I kept the receipts to prove this and this includes the time the guy spends in his truck. I used Scotts for years and they were ok, but last year they were bought out by TruGreen and we had nothing but problems. I had so many issues I can not even think where to start. Guys that came out seemed incompetent. When I would ask something like "can you spray the crabgrass" I would get told that he did not bring any of that with him. These guys were poorly trained and did not seem to know what they were doing. Also they would often come early and leave a note saying it was too early to knock. Sometimes I could see no evidence of anything having been done. No granular stuff anywhere. No sign in the lawn, no tracks where they had walked to put stuff down...nothing. I wonder if they were even here. Based on the weeds I had that supports my theory. When I had seen them during the day they would leave a note on my door saying sorry they knocked but I was not home....HELLO, I was looking at you through the window! They were supposed to sweep or blow the excess stuff off the sidewalks and driveway but that never happened. Often they either left no lawn stakes to say they had put stuff down. My front lawn had a lot of weeds and especially crabgrass which they never seemed to have the right thing on their truck to take care of. I felt like I had to babysit them, and still they could not get it right. They would offer to come back and I would have to call several times to get that to happen, and then they still did not have the right stuff on their truck. As the summer went on they seemed to switch to always using a spray rather than granular. The guy told me it also included insect control which I had told them I did not want. He said that they only had this and it was all mixed together.....One guy said they ran out of granular so I guess you get what you get regardless of what you agreed to. Also they tried to sell me other services even when I told them I did not want anything else. I had some guy walking around ripping leaves off my bushes and leaving notes with the bags of leaves about what I needed them to do. There was nothing wrong with my bushes and I never authorized them to do that anyway. Besides that, they could not even get the job I was paying them to do right, so why would I hire them for other jobs. This year they tried to get my business back after I fired them, but I just do not trust them enough to give them another try, even if they charged me a really low rate. The customer service is extremely unsatisfactory, promises made but not kept. I have tried to speak with a supervisor for 5 consecutive days regarding the declining condition of my lawn. Each time I call, I am told by the rep that she has put in a request for a manager to call me. I was called once, but was unable to get to the phone. I called back on the number provided in the message, and the number put me into a queue to speak to another rep. The wait time is between 30-40 minutes with each call. Reps are unwilling/unable to give out a manager's name and number. I am still waiting for a manager to call me but I have very little faith that this will happen. read more

I live in Plainfield, had True green and multiple times I filled out their survey on how their visit went and nothing was ever done or was I contacted as to what the resolution was. I would have the technician come out and only treat the center of my back yard and not treat the whole thing. There was an instance where they only did the front yard and are still charging me the full amount for the treatment. Tried several times to contact someone that would take care of it and let them know that I wasn't ok with paying full price for a partial service. It is obvious that all they care about is getting paid not that you are satisfied with their service. Would highly not recommend to go with the Plainfield True green. read more

I recently decided to use Trugreen Irrigation Service for my Sprinkler system maintenance. I'm very disappointed with my overall experience. I don't like to give reviews without substantiating the rating with documentation and facts. Here's my experience.....I received my first service on April 26, 2018 which was the service to "Open the Sprinklers" (Work Order 3321022118). During that service the Technician said that everything looked good, and wrote the following comment on the Work Order....."Today, I inspected your sprinkler system and completed your quarterly maintenance service. Please continue to water in accordance with your lawn specialists recommendations. Thank you!" A few days later, I noticed a "build - up" of water near one of the Sprinkler Heads and called in for a service request. The Technician came out on May 9th and informed me that I needed a new Sprinkler Head, but didn't have one on his truck (Work Order 3431734875). On May 15th the Technician returned and replaced the Sprinkler Head (Work Order 3321154102). Today, July 10th, I had my quarterly Sprinkler Maintenance (Work Order 3321154107) and was informed by the Technician that 16 of my Sprinkler Heads needed to be replaced (including the one that was replaced on May 15th). I'm livid that this was not identified when the system was turned on or during the other service calls. The fact that one of the Sprinkler Heads the Technician identified today was actually one that was replaced on May 15th is "somewhat suspect". I've reached out the the Plainfield office to inform them of my disappointment and am waiting for a response. Hopefully, I will get some answers. read more

This is our second year using TruGreen and we are so happy! The results are exactly as expected. It truly does pay to spray. There is a noticeable difference between our lawn and our neighbor's lawn. We will definitely renew every year! read more
