This is a strange review to write. I haven't been a customer for ten years, but I put on my rately-worn, decade-old Trumaker shirt today and was taken back to how much I hate the shirt and how terrible my experience was. Ten year later and I'm still pissed. The short: despite being made to measure, it fits TERRIBLY. Worse than nearly everything I have off the rack and far worse than my other tailored shirts. It's just bad. The experience: So many complaints about it. First they could have cared less when I complained about how badly fit the shirt was. Their attitude was: meh, you are stuck with it. Second, the buying experience was so painful. They tried so desperately hard to upsell me to ten shorts right off the bat. Thank his I said no. I wanted to try one before ten, isn't that reasonable. This place has gone into the toilet. While I was previously a satisfied customer of Trumaker--having ordered several custom shirts, blazers, and a suit--I will not order from them again and I advise you to stay away as well. After five months of dealing with them, I still do not have a satisfactory shirt nor a refund. They were not responsive when the order was active and even less so now that I have cancelled it. It was not always like this. I loved the first incarnation of Trumaker. A beautiful space in Union Square, helpful and responsive staff, and some great fitting shirts. After about a year off from buying, it was time for some new shirts. So I approached Trumaker again, only to find that everything about it has changed since the company was sold during my time away from it. It started with my attempt to place new order. I knew my former outfitter was now gone from the company, so I emailed to find out who I should work with. No response for 12 days. Then a VP emails me to tell me that my new outfitter will contact me soon. Three more days before I hear from her to set up a fitting. Most companies jump on a sales lead, especially from proven customers, but Trumaker took 12 days to acknowledge me and over two weeks to try to set up an appointment. I should have seen this as a sign that the staff is stretched way too thin. I went to my fitting appointment and discovered that the Union Square showroom is gone and the company now operates out of a cramped and dingy space on Kearny street. But if I got a good shirt out of it (as I had done before), I would persevere. I was remeasured for my updated fit and selected fabric for four shirts. I was told Trumaker has changed its factory from China to Mexico, etc., which was presented as advantage to me (They now owned it? Didn't outsource? Was never clear), but in future appointments this same advantage was blamed for all the problems with my shirts (it's a new factory, we're working out the kinks, etc.). Over the next several months, I went to Trumaker three times to try on remakes of a shirt they tried to make to my measurements. None were ever right. The outfitter acknowledged the problems, changed her measurements, took pictures for the factory so the next one would be right--but it never was. After the third failed order (with a fit worse than the previous two) I wanted to put both of us out of our misery. I said I was cancelling the order. They had tried, but their new system of measuring and communications and production clearly could not produce shirts up to their previous standard. I asked when I would see the refund posted to my card. My outfitter said she would report the issue that day and it should be settled within two weeks. After two weeks I'd heard nothing and asked for an update. I was told that she emailed the head of accounting "yesterday," since the SVP she had emailed was on vacation and probably hadn't seen the cancellation. At the three-week mark I still had no refund and no update, so I emailed to say that I wanted the refund confirmed and posted within three days or I would have to conclude they were not handling it and I would dispute the charge with my credit card company. This was met with silence, so five days later I disputed the charge. Very disappointing from start to end. I first lost confidence in Trumaker's ability to produce custom shirts. It didn't take much longer to lose confidence in its ability to communicate with customers and handle administrative tasks. I'm not a difficult customer. Last month I went to another provider of custom shirts (Tailor's Keep). Super tight and helpful communication on scheduling, order status, and the financials. Within three weeks I had three perfectly fitting and beautifully constructed shirts. One month for total satisfaction there versus five months of frustration at Trumaker leading to no product, no refund, and no communication. Trumaker, you are dead to me. read more

