Made an appointment for a TSA pre check enrollment and as long as you follow the instructions, it'll go smoothly. First things first, make sure you have an appointment (book online in advance) as they DO take walk ins but from what I was told, they only take a few walk ins a day at 1pm and usually it fills up right when they open in the morning. Don't even bother walking in from what I was told by the receptionist. Things you'll need: -appointment -proof of identification (passport or passport card suffices, but if you don't have that then a birth certificate and ID works too; details of what you need will be in the email when you make the appointment) -credit or debit card in the NAME of the applicant, so make sure you either bring a card in your own name or $85 cash -remember your social security number as they'll ask you for the full number Process: I had an appointment at 12:50 and got there early around 12:30. So DO NOT go inside as you can't wait inside (i went inside the first time i walked in and was told to leave since their don't take walk ins anymore for the day, and second time was told to check in and wait outside), you need to check in and they'll let you know when to go in. I checked in via the link below or you can scan the QR code posted on the door and window outside. It'll ask you to enter your name, phone # and appointment time. I received a confirmation that I checked in at 12:30 and at 12:49 received a text to go inside. I showed them my photo id and payment and was told to have a seat. A few minutes later, I was called into a room. I confirmed my personal details, asked for my social security number, scanned my fingerprints and took a picture (make sure to look ok). Reiterating what many Yelper's already said: quick service and recommend walk-in's to come during opening or closing for quicker service I arrived around 11am on a Wednesday and took no more than 40 min. The actual process of fingerprinting and payment only took 5-10 minutes it seemed. It's a small space (~13-15 chairs) and can get cramped if it is busy. I also recommend calling the site around the holidays since their hours may be different to ensure that they're open especially if you plan to walk-in. read more

Thursday at 6pm I arrived to sign up for TSA pre-check. No appointment and I was still in and out in 10 minutes! Fast and friendly service. Bring licence and a passport or birth certificate. $85 for 5 years. Amex will reimburse so make sure you have the right card for this perk.. So easy. So worth it. When flying it beats the heck out of waiting on the regular lines to get through security. Don't have to remove shoes, jacket, belts,or laptops from bags. So sweet. Pro tip - if you don't have an appointment go during a mid-week day near closing time as it's not busy then. When I walked in I was one of two people applying for pre-check. I signed up online for an appointment for Tsa Pre-check but there wasn't one available until a month later so I decided to do a walk-in! I came at 5:40 PM on a Tuesday and the room looked really full, but the guy at the counter told me there were only 3 ppl in front of me and it would be a 40 minute wait. (They do other services such as finger-print scanning) I waited for literally 10 minutes and then was called to the back to do fingerprints, pay, and I was done! Horrible horrible horrible... employees do not want to work, they're disrespectful and very entitled. They are so disrespectful with your things even after there is no danger, they take random things that shouldn't be taken away or "confiscated" and they're also very rude if you question why they're doing what they're doing... they crack jokes thinking it's funny, and lack professionalism. It was unreal how quick this process was. I had originally signed up online but the next appointment was a month away. I gambled on a walk-in appointment on a Saturday morning. I got there at 10:45, sat down to wait and was called within 10 minutes. They took down my information, did the fingerprinting and the quick photo and I was out of there within the next 10 minutes. I already have my Known Traveler Number on the DHS site and it's only Tuesday! TO NOTE - you do not need to wait for the actual letter to be mailed to you (even though it will be) - the site will update first and then you can start using your number straightaway! I got mine within 3 days. To note- it's a first floor office with a few different companies and no blatant TSA branding. When you walk in, just get on line for the front desk and tell them what you're there for. Then they'll call your name to go in the back for the precheck process when its your turn. I'm so amazed by how fast I was in and out with no appointment. Trying to make an appointment online is a little difficult, the site said that nothing was available for about a month and a half but that walk-in appointments are accepted. I walked in at exactly 2:00 on a Thursday with a book, prepared to wait for a couple of hours. The waiting room was full so I was a little worried. The woman at the desk asked for my passport, gave it back, and said that someone would be with me soon. Two minutes later someone called my name and I had to look around to see if maybe someone else who was waiting had the same name as me. Nope! On January 20th I went to this location in Poughkeepsie New York to get my TSA, applied for an appointment online. I arrive on time, helping me is the rudest woman, I have ever met with no reason for her to act this way. She takes my information charges my credit card and I leave. I check the site no Information can be found. I've gone through automated nothing..February 15th I am on this side of town and I stop in to ask why Im not in the system. They tell me they have no idea but I have to pay Again for the second time with me showing the charge on my credit card. The new lady tells me, I can either take it or leave If I want a TSA Who hires people like this, what is wrong with corporate, you have people representing you in your customer service area in Poughkeepsie New York. I decided to try walk-in, even though I had an appointment in a couple weeks, because it seems so easy according the reviews, and IT WAS. I walked-in on a Friday at 9:15am, and was out by 9:24am. I showed up, walked one flight up to the office, then checked-in/handed my passport to the very nice woman at the front desk. I sat down for 3-4 minutes before my name was called. There were a few other people in the waiting room, but they perform other services besides TSA PreCheck here. I had already filled in an application online, so the process was very quick - scanning my passport, reviewing my application (address/contact info/questionnaire), fingerprinting, and then paid $85 with CC and I was outta there. I boldly attempted a walk-in appointment attempt on a Friday at 11am. Mentally I was prepared to wait 3-4 hours, I was ready. I brought my Kindle and a copy of The Martian. Bring it on inefficient bureaucracy! I was in and out in 45 minutes. This isn't a government building. It's this shared workspace for several businesses and you wait in this lobby / kitchen space. The actual TSA pre check room is just one small room near the corner of the waiting area. Highly recommend you update your status if you can - worth not waiting in an airport. read more

