We had Green T and unwillingly/unknowingly were switched to this wonderful company. My grass preciously was green and full. Even with heat and lack of rain previous years didnt leave my lawn in it's current state. Contacted them, which is no longer a local person, and they sent out someone for an assessment. They said I need water. Yeah, too bad the rest of the neighborhood doesn't look as terrible as mine. I will not be renewing nor recommending to anyone. Terrible and brutal. Oh yeah, I call shenanigans on them actually being trustworthy. 2 of the 3 treatments show the exact same amount of spray/material used. Highly unlikely. read more

Switched to Trugreen this year. Explained to them up front that the reason I was changing companies was weeds. The prior company did a poor job. Well, Trugreen is at least as poor. Twice this year I've had to call them back, and both time they did nothing but promise to treat better during their next visit. And this never happened. They have yet to do a good job on any treatment. Trugreen has turned out to be a waste of money. I continue to treat the weeds myself, and pay them to apparently merely make excuses. Today, for example, I just treated a whopping 83 healthy dandilions growning in my yard (yes, I counted them as I spot treated), and this is after Trugreen had visited twice in the past 3 weeks. Maybe Trugreen refers to weeds. The weeds are truly green. Do not use Trugreen! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This is the most unethical and unprofessional company we've ever worked with. We told them that we did not want the Trucomplete aeration and overseeding yet they showed up at our house anyway. I watched as they aerated the front lawn and then left without ever going into the backyard. Now they are charging us for a full Trucomplete service. Obviously we are disappointed since we didn't want the service in the first place but even more so because they didn't even complete our entire lawn. They now call us relentlessly for payment and are threatening to send us to collections for not paying for a service we didn't order. They should be ashamed. read more

SAVE YOURSELF - Wish soooo bad that I would have read the reviews before getting involved with these frauds... Not sure if this is the location that provided my services (or lack thereof), but I live in Plainfield, IL. I have a very small front and back yard that consistently experiences patchy grass and weeds, with pretty poor soil quality. I contacted Scotts lawn service this Spring (which is now TruGreen), and they were eager to help me achieve the best grass ever. Of course, that never happened. **Issue #1 - No communication allowed between the customer service department and the contractors that actually do the work.** On 3 occasions I called customer service to verify that the landscapers were coming to my house, because I wanted to leave to go run errands or let my dogs out in the back yard. "Of course they are, there is no chance they are not coming, they will absolutely be there...I think!"- was the gist. Other times, before I got the automated message that said they would come the next day, customer service couldn't even tell me what day they might arrive. It's seems they have zero communication with the actual contractors, and no phone number to contact them with, so it's all a surprise. **Issue #2 - As you can guess, they NEVER show up.** The first associate (when he finally did show up), was super helpful. He left a detailed review about my lawn and I was optimistic about future services despite the first no-call-no-show. It went downhill from there... I supposedly had several spray services to treat weeds/grubs that occurred at various times, which I can't really verify, except to say that they left a note saying they were there. Despite me scheduling my lawn seeding & aeration (the whole point of the lawn package), they kept showing up to spray instead. Why are they spraying dirt and dead grass??- who knows! Finally in late August, after talking to customer service several times, they decided to show up to do the service. However, they only aerated/seeded the front yard, and skipped the backyard completely! They were supposed to come back to complete the service (complimentary of course), and ended up with 3 no-call-no-shows for that. They treated me like a second-class citizen, not worth the effort to show up. I even had 2 or 3 reassurances from customer service that they would put notes in the system and the landscaper will "absolutely" contact me. Nope. Never happened, not even once after about a dozen cancellations in general (only 2 of which were weather-related). **Issue #3 - The treatments, grass seeds, etc. don't show ANY positive results.** As I mentioned, I couldn't verify where they were spraying (if they were spraying at all) since I was never home on the days they actually decided to show up. It is now Fall, so there is no chance that I can start growing a lush lawn this year. At this point, my lawn is almost non-existent. There are huge weeds in my backyard instead of grass, and this has all been a waste of time and money. Save yourself the trauma, DON'T BOTHER TRYING THEM AT ALL! read more