However when you are about to marry the woman of your dreams, stop what you're doing and make an appointment to get fitted for a suit that will make your wedding complete (as well as make your soon to be wifey nearly fall down when she sees you for her first time!) Next, do yourself a favor and ask for Sari to be your outfitter. Best thing about Trumaker is they have a crew of really friendly, attentive, professional outfitters - aka men's clothing scientists that REALLY know their shit! Color schemes, patterns, fabrics.. guys, you get to build your own fit from the ground up. It's fitted perfectly, it feels good, it looks good - in return YOU feel not only good, but amazing! Every one of the outfitters are legit, however I may be a bit biased with my girl Sari because she knocked this one out of the park. A slight alteration after the suit was constructed (free of charge at the resident Tailor) in return, delivered a suit that I not only wore on the best day of my life, but a suit I can confidently say that i will wear for the rest of my life. I will start with the positives: They have a wide variety of fabrics and styles. There are some really great patterns as well as the classics that everyone should have in their closet. The convenience of having someone come to your home or office to measure you is really nice. The people that work there are willing to do whatever it takes to make you happy. The negatives: My first order took a pretty long time to get right, but they did whatever it took to get the shirts right so that I was happy. Now going forward every shirt I order will be perfect. My first recommendation is do not order more than one shirt on your first order. Even though they said they would make one shirt, check to make sure it fits, and then proceed with making the remaining shirts, they did not follow this procedure and it was quite a hassle to get all four shirts in my initial order to fit right. Order one shirt, make sure you are happy with it and then order as many as you'd like. Secondly, they have a "watch option" for whatever side you wear your watch on. The amount of room they add to the wrist is not enough to fit my watch, which is a normal size men's watch. They are going to fix it so that the shirt fits around my watch, but my recommendation would be to just have the tailor measure your wrist while wearing a watch. Lastly, when you get your shirts, immediately wash and dry them. The shirts shrink quite a bit and Trumaker builds them to account for this. So when you get your shirt for the first time and try it on, it will seem quite big. But once you wash and dry it, it should fit perfectly. read more

Been a customer for numerous years and had many orders from shirts, pants and blazers. Now when I have had an issue with a single order, their customer support is unavailable. I have sent many emails and tried to call the phone number on their site. This number is out of order (sketchy they've not updated this). I've even called a former employee on what to do and who to contact. Then I was able to get the SF office phone number. No one picked up and I left a voicemail too outlining my issue. Ignored again. This is some of the worse customer service I've had. Seriously this is how you treat customers who spend $1k+ on your products? I'm not filing a dispute with my bank to get a full refund. I didn't want to have to leave this review. I've shopped and ordered from Trumaker for a few years and felt satisfied. This past year has been a drastic shift. I've contacted Trumaker several times about the same order and It's been over one year now, I still have not received the pants I ordered. I also ordered two shirts because the buttons were too small for the shirt I bought as the shirt kept opening throughout the day. I was told they were working on the shirts and that they had shipped it to the wrong address. When I contacted Trumaker, it would take weeks to receive a response and I still have no idea what is going on with the shirts. This place used to be high quality, but unfortunately they were acquired by another brand and the place seems to have imploded in short order. Customer service went from stellar to completely unresponsive. The quality, style, and fit have also gone way down. They switched factories as part of the acquisition so the shirts are now made in Mexico and it really shows. My last order consisted of 6 shirts, 5 of which came from the old factory and were still of good quality. The last came from Mexico and despite multiple attempts they can't even manage to send me the style I ordered. I have 3 shirts from them now that don't fit right, have button collars when I ordered buttonless, and one wasn't even the right color! I used to recommend this place to friends but can no longer do that. So sad to see a once great company go downhill so fast. read more