You will be amazed. This is a posh office, it is nothing like the DMV. Once you input your information into the website, you are told that there is no reservation availability for 145 days at this location and that walkin is the only acceptable method at this time. But based on my recent visit, I don't think they take reservations at all. You enter the building on Cadman Plaza and the front desk office staff know nothing about this place. Kindly remind them that it is on the 12th floor, suite 12001. In fact, it is the only office on the floor. You sign in the book ( only 1 other person signed in that afternoon) and you head down the hall to the last elevator bank on the right. Take the elevator to the 12th floor, once you're out of the elevator go to the glass doors there are no other offices and conveniently there are no signs to tell you where to go. You'll be very confused because it does not look like some of your bureaucratic government office. There are no long lines, dirty Formica floors or stained ceiling tiles with dim lighting, there is fancy furniture even a coffee table with a coffee table book and helpful staff that will greet you almost immediately. Once an attendant comes out to get you, you are escored quickly into a room adorned with aeronautical artwork. After a few short questions( namely the same ones you already answered on the computer) you give your payment of $85 one of the four main credit cards are accepted cashiers check too, and then you fingerprint. No need to take a photo with you, they will not need to take a photo anyway. Now you are done. that's it! Go home and wait 7 to 21 days before you are given in the mail your acceptance or denial. bottom line: I did a walk in here and it is 100% opposite the DMV. I just had a great experience here! I had an appointment scheduled but decided to come in for a walk in and wasn't disappointed. The very nice guy working the front desk asked me for my passport and put my name on a list. He also informed me that my scheduled appt would be automatically canceled once this visit was finished. I sat down for maybe 5 minutes and then my name was called. Sergio Ramos took care of me and after scanning my passport, getting fingerprinted, confirming my personal information and paying, I was finished! The entire process took 15 minutes. Yes, you'll be amazed. This totally cool shared office space, fit for young entrepreneurs and millennial freelancers, includes the small office for the TSA PreCheck Center. It's sleek, quiet, clean, equipped with a lovely kitchen area (offering free espresso) and computer pods. I signed in for an 11AM appt. There were only two people ahead of me and one or two behind me, seated at modernist chairs in the waiting area. Everyone asks the same question: "Is this really the TSA office". I was shortly escorted into the office by a young woman for a quick series of questions, a fingerprint scan, the scan of my passport, and a swipe of my credit card for $85. I was out by around 11:15. You'll wish every gov. office was like this one. This place is so nice, you'd imagine that it's the expensive VIP alternative to the "regular" office. But no, this is for the hoi polloi. read more

The guy on the reception desk with the orange curly hair is rude and unfriendly. I didn't have an appointment so was sitting there for 50 minutes. During this time, I saw him deal with numerous customers. I never saw him smile or heard him say say please or thank you. I even heard him speaking sharply to some people who maybe didn't speak English too well or didn't understanding his directions. Appalling and very unprofessional! He needs serious customer service training or to find a different job. He should remember just who is paying his wages... I Pre-Enrolled online, then simply walked in on a Friday afternoon. I was called within 90 seconds and out the door in 5 minutes flat.
