Literally just got back from the restaurant and had to write a review.. that is how good the food was and the service! My boyfriend and I have been looking for good Chinese food in the area and were especially pleased with this place. We started off with Hot and Sour Soup ($3.99 for a small). I was really good just how I expected it to be and the waitress served it for us. We then had an entree each. He had Szechuan Beef ($7.75) and I got the Mu Shu Pork ($7.25). The beef was really tasty and the vegetables were fresh and crispy! Mu Shu Pork is my favorite and I am really picky when it comes to it and this place lived up to it 100 times over! FANTASTIC and FRESH and YUMMY! :) We also had Chicken Chow Mein ($5.50) which was really good and not greasy!! The service was great and we were waited on by multiple people. Water was never empty, empty plates were taken away immediately, and everyone was friendly! It was also very clean and quaint! We WILL be going back again and again!! Oh come on! You've got to be kidding me with some of these poor reviews. They must be from Kowloon Kitchen/Chan's fans. Now, those places are bland. Tsing Tao is the best Chinese restaurant in the valley. My husband and picky mom think so to. We've been coming here for over 15 years. The taste is consistent over the years and everything we've ordered is sooo flavorful and fresh. Huge portions, super quick service, low prices, all friendly waitresses. Our fave items on the menu are sweet and sour chicken, Tsing Tao beef, three ingredients, Mandarin squid, potstickers, foil wrapped chicken, sizzling rice soup, chop suey,...list goes on. This is my go to place to get fat. So I don't get these comments about bland food and waitresses with an attitude. We've never experienced any of that here. read more

We stopped in on a whim for the first time at dinner time on a Friday night. We were greeted right away and seated immediately. Service was fast, friendly and very efficient. The food was great, and we feel as though we found a hidden gem. We ordered crab wontons, pork fried rice, Mongolian beef and mandarin chicken. My only comment would be the mandarin chicken says it's spicy but there was no spice, still very good but we hoped for some spice. We asked what dishes were spicier so we know for next time. I'm not sure how this place got so many stars and good ratings. It was very bland. No let me reiterate, extremely bland! Mushu pork was stringy. It wasn't shredded pork, it was the egg mixture in it that was stringy. Extremely off putting by the looks of it. It only tasted better with the hoisin sauce. The Mongolian beef, bland. Could only taste onion and nothing else. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone honestly. But it's what I get for fast food due to an injury making me unable to cook temporarily. Someone please let me know where in Clovis is a good Chinese restaurant!!!!! I hate to have to drive so far out into Fresno to get any. But if it's worth it, I guess it's best that I do. read more

The waitresses are very attentive Ambiance: kinda romantic for being in a strip mall! I would avoid sitting near the door, the sunset can be glaring if you're sitting near the door. Tsing Tao has been our go to Chinese restaurant since we moved back here in 1989 from the Bay Area. This is a wonderful mellow place to eat. The interior is very beautiful. During the years I worked as a professor at CSU Fresno I had lunch with colleagues, friends and my students. The food is excellent. My favorite is the Kung Pao chicken. Lots of vegetables, spicy chicken and peanuts. Yum! We ordered takeout which included Kung Pao San Yang, Shrimp with Snow Peas and Crispy Beef. Everything was excellent for a good price. We enjoyed our dinner and had leftovers for lunch the next day. This is a great place for lunch. The staff is very friendly, fast and helpful. So do yourself a favor and try this great Chinese restaurant. Awesome! read more

My daughter and I ate at Tsing Tao for the first time yesterday (New Year's Day). I decided to try the restaurant after a question was asked on the Nextdoor website/app a few months back when someone posted they were looking for the best Chinese restaurant in the Fresno/Clovis area and was looking for recommendations. Within three days, there were over 200 recommendations (including mine) and the same 5-6 restaurants kept popping up in the comments as "the best," including Tsing Tao. I have already eaten at the other top recommendations and agreed with all the choices. I made a mental note to myself to eventually give Tsing Tao a try. I've lived in Fresno since 1985 and all I can say is -- what took me so long to find this restaurant!!??? We arrived around 7pm and were quickly seated. We decided to order basic fare, nothing too fancy or exotic. We went with the hot and sour soup, broccoli chicken and Tsing Tao fried rice (a combo of beef, chicken, pork and shrimp). Our order came out quickly and all the dishes were flavorful and reasonably priced. In fact, my daughter and I agree we have found our new favorite Chinese restaurant and will definitely go back soon. read more