My experience started in January and it went okay. I left a message, they called back and I set an appointment. It was a new space and looked the part. Changing room was the bathroom and there were no hooks (I am not fancy as a contractor). Sari was great to work with and helped me pick what ended up looking great (other than the missing shirt so my collar looks like I should be in Saturday night fever). They did not have a vest I liked and they found a way to make one for the cost quoted. My wedding a few weeks away in March and I reached out when I heard nothing and well she checked on it and it was coming. We set an appointment and it was not it so rescheduled to a few days later. "the shirt is still in production" was what I was told and then after two fittings with the pants, they sent me to a tailor and we mostly got them fixed (the pockets pucker which sucks on something I spent $800+ on) but I looked good and the vest looked great. Sari and I met the Saturday before my wedding and it was only then I was told was not only not there but still not made or shipped from Mexico. No problem, they would order a new one from LA. Keep in mind, I never got a receipt for anything. No email confirmation. No measurements. No way to reorder anything. All communication was via text which I don't like or use personally. I am getting married Thursday, Wednesday rolls around and there is no email, text or confirmation of a shirt or shipping. Turns out Sari forgot to put the order in and was tramping around Scotland. After several frantic text and emails all I got from her, was sorry, I goofed, have a great wedding which i was totally underwhelmed by. So I am getting married the next day, no shirt, no contact person. I called EVERY trumaker office begging someone to call me back (not a one answered and the 800 number is defunct). Finally I called the people in LA who made the vest who confirmed my fears that the shirt was not only not shipping but not in production. He puts me in contact with the owner in NYC. The owner called my and did his best and they did ship me a shirt which they moved heaven and earth for but it did not fit right and had a monogram for BFD (not my initials). I did appreciate the effort but it really did not need to be this dramatic. So on style and quality (other than the puckering pockets), it was great but man the changing room is disgusting (uncleaned bathroom), the paper trail is non existent and customer service was underwhelming until it was an emergency then they had a fire drill to get me a shirt that didn't fit with someone else's initials. First off, I'm disgusted that I must leave a negative review for this company. I've bitten my tongue as long as I can and I'm afraid my patience is depleted. My best friend chose this boutique outfitter for his wedding, and, after receiving the suit & shirt, I can't say I blame him. The quality is stellar. What isn't stellar is the following: 1) We went to get "fitted" for our clothes in August. The representative who helped, Maggie, seemed more interested in her new apartment than actually fitting us for our clothes. Not to worry, however, this is just a representative showing their personality. Right? Maybe not. 2) At least three of the four of us who received our wedding attire had to contact the company again for corrections seeing as how nothing fit (literally, the shirt, slacks, and jacket didn't fit). 3) No worries, though, Trumaker promised (via Maggie) to make it right. I was told to simply "go get your jacket and pants altered locally and we will reimburse you. Additionally, we'll send a new, correctly fitted shirt. " Ok great. Sounds reasonable enough and I did exactly that. 4) My shirt didn't arrive in time for shipment to my house. So, I had to have it delivered to a local friend via next-day air. It arrived the day of the wedding. Interesting, but again, benefit of the doubt always. 5) Well, now, I'm still awaiting reimbursement for my alterations (as promised) and the representative I'm dealing with now, Paige, says her "CFO" has to get involved / approve the reimbursement. Interesting that a CFO is weighing in on an approximately $60 reimbursement. Paige indicated that since they are a "small company" the CFO must get involved with any money "leaving the company." Let me be perfectly clear here: we are talking about $60. An amount I wouldn't be concerned about unless it was promised to be reimbursed, which it was. So, it's more about an empty-promise than a monetary value. Furthermore, I have to imagine the "CFO" has bigger issues to deal with than a minor reimbursement. Bottom line: You have to annoy these folks to get anything done. You have to follow-up endlessly to even attempt to get anything corrected. Any timeline they promise you is nothing more than an attempt to buy more time. Absolutely incredible that this company still exists. Good luck, Tr Update: upon posting this review I was contacted by the co-founder Michael Zhang via phone, and email. Michael apologized and provided a sincere explanation for this experience. He then went on to offer reimbursement for my alterations as well as two complimentary shirts. Well, no surprise, it's been over a month and he hasn't made good on his promises (I've received neither my complimentary shirts nor my reimbursement for the articles clothing they "custom designed. This company is a joke. Pass on anything and everything from them. I'll be submitting a BBB review as well due to their horrific customer service. What a joke and waste of time. Update 2: Mr. Zhang has now reached out via email and has processed my reimbursement and placed an order for the two shirts he offered. Fair to say this process wasn't seamless and definitely stressful for the groom and groomsmen. However, the positive side is the groom received some complimentary clothes (at least a suit, I believe) for the inconvenience and the promises Mr. Zhang made to me were met. If you're willing to deal with some of the companies "growing pains" the clothes are definitely good quality, so that's a plus as well. read more

