Today I tried just the rice plate that had cheese, rice, peppers, onions, hot links (you can get mild), and shrimp. This plate was good to perfection and I have not found a place that makes it better than them or even like them. Re-minded me to much of Al's Cafe before he stopped cooking! She was as quick as they could be to get your food. They will give you a time estimate on how long it will take and I appreciate that. Food came out extremely fresh and good. What I will tell you is the wait time is high due to the amount of people that come up and line up for it! It's def worth it for the wait time. The way keep clean around them as it is truck by near the bart station but parking is going to be rough for anyone who goes unless you get lucky to get one of the 3 spots around them otherwise parallel park or fin parking and walk. I drive by here all the time, and I know this place is small and not really dine-in friendly, so I ordered online to go. Honey ordered the rib plate with yams and baked beans. I ordered the rib and link plate with mac and cheese and potato salad. The online order (DoorDash) status said it would be 25 to 35 minutes before we could pick up our food. Coming from Hayward, that was perfect timing. When I arrived, there was a small line. "Unc" was in the back making plates, and the young lady up front seemed a little overwhelmed, but she was doing her best. Unc came from the back with our plates and asked for the online purchase verification. I thanked him, he told me to have a good day, and I went on my way. The food was good, pricey but good. We spent 66 dollars on the two plates ordering DoorDash. Honey is from Texas, so she's not a big fan of pre-sauced meat; she says it hides the true quality of the meat. The online order form doesn't let you put the sauce on the side. However, the ribs were tender, peeled off the bone easily, and were seasoned just right. The link was great; I don't think you'll find that kind of link in a grocery store. The mac and cheese has a hint of garlic in it, which was surprising in a good way. The yams had the right amount of sweetness to them, not too sugary or overpowered by cinnamon and nutmeg. The beans were good too, just standard baked beans without extras. The potato salad was different; the cut of the potatoes was unique and not too soft. It was good, just not what I'm used to, so I don't think I would order that again. Overall, Roderick's is good BBQ. I would come back, I also want to try their fried cat fish.

On weekends, there's also a BBQ spot next door that I was told is a must-try. Apparently it always has a line down the street and sells out, so the wait is definitely part of the experience and worth it if you've got the time.