I have had to chase and chase to get my services done! Whatever location serves my area needs a new manager, a new scheduling dept, a new district manager. The product works but it doesn't matter how awesome the product is if your people suck. When they finally get here, they don't do the service properly unless I'm babysitting them. On 8.25 I called Cust service (AGAIN!) who put my service after the 8.29.21 one on 9.30.21. I told her it was IMPERRATIVE they come on 9.30.21 because my son and his fianc'e are coming from California on 10.1.21 and they are going to camp out in our backyard due to COVID. My youngest cannot be vaccinated so we will have ALL outdoor time. We started getting bit last week so I double checked to make sure it was scheduled and it said 9.30.21. Now today 9.29.21, it says "Not scheduled at this time". This has been a CONSTANT problem. At one point, THEY cancelled and told cust service I had which was a lie. Another time, they didn't spray my backyard bc my "gate was broken"- I have THREE to get back there...oh but they still charged me full price for that service! read more

Signed up for True green in August of this year. They presented themselves as professionals with great customer service I have yet to see it. Shortly (3 wks) after I received 1st treatment I needed to call them to return because I still had weeds. I then received 17 texts messages over a week stating they were on their way. So I'm not REALLY sure how many times they treated my lawn in that week. I then noticed my grass dying and burning out. These guys killed my emerging grass! I used them last year and didn't renew the contract for 2013. TruGreen didn't contact me in any form this Spring, neither by phone nor mail, yet some guy shows up at my house and puts pre-emergent weed killer all over my lawn, which i just spent the weekend power raking and putting down grass seed. It is readily apparent that grass seed is all over the lawn, yet he still put down their chemicals to kill my grass seed! IDIOTS. read more

Make sure you watch them do the work. They came to aerate my lawn. They were here for approx 10 minutes (for about 5000 sg feet). Could not find any plugs or aeration holes. they billed me for it. will NEVER do business with them again. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would!!! All together we paid for FOUR services from Tru Green equaling out to $200+ per month.. After they have been coming all summer, we still have weeds and problems with bug in the yard, you know, the things we are paying Tru Green to fix. Finally, I had enough of our lawn looking like garbage so I made my husband call and tell them we needed a FREE application. When my husband called, they tried giving him 20% off which was not acceptable for all the ones we have paid thus far, the least they could do is one free application. Tru Green agreed to do an application for free and scheduled it, great, but that free application was cancelled. Many of our appointments for lawn application have been cancelled since we hired Tru Green so no shocker there, just more time deal with the customer service people. Second time the free application was scheduled would have been great if the kid that showed up to our house did a damn thing!! I have live camera footage of him walking up to my house, knocking on the door, walking back to his truck and then going up and putting the receipt on my door. He was at our house for a total of 6-8 minutes and did absolutely NOTHING!!! I guess that's what you get when you get a "free" application from Tru Green, nothing at all! We called and complained that the kid did nothing and they sent the same person to our house with a timeframe of 12-5pm and at 4pm, my husband got the notification that our application had been cancelled!!! Why would you send the same person who did NOTHING the last time? Why is he even still employed? When I called to cancel my services, the woman on the phone was shocked! She didn't even have anything to say because she couldn't even believe it herself. The best part is I got a notification of the manager, I'm assuming, ringing my doorbell at 12pm on a Friday. Yep, we both work a 9-5 job so feels as if he did that purposely so 1. We would see him there and 2. So he didn't have to actually speak to us and fix the problem. I have now warned all my neighbors about this and I will now be spending my free time going back to watch all camera footage from every time Tru Green "applied" anything to my lawn because now I am in fear that I have wasted at least $600, if not more. Find someone else for your lawn care, anyone has to be better than this!!! read more

