We just moved to the area a month ago and wanted to try a restaurant in downtown Pleasanton. Upon seated, the staff provided bread for the table with some type of olive dip. It was simple and salty which was a nice way to start dinner when our drinks arrived. I had a hibiscus martini which was cute and refreshing and paired lovely with the saltiness of the dip ! It was delicious! Would order again. We started off with appetizers. We ordered the Kofte which were Turkish meatballs with tomato sauce. The meatballs were flavorful and juicy. The sauce had a slight kick to it which I enjoyed. I would just request they add more sauce next time. We also had the Greek dip trio which was hummus, tzatziki and babaganoush with pita bread. The platter was generous and I really loved that each dip was distinct from one another. We had plenty leftover so we requested it to go along with extra pita bread! As an entree I ordered the Talas dish. I wasn't sure what to expect but when the dish arrived I was surprised. It was a flaky pastry with a chicken/vegetable stuffing on a curry sauce topped with raisins and apple slices. This was a different yet intriguing combination. At first bite into the pastry, I felt the filling was salty but once you combine it with the curry sauce and apple all the flavors are brought out together. The curry was mild so the combination of it with the salty filling along with the slight sweetness of the apple and raisins all balanced each other out. I'm glad I tried something different and out of my comfort zone! I really enjoyed the dish and the variety of flavors it brought out. We came in on a Friday evening and although they were busy, the waitress and staff were all polite and attentive . It was pleasant to feel welcomed and they were all sweet. Went with a group that meets monthly in the Bay Area for happy hour gatherings. Lakanta does not have a specific happy hour menu but everything during happy hour time is 20%off. We were seated in the back near a service station and the bar. So employees were Clearly visible to us. It was not busy when we arrived at 400pm on a Friday with reservations. There were 6 of us so an automatic tip was added. Service was non existent from the start. Everyone was nice once we flagged or got up and asked for service but there was clearly no consistency with who our server was nor follow up when our food finally arrived. With it not being busy service should not have been that way. We received no acknowledgment nor apology for the lack of Service which was clear As I got up to seek observer as well As asked about the arrival of our food. As for the quality of the food we received. I ordered the beet salad which was the best I have had. That is why this review is not a one star. Problem without the service to compliment the quality of food I will not return. I am Not sure if the automatic tip Factored in As this is a first time Dining here. The brick exterior sets it apart from other locations in the area and gives it a unique feel. The tzaziki was tasty and they gave you a lot of it, but not a ton of pita bread to go with it. So we had tried asking for more of the sourdough bread and it never came. The food itself was good! The short ribs and Mahi Mahi were both a little overcooked, but the lamb burger and paella were solid. The lamb burger was tall and hard to get a good bite on. A bit messy but good! The service is really friendly but the food took a long time to arrive. Considering our group was practically their only customers, I am concerned about them scaling. The complimentary bread was good and warm. The olive oil dip was nice. The food was actually good but very overpriced. The talas was nicely prepared and flavorful but it was $28. It wasn't served with any sides or anything else. The chicken skewer (singular) was $22 but we got charged $3 to replace the rice with a scoop of salad. It was all good but too expensive for the quality. The lamb skewer was also good but the value proposition is just not there. read more

Our waiter took our drink orders promptly and gave us time to look over the menu. We were given warm bread with a dipping oil that has crushed olives (yum!). As usual, the service was friendly and attentive, the right combination of taking care of you and giving you your space. The presentation was clean and simple. Instead of adding beans, they add a bit of ground beans which add a little flavor and a slight crunch. FYI; They used coffee from a warmer, not espresso. Just an observation. They also used Baileys, a lot of baileys. While the first espresso martini of the day also had baileys, this one seemed to rely too much on the baileys and it definitely influenced the taste. Fortunately, we both enjoy our baileys (isn't that what coffee was made for) so we weren't turned off by it by any means. However, we don't want our espresso martinis to be dominated by the baileys. It has been quite a few years since we have been to Lokanta. It was a Tuesday night and St. Patty's Day so it wasn't to capacity but as a party of 5 we got seated immediately. We sat in the bar area which feels like an atrium with all the foliage outside. Service was good. I ordered the chicken kebab plate and hubby ordered the braised ribs. He loved them. The chicken kebabs were good but the portion seems much smaller than I remember, it's a 4 piece skewer. We also got the flaming cheese which is quite the spectacle cause they light it on fire. When the guy lit it up he caught the lamp on fire which was an added bonus. Overall food was good. Some portions are really large and some like mine are small which is good if you want a light meal. The hubs and I love to come to Pleasanton for the excellent selection of restaurants here. We decided to try Lokanta for an early dinner on Tuesday evening. We were lucky to get a table outside as they were quite busy inside and at their sidewalk dining area as well. The cuisine is Mediterranean with a combination of Greek and Turkish influence Turkish being the more prevalent. I always emphasize that I would prefer quality over quantity and that is exactly what you will get here. The food is impeccably prepared, delicious and the meat succulent and beautifully presented. I left satisfied and not over full partially because I shared some of my food with my husband. Besides the complimentary bread they brought to the table we shared at the the meze sampler or the three dips that are common to Mediterranean cuisine, hummus tzatziki and baba ganoush with delicious toasted pita and for entrees we ordered the lamb and swordfish kabobs which we shared. My husband also ordered one of the specialty drinks. I can't remember the name of it but it was the one made with hibiscus and I believe it's the first one listed on the menu which he greatly enjoyed, I tasted it and it was lovely. There is indoor/outdoor seating available. We decided to sit indoor toward the back of the restaurant near the bar so we can enjoy the natural light and the game on TV. There was complimentary bread offered which was a pleasant surprise. For my main I asked for the Paella and my partner had the Chicken Pita wrap.
