Part 1 of 3 1. I'd like to share my roofing experience with Trusted Home Contractors (THC) who I believe if not in the top 1%, should be at least in the top tier in the roofing industry. I am an aerospace engineer with 35 years of industry experience and every major project I undertake has to meet my strict criteria for FFF (Form, Fit and Function). My review is long, however, hopefully detailed enough to provide you with an accurate picture sufficient enough to make an informed decision for your next roofing project. 2. Background. Our family home is situated in the West Adams district of Los Angeles (a few miles west of downtown and south of Korea Town). The home was built in 1907 and the city has classified it as a historic 'Craftsman Bungalow'. This corner home is approximately 1650 sq. ft. and has rare features not seen anymore including 'old growth' redwood shingles (not stucco or wood siding), a large wrap-around front porch, an unattached one car garage and a basement/cellar. My sister and I grew up in this home and after my parents passed away, we decided to keep the home and rent it out. For a home this old, the overall condition is excellent, however, the outside required a lot of TLC including a new roof. 3. Phase 1, Administrative Review and Interview - I started out on the internet and spent a few days reviewing 11 websites (chosen at random) that service our area. I noted their business license numbers and reviewed the companies against the Department of Consumer Affairs website (www.cslb.ca.gov), ensuring they had an active license (all had active licenses) and were in good standing with the state. I then went to the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and verified each company had no complaints. From the 11, five companies had complaints leaving six companies to interview by phone. During each review, I took copious notes with each customer service representative. Since most office personnel are non-technical nor 'field trained', I was limited to confirming the information I found on the internet and all administrative related questions (e.g. how long have you been in business, the quantity of roofers under contract, work backlog, turnaround/response time to any inquiries I will have, etc.). Of the six conversations, the representative that stood out the most was Howard Pinkston, from THC, based out of Reseda. Howard spoke courteously, seemed happy that I called, mentioned that he was respectful of my time and was able to answer every question...including a few technical questions. When I asked how much Los Angeles area recognition THC has, he stated they have excellent on-line reviews and are well established in the Los Angeles city and surrounding areas. In addition, he asked me to tune-in to the company's live internet streaming advertisement on 94.7 FM (The Wave) radio at the scheduled times he gave me. What impressed me most about Howard, was when I mentioned our century old home, he became very enthusiastic about the job and asked that he would really appreciate it if I give THC a chance to provide a proposal/quote. He stated that he wanted to show how THC can really provide excellent customer support on even old historic homes. Note: A week or so later, after speaking with Matt, the THC territory representative, I found out Howard not only answers the telephone when in the office, but is also the company owner. read more

Trusted Home Contractors worked on remodel and renovations at my residence in Mission Viejo. They did great job at a reasonable price. They completed the project on time and without delay. Their personal were polite and professional. I had some work with other contractors in the area however the work done by trusted home contractors was far superior.They did excellent job. I've worked with both Jeremy and Carlos on two projects - a roof repair and a patio cover (Four Seasons). Both guys were awesome. They always quickly called back or texted. Their crew was on time and very very nice. They were helpful and offered suggestions on design ideas etc. I can't say enough about them. I'm saving my money now for more future projects!!! read more

I wish I could give this company a negative star but that's not an option. Save your money, save the stress, headache, frustration etc. Avoid this company at all cost, they will give you one quote get you happy then change it and try to spike the prices. They will set an appointment to meet then arrive 2 hours late, sometimes not even arrive or call. I hired this company to install an outdoor backyard patio to prevent rain damage to our French doors, I immediately began having issues since the work was not done as expected. Soon after I contacted the company explained the issue and they send a 3rd party worker. Fine ! the solution? lets add a whole bunch of caulking and problem solve! Noooo due to the atmosphere it turned black and moldy, and most importantly it didn't solve the original problem it only Made it worst (since I now have mold and looks disgusting) contacted them again ... well you get the story. They have given me the run-around and fail to do their job and stand by their word. Yes, Ive spoken to supervisors (so they state that they are) Carlos, Christ, Leah... they all promised to call me and get the work done but NADA ! A worker did come once .. about 1 hour late but he arrived, took pictures, assured me he will inform the company and make sure they follow up and even agree the job was done very poorly, this was about a month ago now, but nope not one person has called. On the other hand I've had to call several times 50+ in the last 2 months or so, several voicemail, text, etc. DO THE JOB !! FIX IT ! STAND BY YOUR COMPANY, OTHERWISE STEP ASIDE AND ALLOW REAL CONTRACTORS TO DO THE JOB YOUR COMPANY CANT DO !! DONT JUST TAKE THE MONEY DO A JOB AND CONSIDER YOUR CLIENT DONE!! good thing I prevented my neighbor from hiring this shady company. !! Never Ever !!! read more