Dedicated ladies who are dedicated to making men look good (the way they should always look) is shown through their hard work. I have shopped there for 3 shirts and they came out all too well. Low cost for custom and personalized tailored shirts, suits, jeans, pants, etc you name it, they've got it! I would recommend you going to them if you need help with your wardrobe. I got a form letter asking me to write a review, so here it is. Hopefully this feedback helps them and their customers. For reference, I'm a professional clothing designer. First, the salesperson was 5 stars. She was cool and informed, but clearly had to work within the framework of the company. 1. Timing. I signed up for a stylist last November. I finally got an email response in the summer (at which point I'd written them off and thought they weren't interested in me as a customer). 2. Fabric. I'm happy with the fabric I chose. It's a cotton linen blend with an indigo plaid. BUT... 3. Washing. Be warned that you are told NEVER to machine dry your shirts. The fabric I bought actually would get softer and more luxe with home laundry. The style is traditional workwear and I shouldn't have to treat it like my silk or wool shirting. Home sewers pre-wash their fabric. I asked them to do that and they said they can't. When I accidentally dry it, it will torque and not longer fit and go to Goodwill. Even Hanes figured out pre-shrunk fabric in the 80's. 4. Fit. The fit is great. The proportions are really good after the second fit. It won't fit after a normal home laundering, though, because of the washing outlined above. 5. Price. $220 seems like a reasonable price for a shirt you'd wear for a long time. I'm not sure I'll be able to wear it after washing it. I can spend the same amount at Standard and Strange to get a similar Japanese shirt that will last forever and be durable. Moral of the story: Pre-wash the fabrics so a normal guy can wash and dry his clothes. I'm a gay fashion designer in a metropolitan city and if you can't convince me to take special care of a workwear style shirt, it's a hard sell for anyone. It's not denim. read more

The idea beyond Trumaker is excellent. Custom clothing with a dedicated outfitter that measures you and helps select outfits that fit your personality and style. Too busy to make it to the shop? They will come to you. By recommendation of several of my friends, I joined the bandwagon. I'm a tall guy, have a butt, and muscular legs, which make it very hard to find clothes. Button-down shirts rarely fit right without tailoring. I also have a busy schedule, so having the outfitter stop by my office was incredibly helpful. The initial appointment takes a couple hours, but is very inclusive as the outfitters create a complete profile for future planning regardless of how much you purchase in the beginning. The initial sale was a bit pushy, but I was firm on my initial investment. Everything is custom made in a factory in China, so expect it to take 3-5 weeks for delivery. I've ordered custom shirts from China in the past from traveling tailors, but I feel the wait time is a bit long for a more established business. My first order was impressive. The clothes fit well with only minor adjustments for future orders. Sadly, every order since has been a bit lackluster. No shirt since has quite had the same feel as the first and even after remakes, still feel awkward. The clothes are nice, but don't fit me like the glove I was expecting for the price. In many cases, the 50 dollar department store work shirts I buy look just as nice, are more comfortable, and don't wrinkle. I barely wear one of my trumaker shirts because regardless of how much starch and ironing, wrinkles up within minutes of wearing. Not even the dry cleaners can get this shirt fully de-wrinkled! This annoys me considering I paid over 100 bucks for it. Part of this is probably due to the various fabrics and I get that. I've been a sport and have gone in a few times to be re-measured and observed for adjustments to make the clothing fit better. I applaud this as they will remake shirts for free, but the time involved in doing this quickly became a hassle. The new store location is a pain to get to and if you are driving, will cost you a minimum of 15 bucks in parking. That plus the hour or two out of your day quickly decreases the value of the product. How many hours does it take of my time to receive a proper fitting $100+ shirt? I understand this is common with custom shirts, but I'm starting to debate the value. The ready to wear line is hit and miss. The quality is much lower than their custom wear and much of it doesn't fit me correctly. There are some new polos out that I want to check out, but am hesitant due to issues I've had with their box service. The one time I've tried it, I received incorrect sizes, one article of clothing with a hole in it, no return label, and overall, a several month experience that reminds me I need to verify if I was fully refunded. I'll probably stop by the store next time I'm in Union square to avoid those issues. Overall, I really want to like this business. The concept is great, the staff is good, but I feel the company is going through growing pains and issues with their supplier. I know they would accommodate me if I continued to express my issues, but I have to decide if the effort is worth it to me. If you want some nice custom clothing, Trumaker is worth a shot, just be very vocal about what you want, be prepared to wait awhile, and don't hesitate to return your items for adjustments. read more

