A nice small place unlike LAX. Just don't buy food from the Perry's point vendor. That stuff costed me 22 dollars for anything really. Just a sandwich or a salad. Go to Guy's burger joint or eat before if you dont wanna get ripped off. The luggage situation is stupid too. Pay more money for just bringing extra luggage. I had to bring a roller pack with little clothing. read more

Compared to LAX this airport is a breeze to go through. I like how we have to enter the airplanes the old way so I can take a selfie with the airplane as my backdrop - LOL. There's a good selection of food options too, not bad for a small airport. read more

We flew into Bob Hope Airport and thought it was very easy to get around, very well marked for someone who had never been there. Plenty of clean restrooms and drinking fountains . We had our dog with us and before we claimed our baggage we took her outside to use the bathroom after our flight. The baggage claim area was clean and well organized, once we had our baggage we headed towards the car rental area, beware! You have to cross traffic twice when going towards the car rental counters, we were half way across the road when a driver not paying attention zoomed in front of us, missing us by 5 feet, not happy about that. We enjoyed the time we spent at Bob Hope Airport, watch out for crazy driving! read more

I travel a lot but rarely out of this airport, which is actually much closer to where I live. So as I just mentioned, I travel a lot so you'd think I have this figured out by now but I don't.. I just spent $37 at Peet's coffee for a bag of chips, sandwich and mineral water . So folks, squeeze in a meal or bring snacks with you! That's a ridiculous amount of money for a small meal. On a more positive note, because this airport is smaller, the check in and TSA process is usually faster and smoother, it has been for me every time I've traveled from this airport. Happy travels! You don't know how much easier you made my life returning to LA from NYC. How could an airport in the most boring part of LA be so incredible? Perhaps that's the irony. I was dreading my return to this city but when I disembarked my eyes and soul were instantly calm. A tiny little oasis with room to walk. An ease to navigate. Nice little airport to fly out of. I dread LAX! Getting in vis car took a while but TSA line went quickly and terminal is not that big. I arrived at 1:55pm for a 2:45pm flight. Needed to board by 2:15 so I was a bit nervous but made it with plenty time to spare. read more

The TSA at Bob Hope Airport seems intent on hassling Pre-Check holders. Having TSA Pre-Check allows me to go through expedited screening, including a metal detector instead of the full body scanner. But on my last two visits to this airport, I've been "randomly" selected both times for additional screening when walking through the metal detector. The machine makes a different, ominous beep to let you know that you're a lucky winner. I then have to choose between the full body scanner or a patdown; I always opt for the latter. The TSA claims that they don't keep track of who's walking through the metal detector, so the machine can't target an individual. Given the complexity required to reliably track who's walking through the machine, I'm inclined to believe them. However, the agent that I talked to said that the machine has to meet a quota of a certain number of random screenings per hour. On my most recent visit, given that the woman two places ahead of me and the woman three places behind me were also selected "randomly", I'd estimate that this machine was trying to hit a quota of 50 people per hour. I've never seen this happen at other airports. The quota being turned up so high at Bob Hope just inconveniences Pre-Check holders, diverts TSA resources away from the general screening area, and causes more delay for everybody. At least the agent patting me down didn't do the extended groin check. Maybe he felt bad for me since I was complaining. I later went on the TSA website and filed a complaint about the machine and received a canned response back. I'm doubtful that anything will be done. Our tax dollars not well spent. read more

Burbank is a pretty small airport. The folks here are extremely nice. TSA agents were engaging and energetic which made the process of going through security pleasant. The waiting areas for the gate is pretty standard. There are too few outlets which are scattered along the walls. If you get to the gate too late it may be hard to find an open outlet. read more

Even though there isn't a separate precheck line, we could keep our shoes on. Still had to put liquids and tablets in a separate tray. People were nice. On our previous visit, my mother in law had decided to take a set of silver up to her grandson. Guess what, dinner and butter knives don't cut it lol. Hubby had to run her bag back and check it. But with no line up and checking in well in advance, he still had time to do it. Wouldn't have worked at LAX! read more