Stay far away from this company. They will rip you off. One of the worst experiences I ever had. They sent four different roof guys to fix the roof and it is still leaking badly. They have and will not stand behind their warranty. I finally found a real roofer and he told me this was the worst fix job he has ever seen by a roofing company. We had Trusted Home contractors put on our new roof. Our Field Rep was Sophie and she was very good at explaining the Owens Corning products and procedures they would be using. My husband was impressed an sold even though we had estimates from others that were lower. The roofing team was great. They were all polite, courtesy and always answered our questions. They tore off the old and put up the new in two days. The team at Trusted Home Contractors were always very polite and understanding as we wanted this done right away before rain. They offered several programs to help with cost and when i was approved they xame out to my house right away and started the roofing project. Very professional and quick. We had a bad leak from our patio roof so we contacted roofing companies for quotes to redo the entire house this past November. The representative, Eran, from Trusted Home Contractors was extremely friendly and quoted us a price significantly less than the other companies and promised to start the job almost immediately so naturally we went with them. A couple of days into the job, the project manager stated that our initial quote was $7000 too low and they were going to lose money on the job. Now to their credit they didn't increase our bill an extra $7000 but they did have us pay half of that extra amount - can you say "Bait and switch"? But at least they finished the job within 4 days of signing the contract which was significantly sooner than any other company was even planning on starting. We definitely wanted to beat the rainy season, which we did. However once the rains hit hard we noticed the patio still had a small leak so I quickly contacted Eran. He brushed me off and said to call the main office which I have done twice. Both operators took my call, wrote down my information and complaint and said a technician would contact me. It's now been almost 3 weeks and I have not heard back from anybody over there. If you want the job done quickly, then this is your company. If you want the job done right, then go elsewhere. There is a warranty on the roof but a lot of good that does me when I cannot even get the company back out here to fix their work. It would have been a 1 star review but at least the main house isn't leaking...at least not yet. read more

I can highly recommend Trusted Home Contractors. Their pricing is very reasonable, their work is excellent and they were on the job just a few days after we called. We hired THC to repair and re-tile the balconies in our condominium and Paul, the company's representative, delivered -- going above and beyond the services we contracted for! THC threw in termite treatments, extra sealers and even cleaned and painted the stucco around the balconies -- all for free. With the wide array of services they provide, with their close, on-site supervision and their expert work - our HOA has selected Trusted Home Contractors as our go-to for all upcoming work. read more

I needed a new roof and contacted this company. They are not trusted as their name implies. The charged me two and a half times what this job would cost. More importantly they did a poor job. They took advantage of me. I contacted and filed a complaint with the State Contractors Board. In order to stop their investigation, he filed a suit against me. The State Contractors investigation found faulty workmanship. In addition, I won my suit against this company in a court of law. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. The Contractors Board informed me they had 23 complaints against them. They advertise heavily and gouge people to pay for their advertizing. They are also fraudulent. They changed the contract after I signed it. Really scary that this company is in existence. I learned my lesson. Writing to spare anyone else from the fraud, deceit and faulty workmanship at the hands of this company. read more

I had a roof emergency I called Trusted Home to come out and inspect roof and give me a quote. There representative was at my location 2 hrs after my phone call. I own property in Los Angeles but live in Las Vegas they put on a new roof within a few days and kept me totally in the loop, which made me feel at ease that they were going to take good care of this situation even if I was out of state . The naterial being used is of great quality, and instalers do the job in a very profesional manner. My extended patio being builded, took only a couple of days to have it done. I had a quote of over $6000 to replace a 10x12ft flat roof. Trusted home quoted me $3000 to replace my entire flat roof 40x12ft. Trusted is the perfect name. It was raining when we discovered we had a problem with our roof. Because they knew it was urgent they did their work between the days that rained, instead of waiting. They always responded to any questions I had and gave me updates. They literally did everything they said they would in their contract without fuss and were very professional. They were very friendly and even did non-roofing related work I requested they help out with. They sent out a separate professional to do that task with a reasonable price. I just had my roof, deck, and paint projects finished with Trusted Home Contractors. They had great service and fast replies. They were very patient to wait with me for our HOA approval for almost two months. Afterwards, they finished these three projects within three weeks. Their crews were efficient and friendly, and the house looks great when finished. Ali was the person I talked to in the beginning to get an estimation. He was very thorough about the process and the materials they are using. Tina is the office manager that communicated and coordinated with me for updates and questions. She is efficient and will answer my questions through text messages even late at night. Brian was the project manager that walked through with me after the project. He was patient and knowledgeable, and he answered all my questions in details. I would definitely recommend this company to others who need house work. Even though their price might be a little higher than others in the same industry, but their efficiency, quality of materials, and service definitely worth the price. read more

We hired this "contracting" company to install a new roof, paint the interior and exterior of our home, replace all plumbing and electrical hardware and fix our pool decking. Areas of the home were never even painted; we have had to hire someone to literally go around the house and paint areas that were never even touched. They never did our pool. We also purchased new doors, locks, hardware and screens to be installed. This company NEVER had a licensed plumber, electrician, or professional door hanger. WE WERE GIVEN A HANDYMAN to take care of a remodel. The licensed contractor with whom we contracted never visited our home, oversaw the construction or responded to our numerous requests for a meeting. We also learned that our salesperson committed fraud and was ultimately terminated. The contractor then had his Daddy (not a contractor) try to run interference, but never showed his face or visited our home. Additionally, we noticed paint flaking and chipping all over the interior and exterior and now after being professionally reviewed, we find that the paint was cut by half. Currently, the exterior paint is literally peeling off the house and we now find that the exterior and interior of the home were never properly prepped or primed. They did not use the contracted for paint; they ruined our new hardwood floors with their ladders and paint overspray, destroyed all of our window screens due to the roofing soot that was left; our porch is peeling back to the old color; the doors were never weather-stripped properly; because they refused to purchase the proper jig to install all of the door hardware, the handyman used a chisel and destroyed 9 new exterior doors. The door hardware is falling off and was damaged by paint overspray. During the roofing and painting of our home, they destroyed thousands of dollars of landscaping, some of which has yet to recover. We are currently pursuing a CSLB action against this company and a claim against their bond, no doubt suit will follow. They continue to offer more and more money to not pursue the claim, however, we cannot take their "hush money" and allow this to happen to others. read more