Trumaker is new to me, but now that I have a couple shirts from them, it's tough to look anywhere else when it comes to updating my wardrobe. First, I love that they assign you a personal "outfitter" (shout out to Paige!) whom hand-holds you through the process, offers advice, and just straight up knows fashion (...I know a lot you guys need help here). Paige is very responsive to all of my questions, and bottom line: I trust her with my style. Second, I love that I can now (after my initial fitting session) easily go online whenever, and purchase made-to-fit shirts anytime. I can be laying in bed, taking a quick lunch, or on my phone, and order a CUSTOM shirt that will fit my body perfect. Time is money, right? I look at my closet differently now, and when going out, my eyes are immediately drawn to my Trumaker shirts by default. Time to get a few more! read more

First, I'm appalled to even have to leave such a terrible review. But I hope no one has to go through what we've been dealing with. I was cheated out of $500! No joke, they took my money and I literally received NOTHING. I purchased a GC as a Christmas gift in 2017, you read that correctly, 2017. We endlessly had to keep making fitting appointments with a designer who would cancel the day of or the day before. This went on for almost a year! I believe we went through three. We finally got an appointment with Sari in November 2018. After promising to take care of us due to a terrible experience just getting an appointment, it's been nothing short of a nightmare. First, we had to follow up with her and ask what's the status of the shirts after several months have passed. She stated that she would let us know when they've come in and nothing, for months. So we started thinking, what's going on?!? - Read a few reviews on Yelp of people having very similar issues. I then called the number on the website, and guess what, it's not their number. Finally, in March of 2019, I got ahold of Sari and spent a good hour on the phone with her, expressing our concerns and how we'd like to just get a refund. She fully apologized and agreed to refund our $500 GC. I asked her when we could expect to see the refund and she said 7-10 days. I followed up 2 weeks later and she said she'd check on it, then followed up a few weeks later and she said she check on it. I continued to follow up with and at one point she said, "Oh I thought this was taken care of Months ago." I have followed up every week now and most of the time I'm literally ignored. And just to be perfectly clear. I have been nothing short of Kind, Cooperative and Patient with them. I was promised my money back and I'm still waiting to this day. Steer clear of this awful company. CEO if you're out there, you took my money. I want it back as I have received nothing but empty promises from your company. read more

I hate writing negative reviews. At first I was extremely excited about Trumaker. My initial contact was great. And the fit of the shirts are great. However, the quality for the price is extremely poor. I am sure there are other places that make custom made shirts is better quality for similar prices. The woman who did my fitting is nice, beautiful, funny. But didn't get my order correct. And showed up late for me to try on my first shirt I received my second batch of shirts and the order was wrong. In the box there were no return labels and it took a while to hear back from someone and order to fix the shirts. Then print out the labels send the product back etc etc. I am pressed for time so this was a hassle for me. Now I am waiting another 2 weeks or more to receive the correct poor quality shirts with a good fit. Seems to be much more of a hassle than not. Step up your game Trumaker. I can see the potential but the application is lacking. read more

Although I feel like my original critiques are still fair and valid, having given Trumaker another shot I decided not all of it is quite the miss I thought it was before. There are some very nice quality shirts mixed in with the overpriced "meh" shirts but most importantly, Trumaker will tirelessly work with you until you have something you really want if you have the time and patience to find it. It's really cool seeing a company that stands behind their products so passionately. --- Original Review: I decided to give the Trumaker experience a shot since I have lots of trouble getting clothes that fit well off rack. I'm 5'10" with pretty athletic measurements so when I saw the Facebook ad for custom made shirts I figured this would be right up my alley. All-in-all the actual experience of buying these shirts was great! The fitting was very pleasant. Someone came to my home with samples and took plenty of measurements. She also walked me through lots of shirt styles and options. This was a very enjoyable experience and at this point I was very excited for Trumaker so I ordered two shirts, one more formal and one more casual, to test it out. The shirts arrived and I was, well, underwhelmed. I spent about $300 for two shirts and it just didn't live up to the premium shirt experience that I was hoping for given the price and time invested. The fabric felt a bit cheap and didn't seem like it would last well. Buttons were very basic. Collars were a bit flimsy. Admittedly I didn't spring for the nicest selection of fabrics as those were around $240 each but I expected a little more for what I paid. The fit was spot on but the shirt just felt like the type of shirt I would buy at Target. In my opinion you're much better off going to Macy's or even Kohl's and getting some shirts in their $60-$100 price range and having a tailor take them in for you for another $5 or so. read more