So here's the thing , Most airlines do not charge you for baggage if you show up at the gate with your bag . So don't check your bag if its the 21" type of suit case that can fit into the overhead bin or under your seat. You can gate check your bag if you show up and the plane is booked solid for bin space. There is also no weight minimum or maxium so there are no overages if your small bag is over 50lbs. Then you also do not have to wait at the baggage carousel because these bags are waiting for you when you exit the plane . Some of the small planes that leave out of Burbank require smaller carry-ons. Overall the experience here was quick. The TSA checkpoint is way less than the lines at LAX but much longer than the lines at LBC. read more

Way easier than Az. If traveling with a firearm please buy the TSA locks and save yourself and everyone else the headache. I packed mine in my roll on suitcase (that fits in overhead compartment but due to firearm rules, I checked it in). I made it easy for them to find (Inner side pocket), studied all the regulations so I didn't cause delay or worse yet bring the wrong lock like another guy did. Easy peasy. read more

You don't have any choice if you are flying out of Burbank. Staff is competent enough, but they could use a better layout and more benches to put shoes, et cetera on. I was carrying a dog (3.5 pounds) so they had to rub my hands on some sort of cloth and put it in a machine. Testing for explosive residue, I suppose. Flying was a lot more fun before we had to submit to TSA. I know we need to do it, but people should understand that the terrorists won--we spend a lot of money and time now that we didn't have to prior to the terror attacks. read more

I travel this direction a lot for work. I give this airport 2 stars instead of 3 because of the lack of TSA precheck. Instead of a different line where you can keep your electronics in your bag and your shoes on, you get a card that indicates you're TSA precheck, which allows you to keep your shoes. If that wasn't a consideration that I valued so highly, I would give this airport 4 STARS for sure. I've traveled out of LAX. This airport is far more convenient in all aspects than dealing with that mess. read more

NO SEPARATE TSA PRECHECK LINE! They will let you keep your shoes on and go through the metal detector, but you stitches to take out your laptop and iPad. Also if the line is long AF, you have to wait, just like everyone else. So all of that hard earned money you spent on PRECHECK, doesn't get you into the special line here. read more

Had my mother in law in a wheelchair, TSA officer, I think her last name was Dagger was so sweet, friendly and patient with my elderly disabled mother in law. What can I say about a TSA checkpoint? Well, this one, like the airport itself, is small and short so you won't be waiting without your shoes for very long. Just the usual serious agents, gray plastic bins, scanner machines but on a much smaller scale. Every time I've gone through one of the BUR checkpoints they have wiped my hands down and checked to see if there's any inappropriate residue on my hands. Of course, I come out clean but I find it a little weird because I never get the "towel" at other airports. read more

They took my lighter I carry with me everywhere & didn't give me the option of mailing it home (I asked) they said "you can take it and exit the airport or we need to dispose of it" I needed to catch my flight so I had to part ways with it. The reason was because it was a "torch lighter" I have never had a problem bringing it through tsa before this & I've brought it with me everywhere I've gone since 2018 (I fly ALOT) I've brought it with me on international flights aswell and never had any problems. The lighter was expensive & I've never seen another lighter like it anywhere. I had just refilled it with new lighter fluid which also costs money. I understand it's a safety hazard, but they 100% should've let me mail it home because I've been carrying it with me for 3 years now (never go anywhere without it) and then all of a sudden it's gone and I couldn't do anything about it unless I wanted to miss my flight (which costs less than the lighter mind you) I had to take that flight to get home for work so I had no other options. Super disappointed. All airports should have a mailing system for items that cannot go with you on flights (nothing that breaks federal law of course) read more