We had a contract with Tru Green last year and were very disappointed with the results. Our lawn is 50% dead. But even worse is the harassing sales tactics they use to keep the account going again this year. We cancelled our contract at the end of last year. In writing and by phone. Several times over. I wasted much time speaking with their "manager" about why we were cancelling. I let their expert come to view the lawn and give me their "expert" opinion, which is that they did a great job and I must have done something to kill the grass. But, regardless of the cancellation of my contract last fall, this spring they have called over and over and over and over to say "we need to set up our schedule to come to your house". When I explain every single time that we cancelled our contract last year they act shocked and want to hear why. I fell for this a few times and explained it all over again (including reminding them that I had cancelled my contract last fall). But all my explanation does is get them to start arguing with me about how they did a great job and everything that went wrong is all my fault. These calls come on my home phone, my cell phone over and over and over and over and over. I have repeatedly asked to be put on their Do Not Call list and they assure me it is the first time I have asked this and they will make sure it happens. But sure enough, within a week they are calling me again. It is supposedly always a new person who "never heard this before and will make sure they take care of it". They just called again for - and I am not exaggerating - the 20th time in the last 3 months to "set up our schedule to come to your house" and I am completely out of patience. I told them I have no choice but to start writing bad reviews about their over-the-top pushy sales practices and will most likely file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. If you want to pay a lot of money to have your grass killed and be harassed with ridiculously pushy sales tactics then I recommend Tru Green. Otherwise RUN the other way! read more

This review is for Greg Thomas who is one of the service managers at this location. He is very responsive and really wants to make sure you are satisfied with your service! My parents also have Greg as their Service Manager and have said the same positive things about him. When I've called the location directly to service questions the staff have always been extremely pleasant. It's true that not every representative the company as a whole has is great, but no company has. The important thing is they do want to help you if you approach it right. read more

Terrible service. We called to get service for dandelions and weed control in early April. On the first visit, the representative was at our house for 3 total minutes. When we called as it looked like nothing was done- he came out for a free service. He admitted that he didn't have any of the weed control spray in his truck so he didn't do it on the first visit as he marked down on the sheet left at our door. For our second scheduled visit, the guy never showed up. Our lawn looks worse than it did when we started. The dandelions are everywhere. Called for a refund as I prepaid the full amount. Ladies were rude and just kept to sell me on more stuff. Still waiting on refund.... read more

Today, is my 4th phone call to them with my problems. Been using them for over 10 years, lawn and tree's/shrubs. 10 years!! First, tell them we want notice prior to spraying the yard with new puppy, then agree and take all information. TWO DAYs later, they come and spray with no notice. Call the Plainfield office again, and again they take the info. While on the phone tell them the yard looks terrible compared to lawns on my left and right, they say we will have someone come look. 2 weeks go by, I call again. "we don't have anything on that, but we will send someone by". Now, guy shows up again and spreads fertilizer, NO CALL AHEAD AGAIN. I call again, 3 rd time. Told a manager will be out in 72 hours, Monday. Its Tuesday now, no show, so I call. Now the 4th time, customer services tells me, "they don't see all this in my profile (the other 2 said they did). I just canceled by service with them on my 2 acres of land. Realize we are one small spoke in their wheel of life, but this is no way to treat a customer of 10 years. read more

Buyer Beware. I am a new customer as of this month. I have already been charged incorrectly, given incorrect information about the program as they were supposed to treat my lawn for weeds (fall treatment), come back later to aerate and seed, and this followed up by winterization. They aerated and seeded today and will be here on Monday to treat for weeds. Did I just waste my money on new seed??? I was cautions entering into this agreement and so far I am not happy with my REP. Horatio and the service so far. The gentleman that does our lawn is very friendly and always takes to time answer any questions I may have. I have a dog and 2 grandchildren that play in my yard and he explained all the safety issue I had and also gave me some great suggestion. My yard looks great. My neighbors on both side have dandelions but my yard not one. I have also had to reschedule services and your service center is always helpful. read more

I've used TruGreen for two years now and my lawn has never looked so bad. In the past I have used a different service to keep my lawn weed free and never had any issues with weeds. Then I decided to save some money do it myself, with the same weed-free result. After a few years I got lazy and decided to signup with TruGreen (thinking all services had the same quality) and now I know, they are not! My husband told me this year would be different and the lawn would look better with TruGreen, but it looks the same (our lawn full of weeds). Our lawn actually looks worse than our neighbors who don't use a service at all! We'll be reviewing what works best for us in the past, in both lawn appearance and budget. read more