When my husband came back home after shopping for custom made suits and shirt, looking so happy, I had to check what's going on! He brought me in and had my measurements taken 'just in case'.. He then surprised me with a gift for Christmas, my very first Trumaker Shirt! WARNING: it's addictive! We just went again yesterday to check the size and ended up getting 6 more shirts! The initial fitting and interaction with Jen was great. I had to come in a second time to slim out the mid section due to the ratio of my chest to waist and that was fine. However, I wish the fit was better (like much better). The mid-section is still very loose, especially when tucking the shirt in. Additionally, the arms are loose as well. I would expect that for the price ($150-$180 per shirt), these shirts would be noticeably custom fit to my body, but it falls way short. Honestly, I have better fitting shirts from department stores that are simply "slim fit." Overall, the interaction with Jen was good but the price point and wait time of three months was far from exceptional for this clothing. Additionally, Jen followed up once to see how the shirts fit. I've been a Trumaker customer since August 2013. Almost every button-up shirt I own is a Trumaker shirt. They've got me as a customer for life. My outfitter, Julie, has always gone above and beyond to make sure that my shirts are always the perfect fit and that I'm more than satisfied with my purchases. But Trumaker's service goes beyond that. They redid my shirts when I gained a bunch of weight (the good kind) shortly after my very first order. When I was having issues with a certain button model, they rebuilt the affected shirts with fresh new buttons. I've never seen any company go to such great lengths to make their customers happy. Ridiculously excellent and professional service aside, their shirts are fantastic (can't speak to their pants etc because I haven't bought any...yet). There's a wide variety of materials, colors, and styles to choose from, and you've always got the ability to customize the heck out of everything (pockets, plackets, pleats)! It's a bit surprising to see such mixed reviews since my experience has been so good. Let's get a few things out of the way: Good: Customer experience has been solid. Outfitter was responsive and not pressuring in her consultation, gave me thoughtful feedback and opinions. Clothing came on schedule and fit nicely. Bad: Website has a lot of glitches that need to be worked out (i.e. hard to see which coupons or codes are actually being applied on the checkout). They use paper forms in the fitting session - might need to invest in a better digital app, Trumaker. Prices are a little high for what you get. Unique: Trumaker had a fitting session with a cool digital scanner that they invited me to and provided beers while I browsed their lines. Awesome event! Their showroom in downtown SF is also pretty sweet - I'd love to have an apartment like that place. So overall, my thoughts are the prices should come down a bit for what you get but otherwise I like it! read more

About a year and half ago I ordered my first trumaker clothing. A shirt for work. Friends told me how getting a built to order shift was the way to go. They noted it will make you just feel different. It will bring confidence. You will never go back to a store bought shirt. I decided to give it a try and just this week actually donated all old store bought (bannana, j crew, etc) shirts because I realized they have just been sitting in the closet. I LOVE the trumaker shirts. For work or play they are perfect. People constantly compliment me that I have lost weight, or looking more fit. In fact nothing has changed. It is just the shirts. I found the costumer service outstanding. I even ordered a shirt for my dad in DC and he noted the experiance he had with the outfitter was incredible as well. Very kind, pilot, up front and honest. Your first shirt may not fit right, the first or second time. But they have alway been quick to fix it and now that I have my measurements just right ordering additional is a piece of cake. Their faulkner shirt is probably my all time favorite. It was more money but DEFINITELY worth it. Love being casual in it or dressing up for a nice date night. Recently deicded to try a custom suit from them. Equally blown away. I had been researching built to order suits elsewhere and companies wanted 2500+. Trumaker did it for 1000 less! All in all this is one of the best things I have come across. I don't know why everyone doesn't use their products. I am surprised by the reviews that indicate the quality of the product is lacking. Not sure what is going on, but I ordered shirts back in October. Received the order only to find that every single shirt was measured incorrectly after I had already finalized a fit. I have documentation that shows they received my returned order, but have yet to heard anyone regarding a replacement. When you go onto the website, it doesn't link to anyone to connect with other than an email. I have sent one email once per week for the past three weeks and have yet to to get a response. I will not buy from this company again. I just want my money back!! read more

