3.5 stars, rounding up. We stumbled upon Truva by accident. It's in a part of Pleasanton that I don't associate with dining. We had an early dinner there. You order at the counter, then they bring you the food, no other table service. The Wife ordered a falafel wrap, while I took a chance with the seafood combo plate. We also ordered the vegetarian dolmas. Everything was pleasant. The shrimp were very well cooked, but I wondered how fresh the salmon was, since it had a slight "fishy" smell. We make dinner with similar salmon portions at home superior to this. The falafel wrap was quite good, as were the dolmas. We also got complimentary bread on the side, which was decent, if a bit dry. I ordered a diet coke and got a can, before I noticed I could have just had free water from the condiment area. There's a large dessert display, but we weren't hungry for more. I would hesitate to stop in again, but might just get a shrimp dish instead. read more

Moussaka is on the menu! Hubby loves this dish so wanted to give it a try. This restaurant serves halal Mediterranean and Turkish food. You order at the counter, go sit down, and they bring your food to your table. It's a popular spot, several people were enjoying a late lunch and others doing take out. They have at least a dozen tables inside and a few outside as well. The moussaka proved to be a solid choice. It came with hummus, salad, rice and bread. Hubby enjoyed the fresh flavors and said he would definitely order it again. I ordered the chicken shish wrap and it was smaller in size but filling. The chicken was moist and seasoned well. Overall, a nice experience. The interior is cozy and comfortable. The staff will come and clean the tables as time allows. There was very little interaction with the employees but they thanked us as we were leaving. Plenty of parking in the large lot shared with many other businesses. read more

One of my go to spots! I love the avgolemono soup - have had it at least a dozen times. Also their ground chicken kebab is delicious with a lot of flavor. Every time we walk in, we are greeted with a smile and the food comes right to our table. Lots of indoor seating and they have TVs inside (we watched one of the world cup games while having dinner). Wow. Second time here, really impressed with the quality of food, every single item was made perfectly, and friendly and fast service. Their sides are outstanding- rice is fluffy and warm and well seasoned, the salad is a great balance, hummus is wonderful, Turkish bread is warm, soft right out of the oven we had the special combination grill that's $28.95 first time, was too shy to get such a high price item, but it's really good for two or three. Includes the lemon beef kebab, chicken kebab, Lulu skewer, chicken and lamb gyro. Lamb shank. I did cooked off the bone tender. The tendon was soft on the bone and the tomato juices were simmered in a great gravy. Came with hummus and rice. $27.95 Like before, the olives (marinated to perfection) and feta were really good. It came in a rich red olive oil marinade. $7.99 Greek salad with the Kalamata olives, feta cheese was very nice. $10.99 Added salmon $11.99 salmon is nicely cooked, moist and tender but probably not worth $12 extra price. read more

The reviews live up to the hype of this fast casual Turkish spot, that doesn't skimp on portions or freshness. The owner is there at the register and he's also a delight! i didn't order ahead of time and while everything was prepared freshly, it came out quickly. The fresh bread with the garlicy butter is incredible. I ate the pitas in my car, because they were piping hot and I couldn't help myself. I just wanted to eat one, but then I ate both, like the carb monster that I am. We went with a gyro plate and a falafel wrap and both were fantastic and for the price, well portioned. I have found at a many medit spot, the meat tends to be oversalted, this is for freshness purposes, it keeps the meat fresher... but the sodium bloats me, makes me thirsty and also, just not a fan. Truva... I didn't get sodium effects. The meat was fresh. Overall, this was a fantastic find... thanks Yelp! Maybe I ordered the wrong food, but don't get the lamb & beef wrap. It says Mediterranean grill, so I was thinking it was like a Greek Gyro. Meat was hard and tasteless. It says it has t sauce, so I thought Tzatziki but it was tahini sauce. Horrible wrap! I ordered two; one for my dinner and one for lunch tomorrow, but after eating half of one I threw them both out. We are here with family for dinner last night. Food is ordered at the counter, and everything came out fast. We started with orders of the dolmas, which were good, and spanakopita, which were fantastic. Three of us had the gyro platters, and the fourth had the gyro wrap. Gyro meat was different than any other gyro we've had before. It was somewhat thin and kind of shredded. To me, it tasted more like beef than lamb, and could've used more seasoning. Everything was good, and maybe I'd get it again, but I would do so not expecting a typical gyro dish. I'm not sure my daughter was impressed with her gyro wrap. More lettuce than meat, and I think she had a similar view on the taste. Hummus, pita, and everything else were fine. read more