Visited last minute before closing on a Saturday night. Our food came to us in less than 10 minutes, was piping hot and flavorful, all employees were very friendly and checked in on us multiple times. I was really excited to try this Chinese restaurant. I ordered the General Tong's chicken, pan fried noodles, steamed rice, and egg rolls. Reviews it seemed pretty good, and I was looking for some tasty Chinese. Here is my honest evaluation... I expected General Tong's chicken to be spicy and hot and flavorful, sadly it was none of the above. There was very little fat in the chicken cubes, and that will be my positive comment on the dish. The steamed rice was cold but I did have to drive it back to my place, about five minutes away. Other than that the rice was fine but... It was just rice LOL. Pan fried noodles were disappointing. They just appeared to be like spaghetti noodles that were boiled and strained in a colander. There was absolutely no flavor. Nothing to even give a hint that they had been panfried. I had to douse them with soy sauce to get something out of them. Eggroll was nicely fried and fresh. Not much substance on the inside but it paired nicely with the hot mustard. The customer service was great. Very friendly on the phone and in person. Take this review for what it is. Try the place and form your own opinion and then publish. I've been going there for 30 years now and love it and have your food at least 3 times a month. Tonight we picked up an order and I'm very disappointed. Our shrimp was so overcooked that it was hard and breaking apart on the outside and burnt and rubbery on inside. Our tsing tao chicken doesn't taste the same as it has for 30 years and is what we order everytime, and our pot stickers were burnt on one side and under cooked on other. Let me start by saying I am very picky when it comes to my Chinese food. So many Chinese restaurants are dirty, the food is plain, and the service is awful. However, Tsing-Tao has captured a very sacred spot in my heart. Right when you walk in you get the ambiance of the place. It's kind of dark and has a dim light over your table. I don't know about you but that just starts a meal off great. You're greeted by your host and she/he will accommodate a drink of your choice. The menu has quite a few options, and they have stuff that isn't on the menu too. Like orange chicken.. I don't know why it's not on the menu, but it isn't. Anyways, their soup and salad is amazing. I could live off it. And the food comes out HOT and FRESH. Which is very important to me. And it only gets better.. their prices, WOW, their seriously cheap. I couldn't believe it. And when you eat lunch there the prices are even cheaper! I honestly can't say enough positive things about this place. And that's saying a lot since there is Japanese Kitchen right next door and I'd still choose Tsing-Tao over teppanyaki any day. The food is flavorful, the staff is courteous, and the place is clean and affordable. This is a restaurant-style Chinese place, not fast food Chinese shop. Everything was good whether it was chicken, pork, or beef. The soups were good and I had no complaints. I will return when I crave Chinese food. Does it compare well to SF or Rowland Heights? NOPE. Meh... This restaurant is in a mini mall next to a pub called Hook and Ladder (fireman?). It's very strip clubby on the outside; you can't see anything going on in there from the sidewalk. When you walk in its a small traditionally decorated Chinese place. It's dated and kind of dark. Me and my boyfriend were here on s Friday night and it was nearly full. Good sign. We were seated immediately, given menus and drink orders taken. The menu isn't what we are used to on the east coast for Chinese; meaning, they didn't have the traditional fried food selections that always come with pork fried rice. Not saying that's the way Chinese should be, but that's what I was craving. This menu features dishes based on protein choice and the rice is a la carte. We got an order of crab rangoons to satisfy my need for grease. Six of the smallest rangoons I've ever seen came to the table. They were tasty but tiny. The order of pork fried rice and my boyfriends Hunan shrimp came next. Notice I say his dish came and mine did not. And I waited... Are some rice... Waited... Ate a shrimp... Waited... Had to ask about my food when the waitress asked about a drink refill. Finally my chicken curry was brought out. I'll start by saying the pork fried rice is also not what I expected coming from New England where pork fried rice is brown and has little red pieces of pork. This was white, barely brown slivers of pork and lots of egg. Different for me but good. The boyfriends shrimp dish was overcooked and chewy but he liked it. My chicken curry has too much watery sauce. It was ok but there was barely any chicken and it might just have been pieces of batter floating in curry flavored water. I won't go back here. The food wasn't good and the atmosphere was equally lackluster. Dropped by Tsing Tao for the business lunch. We ordered some hot tea, the 3 ingredients and a Szechuan assorted veggi plate. The service is attentive (if not overly), typical of a standard Chinese restaurant. The food is solid, seems to be quality ingredients, the portion sizes are adequate, and the price is relatively inexpensive. I asked for spicy Szechuan veggies and what arrived to the table lacking any noticeable spice. I fixed that with the chili provided on the table. We didn't order the entire menu, but glancing over the menu, it seemed to be your standard quick Chinese restaurant boring. Mostly your average standard Chinese fare. Take a quick look at their pictures on their website and you can see what I'm talking about. Compared to other inexpensive Chinese places, the quality seemed to be up to par, but I wouldn't go so far as to call this the best Chinese food I have had. 3 stars for inexpensive, quick, solid Chinese food. read more

It was fairly inexpensive. The restaurant is a tad too dark. Service to start was great. We kind of waited to get to-go boxes and the check.
