I have traveled out of this airport my entire life, and arriving 45-60 minutes before an early morning flight has always been sufficient. Instead of offering any assistance, the employee working the counter, Jen, refused to take our bags and was unnecessarily rude and confrontational. Rather than trying to help or explain our options professionally, she harassed my husband and me and treated us with complete disrespect. When we asked to rebook our flight, Jen refused to help us with that as well. We had to find another employee who was willing to assist us. I understand that airlines have policies and deadlines, but customer service still matters. Jen showed no empathy, no willingness to help, and turned what could have been a minor inconvenience into an incredibly frustrating experience. I think is actually pretty COOL even thought there's nothing AMAZING about the place other then it being small and simple. Everyone there was friendly and smiling. They have a little library/lounge area to relax before your flight with a few vending machines, technically it's part of the Zebra's Sports Grill but no one is there just a rest area. You can even borrow a book from their library (which are 2 bookcases with a some good novels) return it after your done or even take it with you on if you want to continue reading it, I guess this is COOL. To get to the rest of the Zebra's Sports Grill you have to exit the terminal area and just walk next door.

I'm from California so I would consider Long Beach airport tiny but compared to this place, LB airport seems like the Taj Mahal. There are only 2 terminals & 1 security checkpoint so make sure that you arrive there early to get through the line...well maybe not 'international flight' early but a good hour would be good if you have to check-in your bags. Also, the seating at each gate is very minimal so you'll likely be sitting separate from your group or standing. I wouldn't recommend claustrophobic fliers to head here or weak-stomach fliers for that matter because the planes are very small so you feel all the turbulence. It's enough to make you want to close your eyes & breathe in & out of a paper bag. What I appreciated about this airport the most was the friendly staff. Everyone is very helpful & kind, which is a great thing when you fly into an unknown town.
