This was my first time having Halal and this place absolutely blew my mind away. When we arrived, we were greeted and sat away by our amazing server. We opt in for the outdoor seating with this canal made inside the plaza and heaters placed all around. What we ordered: Sampler kabob (5/5): this came with chaplee, chicken and beef so you get a little bit of variety to try from. This dish was so delicious, all the ingredients were super fresh and goes well together. Bolani Potatoes: (4/5): was surprised by the huge portion size and was not expecting so much for an appetizer. Other wise, simply delicious and had this yogurt sauce to dip from, great flavor balance! Lamb Kabobs: (5/5): off the grill type of flavor, you can taste the char on each individual lamb chop. The meat was buttery and melts in your mouth, a must get if you ever come here. Overall this was such an amazing place to try middle eastern food for my first time. If you have never had, I would 100% recommend this place to be your first if you're in the area.

Been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile and finally got the chance today. I always see lots of patrons and the waft of the barbecued meats is very tantalizing. Both hubby and I ordered the combo plates and the beef and chicken were both tender and well seasoned. It came with rice, naan, and salad. Everything was really good and the service was excellent. The outside dining area by the waters is so nice and enjoyable.

Came here yesterday late afternoon for lunch. We were seated right away. Really cute Afghan traditional outdoor seating by the lake. The food was warm and fresh. Great customer service. We will definitely be back if In the area.

This is probably only the second Afghan restaurant I have eaten. We were warmly greeted and asked if we wanted to eat inside or outside. If it's a nice day, definitely eat outside. It was dreary so we ate inside. We ordered the Sampler Kabob and the Lamb Chops to share. The lamb chops were hit and miss. Some pieces were excellent, some were bony, some were fatty. But it was very flavorful. For the sampler, my family loved the Chicken Kabob. I liked it, but not as much. The Teka Beef Kabob was really good. But my favorite was the patty-like Chaplee Kabob. Each of our meals was served with rice, salad, and bread. The rice was good, the salad was great. The only disappointing aspect of the meal was the bread. It was room temperature and nothing special. They call it naan, but it's not like the Indian naan served hot and a little crispy.

I watched a IG video that featured this place, so it was immediately bookmarked. I didn't realize that it was in a small outdoor mall area. My best friend and I decided to sit down outside to enjoy the weather and also the pond. We ordered the potato bolani to start and both got the sampler kabob plate. It took a little while for the food to get to our table, but once it did we were pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. The potato bolani was crispy on the outside with flavorful potato inside. The yogurt sauce along with the green hot sauce complimented the bolani very well. The sampler kabob platter allowed both of us to try differently prepared meats. It was all so delicious. I had enough leftover to have more the next day. Visit 786 Kabob House...like today! You won't regret it.

My partner and I decided to try this restaurant after seeing he saw it on social media. Outside dining was a little more popular compared to sitting inside- this restaurant was beautifully decorated outside, with lovely traditional Afghan pillows. I found the food to be delicious and well-seasoned. My partner who is Afghan, wasn't too fond with the kababs as he found them a little dry and salty- he was also disappointed that our appetizer came in last- after we had finished our entrees. The service could've been a little better knowing they weren't too busy that day.

Stopped here after visiting the neighboring museum. It looked like a fun Mediterranean restaurant to try. The kebabs were super flavorful! The chicken was some of the most tender I've had. Server was friendly and efficient. Nice outdoor area to lounge and listen to the waterfalls & fountains. Highly recommend!

Sampler Kabob with shor nakhod, cucumber salad, and really hard bread...

Finally gave this place a second go and did not disappoint! Also in my last review, the bread was hard and tough to eat. This time it was soft, so yay! Improvement! The meat is still well seasoned and flavorful. I got the combo while my fiancé got the sampler. Tried a bit of the Chaplee and while it does have spice to it, it's mild and not as spicy as other places like De Afghanan which works well for me! On top of it, Shor Nakhed is hard to find and they still have it and it's still delicious! So giving them the full five stars cause this place deserves it. Coming back again when I can!!