There billing was continually incorrect and when I repeatedly called to correct this it never was corrected. Their staff was unfamiliar with the treatments I was supposed to get and unable to answer questions or help me fix the issue. The local office supervisor was seeming to blame me and hung up on me when I called to simply pay the incorrect bill just so I could cancel the service. I was solicited by a sales man who can to my door and gave me his entire sales pitch and sold me on the idea that TruGreen would "Make my lawn entirely weed free and be thick and beautiful". They sent out their team on two occasions and rather than seeing a reduction in weeds as promised there were in fact more weeds than there were before. I called to cancel my service and I was pressured to keep the service by them offering to send out another team to re-do the previous service for free and the next two would be half price. After the 3rd service there was still no change in the number of weeds we had in our lawn. So, I canceled the service. Over the following week I was bombarded with sales calls from people asking why I stopped service and if there was anything they could do to retain my business. And finally, I received a call from the billing department stating that I owed an outstanding balance of $112! I explained to them that under no circumstances was I going to pay for a service that did not do what I was promised it would do! I also explained to them that the only evidence that they had ever even been there was the sign they posted in my lawn! After fighting with 2 different customer service representatives and requesting multiple times to speak with a manger I was told there was nothing they could do as they don't offer a money back guarantee! All in all, my experience with TruGreen was one of pushy salesmen and terrible customer service from a team of individuals who do not care that their service did not work as promised. My only recourse now apparently is to wait until they report it to the credit agency and dispute it with them which I wholeheartedly intend to do! If you deal with these people I hope their service works on your lawn because if it doesn't you are likely not to gain any recourse for their terrible work and will likely spend a lot of time on the phone fighting with uncaring, rude and pushy customer service! read more

Last Fall, I came home from a trip and found my entire lawn, front, sides, and backyard lawn all chopped up and a bunch of clumps of dirt and grass all over my sidewalk and on the sides of my driveway! I realized someone had aireated my lawn. 3 weeks later, I received a bill in the mail for $168 for Aireating and seeding my yard from Planfield, IL TruGreen! WELL FOLKS, I NEVER HIRED PLAINFIELD TRUGREEN OR SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH PLAINFIELD TRUGREEN OR ANY TRUGREEN ESTABLISHMENT TO AIREATE AND SEED MY LAWN!!! THEY HAD THE WRONG ADDRESS!!! The address was mine but not the name. I spoke to Plainfeild's TruGreen Management early this Spring and ask them to do one thing which was finish the seeding job by applying starting fertilizer to the seeding that they started. MANAGEMENT TOLD ME TO WAIT A FEW WEEKS AND THE SEEDS WOULD GERMINATE BY THEMSELVES! LOL. This is Plainfield TruGreen, so if you decide to hire this company, hire them at your own risk and if you happen to find your lawn worked on or damaged and a mess left by someone that you did not hire and did not have a contract with, just watch your mail for you may get bill from TruGreen because they have proven that they have absolutely no system of quality control because they left a mess on the sidewalks and driveway and HAD THE WRONG ADDRESS TO BEGIN WITH! read more

I've had TruGreen for a few years now. There are so many weeds in my lawn that in some areas the grass is gone and it is all weeds. They spend 5 minutes spraying fertilizer and that's it. Do not spend money with this company. read more

A few days after they sprayed, weeds took over my lawn. We tried to get them back out and they didn't show up for the appointment we scheduled a week earlier. No attempt by them to try to reschedule and when we called they were too busy to give us a date they might come out. A guarantee is worthless if they won't honor it. read more