Prior to discovering Trumaker the mere thought of heading to the department store to shop for clothes brought back painful memories of shopping with my mother when I was thirteen. Assuming my mother never gets a side job at Trumaker, my shopping nightmares have been quelled as I never have to set foot inside a store - they make it super easy. The clothes I bought are tremendous and I couldn't be happier with my overall experience. I may still have mother issues, but at least I look good when I go to therapy... My experience started with a referral from a friend and I sort of went through the motions not really expecting much. But shopping with Trumaker is sort of like shopping with that cool hot friend that you always wanted more from but were happy just to have their advice on what looks good. My stylist Julie made the whole experience super easy. We met, and she first asked me some questions about what I liked and my style. Since I had neither a style nor knew what I liked, she really took a lot of time showing me some ideas. From there my new style sort of magically emerged and before I knew it I had some fantastic new shirts and sweaters at my front door. They both fit great. I've seen a lot of reviews about the positives of the fabric which I'll agree with but for me it really comes down to the overall experience - the ease and the people I've interacted with can't be beat. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Mai. She was really friendly and extremely helpful. I came into their showroom in SF and was treated with great hospitality. The fitting went smoothly and I was on my way in no time. Shortly thereafter, Mai contacted me to let me know that the dress shirt I ordered had arrived and made it very easy to meet up, even with her crazy schedule, to ensure that the custom shirt I ordered fits perfectly. I couldn't be happier with the shirt. The fit was great, as a custom shirt should fit. The material looked and felt very luxurious and is of high quality. Would recommend to others! read more

While I have not Yelped in ages, I felt I should write about my first experience with Sari and Trumaker. Custom fit clothing is something that every guy should experience, but you need to find the right people. I decided to try Trumaker to support a local Bay Area company, but what I got was so much more. Being a XXL guy, I don't fit into the typical SF urban mold - but Sari is someone special. She worked with me for an hour and a half and was thoroughly engaging mixing expertise, with practical suggestion and the type of charm that make you feel that she is there just to guide you to what you really wanted and some options you never thought would work - but they really do. I picked up my first shirt today and, as promised, it fit like a glove and moved perfectly with me. If you're in the market for something better than off the rack - I would highly suggest giving Trumaker and Sari a try because nothing feels better than wearing something perfect out the door. Thx. I had a great first experience with Trumaker. My outfitter (Christie) had great taste, honest feedback, and was a pleasure to hang out with. Follow-up was prompt, and when I received my first shirt and it didn't fit (a bit snug post-holidays), it was totally painless to get a no-charge adjustment. They just sent me a new shirt and I sent them back the original. In both cases the shirt arrived in less than two weeks, and this one fits absolutely perfectly. I've never had a shirt fit right in every way. I have long arms and always have issues with the cuff, especially when reaching. Apparently my left arm is longer than my right, too. I've been a loyal customer of Trumaker since 2015. Their made-to-fit shirts are awesome and my friends would compliment me on how well my shirts fitted me. They recently started doing suits and coats, I bought one of each and they are the best clothes I currently own. Echoing many other recent reviews though, something started to go wrong with their customer service since last year. It started with what should have been a simple and correctable mistake: an order of 3 shirts on June 2018 had the wrong measure for the circumference of the short sleeves so they had to be re-ordered. That meant I would need to wait a few weeks to get the corrected items, which I wouldn't mind, but I would actually never receive this order or a refund. Several emails and messages were shared between June 2018 to March 2019, most of which were ignored. I talked to them over the phone around November and they said they would re-order, but this delivery never happened. On January I requested my order to simply be refunded as it became clear that no resolution would happen, but this email was ignored. On March I emailed again expressing my frustration, again ignored. They effectively robbed me of the price of 3 shirts (somewhere between $200 - $300). read more