Great views, flavorful chicken kabobs and very authentic tea. Really enjoyed our dine in here

Beautiful ambiance and delicious food! My girlfriends and I had the perfect dinner here. It felt like a private dinner, it was intimate and the food was comforting. The chicken kabob, chaplee and lamb was moist, tender and juicy full of flavor! Oh and I loved their rose infused lemonade! It was so refreshing.

I would get it five stars for Location! Beautiful and calming backdrop in Blackhawk! The food is decent, though lacking in flavor in my opinion. The mint chutney condiment is a must try and complements any of the dishes really well!

Great food I love the area, it's nice taking a walk after your meal. Been here two times. Would come again

Located by the pond of ducks and geese at Blackhawk Plaza is the most unexpected of eateries. 786 Kabob House offers a small menu of Afghani kabobs in a cafe setting with traditional red cushioned seating. We started with the Borani Kadu, a soft, sweet braised pumpkin wedge drizzled with yogurt and topped with dry mint. But the highlight item was the Sampler Kabob Plate, which came with chicken kabob, teka beef (tri-tip) kabob, and chaplee kabob (minced sirloin with chilies), along with seasoned brown basmati rice, naan (crusty Afghani flatbread), and Afghan salata (cucumbers, tomatoes, onion). Each of the kabobs was juicy and flavorful, but my favorite was definitely the chaplee kabob, which had a crispy texture on the outside and a spicy flavor throughout! Overall, the food at this restaurant was decent and rather unexpected for its location. The portion sizes were generous for the prices, though the service left something to be desired.

Not a simple order by any stretch. Getting the owner (?) on the phone to place the order took some persistence, but once we connected, she was fantastic. She helped us figure out quantities, steered us toward the right dishes for the vegetarians and the kids, and was upfront about what contained nuts. She even threw in extras (salad and dessert) to complete the meal. I felt like she treated us like family. Pricing was very reasonable, everything arrived on time -- delivered by her uncle, no less -- and there was so much food that every guest went home with a takeout container -- the true mark of a successful spread. My husband was considerably less thrilled that I didn't save any of the meat dishes for home (he still laments it every time we talk about this awesome catering experience to others). For dine-in, our favorites are the lamb kebob, the Qabili, and the chicken kebob. We'll keep coming back.

My go-to is the triple kebab (which you can customize), and I'm partial to their shami (ground beef), chicken, and chapli (beef patty). The meat is succulent and incredibly well-seasoned, with the shami being a standout...definitely the kind of dish you don't judge by its cover! This dish is served on a bed of rice and small salad. The rice is cooked well. I have also tried several of their appetizers, and my favorites are the samosas and borani banjan (eggplant), though the bolani are also great, and the serving size is enough to feed a small army. The samosas are a nice departure from traditional samosas I am accustomed to, especially at India restaurants. The ones here are large, flatter (almost like an empanada), and not the slightest bit greasy. You can tell they make these fresh. The banjan have a nice acidity and a tasty cream/tomato sauce they are tossed within. The bolani can be prepared with either leeks or potatoes (or ask for a combo!) and are served with a cream dipping sauce. I feel that everything here is a good value, with the triple kebab coming in at $25, and the appetizers all coming in at $10-$15. You will not leave hungry.

I personally think everything needed some salt, but maybe it's meant to be this way. Highlight is most definitely the green sauce (yogurt and chili, not spicy), baklava (sweet sticky on the bottom and flaky crisp on top, not overly sweet), yogurt mint drink (dough). Shami beef and chicken kebab were juicy and not dry. Through a bit of miscommunication.. I was given the yogurt drink instead of the normal side of yogurt cucumber sauce for the meat, and was warned by Ali that some people don't like it since it's a yogurt drink with salt, but honestly it was great and was essentially a yogurt mint sauce I expect from other Mediterranean/Middle Eastern type places but more watery. So admittedly I just took sips of this while taking bites of the kebab and rice and it was pretty much the flavors I was looking for, but an extra step. Beef Mantu was another source of confusion since there are regular and homemade versions (I didn't realize). They made me the homemade version without confirming with me on the phone; no problem. It was filled with lightly seasoned beef and topped with interesting spices. Overall not bad not great, definitely needs sauce / salt. Too light in my opinion. And for $25 I wouldn't get again not worth it. The customer service from Ali was great.