Super solid Mediterranean food! The portions are super generous and everything was delicious! I got the Truva Special Mix and it came with a lamb kebab, lamb and beef gyro, chicken gyro, chicken kebab, and a lamb shish kebab. The plate was absolutely loaded with meat and it came with a side of bread that was super soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The sauces were excellent and paired very well with each item on the plate. The chicken had an excellent grill flavor to it and the gyro was amazing. I can't believe I've never been here before! I see Truva on Yelp all the time, but didn't realize how close it was to my work. Truva is located next to the Chick-fil-A on Hopyard Rd. There's plenty of parking in the lot. I ordered the chicken gyros plate (comes with pita bread) and the baba ganoush. Everything was fresh and delicious! It was a bit pricey, but I had leftovers for the next day so it wasn't too bad. The baba ganoush was nice and smokey and it was perfect with the pita bread! I met a friend for lunch at Truva Mediterranean Grill around 12:30 on a weekday. The place was almost full with only 2 tables left. There are about a dozen tables inside and no outside seating. The place is located in a shopping center and there was parking available. We choose the place because my friend is vegetarian and there were a few vegetarian options. You have to walk in, order at the counter, pay, take a number and pick a table. They also have take out. I choose the combo wrap while my friend choose the falafel wrap. The prices are not cheap. It was $14.99 for my wrap, which was a good size but still a bit of a sticker shock. The combo included pork, beef and chicken along with vegetables and tahini sauce. I asked for my sauce on the side. They have plates, wraps, salads, skewers and appetizers. They also have a variety of Mediterranean desserts and self serve water. The waiter who bought us our order was rushed because it was busy and when I asked for the hot sauce, he just pointed to a bottle at the table and kept walking. The food was tasty but so greasy, beyond normal greasy, the wrap is cut into 2 pieces and I had one piece for lunch and by the time I was done, the oil was streaming down my palm and hand. Had a nice half day up here and decided to try his local spot. It was busy so definitely had high hopes coming in. The vibe inside the restaurant seemed like a old school diner. After we order our food, we are given a number which the server will locate and hand us the food a the table. The drinks are self served there with the water fountain. The first thing we tried was the falafel. The seasoning of the falafel was definitely one of my top among the falafel I tried. The only complaint was it it was a bit dry and could have been fried a bit less. It was hot and steamy which was nice! We also go the fries and it was nice and crispy. We got a lot more than we anticipated. I got the alexander for my entree. I definitely underestimated the dish as I thought it was a nice and light portion. The plate and stacked high with a mix of lamb and beef slices and had an abundance of sauce over it. I really like how the tomato acidity balanced with the meat and the yogurt sauce on the side was a nice dip for the pita bread. In the end, I couldn't finish and we had to togo some of the food. Really good! Found this place on Yelp while traveling, and we'd definitely come again if back in the area. Our salmon and lamb kebabs were perfectly prepared and tender, rice was fluffy (though more plain, not like pilaf), salad was fresh and tasty, hummus was especially creamy and wonderful, and the bread...! They bring a whole basket, and you think you won't eat it all, but it's hard to resist, especially with all that flavorful hummus begging to be dipped up. A rare plus for dining in - real plates and flatware. The place isn't large, but there's also a little outdoor seating, and our dog was welcome there. I see others complaining about customer service, but that wasn't our experience. The staff person chatted pleasantly for a minute when he brought out our order, expressed his hope we had enjoyed the meal afterward, and wished us a pleasant trip. I suspect some of the disconnect may be cultural differences since staff accents suggest origins elsewhere. It takes a while to adapt to American expectations, but they're obviously trying. I came here for lunch with a friend and forgot that they mix lamb with the beef. I usually avoid lamb because I find it too gamey, but since I was already here, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the combo with chicken and beef/lamb skewers. Personally, I didn't notice much of that typical lamb flavor, but my friend, who's more sensitive to it, did pick up on the gaminess. Been having Mediterranean food lately from another spot closer to home. Wanted it again but work is opposite from that way, so Yelp led me to Truva with the good ratings. Had the Combo Kebab Plate with chicken and lamb that comes with salad, pita bread and hummus, which is my go-to at the other spot. The pita bread is thicker and denser than I anticipated, although edible it wasn't what I particularly enjoyed. Hummus was okay. Rice was soft. Chicken was tender, but lacked enough seasoning. Lamb was rough and gamey. Couldn't enjoy that as well. Salad was okay, dressing didn't help. Overall, not my cup of Mediterranean tea. read more