I ordered 8 shirts in January of 2018 and still haven't received half. Additionally, I've been owed a credit on two pair of pants which is excuses or no response. This is my fault as I should have contested the charge on my credit card a year ago but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I drove an hour to San Francisco to meet Sari over a month ago (April 2019) who claimed she would finally resolve this mess. As with all previous, she has now gone silent as well. No response to emails or texts to her or the main support email. As with all other negative reviews, please heed the advice a steer clear. read more

DISASTER! If I could give zero stars, I would. It took three months to get one shirt that I ordered for my son's wedding. It never came, but the excuses did. The staff keeps changing and it is difficult to contact anyone by phone or email. I finally received the shirt today and it does not fit! In December 2017, I ordered my first two Trumaker shirts with Victoria and I received two incredibly well fitting shirts that I still enjoy to this day. I quickly followed up with a suit -- that experience was a bit rockier as the coat needed a handful of adjustments. But at the end of the day (actually, more like at the end of a few unexpectedly long weeks), my suit had been well tailored by Andreas Gorgas, to whom Trumaker used to send articles for final adjustments. (Side note: Andreas Gorgas has long been an incredible tailor in SF, and he inspired one of my earliest Yelp reviews.) Around the summer of 2018, I went for broke and ordered five more shirts and a second suit through Trumaker. This later experience, in terms of customer service and quality of articles received, could not have been any different from my initial experience. First, the shirts -- I didn't exactly receive the shirts on a timely basis. I can't recall exactly how long I waited, but I definitely sent a couple of inquiries to Victoria. Once I finally received the shirts, they fit horribly. The arms were ridiculously tight. I think one shirt left half an inch around my forearms, and I do NOT have Popeye arms. I basically can't wear any of these shirts and breathe, so there they sit in my closet. Now the suit. Again, timing was a huge issue. I waited nearly three months to receive a complete suit. And the fit was hugely problematic. The jacket fit fine after some minor tweaks, but the pants are basically useless, even after a tailor job at my expense. I contacted the company several times, and, yes, they did reach out twice to try and remedy the situation. The first person to reach out offered another jacket to make my happy. I decided, "what the hell," and I ordered a sport jacket. Wouldn't you know it, fit again is an issue. So add another sport jacket to the mound of useless clothes I have from Trumaker. The last communication I had with anybody at the company was with Michael Zhang, the CEO. To his credit, he graciously listened to my complaint and offered to issue a refund (of some unspecified amount) if I returned all the ill-fitting clothes. He said, "I'll have customer service send you a return label, I certainly don't want you hanging on to clothes you can't use." That conversation was over a month ago, and still nobody has contacted me. I'm tired of complaining to Trumaker, so I here I am posting my frustration for all of Yelp to see. I think it's notable that this company's Yelp reviews have basically tanked since September 2018. Clearly, this is a company that lost its way. For myself, I've spent nearly $3,000 with Trumaker, and can wear two of seven shirts and one of two suits, all of passable fabric and construction (this isn't Saville Row we're talking)...that's not exactly what I call a fair exchange. read more

I echo the comments others have made. I used to love Trumaker for the shirts, which fit great and are high quality. I also ordered a couple pairs of pants that are very nice, but they couldn't get the fit right. (I finally took them to my dry cleaner for an alteration, which they were able to do right the first time in a week for $10.) Whatever, I still loved the shirts. I put in a new order for 4 shirts in December 2018. Months later I had heard nothing and they weren't responding to calls and emails, so I contested the credit card charge. Finally I got a call back and eventually got two of the shirts. But the others never came and I've gotten radio silence again. I've given up and will never use them again. read more

Trumaker is a Fantstic company! The shirts are stylish, perfectly fitting, and the outfitters are extremely nice and knowledgable! 2/3 weeks for custom shirts is very reasonable timing, all my shirts came out with the exact same cuts. Trumaker is always adding new shirt fabrics and an online reorder system makes it easy to keep buying month after month! I Highly recommend this company! Alex Suppan is my outfitter in Denver. She has taken care of me for a year and a half now and I couldn't be more pleased. She always makes sure I am happy with the product and checks in often to see how I am doing. Her customer service is something you only ever read about. She responds to my calls and emails so fast and I always trust her judgement on styling.