My husband hired TruGreen this year to improve our lawn. I really don't see a difference, but that's not my issue. My issue is, whatever chemicals they use, are strong enough to kill our flower bed and nearly destroy our garden. I am not sure if whatever they spray becomes airborne and 'lands' on our garden, but when we called to bring up the issue, they basically said 'you can't prove it'. Our garden is my husband's pride and joy. Every year we have had an amazing garden. This year, after hiring TruGreen, our garden is barely limping along. We barely have anything left alive. And the flower bed is just about dead. I am not home when they come, so I can't see what they actually do. Have any of you had trouble with your garden after hiring TruGreen? read more

I have been using TruGreen for the 3 years. I have several brown spots , insects, crabgrass and other issues. My yard is in worst shape than before I started using TruGreen. My expectation for the tech when they come out to apply the product is to inspect to see if I had any issues that needed to be addressed and address them, this did not occur. When I inquired about the brown spots , the tech asked me what spots as if he did not see them and could not explain what they were. He mentioned maybe I did not water enough. I have a sprinkler system and I water about 3 times a week. I would not recommend TruGreen to anyone. I requested a refund or a partial refund and they have refused . read more

I am shocked but truly convinced that TruGreen intentionally misrepresents their services. I have been trying for about 5 weeks to get 2 broken sprinkler heads fixed. The people on the phone are generally helpful and promise the moon. Just don't expect them to deliver. I was told on multiple occasions that they could be out within a few days but in truth their ability to schedule is non-existent. On the day I did finally get someone here I was assured that it was for the repair. Wrong! I was charged the service fee for him to agree that the heads were broken and needed to be fixed. We would then need to schedule another date (with accompanying service fee) to do the work. Guess what. They couldn't actually figure out how to schedule that either. The bright spot is that they are extremely efficient at billing. And fortunately while customer service can't schedule they have been trained to defend why they need to make multiple $89 trips to do a $30 repair. This is not a local problem, it seems to be the corporate model. Could NEVER recommend doing business here. read more

I wish I could leave negative stars. Terrible experience. Grossly unprofessional company. We had a simple question about a comment their "technician" wrote on a slip of paper. I called on July 2. No return call, despite their assurance he would get back to me by July 5 at the latest (due to the July 4 holiday). I call again on July 10. He finally calls on July 11 and leaves a message saying he'll try again the next day at around the same time. I'm still waiting for his call back, despite multiple calls to their customer service department and their claim that this matter is being "escalated" (again, this is to answer what I believe is a simple question about THEIR comment). Finally, this technician had also promised my wife that they would apply something stronger to our lawn to get rid of the crab grass on July 30 at the latest. Yup, still nothing. They purchased my previous local service mid season last year. and now I have been on customer service for 25 minutes waiting for an associate to handle my call. I imagine the call load for showing up without confirming an appointment would take up a lot of customer service time. read more

I am very irritated, I cancelled my service. I went with the promotion for $29 and they told me that after that they would come out every for to six weeks. After the first app. for $29, they came back less then a week later and did something and charged me $47.95. This was far from 4 to six weeks apart like they said. They did refund that charge. They came back 6/22 and did two apps of the something and charged me $95.90. When I questioned them they told me, oh that was for two different things, I told them that is not how you told me this works when I signed up. In a month and a half they have charged me almost $180.00, I'm not rich and that is not what I signed up for, so I'm done. read more

This is not a lawn service that I will be using next year. Completely awful. I signed up for the service in early May and I have yet to have anyone come out to service my sprinkler system. I have called their customer service multiple times to get it set up and I am always told "someone will call by Tuesday". In addition, they apparently cannot just set up a time and schedule to come out either. They call the night before. Like most people, I don't have the luxury of being home all day every day. I need to schedule ahead of time with my work to be home that day. It's absolutely ridiculous. I finally had a day scheduled 2 MONTHS after paying for the service and the guy never showed. I called Tru Green at 5pm that day and they assured me he was still coming and left a message for him to call me. He never called and never showed. So here I am calling Tru Green to demand my money back. I also had a scheduled service for lawn treatment where the specialist claimed to have stopped by and even knock on the door. I was working from home all day and I never saw him anywhere on my lawn and I certainly did not hear him knocking on my door. I would advise all to take your business somewhere else. read more