Terrible. We were travelling with someone with Alzheimers who cannot truly comprehend anymore or follow instructions. We all had pre TSA screening and explained she cannot follow or comprehend instructions AND that she has steel knees from surgery. Well, they said they still hve to pat her down. Ok no problem but I warned them that she can get aggressive. She did and they kept us there for a long time. I usually fly out of lax but due to emergency, I had to fly out from BUR. Small but friendly airport. Upon my arrival at my destination, I noticed that the last 2 things I packed in my check-in bag were not there, but I did have the flyer from TSA letting me know that they went thru my bags. What was taken? My cologne (which was almost done) and a FAKE LV wallet. I was mad at first, but now I feel sorry for whoever took those items. You'll get about a months worth of cologne use and stinky money bc that made-in -China wallet smelled bad. I only took it to Brazil in case I got robbed there, I wouldn't lose my real wallet. Turns out I didn't have to go to Brazil for that. BUR TSA is just as quick to rob. Thanks a lot BUR TSA! read more

I have been a Southwest Airline customer for years and have a lot of points on my account. This account is still under my married name because of a very tedious process to get my name changed there since my divorce about two years ago. Last year I flew many times, and inquired to both SWA and the TSA about how to fly when my ticket name does not match my ID, which is now in my maiden name which I currently use. I was told by both agencies to simply bring my certified divorce decree which shows my authorized name change. It even shows my current residential address, which matches my drivers license. This document along with my drivers license has been sufficient in multiple airport TSA checkpoints throughout this nation, including Seattle, Chicago, Las Vegas, and LAX. In fact, it only took an extra 30 seconds, and the TSA agent could easily approve. Not so in Burbank. When I presented my ID and divorce degree, I was asked for additional proof, such as a credit card in my old name. I said that the divorce decree proved my name change, which shows my married name and name change. It was not a copy but a certified document. The agent said, But it's two years old. I replied, yes... I am still divorced from that person, and I am still using the name given on the name change page, which is the name on my ID. And even the addresses on the document and my license match. Agents says, Not good enough. If you had a credit card in your old name that would be proof. I laughed and said, You mean to tell me, an old expired credit card has more validity that a court document?! I pointed to the places in the court document to see. He was insistent on his way. He called over his supervisor, a woman with neat dark hair in a tight bun, and professional make-up (name unknown,) who also looked over my ID and document, and said they would need to verify it, and got on the phone. Ok, fine. That didn't take much time. This was all so unnecessary and I was frustrated but submitted what they requested with a form. It is what happened afterward where I feel violated. The supervisor got the verification over the phone about my ID. YET MADE ME BE SUBJECTED TO ADDITIONAL SCREENING. All of my belongings were searched, my coat pockets were emptied, I had to go through the body scanner AND have a physical pat down, while two agents searched through all of my belongings. ( I did not even opt-out of the body scanner.) I felt so humiliated and violated, and criminalized for having a divorce and name change. I did what I was supposed to do, and had the correct documents, yet I was treated like a threat. THIS WAS WRONG WRONG WRONG and I want the TSA staff at Burbank airport to get up to speed on passengers who fly with divorce or marriage documents, as apparently the rest of the nations TSA workers did years ago. I have filed a formal complaint, as I feel my civil liberties were violated, by an unnecessary search. read more

Full body pat-downs as a primary screening method? Seems unreasonable to me.

I second the prior reviewer. I tried to carry on a bottle of contact solution (normally allowed as a medically necessary liquid) and was threatened with a full body pat down and full luggage search if I didn't surrender it. I've flown dozens of times with a similar bottle before without issue. The agents were rude and condescending and I was very embarrassed. read more

So the tsa lady told me to pull up my pants which was resting on my belly button ...I lifted my shirt up to show her that's all it will go..she then tells me that I may receive a pat down...ok whatever ..I go through the scanner and BAM!!! Convenient location and I love arriving at BUR, but dread departing due to the gross pat down I get Every. Single. Time. The fact that this only happens at BUR leads me to believe the body scan machine is not properly calibrated at this airport. Fix the machine please. read more
