The first time she did my hair my scalp was sore for 2 days. The second time was a little better, but she would snatch my intertwined locs apart so hard, I almost cried. She said that I needed to run my fingers through my locs when I shampoo, but she didn't address the fact that maybe she was too rough. There was one time that she said she had to leave, didn't ask me if I minded or anything. Apparently, one of the other stylists had a minor fender bender and she needed to go get her. So I had to leave the shop with unfinished hair because she had to lock it, and I sat and waited in my car for 20-25 minutes until she returned. I had to cancel the plans I had for after the appointment because it put her a half hour behind. There was no sorry, no discounts, nothing. She also spends a lot of time checking her phone, talking on the phone, or watching a show on her phone. I don't think that's professional, and feels like the focus is not on finishing with the client in the most expedient manner. Then I had an appointment that she canceled 1 day before it was scheduled because her daughter was having a ceremony for passing or going in to 6th grade. She didn't offer a follow up appointment or call me back to reschedule, even after a week. Usually, if a STYLIST cancels an appointment, they offer an alternative appointment at the same time. This didn't happen and she never got back with me. The shop is very cool towards the clients, IMO. The conversations were mostly among the stylist and very little interaction with the clients. The entertainment was whatever the stylist wanted and I never saw any offers for what the clients may have wanted. So I took my business elsewhere. Sadly, my experience with this shop was not a positive one.

She has cared for my hair through just about every length and style imaginable--from short hair to shoulder-length hair and even hair flowing down my back. There was also a period when I wore finger waves, and her work was always precise and absolutely superb. Her wash, conditioning, flat ironing, trimming, and overall hair care are excellent. If you did, and were kind in your approach at the appointment, we would not be on yelp. Not at any point did I ask or imply that you should work out of your scope. You took my cape off and ran to open the bench seat where my purse was; THAT was when I first knew you weren't going to finish. You still didn't explain anything until I asked why I had to leave with wet hair. That is when you told me I may have a communicable disease! Let's be clear about how that all played out. You rushed me out and intended to let me know if I didn't hurry that there would be physical consequences!! You were the threat! You sat directly across from me on the bench (while the conditioner was sitting in my hair for 5-10 mins ) and didn't say one word to me. Btw, that was weirdly uncomfortable as well. While you were washing the conditioner out you told me that I should see a dermatologist ( to which I told you I already had last week for the eczema). You also told me that "no one ever scratches their head after the 1st shampoo. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that has ever done this, but I digress. You neglected the left side of the back of my head while washing, that's why it was itching. I just asked you to wash and scratch that area. I didn't initially ask you to scratch my head with your nails... BUT if you're going to do it, do my whole head! I scratched my hair one time! One time only and yes with vigor because you stopped and seemed upset, so I apologized and said I'm sorry I'm trying to be difficult but it is itching. And you said, " I never said you were difficult" ( in a condescending tone). And after you washed it better I did not scratch at all. Your lying is really something incredible. You didn't even ask me after you washed it the 1st time if I felt better. I never said the shampoo caused me to itch. I use Olaplex at home You didn't tell me about any products you were using until AFTER I asked you. Don't pretend that you were being diligent in informing me, like a proper cosmetologist would. You must be sick in some way where your fear consumes you. You have an unnecessarily long & off putting notice on your website about not coming in if you're sick. And for you to mention the stylist who recommended me to you ( because you do more black hair) and say I said anything negative about her is ludicrous. What I said was that my hair was falling out after she dyed it. Should I have not let you know that as a cosmetologist that's now dealing with my hair? I was very transparent with you both. She has never refused servicing me. My daughter and I have been going to her for over 6 years and we always have great conversation and hugs afterwards. And we will continue to go to her. How tacky of you to disclose my previous employer as well as my last name. You clearly are a very messy person. I understand that my complaints about your lack of customer service may make you uncomfortable, but you should have some type of boundary as a business owner. She was professional, prompt and super friendly. My regular stylist had gone MIA on me, which was a shame because she did quite a nice job at tailoring exactly to my needs and style preferences. However, I am very grateful to have found Erica of Dare To Dream Hair. She was very attentive to my preferences (double row cornrows with a couple of rows of individuals in the back , pretty standard) and asked me to send over a picture of the last style I had prior to our appointment. She did an amazing job, very complimentary to the shape of my face and my hairline. I was quite pleased . It's really difficult to find a stylist you trust and who is reliable. Her prices were also comparable with that of a salon, and definitely worth the tip. She was quick and very organized, no drama no problems. It was really an ideal experience I would recommend giving her a call for sure.
