Then we ordered a bunch of food to share and they brought everything out slowly so we could eat it after it was freshly made. At a recent Yelp Elite event (shout out to the Elites out there), a fellow Elite shared her experience in Calistoga and mentioned visiting an establishment called Robert's Tropical Table. With excitement in her eyes, she described the delicious tropical-inspired cocktails with good vibes to match. Since I had an upcoming birthday, I bookmarked the restaurant so that we would remember to visit it during our stay in Calistoga. After arriving in Calistoga on a Friday evening, my wife and I thought that it would be appropriate to have dinner and drinks at Robert's. Upon walking through the entrance of the restaurant, we observed a nice backyard-style layout with televisions tuned to the NBA playoffs, patrons enjoying glasses of wine, and a DJ playing smooth yacht rock tunes. A friendly employee informed us that it was open seating, so we sat ourselves along the padded seating in close proximity to the DJ. Shortly afterwards, a server came by to take our orders. My wife ordered the short rib, garlic fries, and the Sip It Slowly cocktail; I ordered the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Dumplings (suggested by the server), and the Jerk Old Fashioned. While we awaited our orders, the server brought us a delicious miniature size soup - which was absolutely delicious and definitely a tease! Shortly after, our drinks arrived. I found my drink to be delicious, strong, and was intrigued by the flavor that the little piece of submerged jerky provided. However, I will admit that I was a bit jealous when I snuck a couple sips of my wife's delicious cocktail. Up until the arrival of our meals, I was impressed. My wife found the short ribs to be just ok; additionally, her fries were lukewarm upon arrival and dry (as if they were overcooked). I have had Jamaican jerk chicken in Jamaica, so my expectations were very high. Unfortunately, the chicken was not flavorful and did not have the "kick (spice)" that I anticipated. Surprisingly, the highlight here was the dumplings (delicious!) and the Hint of Passion cocktail that I ordered (if I had a signature drink- this would be it!). I really should have listened to my intuition when we initially observed that a majority of the other patrons were just indulging in drinks, no food. When our server brought us the bill totaling roughly $160, I couldn't help but feel like the food was not in alignment with the price point. My Branzino was tasty but for 41 dollars very small The Gumbo was horrible greasy and my hubby said it tasted like they put a scoop of the poke rice, really horrible and over 30 dollars very dissatisfied This location is good for drinks only. Service was bad the waitress was very careless, poured my Pinot noir and spilled it all over the stem of my glass no napkin at all and I got it all over my white skirt. She never checked on us to order food for a while and it wasn't busy at all. Poor service from our waitress but another lady with dark hair was kind enough to get our order and was very nice. I was unfotunately unable to try the cuisine or cocktails. Although their website stated they opened at 3:00pm, and I arrived at 3:20, they weren't open. The owner was blowing leaves, cleaning tables, and talking on the phone. I approached the entrance and he looked me right in the face but didn't acknowledge me or offer any idea when he would be open. I sat on the outdoor bench near the entrance thinking it wouldn't be long, to no avail. After 20 minutes I noticed he had sat down and was fully engaged in his phone conversation so I took my business elsewhere. I passed back by about 4:15pm and he was just opening. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon here at Robert's last weekend. I did not want an alcoholic cocktail, so they made me a delicious mocktail. So they might want to add mocktails to their menu. We actually came to try the jerk chicken. It was beautifully plated and was delicious. It was not too spicy. I had the salmon poke bowl. It was really good. I wish it had a squeeze or two of more sauce to meld the flavors together. But each of the items within the bowl were very fresh and tasty. The owner, Robert, was very friendly and explained to us how the location for their restaurant was chosen. Interesting. The outdoor area was nice looking and comfortable. Great spot for drinks and a light meal or snacks. Hearing the reggae tunes played by the skilled musician on his steel drum, we walked in and Robert gave us a friendly welcome. I have had this place book marked for a while and I finally got a chance to check it out. This particular warm spring day we arrived right when they opened at 1pm on Saturday 4/19/25. The atmosphere is really relaxing with comfortable outdoor seating options from high top tables, to patio seating or even bar side . I am a fan of the Old Fashioned and was pleased to see a coconut washed version. My companion loves Mojitos and ordered a strawberry one. I have to say it was probably the best flavored Mojito I have ever tasted. We also enjoyed an order of tasty parmesesn garlic fries.. The vibe of this place with reggae playing; comfortable outdoor seating, delicious hand crafted cocktails, creative small bites definitely makes me want to return. Especially in the evening to enjoy some live music and additional cocktails. The owner Robert graciously gave us a private peek of his Rum Bar inside the adjoining hotel. I was very excited based on the reviews to try Robert's Tropical Table. They open in the late afternoon, so it's perfect for some before dinner drinks and small plates! The outdoor seating is so nice, there are many tables nestled into a small space, but it feels spacious and relaxing. There is great reggae music to listen to while you eat! The staff is very friendly, and took time to check on us, tell us about specials, and delivered our plates quickly. The food is wonderful and each plate was presented so beautifully. We enjoyed a variety of the small plates, including jerk chicken and mozzarella on the most delicious bread. I found the drinks exceptional. I ordered a pina colada mocktail, and unfortunately their blender wasn't working, so they offered to still make it, but as a shaken drink. It was so great! Somehow it still tasted like it had rum, even though it did not! My children each had margarita mocktails and this is the first time they asked for another. The drinks were great, very tasty. The only downfall was the service, they were trying to push more drinks when my girlfriends had full one's and the fact that the server Meagan overcharged, charging for extra drinks that were not ordered or received. She denied it when my cousin tried to dispute and had I known it wasn't fixed I would have asked for a manager. That part very disappointing being from the service industry myself. The menu looks great here! I was excited to try the dumplings and poke bowl. Unfortunately we didn't get to taste any of it. We came here last night for an earlyish dinner, having skipped lunch. Since there was no one at the entrance, we walked up to the bar, where two gentlemen in blue asked us if we were there for cocktails. I replied that we had come for dinner. One of them handed us two menus and told us to sit anywhere we liked and someone would be with us shortly. We picked a small table not far from the bar. And then we waited and waited some more. No one came over to take a drink or food order. No one came over to even bring water or silverware. I understand if maybe they were short staffed, but servers walked past our table twice without acknowledging us at all. A table that sat after us was attended to. After about 10-15 minutes of being completely ignored, we got up and went to another place down the street. read more

Our fantastic waitress, Patty, told us we could tell Robert what flavor profiles we liked so he could create custom drinks for us. Every single creation was delicious! Even better, they have a 2-for-1 Happy Hour special. The food is just as stellar as the bar program. We started with a complimentary amuse-bouche of a small, delicious cup of soup. Next, we ordered the salmon tartare to start, followed by three entrees: the jerk chicken, braised short rib, and branzino. Every single dish was absolute perfection. We finished our meal with a perfect coconut panna cotta. The service and atmosphere truly set this place apart. The ambiance was perfect and complemented by wonderful background music.
